Minnesota Open Thread (Updated with News from Iowa and an Obama Lie)

The Governor returns to the place where it all started tomorrow. C4P's very own K. Carpenter is attending the book signing, along with other C4P regulars. Drop us a comment/tip. We'll be looking out for some tweets. Here's something about her Minnesota visit from Powerline.

-Though unrelated to the Governor's visit to Walter Reed this morning, I think it's important to remind people that President Obama's approval rating is now under 40% among military households.

-Remember when Talking Points Memo made a big deal about how crowd size estimates that some conservative bloggers made of tea party events were significantly different from the estimates made by purportedly neutral news organizations? Well, the shoe is now on the other foot as TPM's numbers are significantly different from the numbers reported for Governor Palin's Fairfax book signing by the Washington Post and the Associated Press.

-My friend Kristofer Lorelli pens an editorial to Jeffrey Goldberg, asking for his response to Governor Palin on the issue of Israeli settlements. The Wall Street Journal's data shows that Governor Palin's statement regarding Israel immigration trends was correct.

-Lynn Sweet has more from the Gridiron and writes that "Palin was warm, personable and approachable, gracious to those who wanted to take her picture, and good humored about accommodating the total strangers who asked to pose with her for a souvenir snap." (includes a pic of her and Barney Frank)

What else is going on tonight? Since we are talking about Minnesota tonight, I'll predict the Cardinals pull off the upset.

Update: Here is the invitation by the Minnesota Freedom Club to an event that will reportedly attend in a private reception after her book signing. This event has not been confirmed.

Update #2: Here are some stories to chew on about her visit to Iowa from ABC and Politico (h/t Uffda). Jonathan Martin made a very interesting observation in the Politico article:

Palin, as this event and her previous well-attended book tour stops make clear, continues to enjoy a following that transcends politics and could potentially bring thousands of new participants into the Republican primary process.

PPP(D) found her favorable rating among conservative Democrats to be at 52% in its last poll.

Update #3: Given that we're so quick to call any political mistatement a lie, I'll proudly label the following comment from President Obama a lie.

I mentioned that I was in Asia on this trip thinking about the economy, when I sat down for a round of interviews. Not one of them asked me about Asia. Not one of them asked me about the economy. I was asked several times about had I read Sarah Palin's book. (Laughter.) True. But it's an indication of how our political debate doesn't match up with what we need to do and where we need to go.

The statement is completely false as Major Garrett from Fox News did ask Obama about the things he claims reporters did not ask him about while he was overseas.

I can also understand why President Obama would be upset at questions about Going Rogue. It only outsold his book by a 7-to-1 margin according to Nielsen book scan in its first week.

Go Cardinals.  Go Kurt.

Go Sarah!

John from Powerline said he was invited to a private dinner with Sarah but couldn't afford it.  Maybe we should take up a collection?

A,  December 6, 2009 9:20 PM

ETA MSP 24 minutes.

A,  December 6, 2009 9:25 PM

$5000/ person or couple IIRC,

Fundraiser for R group that supports R candidates in MN.

Heavy hitters. $5000 is routine for them.

John is among their past $5000 donors IIRC. (one PL guy was, only one)

I posted on it when the news broke.

After the signing IIRC.

I don't know of any other Sarah political fundraiser except AK Lincoln Day Dinners, if those were fundraisers, since the election.

MplsMN,  December 6, 2009 9:25 PM

I'm going to Sarah's book signing tomorrow.  Wish me luck that I get in.  I have a feeling it's going to be hard to get a wristband.

There's a private dinner tomorrow night after the book signing, put on by The Freedom Club.  Cost is $5,000/person and the money is being used to support Republican candidates in the 2010 election.

A,  December 6, 2009 9:25 PM

They are all in for T-Paw, I think.

A,  December 6, 2009 9:31 PM

Nothing new for Sarah here:

"<span>-Lynn Sweet has more from the Gridiron and writes that "Palin was warm, personable and approachable, gracious to those who wanted to take her picture, and good humored about accommodating the total strangers who asked to pose with her for a souvenir snap."</span>

except for Chicago insider to know it.

At the Wasilla Wal-Mart, Sarah did it.

Out for a run in the park, Sarah did it.

Sarah did it in DC. That is Sarah.

The surprise is the story.

Lakerfanalways,  December 6, 2009 9:32 PM

I hope you are able to get a wristband. You are SO lucky, I am hoping that eventually she come to los angeles. I am halfway through her book now, its AWESOME!

NoDak-Coley,  December 6, 2009 9:34 PM

I am at the mall now, nobody here yet, no idea if they'll let us camp or not.

A,  December 6, 2009 9:37 PM

Have fun.

Enjoy Chuck, Sally, Todd, Katie, and if available, Trig too.

just start your line.  in my experience at the 2 signings i went to, as soon as someone started the line, others who were there, but not sure where to go quickly joined in.

yogi41,  December 6, 2009 9:44 PM

Yikes! Do we have to predict all 435 Congressional seats? (kidding)

It's no secret I think the following Senators will lose their seats:

Dodd, Reid, Boxer, Specter, Gillibrand, Lincoln, with Biden's seat going Republican. Looking forward to your thread, Tommy.

It'll be a lot more witty (at least I'd like to think of it as more witty) than that!

NoDak-Coley,  December 6, 2009 9:46 PM

We don't know where they want us, inside or out, the mall is still open and it's freezing out!

terri,  December 6, 2009 9:46 PM

I don't know how they're going to handle it but you can't even start standing in line till 0500 for the signing starting at 1200 noon. Take a look.....

"Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be signing books at the Mall of America today, but don’t plan on going rogue in line.
Event organizers have set rules for those waiting to get Palin’s signature. For one thing, there’s no camping on mall property. The line starts at 5 a.m. for the noon event.
Organizers also say those waiting in line shouldn’t bring their own chair or leave the line for long.
Palin fans should make sure to buy a copy of her book, “Going Rogue,” at the mall’s Barnes and Noble store, or bring a receipt showing the book was bought at another Barnes and Noble.
A mall spokeswoman tells the Star Tribune of Minneapolis that at least 2,500 people are expected, and some will leave disappointed."

Lynn Sweet made sure she pointed out who wrote Sarah's jokes.  The media sure makes a point of letting us know if Sarah had any help with her speeches, but they sure don't do it for other politicians.  I want to know if any one helped Barney Frank?  Is so, why didn't Lynn write about this.  Also, when Obama gives his speeches shouldn't reporters include which of his speech writers worked on it.  Sorry if I sound harsh, but I see this as an attempt by the media to keep up their pretense that Sarah isn't smart enough to write this stuff herself.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 10:02 PM

Kurt Warner is a great leader, an inspirational one...just like a certain lady we know and love!!

yogi41,  December 6, 2009 10:04 PM

terri,

Do you think his seat will go GOP? I think Burris goes (he's not running for re-election) but I think it stays Dem.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 10:04 PM

Good luck, Mpls...have the greatest of times!!!

Nancy,  December 6, 2009 10:09 PM

Maybe no speechwriter will admit to writing his speeches, whereas, with Governor Palin, she hits it out of the park everytime, and so speechwriters see it as an asset to be associated with her.

CBDenver,  December 6, 2009 10:12 PM

Oh, come on -- I bet Sarah could win him over ;-)

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 10:12 PM

What is quite evident to me is that Sarah could have created everything she says, whether she originally composed it for herself, or someone helped her with it.  Everything that proceeds from her lips seems to match and resonate with her spirit.  Her words are of one piece with her soul, if I may put it that way.  She is real; what she utters is real.

Deidre,  December 6, 2009 10:13 PM

I'll be going early this morning.  leaving Rochester at 2.  I'm working right now.  I'm not sure how the whole thing is going to work out since they specifically said no camping out and cannot be on the property until 5.  It'll be interesting.

MarkRNY,  December 6, 2009 10:13 PM

Your instincts are dead on. Swine to the last. Anything to take a piece out of her.

It's not just the jokes Lynn baby! It's who delivers them and how that matters. Bob Hope had his jokes written for him! O has directions to the Oval Office written on his palm! He's not in it much.

yogi41,  December 6, 2009 10:14 PM

Because they can't escape the fact that her delivery is spot-on-perfect, unlike a certain smug, wooden and unfunny President that they're stuck with as the albatross around their necks.

Southern Gent,  December 6, 2009 10:14 PM

Sarah's V.P. should do at least two things. Carry a big state (Florida-25 electoral votes.Carry a demographic-Hispanic-   RUBIO-Get the picture).

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 10:15 PM

both of the places i was at said you couldnt line up either and yet people did.  ask the people in the store where they want you and if they wont tell you then just start a line at the entrance of the door.  if they're gonna kick you out of the mall, you can move your line outside then.

CBDenver,  December 6, 2009 10:15 PM

Good point.  I read the article that had Frank's joke at the very end.  The joke was lame and I don't think he has very good comedic timing

Nancy,  December 6, 2009 10:15 PM

Governor Palin is warm, personable, approachable and gracious, because she is regular folk.
God is the be all and end all for her, it gives her a different perspective than what the elites she was hanging with last night have.

What! What! Has this doofus seen the crowds at Palin’s book signings? Women galore, buddy. Grow up. I love this clip, this woman came all the way from China to see Sarah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmKxtCIZvgU&feature=player_embedded

These idiots are blatantly sexist, and what do they have to say in their defense? “Well, she’s sexy.” That’s your problem, bud. She’s beautiful; it’s your twisted brain that turns it into something that it’s not.
It always reminds me of the rapist who says, “Well, she shouldn’t have worn that outfit.”

It’s always the victim’s fault.

You really can't teach poise, timing, delivery, the fact that she can really make the words that fall flat for a Gore (Schnure) or a Romney (Scully) and make them shine, like a diamond in the rough. which she is. Much like Colonel West, such words have to come from the heart to be effective.

David Frum is a dumbass he is so irrelevant but he thinks he is the most important person in the world, he thinks he is the only true conservative but when you read his stuff he doesn't promote any conservative ideas or causes, he just ridicules other conservatives like Palin, Rush, Beck, etc, he has no ideas at all he is just jealous because Palin is taking all the attention away from faux cons such as himself, I would have never even heard of this douche if he he hadn't started attacking Sarah

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 10:59 PM

Dan Riehl seemed to like Sarah when she ran, but then wasn't so sure when she stepped down.  She has really been winning him back, as of late and has made mention of C4P in the past.

He was amused by her comments at the dinner last night...

from his post yesterday... and he gave the h/t to Malkin...

<span>
<p>"But what the heck is it with Sarah Palin? The attendees at the DC dinner numbered twice what they usually do? Pretty impressive for someone we are always told is insignificant. She really is proving to be a unique phenomenon in politics, especially as it isn't driven by the great media love that followed Obama. This is a press event, after all.
</p><p>This joke especially cracked me up. And she did mention Iowa, by the way.
</p><p>As for the president, Palin joked that she was looking at a magazine cover of Obama and Chinese president Hu Jinato during an airplane flight. A nearby passenger stated, "Hu's the Communist," she related."

Way to go on the Raiders getting it done today!:)
Two guys I felt horrible for today: that rookie Steelers defender that had an interception to seal a Steelers win, and the Redskin's kicker missing that field goal to pretty well ice their win over the Saints.

Allen West is a bit of a problem child. I support him, though.

He's running against Ron Klein, who had the good fortune to be the one guy who could beat Clay Shaw when the Dems decided to turn on him over Mediscare. Klein already beat West once, like a drum. The problem is that, while the environment for D's is toxic, I don't think it's toxic enough for Klein to lose to West in FL-22.

Sarah's VP, if she wins the 2012 nominating cycle, will be one of two people: David Petraeus or Jeb Bush. She needs to pick someone of Dick Cheney's stature so that if something happens to her, the electorate knows that the guy who is on deck can step into the job instantly and Be President. She'll pick someone of seasoned legitimacy like one of the two people I mentioned because either one of those guys will make her decisonmaking process look sound AND, I might add, either one of those gentlemen will make Joe Biden look like the Man In Clown Shoes in the Vice Presidential Debate.

Do you just use Safari to do that? My iPhone takes forever to load c4p with the js-kit comment system :(

Uffda,  December 6, 2009 11:28 PM

I just think Sarah should pick someone who has military or foreign policy experience. I've always thought that.

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:28 PM

defendAmerica, don't get Mia started on this it won't end well

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 11:28 PM

yep.  i sent him an email earlier.  i think that it was an honest mistake and i love that he knows we are here.  maybe he'll come here for some info to compare to what he's hearing in the LSM before writing his blog posts.  i would be surprised if he ever made it through all these crazy comments, but it's good to know that he might be reading some of the posts!

Mia,  December 6, 2009 11:28 PM

Hey Beehive LOL!...Is yabba dabba do...Like... Bada Bing?

MarkRNY,  December 6, 2009 11:29 PM

Wow! She must have heard Sarah's Hu joke.

Mia,  December 6, 2009 11:30 PM

Whit...is the head going up and down.. in agreement?

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:30 PM

Whitney,  December 6, 2009 11:31 PM

no. shakes head, not nodds head.

Beehive,  December 6, 2009 11:32 PM

That is hilarious!

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 11:33 PM

yeah, i have safari on my macbook and my iphone, but i can't seem to ever get signed in on the iphone.  on the laptop it's no problem.

with the blackberry, i can't even get to a place where i can log in.  there's no comments anywhere there.
so, i can read the posts, but can't get into the thread to read comments or post comments.

i love the troll free environment, but i miss being able to read what is going on when i'm not at home with the laptop.

sometimes i read the posts and am just dying to know whats going on inside the thread!

Beehive,  December 6, 2009 11:34 PM

Whoa there!! I am shocked!

No comment....no comment.....no comment

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:38 PM

OT I think I am going to call the white house tomorrow and ask them Why  Obama would make Stedman Graham the AG

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 11:38 PM

Uffda,  December 6, 2009 11:39 PM

I love the look on the interviewer's face.

Whitney,  December 6, 2009 11:39 PM

Euchre league? How fun! I love that game.

Mpls4Palin,  December 6, 2009 11:40 PM

I'm envious of everyone that doesn't have a final exam directly conflicting with the book signing.  Welcome back to Minnesota, Sarah!

Uffda,  December 6, 2009 11:40 PM

Ouch! The Vikings are doing pretty good this year. My Dad's from Minnesota, my Mom's a cheesehead. Eesh! It gets interesting...

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:40 PM

We can't make that promise defendAmerica :)

defendAmerica,  December 6, 2009 11:40 PM

that's cause you live in the midwest!  i've noticed that outside the midwest, no one has ever heard of it...

Mpls4Palin,  December 6, 2009 11:41 PM

I'm envious of everyone that doesn't have a final exam directly conflicting with the book signing.  Welcome back to Minnesota, Sarah!

Beehive,  December 6, 2009 11:41 PM

What is euchre? Is this one of those cow tipping things that I don't want to know about?

Whitney,  December 6, 2009 11:43 PM

Euchre is a card game using the jacks through the aces. It's a popular game in the Midwest.

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:44 PM

your right I have heard of it too defendAmerica and I live in the midwest hmmm...very interesting

Mia,  December 6, 2009 11:46 PM

That was close Beehive... ;)

PatrickinOH,  December 6, 2009 11:47 PM

don't feel to bad I had final exams and couldn't make it to either of her signings in Ohio

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 11:47 PM

Perfect, Bill!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 11:48 PM

Exactly; thanks, Mark!

Beehive,  December 6, 2009 11:49 PM

Man, I really went out on a limb on that one! Whew!

Beehive,  December 6, 2009 11:49 PM

Ah. Thanks for a nice answer Whitney.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 11:55 PM

An old friend of Sarah's came to her booksigning.

Nancy,  December 6, 2009 11:57 PM

Governor Palin is irrelevant on a global scale!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 6, 2009 11:57 PM

LOLROF...love your humor, as always, Nancy!!

Penny,  December 7, 2009 12:01 AM

Don't feel bad Beehive, being born in Iowa and visiting there yearly as a kid, I was jokingly thinking the same as you.  :)

panchita,  December 7, 2009 12:02 AM

funny ain't it. Where are obama's friends from his youth?

Mpls4Palin,  December 7, 2009 12:02 AM

Did anyone else take note of this Politico post:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1209/Emails_from_Alaska.html

"Another email demonstrates how little part of her public identity was her religion:
'What religion is the gov? Luthern, protestant, catholic, etc?' Palin's chief of staff, Mike Nizich, wrote another aide."

Maybe it's just my own positive spin, but this seems to me to support what we already know: that Sarah did not govern mixing religion and politics in a way that drove people away, like some others seem to do.

A,  December 7, 2009 12:03 AM

SARAHPAC and Sarah. This is worthy of thought. 2010 may be the year to create the icon, images, and concepts.

It is a long post, worth everyone's time,

http://hillbuzz.org/2009/12/06/palin-2012-needs-cute-alaskan-themed-mascots/

"<span>For Palin to be successful, she needs to create a brand that sweeps the nation with interesting visual imagery, the way Dr. Utopia’s 2008 campaign successfully sucked so many Kool-Aid slurpers into his cult of personality.</span>
<span>
<p>Today’s idea for Team Sarah is to develop Olympics-grade mascots in an Alaskan theme for Palin’s campaign.  These characters will be animals found in Alaska, so visually Palin’s march towards Washington can be envisioned easily as a stamped of moose, deer, wolves, eagles, killer whales, fox, bears, etc. headed towards the capital to save America from socialism.
</p><p>We got the idea for Palin 2012 from the Salt Lake Olympics mascots ...
</p><p>..,
</p></span>

A,  December 7, 2009 12:03 AM

"...<span>Here is where the Palin mascots could be deployed effectively in the ways the Olympics uses their own mascots:</span>
<span>
<p>(A) Merchandise sales:  to outraise Dr. Utopia in 2012, and to CRUSH her primary opponents like Pawlenty and Romney, Palin could use her Alaskan mascots to sell plush stuffed animals, baby clothes, children’s books, tee shirts, posters, key chains, etc.  With four different animals, people could collect all four versions of the same item, with different animals on them.
</p><p>(B) Costumes:  Can you imagine how ADORABLE sweet little Trig will look in snuggly little Moose, Bear, Husky, and Eagle costumes?  Can you imagine how cute Palin supporters’ babies will be in pictures if everywhere Palin goes there’s some little kid on the loose dressed up like a tiny moose?  ADORABLE.  This is such a natural to appeal to families with.  It also makes campaign visuals, and people love dressing up in costumes (even ones who don’t admit it).  We’d love to wear Palin 2012 campaign moose antlers at events.
</p><p>(C) If Palin uses the mascots to tie into policy matters, it explains things easily to people who otherwise have trouble following campaign platforms.  But, if they can say: “Oh, Palin has that moose, and that means she’s going to do things differently and be rogue.  She’s got that bear, and that stands for strong on defense.  She’s got the husky, and that makes me think of the Iditarod and how tough Alaskans are and how they work together to GET STUFF DONE.  And that eagle flying around makes me think of natural resources it must see from above”.  What an advantage this could have, with each policy page themed with Palin’s cartoon mascots.  The media will hate them, of course, but regular people can’t help but remember them…and remember Palin’s platform as a result.
</p><p>Really, these would be a giant trap for the media.  They’ll make fun of the mascots, but if Palin creates endearing personalities for these characters, and brings them to life with all of her ideas, the public could fall in love with the moose, the bear, the husky, and the eagle…and the media would face the same backlash it would attacking something like Mickey Mouse."  "
</p><p>...
</p><p>
</p></span>

Nancy,  December 7, 2009 12:04 AM

The Steelers defender didn't make the interception.
I didn't make that clear. But, you knew, Brianus.:)

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 12:04 AM

Thanks, Nancy!!!!  It's one of the best Raiders moments in years.  Strange, isn't it?  JeMarcus Russell was a #1 draft pick, seemingly with a world of physical talent; Gradkowski is a tough kid from Pittsburgh, a basic "nobody" until today.  And yet, he seems to have that almost indefinable "spark" of a leader (not that Russell might not yet floursih, but I am dubious).
Congrats to the Broncos too on the whipping of KC.

God bless!!

Brianus

yogi41,  December 7, 2009 12:04 AM

That lady must go, NOW. She's ruining the left's recent smear campaign that Sarah hates Asians. / sarc

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 12:05 AM

flourish--typo!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 12:06 AM

Thanks, Beehive!!

PatrickinOH,  December 7, 2009 12:07 AM

he doesn't have friends panchita, he only has hired guns like axelgrease and emmanuel, funny this reminds me of Voldemort from the Harry Potter books, he had no real friends either coincidence?

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 12:07 AM

Thanks, Nancy...yes, I am praying...

I have been a caregiver for my wife for 30 years as she battles arthritis. Every day starts with a blank slate.

TexMex,  December 7, 2009 12:08 AM

French Reporter interviewed me in Plano, Texas. I tried to translate most of it using Bing Translator. It was a good article. She was a very friendly french lady. Someone also wrote on another thread that the BBC was supposed to be in Iowa. Palin is going international!

A,  December 7, 2009 12:08 AM

A variation... Sarah Inc. could market Palin Stuff through Wal-Mart. Made in America baby socks, bibs, ...  all the way up to Lady's hats, and Iron Dog coveralls made by Carhartt. Sarah and family could star in ads for the clothing line. They might become famous. Rich and famous.

Recovering Democrat,  December 7, 2009 12:09 AM

Women's vote, baby. Heck, I've been technically Republican since 2004, but I was prepared to vote for Hillary had she been the nominee last year, party be damned. Do you think millions of women (and their daughters and grandmothers) aren't going to be tempted to pull the lever for the first woman ever with a real shot at the White House? There's a reason 97% of blacks voted for Obama, including many black Republicans, and I totally believe Palin will pull Dem women.

PatrickinOH,  December 7, 2009 12:11 AM

That's very touching gelston I can see you are a devoted husband just as Todd is to Sarah

PatrickinOH,  December 7, 2009 12:15 AM

Guantanamo Bay?

Recovering Democrat,  December 7, 2009 12:15 AM

He was gone? I just thought he went back to the porch ... LOL.

narciso,  December 7, 2009 12:18 AM

Don't forget the marmot, it's got it's own day in Alaska, I even suggested appointing one to the state legislature, calling him bagel, having her say 'don't say I didn't send you anything

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 12:20 AM

Sure did!!!  :-)

A,  December 7, 2009 12:24 AM

And Salmon, of course.

Mpls4Palin,  December 7, 2009 12:25 AM

And the ptarmigan.  Had no idea what that was while reading the book.  It is the state bird of Alaska and all, so it'd be good to introduce it to us ignorant Lower 48-ers.

A,  December 7, 2009 12:26 AM

You are right. Proof positive that the nuts are on the left and in the Politico comments.

Recovering Democrat,  December 7, 2009 12:27 AM

Well, some of them have mysteriously disappeared ... and then there's Larry Sinclair.

Whitney,  December 7, 2009 12:29 AM

Do you think we'll see a Facebook post in honor of the anniversary of Pearl Harbor tomorrow?

Nancy,  December 7, 2009 12:29 AM

Update about President Obama's lie about not getting any questions about the economy while in China: President Obama doesn't remember anything he says after a bow. He is like an Etch-A-Sketch, once he bends to a certain point everything that was in his brain, is erased. So, he doesn't remember what in the world happened in China.

My husband thanks C4P for being here. He would have had to hear that lame attempt at humor, and it's almost to the point of open hostility from him during one of my bits.:) I wouldn't be surprised if one of these days he starts booing and hissing me. He's a tough crowd.

A,  December 7, 2009 12:32 AM

Chuck used to make and sell fly fishing lures.

hmmm

Beehive,  December 7, 2009 12:34 AM

You betcha! Hey how talks like that! ;)

Beehive,  December 7, 2009 12:36 AM

You betcha! Hey who talks like that anyway!;)

Recovering Democrat,  December 7, 2009 12:37 AM

Anything associated with Palin will sell ... I would buy a stuffed moose with Palin embroidered on it. I think Sarah needs to match all the Obama merchandise being sold in the NBC stores.

PatrickinOH,  December 7, 2009 12:37 AM

Night everyone talk to you all tomorrow

onexsturtle,  December 7, 2009 12:38 AM

So cool!

Nancy,  December 7, 2009 12:39 AM

Night Patrick! Thanks for the laughs!:)

Whitney,  December 7, 2009 12:39 AM

Hey RD- we're twins!

Uffda,  December 7, 2009 12:42 AM

Ewww, anything but another Bush. I agree on the other points. It should be someone with military of foreign policy experience, in my opinion.

The only fly in that ointment is that I can't picture Petreus leaving his job to run for VP.

onexsturtle,  December 7, 2009 12:43 AM

Yes, I'm glad that article exposes the fact that Sarah does not wear her religion her sleeve while governing.

karenfromny,  December 7, 2009 12:44 AM

 He doesn't have any.

onexsturtle,  December 7, 2009 12:46 AM

If you read "Sarah From Alaska," you'll know that she likes to revise the speeches written by the speechwriters to make it her own. Matthew Scully appreciated her taking the time out to do that.

ellen,  December 7, 2009 12:46 AM

dont feel too bad, I have 6 finals this week!!

Uffda,  December 7, 2009 12:50 AM

I didn't mention it because I've been gone for a couple days and thought it had been discussed, but you can download those emails here: http://www.alternet.org/rss/breaking_news/99767/_palin_gets_another_ethics_complaint_(read_her_staff

Good stuff.

Ashley,  December 7, 2009 12:58 AM

Does anyone think Sarah will extend her book tour? I am so upset. I didn't get to go to either of the two book signings in Virginia that I planned on going to. I live in Maryland. I just want to meet her! :(

Ashley,  December 7, 2009 12:58 AM

<span>Does anyone think Sarah will extend her book tour? I am so upset. I didn't get to go to either of the two book signings in Virginia that I planned on going to. I live in Maryland. I just want to meet her! :(</span>

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 1:02 AM

YEP!

Recovering Democrat,  December 7, 2009 1:03 AM

Sarah should market her own line of hats! :)

Whitney,  December 7, 2009 1:06 AM

Yes, she should. :) All the delegates at the RNC should wear them at the convention. Then they would look stylish instead of ridiculous. That's one thing I don't get about the conventions--the ridiculous hats.

Izzy,  December 7, 2009 1:07 AM

I have no idea...sorry you missed her in Virginia.  I met her twice...in Roanoke, VA, and Fairfax, VA.  In person, Sarah is even more adorable...very sweetie and engaging.  Todd, Trig, Sarah's parents...they are a blessed family indeed.  I was very honored to meet them.

Lakerfanalways,  December 7, 2009 1:08 AM

Im still trying to find out the name of the hat sarah has on.its an awesome hat and I want to buy it, I found a similar looking one yesterday on amazon.com but was told it was not the same hat so if anyone can find out the real name of the hat please let me know..also the pic of trig playing with his socks, cutest pic EVER!! He is absolutely ADORABLE

ellen,  December 7, 2009 1:12 AM

Its no problem on my laptop either.
The old system was nice because I could secretly read the comments on my RSS reader while I was at work :) I suppose its actually a good thing that I can't now.

AKReport,  December 7, 2009 1:12 AM

Palin will pick Rudy or Pawlenty as her V.P imo

ellen,  December 7, 2009 1:15 AM

Anyone notice how SarahPAC has just the first part of the book tour up on their site? The last date they have is November 24th.  If Palin is going to be using SarahPAC to fund her helping out candidates in the 2010 race, I hope they get their stuff together and update the website.

AKReport,  December 7, 2009 1:17 AM

yeah she needs to hire C4P ;)

Uffda,  December 7, 2009 1:17 AM

YUP! (just to be different)

ellen,  December 7, 2009 1:17 AM

Have you ever noticed how in every single picture and video of Trig everyone around him is smiling? He is the cutest.

The left would have you believe that he is 'imperfect', but they could not be more wrong.

Uffda,  December 7, 2009 1:19 AM

Who knows? She'll take the holidays off, at least. I hope.

ellen,  December 7, 2009 1:19 AM

Im pretty sure she already has! Either that or there is a black hole somewhere that sucks in all the veteran contributors to this site!

Brian72,  December 7, 2009 1:21 AM

There is something going around that Sarah's Facebook fan comment section is being "censored".

Some Minnesota Republican whose avatar says "Dump Bachmann" claims this, and another person at Michelle Malkin's site just popped in and said the same thing.

Anybody got the backstory on this?
