Obama Campaign Hack David Plouffe Concedes Defeat to Palin

Remember the desperate attempt by David Plouffe to gin up sales for his lightly-read book? Well, Plouffe has now conceded that he failed miserably in his effort to outsell Governor Palin's memoir, Going Rogue, for a day.

What's even funnier is that Plouffe is still begging people to purchase his book despite the fact that it was released in early November. If Plouffe hasn't figured it out by now, the American people simply aren't buying what he's selling (I'm still waiting for the Associated Press to fact-check Plouffe's unsupported claim that Governor Palin's speech at the RNC convention speech only appealed to the "base" of the Republican Party).

Is he planning on retitling his book the Audacity to Lose?

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 3:52 PM

He is delusional to even think it would happen.

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 3:53 PM

No accusations of bulk ordering of his book!

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 3:55 PM

Maybe he could go down to a street corner and hand his book out to passersby.
And then look at the books strewn all over the sidewalk, a few feet past him.
Like the sales flyers people stick in your face to take.

MarkRNY,  December 11, 2009 3:55 PM

If a Plouffe falls in the forest (etc.)

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 3:57 PM

Is this the same guy that missed hitting Governor Palin with a tomato?
Because both missed their marks by a wwwwiiiiiiiiiiiidddddeee margin.

Whitney,  December 11, 2009 3:57 PM

I think it's rediculous he wants us to believe they were surprised about Rev Wright stuff coming out, and they didn't really plan for anything of that nature. It's his PR way of spinning the fact that it's not important, and he can't believe people would make an issue of something like that, that to him is so irrelevant. Guess what Plouffe, that's your job.  How dumb does he think the American public is?

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 3:59 PM

This guy would get more attention for his book, if he could get Governor Palin to say something about his book. Anything.

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 4:01 PM

I know President Obama won't read his book. It has the word win in the title.

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 4:03 PM

This is the only book President Obama will ever read with the word win in the title. Because it is about him winning.

Dan C,  December 11, 2009 4:04 PM

great huh Whitney, so you and I will have them as neighbors. Well, there are enough killers in Chicago/Illinois as it is.

Whitney,  December 11, 2009 4:08 PM

By the way, I cannot wait until the day that the 3rd through 5th words of this post title are removed:

Obama Campaign Concedes Defeat to Palin

MarkRNY,  December 11, 2009 4:11 PM

Memories. Poor The Once.

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 4:19 PM

In this corner, weighing in at a hulking 105 lbs. wearing soaking wet, purple Depends, and sassy purple tassles!
David Poof, er, Poop, uh, David Plooff!

And in this corner, with black sharpie in right hand, holding Trig in her left arm, and wearing her  flipping the left off, green commie hat!
The one and only, master of the bestseller's list, kicker of gonads, and exclusive tripwire to exploding all lefty's heads!
The Irrelevant! The Quitter! The Prominent Politician! And The Denier of all things Al Gore! Governor (the sound of looney's heads heard exploding in the background) Sarah Palin!

Let's Get Ready to Rumble!

Whitney,  December 11, 2009 4:20 PM

I guess with Obama, Durbin, and Quinn this was inevitable, but it still stinks!

terri,  December 11, 2009 4:21 PM

Dan,

Yep, the powder is dry.  urggg

Anonymous,  December 11, 2009 4:23 PM

one punch KO by the guv!

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 4:27 PM

Well, it seems, folks, that David Poop, Plooff, took one look at Governor Palin come charging out of her corner, and he screamed like he was being chased by a bee, and ran clear out of the arena! And from reports outside the arena, got ran over by the Going Rogue bus, after tripping over people waiting in line to get their Going Rogue book signed! What a turn of events! He has been taken to the hospital, and is said to be resting comfortably, with the tv off, for fear if David is exposed to anymore coverage of Governor Palin it will have long-lasting psychological damage.

GAHanson,  December 11, 2009 4:33 PM

Plouffe's book is sinking back down to where it was before he pulled his little stunt.  It never came close, not even breaking into the top 100 books at either Amazon or Barnes and Noble.  What a pathetic attention seeking little man.

Basil,  December 11, 2009 4:43 PM

Plouffe - n: The sound made when one f*rts in the bathtub.

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 4:43 PM

Other Books that would sell more than David Plouffe's Audacity to Win:

1)  <span>Piper's Postings</span> - a children's book for families that highlight Piper's thoughts of the Going Rogue Book tour with Mom.

2)  <span>Jason's Table Thoughts</span> - Right hand man to Governor Palin during Book tour provides candid commentary about unusual, down right hilarious, and candid thoughts of Palin supporters when they first meet Governor Palin and shake her hand.

3)  <span>Todd's Tweets</span> - First dude Todd provides a summary of the book tour; focusing his first 100 pages on the Gridiron Dinner and meeting Barney Frank and the rest of the intellectual media crowd of Washington.  Andrea Mitchell gets special mention from Todd.

LadySam,  December 11, 2009 4:44 PM

Check out the pictures on Sarah's FB.

GAHanson,  December 11, 2009 4:44 PM

Gov. Palin's red jacket is now at $30,000 with 6 days and 18 hours to go.  Laura Ingraham told BOR last night she was hoping it would get up to $100,000, at that time bidding was only at about $7000.

terri,  December 11, 2009 4:47 PM

WOW, waaaaay outta my league!

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 4:52 PM

Nancy, I read your post and my thoughts went straight to Las Vegas when I am on vacation with friends walking on the Las Vegas Strip.  If you've been there, you know what I am talking about.  If not, let's just say there are guys running all over the place, especially at the stop lights handing out little booklets that Tiger Woods seems to use from time to time over the years.  Of course once they throw them in your face, they all end up on the ground.

The cops don't stop them.  It continues year after year.  What happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas.  :)

Lakerfanalways,  December 11, 2009 4:53 PM

Looks like Plouffe went POOF..such a shame..NOT!! Poor guy, he thought he stood a chance, and then realized that he is pathetic so he moved on..no one cares about his stupid book..Kinda OT but did anyone find out what media segment Sarah is doing, she tweeted about it last night but havent heard anything about it szince

Lakerfanalways,  December 11, 2009 4:53 PM

I'd get the jacket but WOW, 30,000, that is way out of my league too..unless Obama wants to give me some of that stimulus money LOL

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 4:54 PM

riley,
LOL! That is exactly what I was thinking about!

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 4:56 PM

Whit, sorry to hear this news.  Travesty.

Governor Palin should write a Facebook on this and travel to IL sometime in the next few months.

Nothing would be sweeter than Palin on Obama's home turf telling IL residents that the POTUS thinks its safer to keep terrorists in his home state of IL instead of outside the US.

panchita,  December 11, 2009 4:56 PM

david "clutch cargo" shuster msnbc hack. anyone remember that cartoon? they where characterized by human mouths. well david currently telling us that Sarah "among republican circles here, she doesn't know what she's talking about"

Sarah totallh owns these clowns.

Inept.

I knew. I had watched them. They were on the church website as "best of" sermons.  But, they didn't know.
d
Inept.

They didn't know that Wright's view were not mainstream.

Obama, after 20 years, did not know.

Wright was normal to them.

Does that scare you?

"<span>Among the startling revelations: Plouffe writes that Team Obama was caught totally off-guard when ABC News first aired video clips of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's fiery sermons last March, since aides failed to do basic opposition research on their own candidate. </span>
<span>
"We just didn't prepare as extensively," Plouffe told us on ABC's "Top Line" today. "We had answered a lot of questions about it, and looked at a lot of sermons. But what we hadn't done really was sit down and watched every single one of them on video.""</span>

PEC,  December 11, 2009 5:01 PM

Actually this was a backbreaker for Obama.  Pflouffe used Obama's big Database and never cracked the top 100.  His supporters could buy them from anywhere.  The "Evil" Palin is wearing off as people stand in unemployment lines.

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 5:01 PM

Only 120K more to go and then Nicole Wallace will make her bid.

PEC,  December 11, 2009 5:03 PM

If nobody else bids this is successful.  30000 dollars?  Wow.  That is a chunk of change.

A,  December 11, 2009 5:05 PM

I want a Piper book.

I have had that on my list of "Sarah books" for a long time.

Maybe a general growing up in Alaska book with stories from the childhoods of the Heaths and Palins.

Mostly others could do it, so it would not take much of Sarah's time.

And, Piper and the others could do book signings.  How cool is that!

Anonymous,  December 11, 2009 5:05 PM

o/t but palin jacket being auctioned by laura ingraham  is now over 30k- pretty amazing

A,  December 11, 2009 5:06 PM

Yup, Sarah does wear expensive clothes.

A,  December 11, 2009 5:09 PM

How about a video. Someone tries to sell his book to people on the street. The video shows the reactions.

Priceless.

A,  December 11, 2009 5:10 PM

They want to be sure Sarah carries 50 states.

The Democrats may have a bad year in Illinois in 2010.

Whitney,  December 11, 2009 5:10 PM

This would a be a great topic for the Governor to write about. Greta actually asked her what she would think about the detainees being brought to Alaska. She said it would be up to what the people of Alaska. Well, the people of Illinois do not want this. Our governor and one of our senators say this will create jobs, but earlier this year, our governor cut prison jobs as a budgetary measure. He is still in a fight with the unions and the courts about this, but it just shows that Illinois politicians are willing to do anything for federal money. This may bring some jobs to a downtrodden area, but it decreases our safety and is just a representation of the spinelessness of our current state and federal administration.

OK, I'm done with my rant now. Sorry.

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 5:24 PM

Rant away.  I am pissed for you.  And I'm pissed for me too.  These people will only be housed one state away from me.

As a matter of fact, Governor Palin should make this a major topic of her stump speech when she travels to the midwestern states in 2010.

POTUS picks his home state to house terrorists when the people of the state don't want them.  Are you listening Obama?  How stupid is this Administration?

Anonymous,  December 11, 2009 5:24 PM

o/t when is the guv's interview with tammy bruce?

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 5:27 PM

I heard Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel is administering David's meds to keep his blood pressure stable, but.....

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 11, 2009 5:27 PM

lol, what a buffon!

hey plouffe, Sarah has millions of supporters who are democrats like me!!!!!!

I wouldn't want your book if you paid me!!

riley4palin,  December 11, 2009 5:32 PM

How is it that David Shuster is given screen time on any media channel?  He must be a relative of someone within the NBC family and they felt sorry for him.  Noone in the right mind would ever hire that hack.

Alexonian,  December 11, 2009 5:40 PM

OFF TOPIC

Regarding the Governor's forthcoming speech in Canada, 90% of poll respondents don't want her to speak. Time for us to lend our voices to that poll, don't you think.

The poll is on the webpage of this Newspaper

CharterOakie,  December 11, 2009 5:50 PM

Why settle for 50?  Sarah should go for all 57 states.

defendAmerica,  December 11, 2009 5:52 PM

sounds like its time to start packing your bags and get out while the getting is good, Whit!

CharterOakie,  December 11, 2009 5:57 PM

Voted.  Down to 89% now.
Thanks for the alert.

techno,  December 11, 2009 5:58 PM

Isn't it fitting that Plouffe was present on the same stage at the University of Delaware when Steve Schmidt made the shocking admission he knew the McCain campaign was kaput on Sept 16, 2008, the day of the Lehman Brothers 'fall from grace'. Two peas from the same pod.

As always, Sarah Palin gets the last laugh.

CharterOakie,  December 11, 2009 5:59 PM

How did a topic which is not generally appropriate become the subject of posts about the Obama "safe schools czar"?

http://rsmccain.blogspot.com/2009/12/best-fisting-blog-evah.html

I am acting like the news media acts on some stories. I am not discussing the story. I am discussing the discussion of the story.

This is one of the things that the Obama campaign "achieved."

Change.

techno,  December 11, 2009 6:13 PM

This is slightly off topic because it pertains to another Democrat but does reveal a different side to the Democratic party and not all Democrats are like James Carville or David Plouffe who dismiss Sarah Palin as a credible candidate.

Green jobs. Is green the color of the guard uniforms? Or of the powdered eggs at breakfast?
Or of the mold growing on the fetid brown lumps that serve as the brains of the powers that be?

cookboy,  December 11, 2009 6:25 PM

At this point it's not a matter of thinking we're dumb, smart, or anything else. Those f#@kers won, and they're gonna pack as much s#@t as possible down our throats while they can. That's the deal. We can only resist as we can 'til the ever changing climate becomes more suitable to ways of the freedom loving, producing Americans.

juju,  December 11, 2009 6:31 PM

That is a very good article and the comments are great too.

yogi41,  December 11, 2009 6:41 PM

Yeah, I'd like to know that, too. I hope it's still on, as Tammy has been super supportive of the Governor.

Tommy Report,  December 11, 2009 6:46 PM

Kristol cites Palin's comments in his Weekly Standard article.  He thinks Obama is setting up the possibility of striking Iran (I think Kristol is wrong here.)

'I liked what he said. I talked too in my book about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times.'

Thus spoke Sarah Palin. The recipient of her praise? Barack Obama, for last week's Nobel Peace Prize address.

Those Canadians sure love their socialied medicine, I wonder how its working out for them

Bestbud,  December 11, 2009 7:39 PM

juju

don't go there!

GAHanson,  December 11, 2009 7:42 PM

Could you imagine how the press would have eaten that up if that had happened at one of Gov. Palin's book signings?  It would have been the lead story on all the networks, and cable, plus the headlines in practically every newspaper in the country.  We would have heard about it for days and days on end, with the video played on a loop at regular intervals for days on CNN, MSNBC, and even on FOX.

Bestbud,  December 11, 2009 7:51 PM

Nancy, thanks for the prayers all went well... Sarah's audio was a blessing to have along... still remembering what a great time we all had Tuesday, good thing I rushed to get there the people and atmosphere were electric, the lines of good patriots just talking it up and supporting Sarah... much different than my Missouri trip cause we didn't have to stand in lines and that's where all the excitement comes from.

Tell the girls thanks for the Hi... haven't had a chance to look at pictures I'll email any you might be interested in if you would like!

Nancy,  December 11, 2009 7:55 PM

Yes, the people in line were wonderful! So much excitement!
I would love to see any pictures you have, thank you!

Regardless of what one's politics, she has great stage presence, that was clear in the brief Tina/Sarah faceoff. She has humor and heart, Schmidt was idiot, Chapter 153, in not letting her go and nip the impression in the bud, instead of letting it gel for the better part of a month and a half

latinchic,  December 12, 2009 12:12 AM

Plouffe = EPIC.FAIL.

Mrs. Terry Johnson,  December 12, 2009 8:20 AM

FDR once said that leadership is getting someone to do what they already want to.
Plouffe must know the famous Dem.
Plouffe inspired me to go buy the audio book of "Rogue" on "Plouffe day".
Thanks... I already wanted to buy it anyway... disk 3 is GREAT!

Bestbud,  December 12, 2009 12:13 PM

Mrs Terry

Audio book is great isn't It?... agree disc 3 is great... I like the reason you bought It... just traveled 600 miles listening  to It sure made my trip easier... Sarah seems to be a natural at what ever she does
