Going Rogue Book Tour Ends Open Thread (Updated with the Winner to the C4P Book Tour Predictions Contest)

Sadly, today is the final day of Governor Palin's book tour. Her final two book signings are today at the Elmendorf and Eielson Air Force bases in Alaska. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the Air Force estimates that 2,000 people are attending her first book signing.

Leave your thoughts about the book tour and anything else in the comments. Stay tuned later tonight as the winner of the C4P Book tour predictions contest will be announced.

Here is a picture of Governor Palin at the Elmendorf Air Force Base, courtesy of the Anchorage Daily News.

Update: KTUU has video here. More pictures from the tour here and here. And a story from KTVA about the Alaska signings here.

Update #2: We have a three-way tie between Riley4Palin, JeanA, and Al. B. in the C4P Palin Book tour predictions contest. Congratulations. The only point of contention is which stop on the book tour drew the largest crowd. Most reports would indicate that Ft. Bragg deserves the honor though one report from a Utah news channel would give Tempe, Arizona the victory.

Stay tuned for the 2010 predictions thread coming up next week. I know you are all wating with baited breath for that one.

It was a great success. I think it could have been even bigger since she could go almost anywhere and draw thousands. Even though New York is a liberal place, there are lots of people there who would line up to see her. Thousands, easy.

I hope she rests up, has a nice Christmas, then comes out guns blazing for the 2010 elections and of course she will keep attacking this health care bill and cap and tax etc. You can't stop her, you can only hope to contain her! (and that isnt even possible either!)

JTS Blog Talk Radio Show,  December 13, 2009 5:38 PM

That second video is mean't to degrade Sarah supporters. Pretty sad. What is true is that Sarah's support continues to grow while Obama's is on the decline. Funny, they didn't make a video of all the Obot's that didn't know a thing about Obama's policies, but they'll do anything to discredit Sarah.

GAHanson,  December 13, 2009 5:39 PM

There will be another one for the regular civilian population sometime, so there is at least one more signing event to come.  It's been a great tour, we'll miss all the news about the crowds lining up to see her.  But, 2010 is just around the corner, and I'm sure there will be plenty of events with big crowds, and plenty of news ahead.

defendAmerica,  December 13, 2009 5:41 PM

Sad to see it end, but so happy to see her at home with her friends and family in Alaska!

wisetrog,  December 13, 2009 5:41 PM

Tommy, I think both links point to the same video thingy. Where's Huck's answer?

tim c,  December 13, 2009 5:41 PM

The entire Plan of the Gov to write a great book followed by a tour securing her base has been wildly successful. For all of her supporters it has reinforced the truth that Sarah Palin is the best choice for POTUS. A true American not willing to compromise the very principles on which the country was founded. As bo destroys the entire economy (cloward-piven) most Americans will seek the truly American leader from Alaska. A reminder to all that we need representatives with similar courage and values if we are to save the Country.

yogi41,  December 13, 2009 5:43 PM

Exactly. That 2nd video was a joke. Where's the Huckabee explanation?

panchita,  December 13, 2009 5:49 PM

Tommy the second link has another link in it which shows a reporter asking people in Ohio, waiting in line to see Sarah, why they are supporting her. http://instaputz.blogspot.com/2009/11/this-goes-as-well-as-you-might-expect.html.

they have no clue whatsoever what Sarah stands for. They are drawn simply to he personality. Amazing. they sound like obama voters, sad to say.

Nancy,  December 13, 2009 5:49 PM

I have a question.
Is it fair that Cruela predicted she would maul Todd, and then she did?
Is that fair? And does she not only get to maul Todd, but, she also receives a prize?

This seems skewed to me.

CruelaDev,  December 13, 2009 5:52 PM

It was obscure corner of a book store!  No one even noticed...They were too hung on that Sarah person!
But yes...If I win the prize..than my plan worked to perfection!

I don't remember what the questions were, or what my answers were.

Can we bump the predictions thread to the top, so we can revisit the questions and our answers???

Did anyone notice the troll droppings on Rich's thread today?
The troll accused C4P of being a stalking site!
I guess we stalked her all over the 12 of 57 states she visited?

HAHAHA!!  You can see me in this video!!!  I'm standing on a chair to the left of the front door, wearing a bright pink coat... Yes, I was the first in that contested "no wristband" line (and yes, I did get my book signed :)

I agree it has been a 10+ .I hope there is another book  in the works one that covers policy- foreign and domestic to hit about the same time in 2011 a led in for the 2012 primarys.

AND, I have to say that it made people with GOOD answers look like they didn't know what they were talking about.

At the 1:22 mark there is a woman who was right behind me in a blue coat (I refused to be interviewed by this guy, cause you could tell he was out for blood).

She actually gave him some well articulated answers and was very knowledgeable about national politics, but he used a clip where she asked for more clariication and tried to make her look like she didn't know what she was talking about...

Nancy,  December 13, 2009 6:08 PM

Cruela,
I had some splainin' to do on the way home from that book signing!
My girls were asking: Why did Aunt Cruela whisper in The First Dude's ear? Why did Aunt Cruela have so much perfume on?
It was too much, really.

I never win predictions or bets. Nancy, you'll appreciate this, I bet on a Cardinals'/Cubs' game, and lost! I had to change my facebook picture to one of me in Cubs apparel. :( I should have learned a lesson from Pete Rose. That being said, I now predict that if Sarah runs for President, she will lose in a landslide!!

defendAmerica,  December 13, 2009 6:27 PM

Do we have official "right" answers for all of these???

CruelaDev,  December 13, 2009 6:27 PM

Did they like my short skirt though and heels?

A,  December 13, 2009 6:35 PM

Editing.

I warned people that there was a video interviewer in Tempe, and that anti-Sarah videos would be produced from edited video of Sarah supporters.

It will be worse than this.

Beehive,  December 13, 2009 6:35 PM

Aunt Cruela?

hahahaha

Nancy,  December 13, 2009 6:35 PM

Weeelllllll, I used your, ahem, outfit, as a teaching moment, for my girls, on how never to dress.
I don't understand how you say you never wear coats in the winter!? I woud freeze my bagoomba off, if I wore your, ahem, outfit. Anytime of year!

You are a hardy soul.
Did you give your cat a bath in that, ahem, outfit?

defendAmerica,  December 13, 2009 6:35 PM

defendAmerica,  December 13, 2009 6:43 PM

As I posted earlier... I think on this thread... there is a woman just past the one minute mark in a blue jacket who was right behind me in line.

She was articulate and informed and it seems the only clip of her that he chose in one where she asks for more clarification on a question before she answered...

Not everyone who supports Sarah is connected with the issues facing the country or is able to articulate the reason for their support, but there is certainly an editing component to this video... and she is a good example.

I actually refused to be interviewed by this guy, because it was easy to see what he was looking for.

Sarah supporters are going to learn the hard way (and the same way that Sarah herself learned) that  you need to be clear and consistent in your message and not give the LSM soundbites that can be twisted, because that is exactly what will happen.

That was horrible.  if someone would have asked me about foreign policy I would have answered that "she would take no prisoners and get the US back where it was, a power to be reckoned with".  That's it, no problem.  Her policies that I like, she would follow the Constitution and some of this namby pamby political correctness would fall by the wayside.  The safety of the U.S. and its citizens should be first and foremost and if someone does not like it, they can choose one of the other countries in the world to live in.  That's it, end of story.

Bestbud,  December 13, 2009 6:46 PM

What's been happening since Gov. Palin's resignation is proof positive the left, the media, the elitists are... Scared!

Im looking forward to Sarah's next chapter with such anticipation... Im overwhelmed with emotions of the greatness of what America witnessed and we(ordinary common sense Patriotic Americans) knew all along.

Im reminded of Manajordan's writing following meeting Sarah at a book tour event when she said when approaching the table and wondering what to say or what It would be like... as she got nearer all of a sudden she Realized "I already knew her"... what a simple truth but what profound implications.

Having had Gods Blessing to meet Sarah I felt exactly that... I already knew her too!... and from my first hand encounters and observations with the thousands attending I know for a fact they felt the same way.

Sarah is called a Rock Star and It's not a fair way of characterizing her in my opinion... It conjures up a cult like following of shallow substance and extremism as the left tries to portray us.

A genuine, real, ordinary, unpretentious Lady Sarah and her Family are... an Honorable Public Servant with a Servants Heart of Gold Sarah Is.
We common sense Patriotic Americans who love her and what she represents are all just like her too... what a profound difference that is from the real rock star following our President has.

defendAmerica,  December 13, 2009 6:47 PM

these interviews also took place after being in line outside for at least 15 hours for all of these people (it was in the lower 20's that night and in the mid 30's during the day).  We were all cold and very tired.

The last interview I did I know I wasn't very coherent. Fortunately, it was for a pro-Sarah local news reporter. If I had been interviewed by a leftie, I might have been in trouble. I think that's what these lefties are counting on. First they cherry pick people who have been awake 24-28 hours, outside in the freezing cold, and then they cherry pick answers. It's sick. Of course, that's essentially perhaps what Ziegler did, huh?

Bruce,  December 13, 2009 7:08 PM

Axelrod: Sir, her book tour is over at last.

Obama: About time. Now maybe I can finish bankrupting the nation without her dominating the news cycle, driving my poll numbers down.

Axelrod: Um...sir...uh...

Obama: What is it?

Axelrod: She's back on Facebook now.

Tom_Ohio,  December 13, 2009 7:09 PM

God Bless this website, and also God Bless Governor Palin and her family.
Governor Palin is the ONE bright spot in the national American politics right now.
Sarah Palin, I want to tell you personally, and your family that YOU GUYS are what America needs ,and the brightness is that you have shown US that you do not need a title to make a change.
And yes, I mean not only me you and us, but the United States (US).
Your book is a godsend to all of America and others in other countries that have a love of Liberty and The Constitution.
Your work ethic and your love of God and Country have HAVE awakened the people that are listening and concerned; and it will WILL continue to do that.
We owe you and your family such a great debt of gratitude for this.
I hope to vote for Sarah Palin someday, but you have taught me and others that we have to do something NOW to help our Nation.
I appreciate that Governor, and I want to thank you for your and your family's work on this book tour.
You guy's ROCK !

Deidre,  December 13, 2009 7:16 PM

I haven't seen a supporter saying that she'll pay for the morgage and the gas in my car so I think we're safe.

Kjanlady,  December 13, 2009 7:19 PM

Face it guys, some people are not very good at expressing their reasons for supporting Sarah....maybe they should join us here on C4P .....get a real education....after all if they depend entirely on the lame stream media, they get no serious policy and or principle discussions.  If they don't read Facebook as avidly as we do, they don't get exposed to her message.

But I predict that 2010 will change a lot of that.....Sarah will be giving more public speeches, it's an election year and people will be paying a lot more attention to politics, and Oblamo's failed presidency will be clearly understood, unfortunately.  I do remember one C4P friend that gave  excellent answers when asked why he supported Sarah......Sapwolf.   Haven't seen him here for a while......must have gotten worn out by all his political activism in the last few months.

Kjanlady,  December 13, 2009 7:36 PM

Fellow C4P Barbarians,

I understand that there is a party on this site tonight in celebration of the highly successful Going Rogue Book Tour.  Attending will be ordinary barbarians from all across the country, a diverse group who intend to continue their natural tendency to act a little rogue by skipping the highly touted but equally sickening Christmas special.........Oprah's Christmas with the Obamas.

So in honor of Sarah Palin's recent award winning show....Signing Books and Meeting America, I Did It My Way......I going to open a bottle of wine and celebrate with friends......and forego the White House Christmas Show ....at least while I still have the right to turn off the tv.

Join me?

Recovering Democrat,  December 13, 2009 7:37 PM

Awesome video ... It was great to relive the memories. It's amazing how much has changed in just one short month. Thirty days ago, we were all sitting around eagerly awaiting the Oprah interview, hoping (praying) Sarah would shine like we knew she would. Everything about the interviews and the tour seemed to be blessed. Along the way Sarah won praise from the likes of Gayle King, Clarence Page, Chris Matthews, and even Joy Behar. Her poll numbers started climbing. It seemed to be a magical month, capped off with her triumphant return to her beloved Alaska.

I think what Sarah would most appreciate about her tour was the chance to meet so many everyday Americans ... and I count myself fortunate to be among them!

CruelaDev,  December 13, 2009 7:38 PM

yeah, the musicians were great. I didn't even notice the flute until I'd watched it a couple times... that was PERFECT. Do you think Sarah suggested the flute? It's so awesome!

Sheya,  December 13, 2009 8:31 PM

This video has been going around for a couple of days now, I have come across it many times. I believe the LSM new tactic is to present Palin supporters as total idiots and unaware of what’s going on.

The clip has obviously been edited to make it look like that, and the fact that out of 750-1000 people in line he presents the same 5-6 people means nothing. The women with the red shirt and black jacket, clearly seems to know what’s going on but has been edited to make her look dumb.

Put a camera and microphone in front of me, and ask me how to edit a video and upload to YouTube, the conversation would go something like this:

Q: Can you explain how to record from TV and upload to YouTube?
Me: Umm, well... ahh.. first you’d need something to record it with... Umm, you’d need the right cables... Umm, also it depends how you record it... What can I say... it’s kind of hard to explain... ahhh. What software do you have? Umm you’d need a capture thing... ummm ahhh you know... well... not sure how to explain it... it would be easier if I’d show you...

You get the point. I’d end up looking like a total moron who thinks windows is just something you open for fresh air.

I could probably answer any question presented to me regarding Governor Palin on any issue or topic in my sleep. (I jolly well hope so, anyway) but again put a camera and microphone in front of me after I’ve been waiting in line for 3 hours I am sure I’d stumble pretty bad. And my guess is that some of you guys might too.

lmg,  December 13, 2009 9:02 PM

I did not get to meet Sarah. The nearest book signings (Washington, PA and Rochester, NY) were a six hour drive away, and came the day after I had a minor medical procedure, so there was no way I would be able to make the trip and withstand the wait.

But from everything I have read and seen, she has a presence that is remarkable. The spirit of God is in her, and she gives people true hope for true change: Change in ourselves so we can be better people, and change in our country so we and our children can have a better life, if we are willing to put in the hard work that will be necessary to achieve these things. And she shows us that hard work can be invigorating and fun, rather than something to be avoided.

I think that's why people came - to be in that presence for a few moments, and to receive that sense of renewed hope for the future.

Ted Torgerson,  December 13, 2009 9:11 PM

Today's reading was about John the Baptist.

John answered them all, saying, "I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire.
17 His winnowing fan is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire."

The rest of Mass I could not stop imagining John McCain in a camel hair cloth eating a locust.

No 6 a big one, can't help thinking Sarah's PR attributed to It

No 7 was a bothersome one for me... after attending I realized how seeming lax It was, a least from what I observed and It scared the Bull Crap out of me

Hey!... just looked back at No. 3... "Defying Convention", like Going Rogue, is our mantra somebody mentioned we should have a convention... how about a "Defying Convention!"

Hey!... did I miss It?... seeing anything about you going to the  Dallas book signing!

Hey everyone sorry I'm late to this thread, I am sad and happy at the same time, sad that I didn't make any of the signings, but happy that Sarah can now rest and have a nice Christmas with her family and can recharge for 2010, she is gonna have a busy year, bet on it!  It was entertaining to hear about what Cruela wore to the booksigning maybe she can fill me in on more details later :)

" quite simply awesome!"... Im with you... Grateful for God blessing us with Sarah and her Family in such glorious ways!

I was commenting earlier and was struck by your reflection of what it was going to be like meeting Sarah and you said "I already knew her"... that's exactly my feeling, her father and mother the same way, matter of fact the whole book tour... It all just felt like a family affair, a reunion if you will, so connected to It, didn't have to belong to a social hierarchy or status!

God Bless and Merry Christmas

Sarahpac has moved up. Looks like the tour was probally put together , kept on schedule  including security by Jason , that was his speciality at the WH and there were a lot of Sarahpac people arround  at the stops. If i read right there were photos of every person thar Sarah shook hands with or signed a book and they are the property of Sarahpac. Given the improvment in her organization in the last few months i hope we see a major rehab of the web site to make it one of the best sites on the net.

Steve Lombardo apparently is a Huckabee shill.  He links to a liberal-produced video to discredit Palin supporters at a book-signing.
Then after Huckabee's fiasco in releasing murderous Clemmons, he tweets that Huckabee's poll numbers are "holding up surprisingly well".  Lombardo and LCGPolling, the agenda-driven pollster, couldn't spin it any harder if he were a whirling Dervish.

sheya... these people were near the beginning of the no wristband line.  they had all been there, standing in line without leaving, in the cold and without sleep for well over 15 hours.  AND several of them that I heard were very articulate in their answers, but each of them was interviewed for 5-10 minutes, so there was a lot to work with...

Nancy,  December 13, 2009 11:06 PM

Our pastor's sermon today was on God is a promise maker and God is a promise keeper.
He asked the congregation what do we think when someone makes a promise to you? The biggest factor: who is making the promise.? If they have shown themsleves to be trustworthy, you are hopeful, patient, waiting. If the person had not followed through in the past, you say to yourself: yeah, sure, or whatever, you don't put any stock in their words and probably forget about it.
God is a God who delivers on His promises. Isn't that comforting? Isn't that a great knowledge, to be able to KNOW, He will do what He promises?

On an earthly scale, a fallen man, landscape, on this political field, we survey, Governor Palin is the only person of national politics who I look at, that I can trust. Not that every campaign promise she makes will always be able to be realized. But, when she says she serves her constituents, I believe her, because her actions have shown that characteristic. When she resigns for the reasons she gave, I believe her, because she has lived up to other statements she has made. When she says, trust me, I do. Because, I look at who is making the statements, and who is asking me to trust her, and I am hopeful, I tend to wait and say, you are worthy of my trust, Governor Palin, because, you have earned it, and you do everything in your power, not to lose it.

Thank you, Governor Palin, for being a public servant, and for governing in such a way, as to make me for the first time in my life to be able to say, I trust a politician. I hear your words and I trust you, because you say what you mean, and you mean what you say, and you act on your words.

Who is saying it? You are different, in a very, very hopeful way!:)

Whitney,  December 13, 2009 11:16 PM

I have my answer prepared if anyone asks why I want Gov. Palin to be president. It is because that when she takes the oath of office and she says, " I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God (that last phrase isn't in there, but she will say it), she will actually mean it. I don't agree with every stance that the Governor takes nor every decision she makes. There are things that I wish she did differently. However, there is no other person out there whom I think would take the oath of office as seriously as she would nor is there any other politician who doesn't see themselves as a politician but as a public servant. The fact that Governor Palin is a four-eyed, brunette, runner, former point guard and flutist (just as I am) may have been what initially struck a cord with me, but all of the aforementioned factors are what made me fully support her.

Nancy,  December 13, 2009 11:17 PM

By the way, I missed the whole Obama/Oprah Christmas special.
I decided I would rather get the anvil we keep around the house for just such occasions. Throw it way up in the air, run underneath it, and let it crown me right in the head. Good times!

The Second time was when my Dad ran for County Commissioner...and the third time...Bet you can't guess it....

I was a delegate when I was 18 and an alternate to the National Convention...I did notget to go.. but the State Convention was fun... For any young folks out there...I urge you to get involved and participate in your local primaries and such...You will learn more out there than you will EVER learn in a class room!

Isn't it interesting that potential 2012 foes drop like flies before the race even gets going?

1. Sanford.

Sanford concerned me because he had conservative credentials. He totally imploded. One down.

2. Huckabee.

A guy he let walk years ago kills a bunch of people. Buh-bye. "Maybe I'll stay in my nice warm studio."

3. I wonder what will happen to Romney?

Oh, mu.

http://www.adn.com/news/politics/veco/story/1053359.html

<span>"Anchorage resident Lisa Moore says she traded sex with then-Veco boss Bill Allen in 1996 for an apartment, money and jewelry. He was 59; she was 19.</span>

<span>
<p>She also says she introduced him to a 15-year-old girl who became his sex partner.
</p><p>But the next year, an ex-boyfriend of Moore's got into legal trouble and threatened to blow the whistle on Allen's relationship with Moore and other teens, including the 15-year-old, Moore said, triggering a string of alleged cover-ups that now threaten to undermine the Alaska political corruption investigation.
</p><p>Allen's conduct with that underage girl and at least one other has been the subject of an active Anchorage police investigation since 2008. That inquiry developed more urgency last spring when a prosecutor with the Justice Department's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section joined local detectives in the case and began traveling to Anchorage to interview witnesses, including a visit just last week.
</p><p>But long before the authorities got involved, Allen reportedly went to great lengths to keep his sexual activities secret. When Moore told Allen she expected to be called as a witness at her ex-boyfriend's trial and forced to reveal Allen's seamy and possibly criminal private life, Allen immediately sent her, her brother and her fiance on the lam to California to prevent her from being subpoenaed, Moore told an Anchorage police detective and elaborated in recent interviews with the Daily News.
</p><p>That trip, characterized as a "potential obstruction of justice" when first made public in a federal court filing last month, are among the issues cited by former state House Speaker Pete Kott in his effort to throw out his conviction on corruption charges. Allen was a key witness in Kott's case, but Kott's lawyers weren't told by prosecutors about the California trip, which could have undermined Allen's credibility under cross-examination by a defense attorney.
</p><p>
</p><p>...
</p></span>

A,  December 14, 2009 12:49 AM

Make that... Oh, my....

id.

"<span>Kott's lawyer has also said Allen's credibility could have been challenged by other allegations that were known by the government at the time of Kott's trial but only recently revealed to the defense. Among them: new details about assertions by the underaged girl, Bambi Tyree, now 28, that she lied under oath about her relationship with Allen at Allen's request, and that Moore was asked by Allen's attorney to swear that Allen did not have sex with Tyree when she was 15, even though she said she observed it.</span>
<span>
<p>Allen has told FBI agents he never asked anyone to lie under oath or tried to hide witnesses to avoid subpoenas. "

LOL! I just got back from a trip to the Underworld. Saw this on the Mudflats:

"Kim Chatman, the Anchorage resident who filed the ethics comlaint about the existence of teh Alaska Fund Trust went to Elmendorf Air Force Base today, and stood on [in] line to meet Palin. Her 13-year-old daughter wore an Obama t-shirt and was frightened by a man who yelled at her. Yes, Obama the Commander in Chief. Apparently she had a stare-down with Willow who was there, while Kim met Palin. Wow."

Ha! I can just see Willow giving her the death-glare!

By the way, did you know that Gryphen and Diva paid to have lunch with TVF a couple days ago? They took the opportunity to talk about their Trig Truth.

Oh, and Tank was on Dan Fagan's show saying that the Douchebag General is putting the dirt he's got on Palin in his book. Bring it on, scumbag. Bring it on.

gelston the knowitall,  December 14, 2009 1:41 AM

I'll tell you, CruelaDev, I work with depends all year long.
I am always telling my dear old ladies to get them.
Do you know that medicare covers depends?
Do you know that more diapers are sold for adults than for babies?
But I have never seen depends with cartoon characters.
