Two New Facebook Notes From Governor Palin

Governor Palin just posted two Facebook Notes. The most recent involves the Climategate scandal:

The president’s decision to attend the international climate conference in Copenhagen needs to be reconsidered in light of the unfolding Climategate scandal. The leaked e-mails involved in Climategate expose the unscientific behavior of leading climate scientists who deliberately destroyed records to block information requests, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and conspired to silence the critics of man-made global warming. I support Senator James Inhofe’s call for a full investigation into this scandal. Because it involves many of the same personalities and entities behind the Copenhagen conference, Climategate calls into question many of the proposals being pushed there, including anything that would lead to a cap and tax plan.

Policy should be based on sound science, not snake oil. I took a stand against such snake oil science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population has increased. I’ve never denied the reality of climate change; in fact, I was the first governor to create a subcabinet position to deal specifically with the issue. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. But while we recognize the effects of changing water levels, erosion patterns, and glacial ice melt, we cannot primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes. The drastic economic measures being pushed by dogmatic environmentalists won’t change the weather, but will dramatically change our economy for the worse.

Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public’s worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a “sin” against the planet. In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to “restore science to its rightful place.” Boycotting Copenhagen while this scandal is thoroughly investigated would send a strong message that the United States government will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices. Saying no to Copenhagen and cap and tax are first steps in “restoring science to its rightful place.”

- Sarah Palin

Immediately prior to the above Facebook Note, Governor Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, released the following statement following the dismissal of two more of the frivolous "ethics" complaints filed by the deranged anklebiters in Alaska:

When the Governor announced her decision to resign on July 3, she pointed out the then 15 frivolous ethics complaints that had been filed against her and dismissed. It was intended to explain, in part, her decision to resign as well to educate the public about the abuse of the Alaska Ethics Act through a repetitive stream of baseless partisan accusations, each one seemingly more pointless and frivolous than the next. The Governor’s message was not intended as an invitation to run off half-cocked and file more baseless ethics complaints, but not everyone understood that message—or wanted to understand. In August 2009, largely in response to the abuse of Alaska’s Ethics Act by partisan shills and low level lackeys, the Attorney General issued an opinion recommending changes to the Ethics Act ”to prevent another potential harm—abuse of the process. Some Alaskans have argued that the Ethics Act has been used inappropriately in some circumstances to politically damage the subject of the complaint.” (August 5, 2009 Attorney General Opinion). That argument was asserted by the Anchorage Daily News. “Our View: Abuse of Ethics Complaints Turns Good Law Into Bad Politics,” Anchorage Daily News, May 3, 2009. The Attorney General further recommended “another safeguard to discourage habitual complaint filers who use the Ethics Act process to harass executive branch employees. Statutory amendments could provide authority to the personnel board to decline to process further complaints filed by a person who has abused the Act in this way.” Though it is encouraging to see an impartial evaluation of the problem, it is ultimately up to the Legislature to implement any of these recommended changes. Governor Palin has been subjected to 24 ethics complaints, several lawsuits, and dozens and dozens of public information act requests, few of which raised even a scintilla of a good faith issue, and most of which were simply done to garner a headline or promote opposition research for political gain.

Recently we learned that two more ethics complaints against Governor Palin have been dismissed—complaints that were filed after the Governor announced her plans to step down. One complaint asserted that it was unethical for the state to follow its own per diem regulations and pay per diem to the Governor as set forth by law. Of course, the complainant conveniently overlooked that the Governor and her family received less per diem than they were entitled to under State law—why let such details stand in the way of an ethics complaint? The other complaint that was dismissed asserted that the Governor, through me, supposedly violated the constitution because we informed a person who falsely implied that the Governor was “under investigation” by the FBI, that such statements are defamatory. It is notable to watch those who agitate on all things Palin—locally and even across the Atlantic—as they Huff and puff falsehoods about Sarah Palin under the guise of free speech, which brings us to a teachable moment. All too often we hear about constitutional rights—as we should—but many forget about constitutional responsibilities. As citizens we have both rights and responsibilities. Though we have the right to exercise free speech, we have the responsibility to exercise that right without defaming people. I like the way our Alaska Constitution describes it: “Every person may freely speak, write, and publish on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of that right.” Ak. Const. Art. I, Sec. 5. The irony of filing an ethics complaint because of a reminder about the constitutional parameters of free speech is no doubt lost on those consumed by irrationality when it comes to Sarah Palin; but one does not need an ethics law to know that positive political discourse depends on a robust debate about facts and the policy implications stemming from such facts. The nation is not helped by calumnious ad hominem attacks against Sarah Palin, matrilineal conspiracy theories and aberrant notions of ethics.

FACEBOOK, the making of a President.

A great post and right on point.

SARAH PALIN 2012

Steven,  December 3, 2009 8:02 PM

We need President Palin now.

Recovering Democrat,  December 3, 2009 8:02 PM

Wow, that was a STRONG post about Climategate. But of course, all Madame 45's posts are strong and unequivocating. She's the anti-Obama.

I'm going to a Christmas program for my daughter's second-grade class.

Dead tired from the trip and camping outside, but I'm eager to document the experience when I get back from the school event tonight.

toughluck,  December 3, 2009 8:06 PM

All hail the goddess of the artic!

Finally! A hold no punches statement against the idiocy of taxing human activities because of the fear of increasing CO2 levels. What? are we going to tax breathing next? (no, just streneous activity that increases CO2 production.. like sex, and yes having babies is bad because it increases population..rubbish!)

and yes! I own an SUV and it prodly displays its Palin bumper sticker.

lmg,  December 3, 2009 8:06 PM

Van Flein has a sense of humor, too. Did you catch his two digs at certain bloggers toward the end?

DoingTheDeal,  December 3, 2009 8:10 PM

That was a good post by the lawyer and a great post regarding Climategate. Sarah is starting to put a little pressure directly on to Obama. Good move.

latinchic,  December 3, 2009 8:12 PM

Type, type, type, SLAP.

Love it.

BTW, the "Huff and Puff" line was awesome. A dig at Huffington Post, among others, methinks.

toughluck,  December 3, 2009 8:12 PM

huff and puff (Huffington Post?) and low level lackeys and shills (Andre Mcleaod?) :)

although he needs to be careful not to stop being 'lawyerly' and becoming too familiar and make the same mistake the lawyar for Huckabee did while in office and call some one's concerns  9prosecutor on Clemmons pardon) 'laughable'.. its best to remain a little dry and formal.

Beehive,  December 3, 2009 8:15 PM

The Guv did an interview with Rusty Humphries today. You have to listen to this. Is there anyway we can post it here.

She talks about very interesting things.

<span>Sarah on Rusty Humphries

toughluck,  December 3, 2009 8:15 PM

So van Flein mentions 24 complaints total, 20 have been dismissed, does that leave 4 unaccounted for?

What about the one where she could not use her defense fund to pay his lawyerly fees, is that one still outstanding?

And why would he release that statement now? Nothing has come up on this issue.. what prompted it?

Lakerfanalways,  December 3, 2009 8:15 PM

WOW LOVE the smackdown about the global warming BS..Sarah is on a rolll tonight

Andrew,  December 3, 2009 8:18 PM

When 2013 comes around, after the searing in of Madam President Palin in January, and HBO looks to do a special on the "Making of a Woman President"...

All they're going to have show is a slideshow of Facebook screen shots.

Beehive,  December 3, 2009 8:18 PM

You guys you have to listen to that Rusty Humphries interview. Wow.

She was really good.

toughluck,  December 3, 2009 8:19 PM

<span>So van Flein mentions 24 complaints total, 20 have been dismissed, does that leave 4 unaccounted for? or only 2 (if we count the recently two being dismissed)

johnfromcanada,  December 3, 2009 8:26 PM

Wow! Sarah hits EXACTLY the right note about Copenhagen.  As always, full of common sense.  Copenhagen is a now waste of time  anyway because  there's no way anything signed there will get ratified  by Congress (or any other nation's legislature and/or parliament).

BTW, did you notice that even Al Gore has backed out of Copenhagen?

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 8:29 PM

Excellent post by Sarah, I just love the way she uses Obama's words against him.
Washington Post is reporting that the Goracle has skipped out on Copenhagen - I guess he's having a hard time coming to grips with the "Inconvenient Truth".  Obama should bail too.

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 8:31 PM

<span>Excellent post by Sarah, I just love the way she uses Obama's own words against him.
And since the Goracle has skipped out on Copenhagen (I guess he's having a hard time coming to grips with the "Inconvenient Truth" - Obama should bail too.</span>

manajordan,  December 3, 2009 8:37 PM

That was an excellent smack down on Climategate! It hits the right notes.

I was impressed with Van Fleins statement also.

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 8:41 PM

I love the smell of vindication in the morning...

Mary Beth (Über),  December 3, 2009 8:41 PM

Awesomeness!

And the media won't be able to help themselves and will have to report some of her perceived "over the top" rhetoric, which will of course do nothing but serve Sarah's purposes and get the message of this scandal out there and breach the media blackout.

Palin/West 2012

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 8:44 PM

Oh yeah, I did. AS and SM, you two really have gone over the cliff recently.

Nancy,  December 3, 2009 8:44 PM

She makes it really difficult for the losers in The White House not to talk about her.

LGS,  December 3, 2009 8:49 PM

Thanks for pointing this out! A great interview!! Loved the questions and the answers!

Nancy,  December 3, 2009 8:51 PM

My husband says our Suburban is a middle finger to The Once.
Sinful!:)
I guess we are the driving middle finger.

terri,  December 3, 2009 8:53 PM

I'm telling ya, she's sounding more"presidential" with each facebook post.

BetseyRoss,  December 3, 2009 8:54 PM

Well, they haven't said much lately.  If I were the WH, I would say nothing about Sarah.  They can't refute her, so she doesn't exhist.  Then she goes about the business of running for President and speaking truth to power.  She's got 'em.  There isn't much they can do.  Every day she is down here in the lower 48, they keep loosing ground.

Nancy,  December 3, 2009 8:56 PM

Isn't she going to be right in the lion's den tomorrow night at that dinner?

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 8:57 PM

While Obama get's less Presidential every passing day...

johnfromcanada,  December 3, 2009 8:57 PM

Listened to the interview. It was very good. I think it must take all of Sarah's self-restraint to keep from shouting out,   "I'M RUNNING FOR POTUS!"  I don't think it's just folks here that want it to happen.  I really get the feeling now that she wants it badly. Plus there's all that encouragement she's getting on the tour; all that talk about taking back the nation.  There's almost no doubt in my mind that, barring some terrible unforseen event, she's going to run. I would be shocked if she didn't.

GAHanson,  December 3, 2009 9:00 PM

Somewhere, Romeny, Pawlenty, Gingrich, and others are huddled with their advisors going over a list of things they have to do prior to declaring themselves officially a candidate:

1.  Write two bestsellers
2.  Get a personality.
3.  Get some courage.
4.  Grow a spine.
5.  Grow some balls.
6.  Become charasmatic

That should be easy enough to do, right?

It must be tough on these guys to read about the wildly enthusiastic crowds sleeping outdoors with temps below freezing, reading about maximum capacity crowds, reading about 1 million plus copies of her book being sold in 2 weeks, reading her Facebook notes.  Sarah Palin is a tough act to follow.

lmg,  December 3, 2009 9:01 PM

...and even across the Atlantic

manajordan,  December 3, 2009 9:06 PM

I love how these facebook posts are like a written response to a debate question. I'm looking forward to seeing the live version someday.

Amanda K,  December 3, 2009 9:09 PM

Wow.  I agree, if there is any way to post this here, that would be awesome.

bitterclinger,  December 3, 2009 9:10 PM

O/T But Don Surber did a nice piece on Sarah (w/pix) today.  He's quite the fan.  Wasn't sure anyone put it up.

cookboy,  December 3, 2009 9:12 PM

Nicely done. It is a shame that this big stink had to occur in order for people to wake up to something that should be so painfully obvious. Anyone with the combination of arrogance and stupidity required to think that the earth is in any danger from mankind oughta have the decency to save said planet by stepping off of it.

cookboy,  December 3, 2009 9:18 PM

As one who starts his Suburban before loading the groceries, or anything else, I wouldn't waste the energy to raise a finger to that mook. But I understand his sentiment.

juju,  December 3, 2009 9:20 PM

I think that one is still outstanding.  I read somewhere that the invesigation and their report saying she needed to return the money was not legit......The author of what I read said you she couldn't be quilty because she had not used anything from the fund and until she used it she had done nothing unethical.

Mia,  December 3, 2009 9:22 PM

hehehe....Hey O'Blabla & O'GorBore...You've been 'Cuda Smacked!...hehe..

lmg,  December 3, 2009 9:39 PM

I'm concerned, though. In an effort to bypass the LSM, will her inauguration be Tweeted? Will her State of the Union be given before a joint session of Congress, or just posted on Facebook?

He capitalized Huff and puff, I took that to mean Huffington Post, Shannyn Moore.
Clever little digs there. Maybe taunting them into something stupid?

Recovering Democrat,  December 3, 2009 9:50 PM

With one post, Sarah makes Obama's upcoming trip a referendum on his common sense, while highlighting her own record as a common sense leader (creating climate change panel).

Kjanlady,  December 3, 2009 9:53 PM

Thank you Sarah.  I hope this climategate post goes viral and is talked about on every talk radio show tomorrow plus every cable news show in every station.  In fact I hope that climategate becomes the number one topic for the next week with dozens of scientists or others working for these snake-oil salesmen coming forward with more evidence of the charade.

If Obama goes to Copenhagen under these conditions he will become the laughing stock of the world.....or at least the few countries that haven't been laughing at him for the last 12 months.  He cannot justify attending a conference that even Al Gore bolted from.

Between this and his peace prize boondoggle, even the Dimocrats would probably abandon him.

CharterOakie,  December 3, 2009 9:56 PM

I do love that magnificent lady and thank God for her courage and commitment.  And all her other qualities.

Good night and God bless, barbarians.

Hope that lots of Okies are getting books signed and meeting Sarah right now.

Brian72,  December 3, 2009 10:01 PM

I had a '77 Suburban, with the 454 big block engine, dual exhaust and glasspack mufflers. That thing was loud and proud, would pull a house up a mountain. The body started rusting away, but that motor never quit on me. A guy I knew bought the truck so he could put that 454 in his '69 Camaro drag car. As far as I know it's still running somewhere.

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 10:04 PM

<p><span><span>I like it - but I am worried a little bit about her answer on the birth certificate thing being fair game – that could come back and cause her a little bit of a problem. </span></span></p>

gardunne63,  December 3, 2009 10:13 PM

What ever Sarah pays Thomas is not enough, IMO.   He'd make a great Attorney General for Pres Palin.

gardunne63,  December 3, 2009 10:16 PM

Nancy - I have a Rush Limbaugh-adoring friend who, on every Earth Day, goes home and rides his huge Chevy truck around his town for the hell of it and then goes home and turns on the motor of his fishing boat for an exclamation point!

OldDude,  December 3, 2009 10:18 PM

Great post on Climategate...what a scam.  Just in for a couple of days so catching up on bits and pieces...General Tata's article was great...no equivocation and nailed the dithering consequences...talk about POTUS micromanagement from someone with ABSOLUTELY no understanding or appreciation of military science.

Oh yeah, thanks for all the giggles but please!  No more Barney Frank visuals..Really Sisters...I'm begging you!

Kjanlady,  December 3, 2009 10:25 PM

Facebook posting on Hot Air and Gateway Pundit

Tomorrow should be interesting.

New unemployment numbers come out soon.  I expect we will see new Facebook post on that and Obama's Job Summit soon.

LOL ... True, I mean in all seriousness she quit her job as governor of Alaska to become the REAL leader of the free world. By the time she's innaugurated in 2013, she'll already have 3 1/2 years under her belt as the shadow president.

<span>Perhaps Congress will mandate prison-time for 'criminals' who don't turn their thermostats down to 58 degrees. That'll go nicely with their plan to jail 'criminals' for not buying ObamaCare.

Three prisoners are in the jail yard.
Prisoner #1 asks prisoner #2:"What are you in for?"
Prisoner #2: "I got 10 years for armed robbery. How about you?"
Prisoner #1: "I got 20 years for murder."
Turning to Prisoner #3,they both ask: "What are YOU in for?"
Prisoner #3: "Sighhh! ...They threw the book at me.I'm in for life for not buying ObamaCare AND getting caught with my thermostat at 72 degrees."</span>

definitely wasn't her best moment (now that I listened to it) and will be brought back to haunt her if she runs against him in 2012.  I know birthers, and I'm not one; and this is really disheartening.  I feel there are so many more pressing issues right now and he's president so the whole birth certificate thing shouldn't even be discussed.  Also, Hot Air found a paper clipping from Hawaii that showed Obama's birth announcemant.....

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 11:05 PM

Well I brought it up earler that it might cause her some greif but my post somehow got deleted.  And I agree, I think it may have caught her off guard.  She will have to address this.

She needs to come out with a statement right now and clarify this

Zephyr,  December 3, 2009 11:09 PM

Beehive,  December 3, 2009 11:10 PM

You are being rogue tonight. That's just yucky yucky and you know it.

God I'm tired. I've been trying to bring down the walls of Jericho over at Hot Air. They are so owned by the Trolls that I am suprised that Michelle keeps it alive.

A,  December 3, 2009 11:11 PM

Sarah was asked a question. She answered it.

Sarah has not asked me what she should think or say, so I don't tell her.

It is refreshing to have a politician who tell us what she thinks, and if she dies, she dies.

Sarah is not politically correct.

Listen to the whole interview. Sarah is a woman from Wasilla telling us what she thinks about every issue she is asked about.

Refreshing.

gelston the knowitall,  December 3, 2009 11:11 PM

well, there is good in everything.
now we know why Gov Palin does not post here. RAM said no birthers allowed.

Recovering Democrat,  December 3, 2009 11:13 PM

We can all do the Jailhouse Rock :)

A,  December 3, 2009 11:13 PM

I don't think Sarah was caught off guard. She knew that some day someone would ask her a real question about something other that the usual 6 or so.  She may not have expected that question then, but she knew it was coming.

Sarah thinks ahead far more than people think.

Recovering Democrat,  December 3, 2009 11:14 PM

I think this just shows her libertarian streak. Why should she denouce what private citizens are doing in questioning their own president?

Deidre,  December 3, 2009 11:17 PM

i have a feeling she will address this....the MSM will not let this little nugget die down.

PatrickinOH,  December 3, 2009 11:17 PM

Sarah is not a birther I think what she was saying in the context that if people can question whether Trig is really her son why can't people question Obama?  Sarah did not say she thinks Obama is not a citizen I think you should leave now so get the hell out

Andrew,  December 3, 2009 11:18 PM

The Governor is not a birther.  If she was, she wouldn't call Obama Mr. President.  She's merely saying that since the media scrutinized everything about her--including her uterus--the American population has a right to question and scrutinize everything about their elected officials, including past associations and attempts to hide documents.

PatrickinOH,  December 3, 2009 11:20 PM

I mean, truly, if your past is fair game and your kids are fair game, certainly Obama’s past should be. I mean, we want to treat men and women equally, right?
Hey, you know, that’s a great point, in that weird conspiracy-theory freaky thing that people talk about that Trig isn’t my real son. And a lot of people say, “Well you need to produce his birth certificate! You need to prove that he’s your kid!” Which we have done. But yeah, so maybe we could reverse that and use the same [unintelligible]-type thinking on them.

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 11:20 PM

Ben Smith @ Politico seems to have a different take on what she was saying and where she was going.
Smith:  Palin suggested that the questions were fair play because of "the weird conspiracy theory freaky thing that people talk about that Trig isn't my real son -- 'You need to produce his birth certificate, you need to prove that he's your kid,' which we have done."
"Maybe we can reverse that," she said, returning to Obama's birth certificate, describing the type of thinking involved with a word that isn't clear in the audio.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1209/Palin_Obama_birth_certificate_a_fair_question.html?showall
Still, Sarah will need to clarify this.

I think she was supporting people's freedom to speak...they can speak (question) about that too.  It's different than saying "I question if he was born in the USA".  The media is going to take of context anyway.  The media has little credebility left.

AmeriCuda,  December 3, 2009 11:22 PM

Wow. I'm surprised she wouldn't slap that nonsense down the moment it was broached.
The birther issue is a huge loser and if she doesn't come out and explain this away
quickly, it's going to hurt her. As stands this is worrisome.

I love this comment on Hot Air regarding this whole development:

Watch Palin survive this.
All you eeyores are ridiculous. She’s making a comparison of the idiocy of the left questioning the legitimacy of her child to the birthers. Since it was such “fair game” for people of the MSM to question her son’s “real birth mother” then Obama’s birth certificate if fair game.
Good Lord, you guys make a big deal without actually listening to the statements and thinking before you comment.

A,  December 3, 2009 11:33 PM

How about this, folks?

<span><span>The birthers love them some Sarah Palin. She's the most popular politician in the mix with them at 66% favorability. Next is Mike Huckabee at 58%, followed by Newt Gingrich at 46%, and Mitt Romney at 43%.</span>

<span>I mean this with all sincerity- Romney's lack of popularity with the birther wing of the GOP really could scuttle his chances at the nomination</span><span> <span><span><span></span></span></span></span><span>in three years.</span>

<span>Looking at the numbers from another angle- 63% of all Americans with a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin are birthers. Same thing with 53% of those who like Gingrich, 50% who view </span><span>Huckabee positively, and 44% for Romney.</span>

Remember when W. said 'some people call you the elites, I call you my base?' Swap out birthers for elites and you've got the makings of a great Palin speech.</span>

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 11:34 PM

Hmmm...that is a good point....if only that is the way that the LSM would take it, but I fear that they will misconstrue it. We shall see.

I think that she is about true transparency and openness.

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 3, 2009 11:34 PM

I don't know why you guys are this worried?  An american citizen has every right to ask for the real BC to be shown, not some Certificate of Live Birth.

Sarah said it correctly, if public officials have to reveal everything, that applies to EVERY elected public person, she answered the question about Obama's lack of birth certificate being shown  ABSOLUTELY correctly!

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 11:35 PM

What I got from Sarah Palin's interview is that while she never explicitly said she thought Obama's birth certificate was an issue, but others did think it was. It won't make a difference, though. Sarah Palin is more resilient than a Terminator.

KeeleyH,  December 3, 2009 11:35 PM

Exactly. I don't know why people are freaking out. She's merely supporting people's freedom to ask questions.

That said, if Sarah is serious about "not closing any doors" to a potential POTUS run someday, she'll have to learn that every word she utters will be scrutinized.

In the short term, some people will give her a hard time about this, but I wouldn't worried about it too much.

The truth is, there is only ONE thing that will determine her chances at the presidency, which is her effectiveness in communicating on the issues. If she fails on that score, none of these little blips will matter. If she succeeds on that score, none of these little blips will matter, either.

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 3, 2009 11:36 PM

and btw, the Media is no longer believed anyways, let them make all the hay out of this they want, who the hell believes them anyways.

Robert_Paulson,  December 3, 2009 11:39 PM

She's going to have to clarify. Quickly. I think I get what she was trying to do, but she needs to be explicit about where she is on the certificate thing. It's not something to play games with.

I agree that she needs to jump on this. If she doesn't, even megafan Ann Coulter will skewer her.

Palinized,  December 3, 2009 11:45 PM

I don't think this is a big deal at all, and I'm not sure why you guys are freaking out. She wasn't saying she would make it an issue at all, she's saying the public can do what they want.  I seriously don't see the big deal. I figured people would freak out when she said "kill terrorists" because this is such a non issue, she was just making a point comparing how she has been treated.  She needs to stay far away from far right talk shows though, they don't really do much good. Will this hurt her? No.

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 11:46 PM

With Sarah, it's not what she says or does, it's what is taken out-of-context, misinterpreted, blown out of proportion, etc. by the media that is the problem (i.e. the plane issue). That's what is concerning about this statement.

It's like what Margaret Thatcher has said, " If my critics saw me walking on the Thames, they would say it was because I couldn't swim".

Even with climategate going on, I'm surprised the LSM headline regarding the scorching booksales isn't "Sarah kills trees for profit".

You guys are way over the top on this it was a good interview and the question was not that big of a deal.  If they try to make it so, they... defendAmerica,  December 3, 2009 11:50 PM

I think you all are making much ado about nothing.

Sarah has a steel spine and she has asked us to have one too.

If she decided to run for POTUS, she is going to be attacked and maligned.  Her words will be twisted and her record distorted.  The MSM will try to beat her into the ground.

It will not always be the fun we are having now in watching her success.  There are struggles ahead.  And panic at the sight of one is not necessary.

Sarah has survived many attempts to destroy her and she will continue to survive many more.

If you truly "crossed the Rubicon" and are willing to walk this path with Sarah, you need to learn to trust her instincts and let her speak her mind.

In the end the truth will still be standing.

Lakerfanalways,  December 3, 2009 11:50 PM

Oh please she NEVER said she believes that Obama was born in Kenya, that is ridiculous..she was  just saying how she understands the concern of others on this issue because of the crap she has taken about Trig not being her son

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 11:50 PM

I personally think too many people here are worried-she's playing the lamestream media as we converse. She knows what she's doing. Sarah Palin's bounced back from everything hurled at her. This will be the same.

Recovering Democrat,  December 3, 2009 11:50 PM

Ha! That's ok. I wish I wouldn't have been interviewed right after seeing Sarah actually. I had gotten zero sleep and I don't think I made any sense whatsoever. sarah 2012

latinchic,  December 3, 2009 11:55 PM

I don't think anyone is going to stop supporting her because of this. I just think everyone is trying to help her by expressing our views that she should clarify her statement because we fear a tsunami may be coming.

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 11:57 PM

Sarah Palin will be who she is. She can't parse every word like Romney, who tries to appeal to everyone. The Governor calls it like she says it. I think she has said, and I paraphrase, "You'll either accept me for who I am, or you'll reject me." That is the type of person she will run as.

Denise J,  December 3, 2009 11:57 PM

I agree with Zephyr. Governor Palin so far has not been incorrect on the things she has said or written. Just read back through several of the posts referencing Jerusalem. She has been right on the money.

She did emphasize that the electorate has a right to ask and she didn't have a problem with that. In the same way that she didn't have a problem providing the birth certificate for Trig.

If they try to make this a big deal she will take them out. We should not jump up and down on one day in support and as soon as a touchy subject arises begin to question. The Governor has good instincts is what has been advocated on this site and should continue to be the point.

Remember she is a regular citizen and is not accountable to anyone. The question was asked and answered appropriately. She also said that she would not have to make it a big deal. Now! Let's cool out. Obama will have to answer for a lot of things that were hidden. The truth always wins. and if he has appropriate paper work, then let it be so. He won't be able to hide. The Governor is on the hunt. And I for one hope that she pounds and pounds and pounds away. The country deserves better than what was served up and the Governor's intention is to help this country get back on the right track.

Lakerfanalways,  December 3, 2009 11:57 PM

Who gives a crap about the media, seriously, she is a PRIVATE CITIZEN, she can say whatever she damn well pleases..its HER Opinion, and she NEVER EVER said that she believes he is not a natural born citizen, she never even mentions kenya, she was comparing her situation with trig with what was going on with Obama, in fact she even laughed about it and tallked about crazy conspiracy theories, seriously, she was KIDDING

Jesse Cornish,  December 3, 2009 11:58 PM

MSNBC is still desparately trying to be relevant. They've thrown so many stones at Palin I've stopped caring a long time ago.

the tsunami's are coming.  The closer to 2012 we get, the bigger they will be.

If she stays true to herself, her message, and her principles she will walk through them all.  No matter how the media and the blogs try and spin it.

Nancy,  December 4, 2009 12:02 AM

So, if people can question what has come out of her uterus, and this somehow in some people's minds, puts in their minds doubts about her legitimacy to be president, why can't people question where his mother was when she gave birth to him, when where she was reallly does matter when it comes to his qualifications to be President.
The birth certificate of Trig has no bearing on her qualifications for President.
But, Barack Obama's does.

Maybe she just wants fair play.
The matter of birth seems to follow Obama and Governor Palin around, and she is pointing to the fact that once again, he gets a pass.

I don't know. I don't care about this stuff, but I will continue to pray for Governor Palin and for God to keep guiding her in everything she does.

wisetrog,  December 4, 2009 12:03 AM

Also, this is a direct message to the Trig truthers and their enablers in the media. If they pursue their madness, she'll have no choice but to push what could really hurt Obama.

Stop worrying about it. It's a great tactic. Instead of panicking we should aggressively push against Obama's sheeple. Payback's a bitch, as they say.

I listened to the whole interview, and followed the thread at HotAir. This is not going to be anything, and if people try to make it into something, Sarah gets another opportunity to talk to people about this and whatever she decides to change the subject to after she knocks this down.
It is no big deal at all. Somebody said that radio host asks everyone about the birth certificate.
I'm not worried in the slightest.

PatrickinOH,  December 4, 2009 12:05 AM

wisetrog,  December 4, 2009 12:06 AM

BTW, if this heated up, Sarah or her people should remind that Obama hasn't revealed nor the media has pressed for any of his records, not his legislative voting record, not his health records, not his theses etc. he's the most poorly documented president ever. She should demand these documents be released immediately.

Brian72,  December 4, 2009 12:07 AM

Allahpundit sure thought he had something when he first put that post up, but many commenters are pointing out the context to him, and he seems to now be milking the thread for controversy.

Sarah doesn't need any more drama. Her AGW facebook post is being overshadowed with this birther nonsense. Momentum builds on itself> She has huge momentum right now, and this will take her off message. She needs to address this ASAP.

PatrickinOH,  December 4, 2009 12:08 AM

AmeriCuda,  December 4, 2009 12:09 AM

To rightly condemn the media for their disgusting Trig inquiries, then turn around justify the birthers inquiries is a mistake. In the voting public's mind the 'birther' issue is as fringe as the 'trig' issue.
I really hope, once the book tour is over that she emphasizes the positive outlook she has for the country (ala Reagan) and forget the media sniping. Everyone knows they treated her like dirt and have no credibility.  Her unwillingness to let that go, I believe, is her achilles heel. The media knows that, and targets it. Please SP don't give them any ammo.

Many people still have no clue about Obama on a lot of things including some of his past associations. Do they really want people to start asking questions?"Why are people not supposed to question him? Why do we know so little about this man? Who is he really? Why is he not being open about this and that? Why? Why? Why? What's the real story about his past?"

In the end the truth is right there on a Disk, and Sarah will still be standing tall.

<p>Knowing Sarah, she probably doesn't care about all this. "Politically speaking, if I die, I die." At first, I thought, maybe she should have sidestepped the question. But that would be being too much of a typical politician. No, that's not her.

I guess she's saying it's fair game because people questions Trig and she released statements from her doc about birth of Trig.

John McCain showed his birth certificate. Why shouldn't Obama? I'm not a birther by the way.

Brian72,  December 4, 2009 12:19 AM

She can answer it very easily with a refresher on the First Amendment rights of the public to ask anything they want of their public officials within reason, then maybe mention her college records are all out in the open and where are his, where are his voting records from his time in state govt, hers are all out there, what about all of these czars, who are these people, we were told this would be a transparent govt, I put the state checkbook online, ect. ect.

If this draws attention her way, she can judo it back on Obama and Pelosi very easily.

KeeleyH,  December 4, 2009 12:20 AM

She can always keep talking about everything, every day. Let's go for it, Sarah! Let's go full out!

He despises Sarah Palin pretty much.

bpk1300,  December 4, 2009 12:23 AM

i too was very queasy at the thought of the BarnesBoy in a navy thong with glow in the dark stars scattered here and there!!!

Palinized,  December 4, 2009 12:23 AM

You have a valid point. I don't reallly understand the whole birth cirtificate issue, and why he won't provide one. It seems there really isn't an answer, or there isn't one anyone is willing to provide. I always think Sarah is ahead of the game, she's proven to be so far, who knows. However, I've never really thought about the birth issue, I figured Glen Beck would figure it out and tell us lol.

Izzy,  December 4, 2009 12:24 AM

right on the money.

Jesse Cornish,  December 4, 2009 12:24 AM

Isn't it interesting there is always one standard BHO and another for Palin?

I had that letter e-mailed to me a week ago, very powerful...I'm sure it was immediately deleted by Barry's lackeys in the WH.

TSM Admin,  December 4, 2009 12:26 AM

I don't thinkm she should.  Let others (MSM) do it as they get forced too if/when this really gets to be a TWO SET OF RULES thing.   I'm not pushing thr birther thing, just as others have said, Sarah (and family) have been subjected to a lot of "birhter" Q's.  So should O then.  Let others actually do it though just in case he has all docs in order and has kept hidden for some other reason.
