Going Rogue goes Platinum; Print Run Increased to 2.8 Million
The AP reports:
NEW YORK — "Going Rogue" has gone platinum.
HarperCollins spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Tuesday that just two weeks after publication, Sarah Palin's memoir has sold 1 million copies. The print run for "Going Rogue" has been increased again, to 2.8 million copies. The original printing was 1.5 million, then moved up to 2.5 million.
"Going Rogue" joins a select club of million-selling political memoirs that includes Barack Obama's "The Audacity of Hope," Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Living History" and Bill Clinton's "My Life."

1. They list only Dems books.
2. They don't list how long the Dem books took to get to a million. Was it as fast as 2 weeks?
3. I thought BO's sales to a million included both his books and audios combined, not just Audacity?

I don't know much about stocks or investiments, but from what I can tell, total returns % are up 28.5% in 2009.

The story about her book reaching the NYT and USATODAY best sellers were similar. I don't know that any Republicans have sold that many books; conservative talk show hosts are a different story though. I don't know how long it took the Clintons and Obama to reach 1 million, but I think Bill Clinton sold 900.000 his first week, so I would think he reached that total pretty quickly.

Wow that is amazing. 1 million is a lot of freaking books. I love it. She might not win everyone over who reads the book, but I think those people with fair and open minds will have a change of heart about her and give her a shot. I think that's already happening. Congrats on the book's success Governor Palin!
Does this mean that Obama will live up to his normal MO and give a special "shout out" to Governor Palin for her book sales during his war strategy speech when he gets to the part of withdrawal before victory?

Both 0bama's books combined has sold about 1.5 million copies in all versions hardcover, paperback, audio. Hillary took one month to hit 1 million, her book was #1 at Amazon for less than 2 weeks. After that sales dropped like a rock. Bill took close to a month to sell 1 million, and has sold a total of about 1.5 million, Hillary's total about 1.2 million, and they've each been out for years. Hopefully, Going Rogue will hit close to 2 million by the end of the year. HarperCollins must really have fait that it will if they are printing an additional 300,000. Mark Levin's book Liberty and Tyranny has sold over 1 million, but its been out since March. Going Rogue will set a record that any non-fiction book will have trouble beating. Nancy Pelosi's book has sold only about 5,000 copies, and most of her book signing events were cancelled due to lack of interest even at the first signing.

That is due to two things:
1) Historically HUGE amounts of money pumped into the banking/business/government by the Federal Reserve, combined with
2) Ridiculously low Discount Rate and Fed Funds Rate.
When liquidity is insanely high, it is almost always pumped into the Stock Market.
If inflation goes up and/or they raise rates to sell more federal government debt, you will see gains cashed in and the market stabilize or drop some.
Only question left: How many Going Rogue books can we expect to see on the coffee tables and book shelves at the ACORN offices across the country?
Well it's only another 300,000 copies, so she may have to switch to regular unleaded for the jet.

I have been trying to find some data on the current rint numbers for The Audacity of Hope but no luck yet. Apparently sales increased when he own the presidency. Also it appears that a chinese translation of obama's book is selling like hot cakes in China.
I'm sure that there will be a FB post following his speech, especially if he doesn't use either the words "victory" or "win".
Now would be a good time for HarperCollins to announce that they are adding an additional week or 10 days to her tour, hitting antoher 15 to 20 stops.

keep in mind the economy is in pretty bad shape and consumer spending is down acorss the board, especially in books. So the total is even more impressive. A lot of the other books came out in much better economic climates. Unemployment was 4.5% when Obama's book came out, 5.5% when Clinton's came out. It's 10.5% now.

I don't think she needs to do a ""Going Rogue 2" tour. She needs to get back to Alaska and recuperate and come back in 2010 with good read policy book. Then the liberals will be even more upset.
I bet she is looking forward to spending the holidays with her family ans some down time to work on the speaking circuit. Todd will have her home office completed and she can start on phase 2 of her bing plans to bring common sense conservatism to the lower 48.

All printings will be "First Edition" and will say "First Printing" or "Second Printing" etc, but are still considered first editions.
A "Second Edition" would only be published if major changes/additions/new cover were made to the original "Going Rogue" years from now.
Not bad for a crappy book that is full of lies!
