This is actually exciting that she was interviewed by Lars. Lars is based in Portland (OR), near where I live. He actually slammed her when she announced her resignation, by stating "nobody like a quitter". I was one of those who wrote to him to set the record straight about why she was resigning. It sounds like that he has somewhat come around. Not sure if he has done a 180, but I think that he better understands her now.
like=likes. |^)
I think she needs to emphasize the fact that her administration was paralyzed by both the ethics complaints and the non-cooperation of the legislature, rather than leading with the lame duck explanation.
Good for her going on Lars' show, he has been criticial of her. She is not afraid to tell him like it is. I like also that she gave a verbal high five to the people who called and wrote to him and got on his case, like you Hefmier (way to go!)
She is getting more comfortable and strong in her opinion about illegal immigration.
Oh this is funny. He asks her about the McCain people and she says,
"Well where I am today riding in the bus instead of being thrown under the bus is a much more productive postion I am in today. Where I can say what I want to say and go where I want to go."
She just flat out said she is not for amnesty. "No I am not for amnesty. Called Illegal for a reason. If they are not going to follow the rules they need to get out."
Huckabee and clemency.
"Horrible decision he made. I feel bad for Huckabee but it was a horrible decision he made."
Talks about Afghanistan, drilling, slams Obama, 3rd party she will play it by ear, why she stepped down.
This is a must to listen to. This was a great interview.
He needs to read Going Rogue. He is still clueless.
The 3rd party answer is the big one.
Great interview!
all she really needs to say is this:
"I was not going to let my critics tell me to sit down and shut up by putting me and my state into debt, and now i can get out and help people without having my mouth duct tapped and chained to the Gov's desk in fear of having to pay out of pocket for insane legal fees by an exploit in the alaska ethics act."
Guys, I just returned from the Plano, TX book signing. I was second in line and was interviewed tons of times (Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star Telegraph, Fox 4 News, Channel 8, an French newspaper, and Mike Gallagher) I tried to plug Conservatives for Palin.com and Palin's FB page as much as possible. I will have pictures and a video of Sarah P walking the line. I was in the bookstore so I didn't hear her little speech she gave to people at the beginning. Hopefully another TX C4P was there to get it! Let me up load....brb! Oh, by the way, It was awesome. Todd, Trig, Mama Heath and Daddy Heath were there along with Aunt Katie. We met Sarah's parents. Sweet Sweet people. More later!
Awesome! I'm looking forward to the vid. I'm glad that Todd is with her too now.
"3rd party she will play it by ear"
What does that mean? She told others no third party. Gov. palin needs to stay on message. You can't jump all over the place. I have not listen to the interview so I should hold judgement until I listen to it.
Todd is probably there for the Gridiron Dinner event.
Well, you can not accuse Sarah Palin of beating around the bush...
amazing that we can finally hear a politician clearly speak about hot topics such as illegal immigration, afghanistan, clemency for crooks and all the other subjects that he asked questions about.
no fuzzy thinking there.
And I agree with her on all of them and would guess most Americans would too.
I love it.
I'm in the shot at :32 but apparantly they didn't get what I said!
http://www.dallasnews.com/video/index.html?nvid=412405&shu=1
I just hope he is with her when she makes it to Coeur d'Alene. I really want to be able to verify Tammy Bruce's statement :)
TexMex, I was in the same position as you, except that I was 50-something in line (in Richland, WA). I was in the store when Sarah was walking the line and greeting people outside of the store. She did not give a speech. It was great to meet her Aunt Katie, Father (mother was outside talking to people) and I met her brother Chuck Jr. and Cousin Greg, which I met the night earlier and had I picture taken with. Glad that you had a great time. :^)
<p><span><span>JeanA,</span></span>
<span>She said and I am paraphrasing here: "the base of our party, the common sense conservatives, they want common sense, free market principles, a strong military implemented, and if the Republican party gets back to its base, we think are party is going to be stronger and there's not going to be a need for a third party, but I will play it by ear in the coming months, coming years."</span></p>
I am now listening to Glenn Beck on my local Portland radio station and Lars comes on after Glenn.
Lars made an announcement at the top of the hour and stating that he will discuss Sarah Palin and what she thinks on issues such as Afghanistan. Did he interview her some more? Not sure, but it will be interested to know what he has to say.
www.larslarson.com.
stating=stated. GROAN!!!
oh, that's just a needle in the side.
Drilling for Oil ....Hell yes
"Third party option"
Beck will be happy.
Rush won't be happy.
But when you think about it we already have a third party.
We have the D's, R's and the I's and more and more are moving to the I's.
<p><span>I personally think the third party talk is all about nothing and she is doing that to send a warning shot to the party leaders, Rinos and elitist in Washington.<span> </span>Except me for me and let me in or I am going to rip you a part.</span></p>
Todd probably got the roof fixed. Good to know he is on the Tour. He adds a lot.
Bill, I would agree
Just a little reminder that the Rinos better shape up. Just a warning shot.
Oh man what a rush! So glad you got to meet her family too! I'm on such a high right now!
It's hardball politics. A preemtive shot across the bow of the party. If it looks like a third party candidate might run against her, then she just might retool and run as a third party candidate herself. Keeps em on the defensive, so they can't build momentum. I was wondering how she might approach this.
I hope somebody is guarding the house.
It has many meanings. One is allowing people who are fed up with parties to feel in tune with her.
She said something on a different topic yesterday that has the same effect.
She praises Tea Parties.
She likes people, even those who are not approved by snobs.
And, it is OK for those people to like her.
Many will like Sarah, but not any party.
Will a party be smart enough to let her lead, even if the great unwashed get to come into the tent?
Bristol is. I think Bristol isn't giving the credit that she deserves. The young woman has toughened it out Graduated HS and is in College while caring for a child. Give her some credit guys.
Another shot across the bow of the Republicans. Shape up or I am shipping out. It is what we love about Sarah. She doesn't owe anybody anything. All other politicians are bought. Not Sarah.
She is incredibly normal, and talks like a regular American.
She is flyover country commonsense American.
I agree with everything she said, and she says it just like any of us would say it.
I loved the way she responded to the illegal alien question. First of all to say illegal alien as a person perhaps running for national office someday, is downright, rogue.
"No, I am not for amnesty. Illegal aliens are called illegal for a reason.....but if they are not going to follow the rules, they need to get out."
Common sense! Point blank, there are rules, follow them, and we will welcome you with open arms! Legal immigration is the only way to go!
I think some are taking some of these things far too seriously. It is a long way from 2012, Sarah is just keeping options open, and laying to the elite republicans. Sarah is not planning a run for 3rd party, but she's letting the establishment know Reagan conservatives are coming to take the country back. Everything is all good:)

Pictures
I'm in picture 2 w/the green jacket just seconds after meeting Palin.
Good point.
Facebook page with video
Sorry guys, but I geeked out a little bit and you can hear me talking. Sarah's entrance and then The First Dude, Trig and Mama Heath bringing up the rear. Hal texted me saying he got a VIP ticket so I don't know if he met her or not, but if he did that man better have Pictures!
<p><span><span><span>I think she is being a bit hardcore on the amnesty question.<span> </span>You can’t up root families that have been here for years and years and tell them to get out.<span> </span>The ones that have been here for years and years have children that were born and raised here.<span> </span>You have to say more to the people that have come to America for a better life than just get out.<span> </span>I know they are at fault but the government is at fault too.<span> </span>Gov. Palin needs to start raising funds for her PAC so she can hire advisers for the simple fact that down the road words have meaning . As we all know the left can twist and turn every word that comes out of your mouth and run with it. We all know that Gov. Palin would have a plan for a certain amount of i</span><span><span>llegal’s that would entitle them to more than leave.</span></span></span></span><span></span></p>
Excellent interview!
Illegal Aliens: If I am not mistaken, she is the only person who isn't PC on this issue. Not only is she honest and direct with her answer, she used the term ALIENS, not immigrants. Yes!! The Conservatives have been waiting a long time for someone to speak the truth. Thank you for no spin.
Huck's Clemency Fiasco: I knew she wouldn't cover for him on that and was honest with her true feelings, no BS and no political spin. It was a horrible decision.
I loved the "Hell No" answer. LOL
3rd Party Question: I agree with those above. That was a warning shot to the RINO's. Just like when she called out Grahamnesty a few weeks back on Cap&Tax.
Afghanistan: Is Obama in it to WIN it? She will pound this over and over and over.
My only criticism is that she continues to use the term "lame duck". She can get her point across about why she stepped down without using that term. For those that follow politics, we understand. For those other ordinary Americans, it sends the wrong message because it has a negative connotation.
Clemency: "I don't have a whole lot of mercy for the bad guys. I'm on the good guys side.... I will always err on the side of punishing even stricter even harder of the bad guys."
For drilling for oil: "Oh, hell yeah!":)
On Obama's Afghanistan plan: "I sure wish he was a little bit more enthusiastic about getting over there and winning this thing....he has got to show our allies and the American people, that he's got that steel spine that Reagan had where he can explicitly tell these terrrorists, that hey, we win, you lose, we're gonna get over there and we're gonna kill you, so you're not gonna come over to the American homeland and try to kill us." Listen from 7:54-8:01, and tell me she wouldn't do exactly what she says in defense of America. Oh yeah, she nailed the 3 questions from Culvahouse, in the vetting process. She is kick-butt!
Dear God, please keep this woman safe, and guide her on the path you have for her.
Yep, she definitely needs his protection with that crowd.
And remember, he's got experience with them when he stood in for her in the spring at the WH correspondents' dinner and the NYC fish shindig ...
When did Reagan get tough with the terrorists?
Sarah already told Rush Limbaugh that she is not going 3rd party. This is a bone to the tea party movement but ultimately IMHO there is no way Sarah is going 3rd party unless the GOP rigs the primaries so badly that she cannot possible win.
It would have been funny if she would have been interviewed about illegal aliens while in Roswell.
I took it as a warning to the Republicans to have their direction merge with the TeaParty movement, or there will be trouble for them. She doesn't want a third party to be necessary.
The ball is in their court to prevent that. See NY-23rd.
The dinner conversation between Todd and Barney Frank should get interesting.
While Todd is showing the other guests pictures of his snowmachine race wins, Barney will probably whip out color swatches for the new chairs and drapery in his living room and need Todd's input.
I think she was making an allusion to the way President Reagan had a steel spine in dealing with the Evil Empire.
No pale pastels, bold colors, Reagan CPAC 1975. Bank it.
He bombed Quaddafi's tent in the desert with USAF F-111 fighter-bombers. He wasn't there at the time, and he shut his pie hole after that for years.
The highlight of the interview besides the reaffirmation of her position and illegal immigrants and her opposition to the Amnesty bill in 2006 favored by both McCain and GWB which failed was the part where she addressed the Huckabee situation and said it was a terrible decision but that 'her heart went out to Huck, a perfect combination of rationality and empathy that won't attract all of Huck's supporters but a good number as Huck's supporters give her a second look.
Then she goes on and talks about how she never gave clemency, and then uttered the key phrase: "I'm for the good guys, and not the bad guys."
That is why both parties hate and fear her, they dont have thier hooks in her to control as she's so aptly shown, She's her own woman
All I can say is damn! That's what I'm talking about. She starting to really let loose. Good for her!
Lipstick,
I know this is in a very different part of the state, but what are your thoughts on El Paso. I have a interesting job offer there, if I want it.
Just her using the terms, "bad guys and good guys" must make things leak out of lefty's orificiesesss.
OT, but Ace has his take about the so-called "birthergate" up in a new thread.
He has a very balanced position on it, pretty much how many of us here fell. It is long, but good.
Lucky you. :^)
I disagree, you dont reward criminal behavior and it's not fair to those who enter and stay in the country that play by the rules. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and besides these illegals take away jobs that are so needed right now and it places a great strain on the states services like schools, law enforcement, prisons as well as medical. California is a prime example of this
Seens like this may have been a good interview. I'll have to wait to listen.
Here is the link.
May be it has something to do with Iran and the hostages.
I disagee, you can't kick people out that have been here for 20 years or more. You have to set years, rules and guidelines for people to stay and leave.
The interview froze up on me and I left it before he asked her about resigning her office.
Please tell me she didn't use the words " lame duck"?! Why isn't RAM there to help her with this answer? It really should be easy but she keeps complicating it by using the two words that have no parallel with her situation in Alaska in any way, shape, or form.
Bumping head against wall...
Actually Ronnie bombed his palace but Quaddafi is such a loon that he has a huge tent behind the palace and sleeps there and didnt get hit so Reagan had every intention of killing him and he knew it and decided to lay low for a very long time. Ronnie didnt put up with their crap. The day he was sworn in as President was the same day the hostages in Iran was released. In fact both were going on at exactly the same time.
First Sarah and now Romney. Just read the headline at Hotair not the rest of the story.
Romney on Huckabee: Unlike some people, I never pardoned anyone
Poor Huck!
I think she just keeps repeating this because "you either get it or you don't". Pretty soon they'll quit asking her this question and "lame duck" will be just water under the bridge.
Al Gore, liberals, and Obama are a load of crap on Global warming.
She's obviously talking about Reagan and the Iran hostage crisis.
Remember the 52 American hostages from the US Embassy that were bering held by Iranians? They were realeased the VERY SAME DAY, and just a few minutes after Reagan became president.
Woot Woot!!!
Have I said today that she is my hero???
^^^not only that DefCon, they are literally bankrupting the state.
She did.
Sure you can, it happens all the time, naturalized citizens for various reasons get kicked out so why shouldnt criminals (for that is what they are as soon as they cross the border)? Our nation cannot sustain this illegal influx that has happened over the last 2 decades for at some point it will collapse what is left of our economy. Either they do it legally or stay out of the counrty.
^^^jeanA,
Poor Huck nothin....Not only was this a very poor decision, but ol' Huck made many poor decisions while governor. I wouldn't vote for hiim if he were the last guy on earth!
Riley on Romney: Unlike some people, Mittens does more flip flops than Mary Lou Retton when she won the US Olympic Gold medal.
That's exactly what she meant. She will never, ever, ever go 3rd Party unless the Repubs become unrecognizable and the primaries are completely and obviously rigged. That's not going to happen and she said herself that there are signs that the Repubs are coming back to their conservative routes (kicking and screaming). The Party machinery has to be overhauled and 23 went a long way to doing that. It's a warning and an encouragement to shape up.
She's already done a lot of the heavy lifting to retake the Repubs. Just keep going. Conservatives have the momentum. Her model's REAGAN, not Ross Perot.
Romney is one I cannot vote for period, he gives off the aura as a party man and will meekly do as they say no matter what is right and I'm sick of that kind of Republican (like Newt). I dont trust any of them now for they seem to have blown off thier constituents wants and concerns until election time rolls around. That is one of the main reasons I love Sarah and desperately want her to run in '12, she listens to what the people want and serves them not self serving or for the Party.
I agree, she tells the story backwards. Needs to emphasize frivolous ethics complains paralyzing the admin, then choice of stay or go, stay means just spending more money and not getting anything done but go means breaking the log jam and allowing successor to proceed with completing the job she started
TexMex: you rock!
RE: Illegal Immigration- first let me say that whether Palin takes the hardline (kick illegals out now) or moderate (path to legalization) position on this will not change my mind about supporting her or not. I'm sold. I love Palin. She would be so great for America.
But please help me understand and correct me if I'm wrong. When Sarah said she's against amnesty, was she saying that she wants to kick out all illegal aliens right now? Remember, she did say "there are humane ways" to deal with this. Or was she referring to legalizing illegal aliens under certain conditions, but not granting them citizenship?
I'm still confused. lol.
Can I interview Sarah on this subject, please? lol....
Best line--about O's lack of spine and having to "Let the terrorists know that we're gonna get over their and we're gonna KILL you..." Lol. Kind of funny that their worst nightmare's going to end up being a woman--no Burkhas for the Cuda! A little poetic justice there.
Sarah the Lionhearted!

When she decides to run she will have a definitive response to this and all relevant issues. It isn't time for her to establish policy.
I also disagree. I loved her statement. How very refreshing. Follow the law. No time limits on deportation. I believe we have plenty of buses left over from Katrina. Let the caravan roll. My great grandparents came over from Slovenia and England and worked in the steel mills in Joliet, IL. Legal immigration was/is the backbone and fabric of our country. People need to be assimilated into the AMERICAN culture and understand what it is to be an American. LEGALLY.
I think Sarah will come up with a humane way of doing this. Keep in mind I don't see her splitting families. My guess is Sarah is not well rehearsed in immigration issues. Just not a big issue in Alaska. As she studies it will be good to have somebody with a fresh set of eyes on it.
Naaaaaah, I'm not asking her to establish a policy. I just want to know her view on this. You can't establish a policy without a set worldview.
PEC: that's what I'm thinking...but I could be wrong, which is why I continue to be super curious. If she's less of a hardliner (though not necessarily moderate) on this like I'm thinking she is, then every conservative radio host and blogger will give her a hard, hard time....and maybe she doesn't want/need that right now.
I just got home, going to listen to the interview. Also had a buddy of mine at the Plano event, she is gonna send me video and stuff. I cant wait to hear how it went!! About amnesty for illegals, I am against amnesty for illegals and I am against them receiving healthcare while we the people end up paying for it..that is not right
I am so happy for you. You can tell you really enjoyed the experience. I wonder if Sarah knows how many peoples Holiday season she will make?
This is not Sarah's area of expertise but you know an outsider with a fresh look on things maybe the best answer. The get out immediately or everybody welcome groups have got nowhere. Let somebody new like Sarah look at the situation.
It doesn't have to be a matter of proactively "kicking people out" rather it becomes a procedural matter of making it near impossible for illegals to work, drive, bank, receive state services, rent apartments, connect to utilities, have phones, etc if they're not here legally.
As we saw right after 9/11 with the self-deportation of thousands of ilelgal Muslims, people will leave the country voluntarily if they have reason to want to.
you guys are so funny
And working 1 or 2 jobs.
I disagree. Sarah has the right kind of thinking. If someone is caught being an illegal (like when they crash into your car and you find out they don't have insurance and that they're here illegally - happened to my brother-in-law), then the cops should already know and send them to jail.
I am a nautralized US citizen. Issues of citizenships or residency issues will bring you in LONNNNGG longs lines at the INS building, so it's only fair that people do it the right way and get in the long lines like everybody else. I think illegals should go to jail for at least 6 months. Otherwise if you drive them back and drop them off, they'll find a way to come back again. Look, even in North Korea when those 2 reporters trespassed they were sent to 12 years in hard labor camp. At least they know how to handle their illegals.

There should be 6 months jail time for first offense and then a 3 years for the next offense or something. You have to scare them to not come here illegally.
I just feel bad for the illegals who grew up here because it wasn't their fault. It was their parents' fault. Still, they can always meet a US citizen (since they're already Americanized) and marry them and obtain the citizenship.
Great interview! Glad she's tougher on crimminals. She's a tough lady. :)
"Lame duck" meaning her administration will be so paralyzed that she won't get to do anything productive.
I think she knows the millions of illegals here, but she'll need to talk to Rick Perry about it because he's a border governor. She did say that the president should get ideas from governors of border states. That way you can brainstorm ideas. But common sense tells us exactly what she says - if you're illegal, you shouldn't be here in the first place, so go home before you get caught.
