Going Rogue in Iowa

Before heading to Sioux City Iowa today for the first of two book signings, Governor Palin spent some time visiting with wounded troops at Walter Reed Hospital, and she tweeted the following earlier today:

Leaving Walter Reed Hosp;met America's finest;seeing these young soldiers who sacrifice so much changes your life/puts things in perspective

According to Fox News, this delayed her arrival in Iowa a bit but did nothing to tone down enthusiasm for her visit:

Sarah Palin was delayed on her way to Iowa Sunday as the former Republican vice presidential candidate got a late start from Washington, D.C., after visiting with wounded soldiers at Walter Reed hospital.

The delay did nothing to dampen anticipation for Palin's arrival, whose visit to Sioux City is more than just the next stop in her national book tour but is being closely watched for any indications about a future presidential bid. Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses traditionally launch the presidential nominating season.

Huge crowds waited at Barnes & Noble book store, even lining up in the parking lot overnight, huddled in blankets to protect themselves from temperatures in the teens. Supporters arrived from such distance places as Texas, Ohio, North Dakota and Nebraska.

For more on her trip to Iowa, go here and here. In addition, we have the following two videos from Sioux City:

As soon as she was finished in Sioux City, Governor Palin headed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where another book signing will take place this evening.

Gov. Palin is rolling...shining brighter and brighter each day.

Say, I notice that on the "unofficial" schedule on main page, last date is Dec 10. Isn't she supposed to have book signing in AK also? Any further schedule info?

I put a lot on the Sioux stops on the next thread, and some on prior threads.

Sarah will say something about PEARL HARBOR day, since visiting our troops at Walter Reed, and also will say a little something about that Nobel Peace Prize the president is off to get.

Sarah 2012!

What a wonderful two weeks it has been. She has certainly reconnected.

And, gosh, she is looking fabulous. I've never said that before, ever :).

I really think that Sarah Palin has captured the imagination of the conservative base of the GOP, which IMHO she would have eventually captured anyway, but what the Going Rogue tour has done has allowed her to capture the hearts and minds of independent conservatives and what Huckabee's potential demise has allowed her the opportunity to tap into some of Huck's evangelical support. All in all a tremendous timely tour of America.

There was wonderful vou coverage by the S City paper. See the prior threads.

Cudos to The Journal.

I was talking to some of my friends back here in Australia. At first they were ambivalent towards Sarah but now they support her.

But a Presidential run is another thing. They are skeptical that Sarah will ever become President knowing what the MSM in the US did to her last year.

What will it take for Sarah to overcome this skepticism?

I hope someone got her some Fly SUX souvenirs.

I love Sioux City.

This month Sarah shakes 50,000 hands.

She has 35 months left.

Sarah will shake millions of hands.

She doesn't only sign and shake. She meets people. She connects.

Can Sarah make retail politics work nationally? You betcha.

35 months to go.

Millions to meet and greet.

I wish I had records of what they did to Reagan before he ran. The media was very brutal to Reagan as well. Called him nothing but a "B rated actor" and very dismissive of him, but he went on tours just like Sarah. I am a Reagan democrat, now a Palin Democrat.

Please keep doing what you are doing and promoting Sarah, the media at this point is irrelevant. Think about it this way. The only power the media has to shape people's opinion is the that power that the people allow the media to have over their opinions.

If the media says something ignorant about Sarah, if people don't believe the media, they no longer have the power to shape that person's opinions about Sarah (or any other matter for that matter.)

Just keep doing what you are doing, any bad rumors about Sarah, set it straight at every opportunity. And time you can promote Sarah and her pro-America ideas, promote them.

Aussie, all she has to do is just be herself. She is an enormous talent; she wins people over. Last night (Sat. night) she went into the snake pit, with people who creamed her last year, not knowing much about her. What she did last night, what she has done the last couple of weeks--meeting and talking to people on her own terms, no shackles--will help enormously to protect her against what happened last fall. They (the media) won't agree with her of course, they are committed ideologically to the Dems, but they won't be able to do to her again what they did last time. The playing field will be more level; and if wants it and runs, she will clean up.

Hey, anybody see any links to feedback about her trip to Walter Reed Hosp in DC this morning?

it's a revival going on on the US. Not a spiritual one, and not specifically a conservative one.

it's a revival of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

and Sarah is the catalyst.

panchita, December 6, 2009 8:25 PM

Aussie:Sarah is going to finish the book tour, headline the Tea party gathering in feb 2010 and then help elect conservatives. the beautiful thing is she can continue to post on facebook and get her message out. During this time she will have assessed whether the people want her to run. In addition she is currently buffing up on policy issues, international affairs and supreme court decisions.
eventually she will have to sit down and get picked at by the lsm. thats when the rubber hits the road. she will have to show substantiveness. i have every expectation she will do well.
Either way her impact on the american political scene will be transformative.

The God of Sarah, our Creator, the Creator of the Universe and all that is in it will continue bless Sarah, His word says,

I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand....
Isaiah 41:10-13

I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.
Isaiah 45:2

I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
Revelation 3:8
God bless Sarah, Todd, Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, Trig and Tripp in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Blessings, Irma

Its also a revival of freedoms.........

Sarah 2012!

militantfeather, December 6, 2009 8:37 PM

In America the media are extremely biased against Republicans. It would be very hard to understand this degree of partisanship in Australia (I have lived in Australia). So the media will try to destroy any republican candidate, and as Sarah is pretty well bullet-proof now, they will be more successful in tearing down other potential nominees WHEN (or IF) they are nominated, eg, they would have a ball with Romney or Huckabee. So, yes the media does have an influence, BUT republicans still win, because the electorate is basically centre-right and somewhat used to the bias.

That is my predictions......trifecta!

Sarah 2012!

AussieforSarah, December 6, 2009 9:02 PM

I think what changed my Australian friends minds is her visit with Billy Graham and her videos talking about her faith. Her faith is truly genuine.

She is the real deal.

MarkRNY, December 6, 2009 9:40 PM

And the media has O wrapped around their necks like a cement block. His fortunes are their fortunes, and it ain't lookin good. They forced him down our throats like never before and threw away what little cred they had left. It was a suicide mission. Now he's theirs.

O and Sarah could be their swan song--REALLY this time. She's the 1st Repub/Conservative with the guts/brains to treat them like the bought and paid for hacks that they are. The others--Rom, T'Paw (has he ever been officially declared "Alive" btw?), Huck, etc. will call them out (kind of) in front of a friendly audience, then smile and shake their heads. She does it to their faces and makes it clear that it matters and that she's pissed off--for the Country's sake!

And look at the crowds she's gathering! O, just keep being you.

gelston the knowitall, December 6, 2009 9:43 PM

i agree very strongly.
I doubt that the visit can be underestimated.
Rev Graham invited her. She did not have to stand barefoot in the snow.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 6, 2009 9:53 PM

Wonderful...Thanks, Irma, and God bless!!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 6, 2009 9:54 PM

Real. True. Beautiful. Strong. Fearless.

Thanks, Aussie!!

MarkRNY, December 6, 2009 9:56 PM

It's been a masterpiece in every way. I like the way the "Conservative Activist" throws in the caviat that "It doesn't necessarily mean that they want her as a candidate" lol. Yeah! They camp out in the freezing cold, stand in line for hours, come from hundreds of miles away to see someone they might not vote for. This is Beltway wisdom at its finest. He looks like a guy who has the pulse of the average American too--

Off with his head!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 6, 2009 9:57 PM

Agreed, James: Just be herself!!!!

narciso, December 6, 2009 10:26 PM

What was the phrase, you came up with Brianus, in Latin, and doesn't that just typify that picture of her in the snow flurry in Fairfax, 'pulchra pugnifica'. She shows courtesy to the office, but a withering appraisal of the office holder's tenure. Something Huck and Romney can't do. because they don't believe it. I was in a local bookstore tonight,, and I perused Continetti's account of the campaign and after. I had to put it down, because it made me so angry.

Bestbud, December 7, 2009 12:28 AM

What's been my simple take after following Sarah for 18 mo. now is this... I WILLINGLY give her My TRUST, not having to think ahead as to her ever ABUSING THAT TRUST... never had a politician in my life time do for me what Sarah has done... I've never given so willingly of my time and money... and I don't see it stopping--mater of fact all I see is It increasing in intensity.

I go back to a story I have commented on here on C4P in the past... really two stories that sum up my complete and unequivocal Trust in and for Sarah... One involves her father Chuck when Sarah was running for Governor and if you haven't seen any of her campaigning during that time... please do so... It says it all!... ordinary, grass roots, in your back yard stuff... setting in lawn chairs. Sarah had essentially run all her elected offices this very same way so she knew it worked for her.... back to Chuck Heath, he was interviewed in one of these home spun campaign settings and said this..."I'll guarantee you, you can TRUST her!... and he said it as if to say it was the most important and proudest thing he had ever taught her.
Second story involves Sarah going to meet with a group that she knew didn't support her and after completing the meeting.... knowing she had not changed any minds... said to them (paraphrasing)... though we don't agree, I will guarantee you this!... my door will always be open and I will always listen to you!.... the next day they showed up and picked up her campaign signs.... they TRUSTED HER!

When she was introduced in Ohio 2008 and her VP speech ... I heard and saw something so different and compelling it was literally foreign in the nature of politics to me... would have never thought it possible after a life time of look-alike and sound-alike political figures.... I gave willingly my trust 18 mo. ago and it has done nothing but sky rocket ever since.

God Bless Sarah and Family and the good old USA.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for Gov. Sarah Palin...a woman after your own heart. Thank you for protecting her and her family from any danger and harm. She walks in your wisdom, favor, grace, mercy and love. No enemy will be able to prevail against her. If God is on her side, who can be against her? She was created to lead, and lead she will...in Jesus' name.
