Olson and Plouffe: A Pathetic Tableau; Updated: Why Jeremy Missed

Making up your news of the pathetic today: Jeremy Olson and David Plouffe.

Jeremy Olson decided that instead of expressing his feelings in a productive, calm and rational manner, he'd throw tomatoes at Sarah Palin. Conservatives are the ones who promote violence and lower the level of debate in America, though. The mainstream media told us that most of the summer, as I recall. At any rate, Jeremy the Pathetic missed Gov. Palin (by a wide margin) and hit a police officer. He was arrested on suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct, and may be charged with assaulting a police officer. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

David Plouffe did not throw tomatoes at anyone. At least, not literally. He is, however, just as pathetic as Jeremy. He's apparently not been able to sell very many of his books about the 2008 campaign. So, he's decided to try to generate some sales by encouraging Lefties (those gentle, peace loving, calm and rational individuals like Jeremy Olson) to help him "out sell" Going Rogue tomorrow. Just tomorrow. There's a word for that, David: pathetic.

My suggested response to all this: Buy a copy of Going Rogue (If you already have a copy, take HillBuzz's advice and buy a copy for a local retirement community, library or liberal.), or make a donation to SarahPAC.

Note: My Fox 9 and at least two other outlets have the tomato thrower's name as Jeremy Olson. WCCO has his name as Jeremiah Wobbe. [Update: Apparently the confusion about Jeremy's name was caused because he uses both names. Police originally reported his arrest under the name Jeremiah Wobbe, and later corrected it to Jeremy Olson.]

Update by Doug: As Mel noted above, when the deranged Jeremy wound up and threw his tomato at Governor Palin, he was:

Apparently this inability to accurately throw something is characteristic of the deranged left. Whether it's an egg in Rochester, or pies in Arizona, the left has demonstrated a consistent inability to hit what they're aiming at. Ann Coulter recently diagnosed the reason for this seemingly inexplicable phenomenon:

Last October, two liberals responded to my speech at the University of Arizona — during question and answer, no less — by charging the stage and throwing two pies at me from a few yards away. Fortunately for me, liberals not only argue like liberals, they also throw like girls.

Liberals throw like girls. Hmmmm. This is worthy of a little research:

I concur with Ms. Coulter's diagnosis.

Update by Mel: Add Chris Matthews to the Tableau of the Pathetic.

Update II by Mel: As Tammy Bruce explains, David Frum has earned a spot, as well:

Is this same Jeremy Olson who wrote pro-Obama stories for the St. Paul Pioneer Press?

Lakerfanalways,  December 7, 2009 9:47 PM

Those two are pathetic little trolls arent they. I bet they were both beat up a lot in high schools and had wedgies everyday given to them. Just for their pure BS, I will send 50 bucks to Sarahpac, so thanks Plouffe, and thanks idiot who throws tomatoes like a damn sissy, I am gonna send Sarah some cash

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 7, 2009 9:50 PM

this is getting pretty pathetic.

I'm going to be ordering 2 more of Sarah's book and I am taking Hillbuzz's advise. I want to send them to libraries where they have a lot of requests but only a couple of copies of the book.

If anyone knows of any libraries that would benefit from an extra copy of Sarah's  book, can you please post it here, I will order the books from Amazon and have them shipped out to the libraries ASAP.

Izzy,  December 7, 2009 9:50 PM

I will donate $50 to SarahPAC to counter the pathetic losers:  David Plouffe and Jeremy Olson.

Lakerfanalways,  December 7, 2009 9:54 PM

Thank God she has adequate security. I had read a while back that she carries a gun, I dont blame her. If she feels threatened in anyway, I say shoot first, ask questions later

The Pic in my avatar is my dear son.  Thanks.  My wife and I thank God for our kids.

Tomorrow is indeed a good day to buy extra copies of Going Rogue if you have some spare money.  Donate them to your library, retirement housing, hospital wait rooms, etc.

GR-Sapwolf, Firelight, Cruela, Bestbud,
I just talked to Colorado Springs Borders and they are starting the line at 6:30 am, not 8 am!
I'm going to try to be there at 6:00.

OT Governor saw Obama approved off-shore drilling.  FACEBOOK ALERT!

<span><span>Drill, Baby, Drill... Even Off-Shore</span>Share Today at 10:01pmI commend Interior Secretary Salazar’s decision today to conditionally approve drilling at three exploratory wells in the Chukchi Sea off the northwest coast of Alaska; it’s a decision that’s been a long time coming. The area north of the Arctic Circle contains some of the world’s richest oil and gas reserves. U.S. Geological Survey researchers estimate that it contains 1.6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 83 billion barrels of undiscovered oil.

The international community recognizes the potential of Arctic off-shore drilling; it’s about time our government allowed us to compete with them by developing these rich reserves in an environmentally responsible way. As I said last April in my testimony before the Secretary during a federal hearing in Anchorage, “Alaska’s oil and gas resources can and should be a major part of the implementation of any creditable energy plan for our nation. Alaska has proven that these resources can be developed safely, but Arctic exploration and development is a slow, demanding process. Delays or major restrictions in accessing these resources for environmentally responsible development are not in the national interest or the interests of the State of Alaska.”

As an Alaskan and an American, I am very grateful for the decision today because it is a step in the right direction toward prosperity for Alaska and energy independence and security for America.

Look up lazy in the thesaurus, you'll see Gov. Palin's picture next to antonym.

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 7, 2009 10:11 PM

if Governor Palin or her family reads these threads, all I gotta say:

you go girl!  you have millions of conservative/moderate democrats like me who BACK YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!

Do not back down!  and do not give up!

bassman,  December 7, 2009 10:13 PM

I was there, saw the tomatoes come down. They were not 10 feet as some have reported, and I am not sure Gov. Palin was even aware of what happened.

Sapwolf,  December 7, 2009 10:13 PM

Hey, I'm in a hotel just east of Salina, KS.  I'll be rolling into Colorado Springs by 1:00pm tomorrow.  If I encounter any tomato throwers tomorrow, the dude better hope the police get to him first.

I'm gonna give Sarah a gift, a copy of Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind".  I don't know if she has it in her library yet.

Nancy,  December 7, 2009 10:15 PM

Also, the Borders is in the Chapel Hills Mall, so we will be on line inside for the most part! Whew!:)

Sapwolf,  December 7, 2009 10:16 PM

Oh?  I'll have to leave by 3:00am I guess.  I drove just short of 900 miles today, started from Huntsville, AL.  I hope they are in Mountain Time so I get a bonus extra hour while crossing timezones.

juju,  December 7, 2009 10:22 PM

You really get around Sapwolf...sounds like lots of un to me.

GAHanson,  December 7, 2009 10:30 PM

Audacity to Win is #189 at Amazon and #884 at B&N, which is up from #291 and #1444 respectively on the day that Plouffe made his youtube video, so there has been an uptic since then.  He'd have to sell an awful lot of books to get to #1 and stay there for an entire day.  I doubt if he can even capture the #1 slot for an hour much less the entire day.  I'll keep an eye on it, and let you know how it turns out tomorrow.

I'm disappointed that I didn't make it to the MOA today, bad cold, and wife said she didn't want me turning it into phneumonia by standing outside.  I'm confident that Gov. Palin will visit MN again, maybe even next year, so I'll eventually get to see her.

The tomoto thrower doesn't surprise me a bit, we have leftwing kooks here who like to go around scratching expensive cars, and performing other acts of vandalism in the name of "the cause."  They also like to stand along the roadside with signs promoting some leftwing cause or another and when cars don't honk their support they give them the finger, and yell obscenities at the drivers.  In other words, a real classy bunch.

bassman,  December 7, 2009 10:36 PM

KSTP is reporting what I just said. Sarah was unaware.
Bloomington police arrested a man for throwing two tomatoes at Sarah Palin at Mall of America Monday afternoon.
Jeremy Paul Olson, 33, was arrested for assault and disorderly conduct.
Palin was never aware of the incident.
The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee was at the mall to sign copies of her book 'Going Rogue.'
One of the tomatoes hit a Bloomington police officer who was providing security.
The Huffington Post lies.

Sapwolf,  December 7, 2009 10:36 PM

I was on my way to CA anyway for the Christmas season.  I'm trying to line up my next job to start some time in January.

I'll Romney and Huckabee's books are not doing to well.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 7, 2009 10:46 PM

Thank God this pathetic loser, Olson, has as bad a throwing arm as his "hero" obama.  I would like five minutes alone in a room with this piece of sh%$.  Pardon my "French," guys!!

Still, this reminds us that we must be vigilant, daily and even hourly, in our prayers and sacrifices for her safety.

God bless you all!!

You're always told that "no one's irreplaceable". Not true. There are times and situations when a certain person is. Being as objective as I can be where she's concerned, I truly believe that Sarah Palin of Alaska is irreplaceable.

I'm with you Brianus.

I pray for her safety every night..my biggest fear is that something terrible happens to her. It takes one looney tune to make an attempt on her life. I had read a while back that she carries a gun, I hope thats true. I just want her safe..and Im glad that she takes her children along on the book tour, I think that is a wonderful thing, but I hope that someone is watching them VERY closely, especially baby Trig, it takes one second for someone to come and kidnap him or Piper, I know its a scary thought, but seriously, they have to be aware. There are a lot of whackso in this world. I hope she has armed guards with her at all times

Sheya, that woman was definately an IDIOT. Its obviously a book tour, geez what do people want from her "Oh she only talked to people for 10 seconds each" DUH, cause its a BOOK TOUR and there were 1000 people + waiting there, what did she want her to do, sit down with each person one by one, so she would have had to be there all night..I dont know who this Henderson woman is but she was a buffoon

Lakerfanalways,  December 8, 2009 12:10 AM

I have NO Doubt in my wife she is being paid to do it...notice how she left Sarah alone after she resigned, didnt hear a word from her, now all of a sudden POOF more ethics complaints, notice that..Sarah becomes more popular, goes on her book tour, makes tons of money, her poll numbers goes up, and this woman all of a sudden comes out of the woodwork again..coincidence, I think NOT

palinow,  December 8, 2009 1:39 AM

good point.  she is being told what to do.

Recovering Democrat,  December 8, 2009 1:39 AM

Here's what I wrote to Chris Matthews:

Well, we can add sexism to <span>Chris Matthews crimes</span> against humanity. For weeks he's been on a racist rant against the "white" crowds at Sarah's book signings, caring not that white people come from all backgrounds, and there were even some Democrats in Iowa who came out for Sarah. I guess everything takes a back seat to the color of their skin where Mr. Matthews is concerned. He didn't even notice that one woman from <span>China</span> flew all the way to Rochester to see Sarah. Chris is all about the racism.

Now, he insinuated in his show today that Sarah didn't write her book or any part of her speech. What a prick! First of all, the viewer naturally wonders if Matthews even bothered to READ Sarah's book in the first place (he likes to mock Sarah for supposedly not reading). Anyone reading the book and her <span>Facebook</span> notes, which she told Greta she writes herself, can recognize it's the same voice.

Secondly, Matthews in his condescending derision of an accomplished woman ignores the fact she was a journalism major, ignores the fact she told Oprah that the book arose out of her journals that she's kept for going on  40 YEARS, and Matthews conveniently doesn't bother to research an interview given by Chuck Heath, Sarah's dad, where he describes the PAINSTAKING process Sarah undertook writing her book last summer.

I quote Mr. Heath as told to the <span>Springfield News-Leader</span>:

"Sarah put in 20 hour days, day after day after day for the whole month of August. She's kept journals her whole life. People who say she didn't write the book, what can I say? She wrote the book."

Does that satisfy you Mr. Misogynist Speech Writer?

Furthermore, you inexplicitly seem to hold <span>Sarah Palin</span> to a much higher standard than any other politician. You want her book and her jokes to be solely her own with no help. She reportedly engaged the help of <span>Al Gore</span>'s former joke writer, but you don't have a problem with Gore not "writing his own jokes." (Nor did you have a problem with Hillary using a ghostwriter to help write her books, as most politicians do).

Also, we know for a fact Sarah came with a few jokes of her own because someone told her the joke about Going Rogaine in the book tour. She has good timing and delivery, as well. But that doesn't matter to you.

So what does any of this prove?

You're not playing Hardball, Chris. You're playing SpitBall. Why don't you take Sarah at <span>face value</span>, evaluate her ideas for the country, and stop making up nonsense about her being some kind of a lightweight. She's more of a heavy weight than you could possible admit. And maybe that's why you resort to the lowest kind of insulting tactics.

Just to let everyone know, based on sales at Barnes and Noble through December 7th, Going Rogue is now the 4th biggest selling book for the year 2009, up from 5th place last week.  Ahead of Going Rogue is:  The Lost Symbol, The Twilight Saga Collection, and Liberty and Tyranny.  So, it is actually the 2nd highest selling non-fiction book of the year at B&N.  Will Going Rogue overtake Liberty and Tyranny?  I think it will.

Going Rogue is also closing in on being #1 in ALL BOOKS at Amazon for the 4th straight week, twice as long as Hillary's Living History was at #1.

Ashley,  December 8, 2009 2:37 AM

LOL where did you read that?

Ashley,  December 8, 2009 2:42 AM

That's her.

A,  December 8, 2009 3:01 AM

Going Rogue is #4 for 2009 at B&N.com through Dec. 7. They didn't participate in the price war but they did OK.

Sarah will be about 1,100,000 Facebook friends when she gets home.

I expect a publisher's report of 1,500,000 sales soon.

Will they print 3,000,000 this year?

This book has legs.

it has cracked the glass ceiling, and is breaking through.

A,  December 8, 2009 3:05 AM

You beat me. I hadn't noticed.

A,  December 8, 2009 3:09 AM

A,  December 8, 2009 3:33 AM

Sarah has 3 of the top 11 on this list. And see #24.

When the ebook comes out, maybe she will have 4 of the top 5 or so.

And the paperback...

And the next book, and the next, and ....

Yes, but it is worth posting anyway.

I'm thinking how the Chinese know the end result.

Allie,  December 8, 2009 12:04 PM

Of course she is either paid or somehow is being coerced to do it.  It makes no sense that Sarah had such a high approval rating in Alaska before being tapped for VP nominee and all of a sudden she goes back to Alaska and her ratings drop and she is bombarded with numerous ethics complaints.  Then she resigns and they think they accomplished what they set out to do but the book comes out and it is a best seller, so naturally they have to try and destroy her once more.

Some of these bloggers are so deranged that when they cannot write anything negative they attack her looks, i.e.  she had plastic surgery that was why she wasn't seen for a while, she had her teeth fixed, she is wearing wigs because she is losing her hair, she has lost a lot of weight (meth addiction is one of their reasoning for the former comments), she is divorcing Todd and threw her ring in the lake, her shoes are ridiculous, her skirts are too short (they call them minis even though I have always seen her wearing skirts that are at the knee, just above or mid knee).  In other words, just crazy comments.
