It appears you guys could use one. I don't have much to put up today but congratulations to Adam Brickley for his debut post over at the Weekly Standard blog. Adam has good news for our regulars and readers from Australia because "insurgent, populist Conservatives are scoring victories Down Under as well as in America -- and Tea Partiers and Palinistas here in the States would do well to watch conservative Aussie leader Tony Abbott very closely."
Brickley also conducted an interview with Adam Andrzejewski, a Republican candidate running to become the next governor of Illinois. When Brickley asked Andrezejewski about Governor Palin, the candidate said the following: "I like Sarah Palin. She put the check register – the checkbook of Alaska online. She took the old boys’ codified permanent, professional political class of Alaska, and she beat ‘em, and she should run for President."
Rasmussen also shows Marco Rubio and Charlie Crist in a dead heat for the first time.
What else is going on tonight?
Update: Governor Palin has announced on twitter that the public Alaska book signings may take place on December 22nd.

My guess is that questions 12-17 are about Palin and Republicans.
The Washington Post/ABC News produced a fair sample for the first time this year. The only real difference between this poll and the last one is that the sample changed from a 54/38 split of Democrat and indy lean Democrat/Republican and indy lean Republican to a split of 45/44 of Democrat and indy lean Democrat/Republican and indy lean Republican.
I'd still label Crist the slight favorite from the Rasmussen poll.
It appears that a slim majority of the undecided voters are moderate/liberal Republicans and Crist is winning these two groups by over a 2-to-1 margin.
Rubio probably isn't winning conservative Republicans by a wide enough margin. He'll need a victory of at least 20 points over Crist and right now, the margin is 52-40 for Rubio.

Thank you Adam for acknowledging the situation Down Here. Some time ago I posted that the parallels between Australia and the US were remarkable, but all negative: i.e. we both had leaders who are more spin than substance, apologise for our nation as though that is a sign of strength, spend like drunken sailors and want to sacrifice our unstable economy on a green altar with a ludicrous, disastrous tax.
The similarities ended there, since the US had at least one true hope waiting in the wings, and we did not. Our opposition leader may as well have been a labor plant.
Until now: Tony Abbott's narrow victory in the party room was really a vote on the ETS (our PM's cap-and-tax), but the conservatives will be pleasantly surprised at what else he has to offer.
Abbott has nothing like Palin's celebrity power and charisma, but like her he is a straight talker. At last we have a representative. ANd the media hate him. It's not quite PDS, but an Aussie equivalent. That's a good sign!
Today I got an email from Tony Abbott. The Libs (remember the down-under definition of "liberal" differs to our brothers and sisters' stateside!) are now seeking a grassroots troop surge based on the countless emails they've received imploring them to sink the ETS, including several from me. Liberal Party membership has gone from being stagnant to growing.

<span>Did Sarah Palin really have plastic surgery? You betcha!When Sarah Palin went missing right after she resigned, one of the numerous rumors circulating about was that she was having some "work done" and would resurface when she healed.
However when she started missing a bunch of speaking engagements I thought "Hmm what else could it be?" And then when she finally surfaced for the China speech I was pretty sure she had SOMETHING done, but being a guy I did not know exactly what. However the ever inquisitive Bree Palin had quite a bit to say on the subject.
So last night I received a call from a friend who actually KNEW that Sarah had indeed undergone cosmetic surgery. I asked for clarification that this was on the up and up, and received confirmation that it was indeed.
The procedures that Sarah had done were an upper nasolabial fold lift, cheek implants, a mid facelift, she had her eyebrows fixed, and she had something called a sideburn graft. The surgeon did an admirable job, but if you look carefully at the first two pictures in the graphic below you can see the alterations.
Now this last procedure, the sideburn graft, is important because it was an infection from THAT part of the surgery which caused the weird lump on the side of Sarah's face, as seen above.
My understanding is that this is not that uncommon. Why Sarah left the house like this I am not so sure.
It was ALSO confirmed that the slow healing process from these procedures were the reason why Sarah missed the Ronald Reagan speech in July, her appearance at an anti-abortion petition signing at Changepoint church in August, as well as the the Values Voters Summit in Washington on September 17. That is the conclusion that I had reached before, so this simply verifies that we were on the right track all along.
From what I understand for a portion of this time Sarah looked like she "had been worked over with a baseball bat" and simply could NOT be seen in public. However now that her scars have healed I have to say the surgeon did some very good work. I assume he signed a non-disclosure form preventing him from discussing it, but that is too bad because Sarah Palin is not a bad advertisement for his business.
Now the only reason that this is in any way news worthy is because 1) we never heard the truth for why Palin went missing, 2) she recently made fun of Joe Biden's hairplugs (Pot meet kettle), 3) and this definitely makes it clear that Palin understands that her looks are key to her success in politics. It seems clear that Sarah knows that when her looks fade, so does her influence.

His experience is military, which is what I think Sarah needs. I think his last gig was as an advisor in Afghanistan training Afghan troops to defend their own country, so he's been around. And the man has backbone to beat the band. And he's a solid conservative.

My sister goes from job to job, she's 54 years old. No insurance.
With the health-care reform, where would she go to get insurance ? What would her premium be ? Co-pay ? Benefits ? etc.

And then there are safety concerns... public events where she has proper security are one thing to tweet about. personal travel schedules are another.

Supposedly Sarah hopped on a plane to Hawaii for a quick vacation after the Elmendorf book-signing. Kim Chatman (ethics complaint filer) told the left wing rags that she saw Palin at the airport with a black wig or something and Trig playing (wait for it) WITHOUT SOCKS!

When I was in junior high school and read the constitution, I noticed that the wording of the requirements to be President all said, "he." I decided at age 12 or 13 that I could never be President. A loyal reader of Alaska blogs called to tell me that sister Sarah, sporting dark glasses, a baseball cap, and long dark hair (wig?) was spotted at Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage at 8:00 a.m. this morning. She was apparently waiting at the gate to board a plane on its way to Hawaii. That's right, the birthplace of our terrorist loving Muslim President, Hawaii.
WTF, you say? How can she be headed to Hawaii, when she is supposed to be having a public book signing in Alaska? Well THAT is a very good question. But she did promise <span>("We will have a public book signing. Some guys are trying to organize that now as we speak, and I promise we'll do that," she said.</span>) so of course we know we can count on her to keep her word. After all when has Sarah <span>lied to the American people</span>. Not to mention that just last night she <span>tweeted</span> the following.

Well despite those assurance via radio and Twitter, it looks like the Twitter Quitter has indeed flown the coop. So while her few remaining Alaska fans are convinced that Sarah has returned home to them, in actual fact she is once again getting the hell out of Dodge.
According to my source the only Palin family members present, besides Sarah herself, were husband Todd (Did you get that roof fixed Todd?), little Trig (without shoes and socks and crawling around on the filthy airport floor), and Piper who wandering around the nearby shops unattended. Nowhere to be found were Willow, Bristol, and baby Tripp.
CRAZINESS PT. 2:
Now I think we can all agree that Sarah, and her family of handy props, deserve a vacation. I mean after all, pimping a book and pretending that you actually like the people who come to fawn over you must be exhausting. But the timing is a little odd.
After all school vacation in Alaska starts at the end of this week. And yes I know that Willow and Piper have missed almost the whole year of school, but still you would think they could put this off until the kids could say good bye to their school chums and get their make up work. (Which must be substantial.)
And maybe that is why Willow was not with them, perhaps she needed to finish her finals in Palmer before heading off to join the family. But who is left behind to drive her to school and make sure she does her homework? Bristol? Doesn't she have ENOUGH responsibilities?
Or maybe Sarah plans on making this an educational opportunity. For instance they could all go to visit Hilo, Hawaii and see the college that she attended and one of the first places she quit.
And afterward Sarah could take a moment to point out how unglamorous the <span>Asian and Pacific Islanders</span> are. "Look kids they can't afford REAL necklaces like us, so they have to make theirs out of flowers!"
Or perhaps they might decide to try and to locate a certain <span>document</span>. "Looks fake to me. Don't you agree Piper?"
I think it is time that Alaskans finally came to realize that despite her protestations to the contrary Sarah Palin is "just not that into Alaska anymore". And you know what? The feeling is mutual lady!
Gee I hope her new face does not get too much sun and fall off. That would be terrible. Well maybe "terrible" is not exactly the right word for it.

San Diego is also full of minorities. Yet Sarah chose that place to "write" her book. It's a good thing she was working 20-hour days, according to her Dad, otherwise she would have had to "put up" with all the Asians and latinos.
