Sarah Palin: Copenhagen's Political Science

Governor Palin just wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post on the recent Climategate scandal and Obama's upcoming ill-conceived photo-op in Copenhagen:

With the publication of damaging e-mails from a climate research center in Britain, the radical environmental movement appears to face a tipping point. The revelation of appalling actions by so-called climate change experts allows the American public to finally understand the concerns so many of us have articulated on this issue.

"Climate-gate," as the e-mails and other documents from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia have become known, exposes a highly politicized scientific circle -- the same circle whose work underlies efforts at the Copenhagen climate change conference. The agenda-driven policies being pushed in Copenhagen won't change the weather, but they would change our economy for the worse.

The e-mails reveal that leading climate "experts" deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to "hide the decline" in global temperatures, and tried to silence their critics by preventing them from publishing in peer-reviewed journals. What's more, the documents show that there was no real consensus even within the CRU crowd. Some scientists had strong doubts about the accuracy of estimates of temperatures from centuries ago, estimates used to back claims that more recent temperatures are rising at an alarming rate.

This scandal obviously calls into question the proposals being pushed in Copenhagen. I've always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics. As governor of Alaska, I took a stand against politicized science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population had more than doubled. I got clobbered for my actions by radical environmentalists nationwide, but I stood by my view that adding a healthy species to the endangered list under the guise of "climate change impacts" was an abuse of the Endangered Species Act. This would have irreversibly hurt both Alaska's economy and the nation's, while also reducing opportunities for responsible development.

Our representatives in Copenhagen should remember that good environmental policymaking is about weighing real-world costs and benefits -- not pursuing a political agenda. That's not to say I deny the reality of some changes in climate -- far from it. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. I was one of the first governors to create a subcabinet to deal specifically with the issue and to recommend common-sense policies to respond to the coastal erosion, thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice that affect Alaska's communities and infrastructure.

But while we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can't say with assurance that man's activities cause weather changes. We can say, however, that any potential benefits of proposed emissions reduction policies are far outweighed by their economic costs. And those costs are real. Unlike the proposals China and India offered prior to Copenhagen -- which actually allow them to increase their emissions -- President Obama has proposed serious cuts in our own long-term carbon emissions. Meeting such targets would require Congress to pass its cap-and-tax proposals, which will result in job losses and higher energy costs (as Obama admitted during the campaign). That's not exactly what most Americans are hoping for these days. And as public opposition continues to stall Congress's cap-and-tax plans, Environmental Protection Agency bureaucrats plan to regulate carbon emissions themselves, doing an end run around the American people.

In fact, we're not the only nation whose people are questioning climate change schemes. In the European Union, energy prices skyrocketed after it began a cap-and-tax program. Meanwhile, Australia's Parliament recently defeated a cap-and-tax bill. Surely other nations will follow suit, particularly as the climate e-mail scandal continues to unfold.

In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to "restore science to its rightful place." But instead of staying home from Copenhagen and sending a message that the United States will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices, the president has upped the ante. He plans to fly in at the climax of the conference in hopes of sealing a "deal." Whatever deal he gets, it will be no deal for the American people. What Obama really hopes to bring home from Copenhagen is more pressure to pass the Democrats' cap-and-tax proposal. This is a political move. The last thing America needs is misguided legislation that will raise taxes and cost jobs -- particularly when the push for such legislation rests on agenda-driven science.

Without trustworthy science and with so much at stake, Americans should be wary about what comes out of this politicized conference. The president should boycott Copenhagen.

The UN press release today noted that 'July was the second warmest on record for Alaska.' I have my doubts as to whether that is true ....... but what they ignored, what is an absolute fact, is that last summer was the coldest on record.

Anchorage hit 70 on July 4, 2008 and 72 on July 6, 2008 and every other day was in the 50s and 60s.

Penny,  December 8, 2009 8:55 PM

This was an excellent!

Kjanlady,  December 8, 2009 9:04 PM

Oh Sarah, guess you aren't wired to waste a moment.  Wonderful piece........and we haven't heard the slighest complaint about the pain your poor hand must be feeling after tens of thousands of signatures.

God bless.....and keep it up......Oblamo looks like the fool that we all know he is.

manajordan,  December 8, 2009 9:07 PM

Goodness she is busy these days. This was really well written, and on point. More people are waking up to the politics of climate change. Well done Guv and thank-you.

TexMex,  December 8, 2009 9:07 PM

Did those goobers at the UN really claim that this coming decade is on track to be the warmest evah? Really? Just as a huge snowstorm is blanketing the US and the temps are headed way south? They're doing it wrong....

Whitney,  December 8, 2009 9:10 PM

It's called reverse research. You draw your conclusion then you make up or twist the science to match your conclusion. It's the same research method that the LSM uses. I think that Sarah may have wanted to say it was a** backwards, but a WAPO op-ed wasn't the place.

Ohh...I just read it...did she write this????  If we had trolls here they would be going crazy saying she didn't write this.  That's are girl...luv this woman.

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  December 8, 2009 9:38 PM

wow, great great article from Madam '45

I will admit just a few years I was one of those people who did believe in global warming, got into HUGE arguments with my co-workers.  I admited to them today at work that I was wrong.

I want alternative energy for our America so that we are NOT dependent on other countries for energy, but since that will take a while to ramp up we need to use the energy that our country already owns on our own land.

this crap has nothing to do about helping America, it will not make more people lose jobs and businesses

FLREPUB,  December 8, 2009 9:39 PM

Funny you say that---many, many comments after the article state exactly that!!! LOL!!

gelston the knowitall,  December 8, 2009 9:39 PM

Did anyone who posts here write to The Worcester (MA) Telegram today as "Go, Sarah, Go"? I am just curious who you are because you put in a plug for C4P.

I bet if Sarah wrote "Blaa blaa blaa blaa go lakers blaa blaa blaa" they would claim she did not write that either. THey dont even bother reading what she said, they just go and say the typical BS of how she did not write it. The libs know their dear leader is a one term failure..they saw those poll numbers from today, they are scared tod eath, Sarah is within ONE point of him, my personal belief is that she is ahead of him..and she hasnt even campaigned, not at all..she is on a book tour and already up in the polls by 7+ points, imagine if she were running for president, they know it, and that is why they are scared, she can beat him and they know it!

CruelaDev, Are you serious you saw Michelle Malkin in line behind you?

NY59Giants,  December 8, 2009 10:13 PM

That was some "interesting" reading in the comments section of the WaPo. Mainly the usual character attacks rather than go after what she said. There was one writer that asked about what are we going to do to stop volcanic activity. What are we going to do are solar flares??  I didn't see anyone ask the others to give up beef as they produce so much "greenhouse gas." Nobody mentioned how we are going to meet the increased demand for energy over the next decade or so with these "green" methods - solar, wind, thermal, etc.. They are not sufficiently developed to even make significant gains in the current energy grid. The big push for all these hybrid cars does not even get into the simple fact that it uses more energy to produce them as they have less than 100k shelf life.

I could go on about some of the lack of knowledge that some have on this subject, but sarah did the smart thing and ask why science and politics are not seperate.

toughluck,  December 8, 2009 10:16 PM

The problem is that Sarah can only point out Obama's political moves.. but can't do anything about it. Its frustrating. What is really bad that we will have to wait three years to fire the head of the EPA, reverse the EPA idiotic stance of CO2, back out of any treaty Obama might sign, and start dismantling legislation.

Three years! a lot of bad can happen till then :(
Lets retake the House and Senate in 2010!

Ceejay,  December 8, 2009 10:18 PM

Another 'smackdown" by Sarah, does this woman rest?

Go get 'em, telling them the truth, we are tired of the snake oil!

Sarah 2012!

Whitney,  December 8, 2009 10:18 PM

How many Dem. Senators will it take to respond to this op-ed?

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 10:27 PM

Let's hope President Obama does as well sealing this deal, as he did when he went over to Copenhagen to seal the deal for the Olympics in Chicago.

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 10:29 PM

Cruela,
We are home safe and sound!:)
We are wiped after trying to pull you off Todd!:)

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:31 PM

Dang it.. I said that we were NOT going to kiss and tell...Now you have done it!
Glad you made it home safe...Thanks for all you did today!  I appreciate it more than you will ever know!

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:32 PM

Yuppers...

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:33 PM

She lives in Colorado Springs...I knew I would see her sooner or later!

Whitney,  December 8, 2009 10:35 PM

Nancy and Cruela,
Will one of you share your experience today? Some of us have to live vicariously through you. I opted not to make the 5-6 hour drive to either Noblesville, IN or Springfield, MO to see the Gov like perhaps I should have. So, spill it ,ladies!

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 10:36 PM

Cruela,
That was a whole lot of fun!:) It was great to meet you! It felt like we were old friends, picking up a conversation we were having yesterday!
I don't think we messed up Governor Palin's good impression of C4P!?:) Do you?

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:36 PM

Should we tell them?...Nancy.. should we?  Bestbud?  Firelight?

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 10:40 PM

Well, we 4 stood in front of Governor Palin, and we did our barbershop quartet number that we had beeen working on in line.
I don't recall what happened after that. Something about being escorted out.
BUT, we made sure everyone knew we were from C4P!

Mia,  December 8, 2009 10:42 PM

Cruela SANG????????????...YIKES!!!!!!

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:50 PM

Okay Whit.. I am breaking a pack here...Nancy may come after me...But .. Speaking for myself ..I had a ball!  The lines were fun!.. Because Nancy and Bestbud had C4P buttons and hats on...we had several people come join us noting this website.  It's funny/scary when folks know you as "Nancy".. or "Bestbud".. or My Avatar..LOL!  Michelle Malkin was there with her kids.. the Crowd was having fun! We were inside and it was warm...

It was great meeting Nancy and kids, Firelight/Hubby and kids, as well as Bestbud.  It was like we knew eachother all along!  (not sure how they felt about meeting me...I probably scared the hell out of them)...  anyway...we met some very cool people in line...We met with Sarah and Todd.. told them we were the "troublemakers" at C4P.. she got a kick out of that and thanked us...then we spent some time with her parents...
OMG.. talk about special people...they were wonderful!  Dad accused Bestbud of stalking him...Bestbud.. I will let you explain!
I went downstairs ahead of the group..and Aunt Katie and I met up.. She commented that she wanted to meet me because I looked like a good friend of hers in WA...I apologized..she laughed and said..No really you do and she is one of my best friends..I again apologized...she then said she loved my "sarcastic humor"...NOT sure what she ment by that...I will let you all draw your own conclusions.   Then we talked about Colorado Springs and such...she also signed the book...and I was an all around very Special Day!  Nancy, Bestbud...I thank you so much for all you did!  Firelight it was fun!
God Bless you all.. and Thanks C4P...it would have never happened without YOU!

Kjanlady,  December 8, 2009 10:51 PM

Interesting link to Sarah's Copenhagen op-ed piece from the Weekly Standard Blog.

"The People's Governor has a strong op-ed in the Washington Post calling for Obama to boycott Copenhagen complete with link to You-Tube of Obama promising to make your energy prices skyrocket."

They never mention Sarah's name.  The People's Governor.......I like that.......at least until we can change it to.........The People's President.

Oblamo.....sucks to be you.

LT,  December 8, 2009 10:52 PM

THANK GOD! Never have I wanted Sarah to step up on an issue like I wanted her to step up on this one. First FB, now this. Up until just recently, the MSM has been ignoring this while the blogs and radio hosts raised cain about it. This issue has to be engrained in public collective concious, and the only way to bridge the gap and force it into the conventional news was if Sarah herself stepped up, and boy did she. The MSM wasn't giving climategate the attention it needed, but the MSM is incapable of ignoring Sarah.  WIN!

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:52 PM

Big fat LIE!

johnfromcanada,  December 8, 2009 10:55 PM

Thank God for Sarah. She is spot-on with this one. Previously she had called this junk science and she's right. I am really angry that the MSM has for the most part ignored "Climategate." I think it is the most important story of the year -  a major scandal with enormous financial implications.  Humans are so full of pride that we think WE ALONE are causing temps to rise and WE ALONE can reverse the rise. What we'll probabaly do with all this climate change nonsense is plunge the world toward another ice age which will be far worse than anything a 2-3 degree rise in temp could do.

I live near Buffalo N.Y. On a Buffalo TV station the other day, the weather announcer said, "We only got half an inch of snow last night, far less than the computer models predicted."  So let's see - computer models can't predict how much snowfall will happen in the next 24 hours, yet computer models are supposed to accurately predict  what the global temps are going to be in 10, 20, 50, 100 years?

One other point that Sarah grasps - the costs of climate change legistlation will squarely fall on the average citizen through higher taxes, lower economic growth and more employment uncertainty, the same average citizen who is made to feel guilty for driving an SUV or keeping their home at 68' in the winter, while the hypocritical Al Gore/tenured/global warning alarmists  jet-set around the world to their favorite warm weather winter destinations.

Beehive,  December 8, 2009 10:55 PM

So it doesn't sound like too much damage was done!  hahaha

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 10:56 PM

It was awesome to meet Bestbud, Firelight and Cruela!
We did all go up as a group. Bestbud went first and we stood in front of her and Todd, and Bestbud said we were all from C4P. I'm sure they will all tell you their experiences meeting her.
I'll tell you how it went for me. First of all, I told my girls that Governor Palin will look you in the eye, and she will speak directly to you, and she will talk to you. They both had Santa hats on, and my oldest also had reindeer antlers on. So, I told them, she will probably mention their hats, and ask their names and ages. My daughters were ahead of me. And just like that, Governor Palin, looked at my oldest daughter, shook her hand and said, well, your bold! Asked her age and name.
My younger daughter was next and Governor Palin stopped signing, shook her hand, asked her, her name and age. My daughter said I just turned ten yesterday. And right away, Governor Palin stopped signing, put her elbows on the table, clasped her hands, and said, well happy birthday! What grade are you in? My daughter said 4th, and I think Governor Palin said, thank you for coming!

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 10:57 PM

I'm NOT admitting to a thing!

Whitney,  December 8, 2009 10:58 PM

Thanks so much for sharing, Cruela! It sounds like you all had a great time! :) I'm so happy for you all getting to meet the Governor, her family, each other, and Nancy's kids! That's very exciting!

CharterOakie,  December 8, 2009 11:01 PM

I'm expecting at least one photo from one of you, Cruela, Nancy or Bestbud!  Now don't disappoint us!

Beehive,  December 8, 2009 11:08 PM

Uh oh Mia. Behaving and Mia just don't go together. ;

Mia,  December 8, 2009 11:12 PM

huh????...ME???...I am angelic...Ask anyone!

TexMex,  December 8, 2009 11:13 PM

Basically, they want us to go back to the Stone Age. Haha, kidding. It's more like pre-industrial revolution era. Yeah, low life expectancy, poor health, no heat or A/C. No. I don't think so. Find another way boys and girls.

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 11:18 PM

Oh Dear Lord.. I just spit on my Screen!

Mia,  December 8, 2009 11:19 PM

Just think Nancy...Your girls met the first Woman to be voted... President of the United States!

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 11:21 PM

So then it was my turn.
Okay, now when I am standing in line a few feet away from the book signing table, I see Todd, I see Governor Palin and I see Jason Rechter?, but when you get to the table, I don't see anyone but Governor Palin! I am so intent on telling her what I want to say, I am just tell her, tell her, tell her.
I said, God bless you Governor Palin. We love your sarcasm at C4P, keept it up. There is a young girl (sorry Emily, I should have said young lady!) at C4P, named Emily, that says hi, and she loves you, and is going to run for office someday because of you!
Governor Palin said, oh, that is so nice to hear! Thank you!
And with that, I totally ignored Todd and with my heart going a mile a minute walked over to everyone else talking to Mr. and Mrs. Heath!
I think I may have shook Todd's hand, but I was talking the whole time to her! And on the way home, I was going over it in my mind, and I honestly can't think if I actually shook his hand or not.

Did I mention at the beginning of this comment, that it is a given that you must read this post with the foreknowledge that I am in fact, an idiot? Seriously, who bypasses Todd? ME! That is who!
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! (hitting myself repeatedly in the head!)

They were very excited to meet her, my 10 year old is going to read her book. They want to share one of the autographed books!

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 11:30 PM

Nancy,  December 8, 2009 11:31 PM

techno,  December 8, 2009 11:40 PM

What Soros, Obama, academia, the liberal elites, the entertainment industry and the Far Left is engaged in currently is a product of 40 years of undying commitment to one primary goal, the socialist takeover of America. They had everything planned in terms of policy strategy and policy implementation, they managed to gain control of the broadcast and print media over time to utilize Goebbels-like disinformation and propaganda, their 'progressive' ideas dominated the classroom and the college campus, they managed to convince enough white Americans that America was an evil empire and had to atone for its sins, despite the Reagan two-term presidency and the elimination of Communism in Russia and the eastern bloc countries they continued to make plans for political conquest and eventually took over the Democratic party, they handpicked a charismatic candidate who would yield enough 'white guilt' votes to get elected, while getting a Soros-backed weak GOP RINO candidate (McCain) nominated who posed little opposition to the One. Everything was in place, the revolution was moving forward, RINO's and big government ideas dominated the GOP with Reagan conservatism being comatose, the CRA allowed community organizing to reach an art form and for solid business and banking principles to be abandoned eventually causing the financial meltdown a la the Cloward-Piven strategy, and Obama already has a ready-made list of long-time Marxists ready to assume the role of government czars to regulate the entire economy and the American way of life, and of course they had ACORN to fix all forthcoming elections and perhaps the Far Left could find a way to get around the 22nd Amendment to make Obama POTUS for life. And this was all done sub rosa and with the utmost subterfuge and treachery.

With the election of Obama every Socialist wet dream was given a green light: nationalized healthcare, cap and trade, czarist control of industry and commerce, establishment of the nanny state, bankrupting the treasury to destroy the American economy, appointing judges who would vote against the Constitution, and rapidly transforming America from a land of freedom and initiative to a land of restraint and suppression. On Jan 20, 2009 everything was in place-the Dems controlled the WH, and the House and Senate with massive majorities. All Americans would now bow down to Obama and call him the Messiah and willingly give up their God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Over 40 years they had gone over every contingency in their minds. The conservative opposition had been destroyed to be replaced by RINO's but unfortunately there was one loose end: Sarah Palin.

John McCain, the handpicked candidate of Soros had 'gone maverick' without consulting Soros and chose a virtual unknown for his running mate. The Dems had expected either Pawlenty. Romney or maybe Lieberman or Ridge, buddies of McCain. Right from the get-go as Peggy Noonan suggested, the Dems knew this woman would be trouble. They knew they had to throw everything but the kitchen sink at her and virtually ignore McCain, which they did. But even after that Obama only won by 7.2% and that margin could be argued was entirely attributable to the financial meltdown and not to anything they did to Palin.

Then after the election in the first six months of the year the Dems picked up where they left off and continued their assault against Sarah Palin to destroy her politically and financially as well. They knew if they could diminish her credibility by Nov 2010 (the Dems had already rightly assumed that Sarah would not run for re-election but also assumed she would serve out her full term despite the incessant attacks) Sarah would pose no problem against [...]

Mr. and Mrs. Heath were incredibly down to earth. It was like talking to my own parents. Kind, interested in my girls, thanking us for coming out.
I told Mr. Heath we were praying for their safety and strength for the rest of their trip. He was walking away, grabbed my upper arm, and sqeezed and patted it, saying thank you to me.
Mrs. Heath held both hands of my older daighter's hands for a long time, just talking to all three of us, and patted her hand repeatedly after that. I told her we are praying for her daughter, and she said, something about praying about what path Sarah should take. I said, whatever path she takes, we will support her.
Wonderful, kind people.

manajordan,  December 9, 2009 12:05 AM

Nancy, Cruela, Bestbud and Firelight,

Thanks so much for letting us share in your experience today. It has been absolutely delightful to follow. Congrats on meeting the Palin family. You are all fantastic.

CruelaDev,  December 9, 2009 12:06 AM

Mr. & Mrs. Heath.. REALLY????.. I just said "Hi Mom and Dad...Nice to meet you"...I then got a hug and a laugh.  It was a nice chat!

Nancy,  December 9, 2009 12:09 AM

Did they know you just made out with their son-in-law? That might have changed the conversation! Don't ya think?
I guess they didn't see you behind the bookshelf!

Another tribute to Sarah from a liberal journalist (Clarance Page of the Chicago Tribune) after meeting her at the Gridiron Club dinner. To be published in the Tribune tomorrow morning. She is doing great.

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 12:26 AM

Did you see Sarah's tweet about meeting Michelle and her kids?

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 12:28 AM

All I would like to say is that we are home safely and the kids are tucked away asleep, of course one of them now has a BIG head or should I say big lips :)

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 12:28 AM

I want to double like this post!!

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 12:51 AM

Ok, so I am late to the party but my babies are in bed now.  Here is my experience tonight.

I high tail it out of Denver late this afternoon hoping to meet Nancy, Cruela and Bestbud and maybe glimpse Sarah.  I had hubby and my 2 kids with me.  Just as I was buying 2 books Nancy called me!!!  Borders was out of wrist bands but Nancy had one for me!!  All I had to do was locate the two Santa hats, lol!

I had fun in line meeting everyone.  My daughter got to meet Nancy's daughters.  Nancy is so very, very nice and has good taste in real estate.  Cruela really does have a wickedly great sense of humor!! Bestbud rocks and is so darn cute!  I was of course my normal clueless self.  It was fun to watch closely Sarah, Todd, Jason and her family from afar while we waited.  I had everything I wanted to say in my head and......... I just said hi, my name (cause she asked) and shook her hand, LOL.  She did talk to my 5 year old daughter, she asked her name, how old she was, was she in Kindergarten and then told my daughter she had the most perfect lips.  She does look you straight in the eyes.  I think we all mentioned the website.  I then said Hi to Todd and smiled but forgot to shake his hand (Why God??).  Maybe because he was occupied with Cruela :)  I got to meet her dad and mom and Aunt Katie.  They are all so very nice and each one spoke to my daughter.  She had a blast!!  I have to thank my dear hubby for sneaking out of work early to get me there and then watching our 2 yr old son while we waited.

Guys, C4P has such amazing people on here.  We are a good group.  I hope we all get to meet someday.

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 1:01 AM

I just saw that.  Where did she meet Trig???  He wasn't around when we were there and she was behind us in line.

Indemind,  December 9, 2009 1:02 AM

Mia ...are you thinking what I'm thinking, i.e. RINO post?

sarah 2012

Nancy,  December 9, 2009 1:04 AM

Firelight,
It was so great to meet you! Life is funny!:) Ya know?
Your husband was awesome to be happy and excited for you to get to meet Governor Palin. A very nice guy.
It was funny that we commented on your daughter's eyes and Governor Palin commented on her lips! She is a cutie, and your little man, too!

It was so nice to look at each other at the end and just shake our heads, sayinf to each other: what in the world just happened?:)

defendAmerica,  December 9, 2009 1:04 AM

I must get some sleep.

Off work til next Monday!!!   Finishing the kitchen renovation this week... so i can see this house!!
So ya'll be stuck with me more than usual in the next couple days ;)

defendAmerica,  December 9, 2009 1:05 AM

see=sell... must sleep...

RINO-Hunter,  December 9, 2009 1:08 AM

Why, what are you guys thinking?  I just posted the op-ed in a comment.  I'm not Ace.

Firelight,  December 9, 2009 1:13 AM

Nancy,
So true!!  It was all a blur and so fast, lol. It was so worth it and to meet you and Cruela and Bestbud was great.  I saw on the news how they said "only hundreds" I wanted to throw something at the TV!!  They gave out every single wristband (1000) and there was still a huge line for the "hopefuls" to get their books signed.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:15 AM

I think the article is suppose to be posted the day before Obama headed over to Copenhagen when she posted that FB message.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:21 AM

So he kissed you on the cheek? Haha. How cute.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:23 AM

I know, but at least the media folks and DC folks and political folks can see how her moves would differ from Obama. So far he's making all the wrong moves and all of her would-be moves are dead on and mavericky, like the boycotting of the climate change conference.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:23 AM

Me too. That's why I didn't go to the Reno event, but then yesterday I read they have a heated tent. Darn.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:25 AM

Well, so far I'll take The People's Governor. I love that title. :) She will definitely be the People's President, just like Princess Di was the People's Princess.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:27 AM

The media is pretty quiet on this one. Normally you'd see them headline "Palin Tells Obama to Boycott Copenghagen" on Yahoo frongtpage but I saw none of that when her FB post was out. They know it would make her look good, so they just stay quiet.

onexsturtle,  December 9, 2009 1:35 AM

Thanks!

It is startling, but really clear. Refreshing.

Sapwolf,  December 9, 2009 9:17 AM

I have an ex-coworker in Alabama.  She voted for Obama because of race.  I told her she is a racist, which she is.  To not vote for someone because of race is just as racist as voting for somone due to their race.  I told her to think long and hard about what she did.  I told her NEVER NEVER judge people by their race, ethnicity, gender, color, etc.

Sapwolf,  December 9, 2009 9:18 AM

I wish Sarah could do a Sunday interview with Chris Wallace on the Climategate issue, along with prospects for the GOP in 2010.

bpk1300,  December 9, 2009 9:46 AM

I love a church in Tulsa called the Family Prayer Center.  There is a website that posts their sermons etc.  Unfortuneately, the owner of that site (not the prayer center site) is involved with a woman who voted for Obama because of race.  Logical discussions about Obama's policies got me removed from the website that supports the sermons and from the facebook site as well.  I asked that they look at the Obama policies and I was called a racist!!

bpk1300,  December 9, 2009 9:52 AM

Hi Sapwolf:  I watched Chris Wallace last Sunday with the two senators talking about Deathcare.  I wanted to toss something at the TV.  He allowed the democratic to skate and did not get him to explain.....

BTW, Laura Ingraham is organizing Code Red for Dec 15 in Washington DC.

In Georgia the summer was cooler than normal. We have a boat and the weather was usually overcast, raining or windy. Temps are uaually in the mid-high 90s. This year it was low 90-80s even high 70s. Yucky boat season this year. I gues we have some snow this winter also. We have had decent snow the last two years. Its called weather one year we have a drought now the lakes shores are under water. It goes in cycles.

I finally got to read your accounts of yesterday's book signing, Nancy, Firelight and Cruela. Thank you very much for taking the time to share it with the rest of us. Sounds like it was a memorable experience for all of you and I'm so thankful you got to share it together. Now, Bestbud, we're waiting for your account! :) (unless I missed it?)

juju,  December 9, 2009 11:02 AM

If you watch Morning Joe, don't you wonder why he was not there when they discussed Sarah's op-ed???  Coward I think is the word we could use.

riley4palin,  December 9, 2009 11:06 AM

After reading Governor Palin's Op-Ed, I hope Air Force One carries an extra EKG monitor for Robert Gibbs today when they leave for Copenhagen.

As a matter of fact, it must really, really sting Obama that it came from the Washington Post.

DoingTheDeal,  December 9, 2009 11:08 AM

I notice that the left wing wackos are getting very upset with the Washington Post for allowing Sarah Palin the space to write an op-ed on the hoax of making humans the cause of glgobal warming by saying we generate carbon which they have tried to blame as the cause of all the climate change we are seeing....
it is a lie and we all know it is a lie
but, I guess the wacko left is all of the same mind set... they are scared of dissent. They don't like it if you don't agree with their propaganda, so then they try to silence you.
Now they are mad at the Washingto Post.
What a bunch of crybabies.

And guess what, that sounds very similar to what they did with all the scientests who didn't agree with them.... silence them, denegrate them, refuse to allow them a voice.

Boy, these socialist sure have a narrow brain width.

I can't help but be suspecious though, what are they up to?

Dan C,  December 9, 2009 6:18 PM

The response to my op-ed by global warming alarmists has been interesting. Former Vice President Al Gore has called me a “denier” and informs us that climate change is “a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.”

Perhaps he’s right. Climate change is like gravity – a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.

However, he’s wrong in calling me a “denier.” As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied the existence of climate change. I just don’t think we can primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes.

Former Vice President Gore also claimed today that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years, and therefore it is settled science. Well, the Climategate scandal involves the leading experts in this field, and if Climategate is proof of the larger method used over the past 20 years, then Vice President Gore seriously needs to consider that their findings are flawed, falsified, or inconclusive.

Vice President Gore, the Climategate scandal exists. You might even say that it’s sort of like gravity: you simply can’t deny it.

- Sarah Palin
