If you are so inclined, I would invite you to go to this website and sign the petition in defense of the three Navy Seals accussed of hitting the Islamic Terrorist that they captured.  This is all about politics not about justice or discipline.

We must support of military brothers and sisters.....we owe them for our freedom and security.

Great video. Two cute kids.

Nancy,  December 10, 2009 9:41 PM

That was such a sweet, sweet moment!
Thank you for posting it.

Preach the gospel always, and sometimes, use words.
God, thank you for the wonderful testimony Governor Palin and her family are, for emphasizing the preciousness of every person.

Deidre,  December 10, 2009 9:42 PM

I love this!!!  What a great moment for both sides!!

Kjanlady,  December 10, 2009 9:46 PM

Wow.....watching that clip.....mother and child....pulls at your heart.....kinda reminds you of another story of a mother and child, doesn't it....the holiday coming to celebrate the birth of Christ.

For a good laugh

Hannity reported on Obama's recent snubbing of the Dali Lama when he visited D.C.
Obama thought it would anger the Chinese.

Well the former head of state of Cheq Republic, Vaclav Havel, had harsh words for Obama, saying that he did invite the Dali Lama and believing he actually earned respect with the Chinese. Havel continued:

"...they respect it when someone is standing his ground, when someone is not afraid of them. When someone soils his pants prematurally, then they do not respect you more for it."

What, from a head of state!!!
Surely he's been reading the comments  at C4P, right?

The largest order of Depends on the way to Copenhagen immediately.

THANKS MEL!!!

for the open thread :)

My goodness, did you see how happy not only those 2 beautiful babies were...but the parents!
I'm sure it was special for both sets of parents.
To be reminded you're not alone truely is not only comforting, but a gift.

Have a safe trip home Palin tribe. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Rest up Sarah, after this tour you have got to know that this tour was mild compared to what is in store for you.

I can't understand why the last woman insisted that Conservatives love their country.  We all love our country.  If we didn't we would be doing jigsaw puzzles instead of blogging.

And Sandra it's always nice to see you here, but is that really the piece of the video that jumped out at you?!

Really?

Two mothers with 2 incredibly precious lives with special needs meeting and sharing a moment of understanding and the part you comment on is the lady at the end spouting her opinion?

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 10:12 PM

Exciting to see the interest in Sarah, but much more exciting to know how many military families holidays will be better because of the help they receive.

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 10:14 PM

She would reply, "No thanks.  I'll send in the kids to scout the place out!", as Piper and Tripp and Trig tear down the halls, flinging open doors and calling dibs on rooms.  :)

<span>OT:

I am really nervous about my run in the morning. I have an issue with my left foot, big toe actually. I took today off and plan to wrap it with tape and gut it out in the morning. I am planning to do my normal 5 but I can back out at 4 miles and not feel like I quit.

I am so addicted. I feel so in control, powerful, peaceful and free when I run. My body is working perfectly and I CAN run that last mile, this gives me a sense of accomplishment every day. Plus, I have my best, most focused prayer times when I run.  Hate to have to take a few days off...GRRRRRRRRR I hate getting old.

OK, just think about me in the morning that my toe cooperates. I won't give you the gross medical details. You don't have to thank me for that.....</span>

i will pray for your toe while i am running tomorrow morning.

I hope sarah endorses marco rubio, but she is wise to wait till the debates start.

sandrainoregon,  December 10, 2009 10:19 PM

Somehow loving a person's own child does not seem to be a political or public statement.  I am offended that someone would think I don't love my country.

Whitney,  December 10, 2009 10:20 PM

Lipstick,
Don't be so hard on yourself, woman! I wish I had your discipline with running, but I've been bad lately. There needs to be more hours of daylight and/or warmer temperatures. I understand your frustration/addiction. Wrap it with tape, and take it easy. Just make sure you don't overcompensate and hurt something else. Yes, running (or prunning) is a great focused prayer time. :) Keep up the good discipline and send some of the focused/disciplined vibes up North. :)

Lipstick,  December 10, 2009 10:21 PM

Months ago Sandra really got on my nerves. Now she makes me laugh.

She is like that old Aunt whom shows up at family gatherings and makes comments that everyone thinks...OK??Well, she IS old and she IS family and you just kind of smile, shake your head, even though no one has a clue why she said what she just said...........but you kind of miss her when she maybe doesn't show up at that family gathering and then you even feel a little guilty about thinking you wish she would just not jump into a conversation that she was not following closely enough.....but then you are kind of confused about why you are even putting this much effort into the whole thought pattern....then you realize that you kind of like her but she just really gets on your nerves.......then you laugh and think..........DANG!......Just DANG!!!!!!!!  ;)

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 10:22 PM

Palin/Rubio 2012!

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 10:22 PM

or Palin/West 2012! both are good

Whitney,  December 10, 2009 10:22 PM

I don't think it was an ipso factso statement about anyone else, Sandra. She wasn't stating that since Sarah loves her country that no one else does. I think that this woman appreciated how apparent Sarah's love for America is. That is all.

TSM Admin,  December 10, 2009 10:24 PM

This is 2nd time this week I have blank white space where picture should be.  Happened for Seth's video the other day and now for this.  I have "By Mel Bryant" then a few inches of blank space, then the dashed line at the bottom.  I have Mozilla 3.5.5.  Anything changing?

Lipstick,  December 10, 2009 10:25 PM

Actually, I really DO like Sandra. She has definately grown on me......

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 10:25 PM

I had to watch the vid again Sandra.  I thought I might have missed something.  I never heard that woman at the end suggest you don't love your country.  I heard her say that she loves her country. I heard her say that Sarah loves her country.  That was all she said.

She never said that "conservatives" love their country, nor did she imply that liberals, progressives, or conservative democrats do not.

hrh,  December 10, 2009 10:26 PM

USAToday link has audio of Palin's interview, which will appear in tomorrow's print edition. She talks pretty slow, so don't know if she's just tired (who wouldn't be?) or is consciously trying to sound more deliberative.

Warmer temps await in El Paso....;)

Thank you for your encouragement. I am just kind of overly focused at times and I hate to have to take to much time off and then have to work my way back up to my miles. It will be OK. One of the first things I usually pray is thanking God that I can run. That I can get up out of bed with no help and do this. That is such a blessing!

Yes I have you need to link it here defendAmerica it will give everybody a great laugh Steven Crowder is funny as hell

sandrainoregon,  December 10, 2009 10:34 PM

My kids say the same thing.  I told them that Gelston thought I was a
"hoot."  I said that was an advantage of being elderly.  My son said I wasn't "elderly."  My first daughter said, "Yes, you are a hoot.  that's why we love you."

But back to the point, we all love the US but for different reasons.  I am old fashioned enough to not be swept away by a woman who loves her own child.  I certainly would be by someone who did not.

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 10:38 PM

he did I saw the same thing terri

Lipstick,  December 10, 2009 10:38 PM

I am pretty sure it is Trig. She has on the same outfit as the pics you see with her and Todd that were made just after he was born. But I am not totally sure. It has to be. It is a wonderful, sweet picture.

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 10:39 PM

huh..

Sandra... you're losing me here.  I agree with your point that we all love the US and certainly don't think that this short video clip implied differently.

I also certainly have not been "swept away" by Sarah Palin, nor is my support for her based solely on her love for her child.

I have no doubt that Obama loves his daughters and I think he is a great example of an involved and loving father, yet I do not support his political points of view.  He has yet to "sweep me away".

I think you're grasping at straws for something to disagree with here tonight.

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 10:40 PM

next on Greta is something about Palin vs. Gore its in the best of the rest so it will be short but sweet

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 10:42 PM

MarkRNY,  December 10, 2009 10:44 PM

Me too. Thanks.

sandrainoregon,  December 10, 2009 10:44 PM

I looked at the video again.  Your were right.  The woman didn't say only conservatives love their country.  The announcer was the one that introduced that.  I am glad we can agree on that point and continue the dialogue.

Lipstick,  December 10, 2009 10:44 PM

No. I have never seen it. My husband has the book "God's joyful Runner" I saw it by the bed the other day and I thought I should read it after I finish Sarah's book I need to get the movie from the library and watch it. Perhaps in place of a run if need be!!

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:44 PM

Sorry if this was already posted. The National Journal's Annual "Insiders Poll" comes out tomorrow. This is a group of GOP insiders and members of Congress and surprise, surprise; Palin is their least favorite person. LOL!

http://politics.theatlantic.com/2009/12/sarah_palin_divides_the_gop_elite.php

"Sarah Palin may draw ecstatic crowds in "real America," but among Republican insiders in Washington, she's not so popular.

National Journal's annual Insiders Poll issue will come out Friday, but we've got some early results; the most interesting finding is how many GOP insiders and members of Congress listed Palin as one of their least favorite members of the party.
Palin was the top response when 85 GOP strategists and insiders were asked, "Which voice in your party would you most like to mute?" 28 percent listed Palin; Republican National Committee Chairman Michael came in second, with 12 percent.

Republican members of Congress think a little more highly of her: when GOP lawmakers were asked the same question, "no one" was the most popular response (16 percent), but Palin tied for second at 11 percent with Glenn Beck and Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Steve King (R-IA), and Tom Price (R-GA). 19 votes were recorded in this category.

A smaller handful of GOP insiders are markedly pro-Palin: she came in second to newly elected Virginia Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell (who got 22 percent) when insiders were asked, "Which political figure has most impressed you this year?" Palin got 11 percent of the 87 responses."

it's interesting that the GOP seems to want to "mute" the few Republican voices that are actually out there talking and being heard...

I don't always agree with Steele, but he's been out there trying to get a message out.

Same for Beck and Bachmann.

If you shut them up, we're left with the left.

MarkRNY,  December 10, 2009 10:53 PM

I picture it more like-

Michelle--"This is a racist nation. The election was rigged and people were disenfranchised. How do we KNOW that you got 78% of the vote?! I'M America's sweetheart and we're not leaving!", etc. as O's in his bunny pajamas in a fetal position.

Anyone gotta a favorite shape?

Lipstick,  December 10, 2009 10:57 PM

I don't have a bike..my boy does. But I do have some workout tapes that have lots of weight work in them. That is my back up. I would love to get a mountain bike and try that at a nearby state park. But I haven't done it yet.

I am fine without shoes on. I have thought about trying the bare foot running but I am not really serious about that. Running is awesome. I could run forever from the waist up. It is the feet and knees and ankles and...well, you see my point.

Heart disease runs in my family terribly. My dad died quite young (to me) from it and so many have had their bypass surgery. I am hoping my running helps me to beat that. But if not, I hope I drop dead WHILE running!! I will be doing something I love and more than likely praying at the time. What could be better?

RedDaveR,  December 10, 2009 10:57 PM

Sarah Palin has the quote of the day at hotair.com:http://hotair.com/archives/2009/12/10/quotes-of-the-day-221/

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 11:38 PM

Speaking of cutouts.
Did anyone see how over in Copenhagen, Obama skipped a couple of events, so they put up a life size cutout of him?
No one was fooled. The cutout had a personality.

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 11:41 PM

that was well done Nancy!

5 tidbits of the various polls you might not be aware of or not know:

1) Rasmussen daily tracking poll polls 500 LIKELY VOTERS every night on a 3 day track (1500 total) with the earliest dropping off and the most recent added on

Not since July 14th has Obama been at 53% APPROVAL, the total he amassed on election night Nov 4, 2008. And Obama has not been above 50% since Oct 6. He has been below 50% since Nov 17th, the day Going Rogue was released.

2) The CNN poll released Dec 7 focused most of its attention in its summary on the fallout from the Palin's resignation and a poll that 'suggests a partisan divide and a gender gap. These folks make it sound that it is abnormal that 80% of GOP members favor Palin and more than 7 in 10 Democrats give her the thumbs down. Then they compare her to Al Gore and Dick Cheney, red herrings.

But the key F/UF given 2 short sentences is that among independent voters it's 50/50 for Palin, 51% support from males and 51% thumbs down from females.

Now how can there be a gender gap when you poll roughly within 2% of the same amount with male and female indies.

You could tell that CNN did not want to report this one tidbit.

3) In July's PPP poll Palin's F/UF was 47/45. When citing her overall F/UF, PPP conveniently overlooks this 'aberration'.

4) In two polls one taken in July and the other in November Mitt Romney comes out in a Rasmussen head to head matchup tied with Obama on both occasions. Why is there not more talk about Mitt as the frontrunner than Huck?

5) In the most recent Rasmussen poll of the Big 3 2012 GOP contenders 51% of Republicans had a VERY FAVORABLE view of Palin and only 17% gave that designation to Romney. If intensity is what gets people to the polls Palinmania appears to be in very good shape among the base.

I noticed that President Obama was reading TOTUS much slower than usual, during the "Going Rogue", sections of his Nobel Peace Prize speech.
You can see on his face, his brain saying, WTH?, as he reads the right TOTUS, and then turns to read the left TOTUS.

PatrickinOH,  December 10, 2009 11:48 PM

Bwahahahahaha brilliant!

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 11:49 PM

do you really think he is thinking about what totus tells him to say?

i think it might be way over his head.

Nancy,  December 10, 2009 11:50 PM

LOL! Probably not!:)

Zephyr,  December 10, 2009 11:54 PM

Anyone else notice the thread running earlier comparing parts of the Governor's book and Obama's speech suddenly disappeared?  I thought I was in the Twilight Zone for awhile.

PatrickinOH,  December 11, 2009 12:01 AM

Heading to bed goodnight everyone...AND GOODNIGHT MISS DUNN WHEREVER YOU ARE!

Dan C,  December 11, 2009 12:04 AM

This is great news. She does not want to be in the elite GOP. Thats how she will get elected. PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, THE VOTERS HATE THE INSIDERS! She knows this and is positioning herself perfectly!

PatrickinOH,  December 11, 2009 12:06 AM

yeah that happened yesterday with that thread about another ethics complaint from the falafel lady nice avatar btw Zephyr

Zephyr,  December 11, 2009 12:06 AM

Sorry Kjanlady if I had that much money to loan I could probably afford to double or triple the bid and just get it myself because if I had that kind of money I would probably be too stingy to loan it!...Just thinkin'

The madness at Copehagen continues. This input by the World Health Organization is trying to create two new human rights: the right to 'live well' and the right to "health".

This looks like a world wide health care plan.. paid of course by us.

"Financial Mechanisms to support climate change action should be accessible
both to support actions that provide opportunities for improving health while
reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, and to support programmes that
help protect public health from climate change"

So on top of ObamaCare we will also have UNcare.

ellen,  December 11, 2009 1:09 AM

I noticed that as well. It like he was thinking to himself "why are we saying this, again?".
I can't figure it out. He was talking about war for ten minutes while getting the peace prize. I guess how things are in opposite land.

DefCon66,  December 11, 2009 1:18 AM

Signed it.

One weakness of Sarah, for some, is her fast pace of speech. Some can't keep up with her. Especially older southerners. Sarah is a fast talker.

A,  December 11, 2009 1:33 AM

And many live in VA.

A,  December 11, 2009 1:35 AM

I wonder if SARAHPAC has them on retainer to say "Sarah should sit down and shut up."

It might be money well spent.

A,  December 11, 2009 1:43 AM

Well, that proves that she does wear expensive clothes.

The jewish voters are finally comming to their senses:

This is a big opportunity for Sarah to pick up those votes and tip the scales in her favor.

Here are the various dynamics of the PPP poll generally from March 2009:

1) Mike Huckabee has been touted as the frontrunner in 10 straight polls as the frontrunner based on his head to head matchup against Obama. What is counterintuitive is that his since his overall high F of 45 in August he has fallen back 10 points to 35 F in December and since his overall high of 48 F among indies in August he has fallen back to 34 F in December.

2) Along the same lines starting in September all the overall F of the Big 3 have fallen off to the 30's (Romney's was already in the 30's) except for Palin who just broke 40 one time this month; at the same time Obama's F has remained stable between 49 and 52. It appears PPP is trying to create the narrative that not one of the Big 3 is poised now to defeat Obama but then in the same breath they keep touting Huck's credentials. While other polls clearly show Huck and Palin with overall favorables at a minimum in the mid 40's, you then have to suspect the breakdown of who is polled

3) As I previously mentioned Palin was at 47/45 in overall F/UF and 45/43 among indies in July; in August I found that PPP poll oversampled PHD's by 18% (based on 2008 exit polls) and correspondingly that Palin did the worst among this group. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why Palin fell to 40/48 F/UF and 37/49 among indie F/UF in August; by the way since that August poll PPP has not listed a breakdown by education. I wonder why. And since August Palin has only gained 1 point in her overall F and 2 points in her indie F according to PPP.

4) It appears on PPP's primary goals is to prop up Obama's indie F. While virtually every other poll show his indie F at the low 30's or low to mid 40's, PPP is the only poll to show him consistently 46 or above and also with much lower UF. What they are trying to do is to disabuse the narrative that indie voters are deserting Obama in droves.

5) And the final narrative is that Palin is always trailing Huck and Mitt in head to head matchups of Obama even though she leads the Big 3 in most categories of F.

6) And finally PPP is an outlier with MODERATES as it always shows Obama in the low to mid 60's (66 in Dec) while in Dec, Econ/you guv,  Quinnipiac, and Marist and Gallup weekly all show Obama in the hig 40's or 50's. Perhaps this is a sign that PPP oversamples moderates, especially Democratic moderates who are actually liberals at heart.

I am sorry but they'll never vote Republican.

BetseyRoss,  December 11, 2009 10:12 AM

I have spent the last 40 years living around DC, first in MD and now in VA.  It is true that we did not know much about what was going on because all we had was the WaPo.  There's the first problem.  Next the local channels on their news programs cover mostly who got killed and how many murders remained unsolved.  Then there was the oblicgatory story about the school system and the hiring and firing of police chiefs.  News about politics was brief and certainly not in depth.  Add the bias and I can understand why no on in DC is informed.
If you question Senators and Reps, they don't know much either.  They understand what is happening with their jobs, but very few understand the big picture.

BetseyRoss,  December 11, 2009 10:16 AM

Oh, my.  They are almost as good as the Redskins.  My husband and I consider both of them our "home town" teams.  This isn't our year.

I was thinking of an exercise bike that doesn't put any pressure on the toes.  These are usually very cheap at yard sales.  If you have access to a gym, you could get on one there.  Weight work isn't the same as aerobic unless you do it for a long time.  Even walking can be aerobic with less impact on the joints.  Good for you for taking care of yourself.  My area is diet, but I've studied a lot on exercise.
