Sarah Palin: Media's Priorities Shine Bright, Again!

Via Facebook:

It’s really comical at this point! Despite all of the important events happening in the world today – the president’s speech tonight on the strategy in Afghanistan, the Senate debate over health care reform, the disturbing details of the “Climategate” scandal, the continuing challenges facing the world economy – the media is concerned about my travel and lodging arrangements on my book tour?! Does this sound familiar? It should. The media showed the same out-of-proportion obsession with my personal arrangements, clothes, and hairstyles last year instead of focusing on the crucial issues involving the election.

So what is this news “story”? That I fly on an airplane to complete some of the stops on my book tour when it’s impractical or physically impossible to reach the next event on time by bus. Some news outlets are behaving as if my travel was a secret that they didn’t know about – despite the fact that I’ve tweeted about my flights and at least one local newspaper reported on the arrival of my flight into Rochester, NY. What’s even funnier is that these same media outlets think it’s shocking that we stay in hotels. I guess they expected us to pitch a tent alongside the road. We love the great outdoors, but such an arrangement is hardly practical for a book tour. Using common sense, it was determined that traveling by plane between some stops would save time and energy and allow me to go to more events. Economically speaking for HarperCollins, it’s more efficient to travel by charter, and I am very grateful to the publisher for providing my family and me with this incredible opportunity to shake hands with as many Americans as possible on this book tour.

If you’re scratching your head wondering why my flight and hotel logistics warrant news coverage, join the club. They can, of course, report on whatever they like, but in my opinion CBS loses whatever professional integrity it still has when it links in its report to a website devoted to the bizarre conspiracy theory that I’m not the real mother of my son Trig.

I’m truly humbled by the response to my book tour by everyday Americans, and if traveling by plane means that I can meet more of these wonderful people, I’ll travel by plane (or bus or train or canoe or dog sled or whatever it takes). Please enjoy the photos below!

Sarah you keep doing what you are doing!!! MSM and all the left are shakin' in their boots. PALIN 2012!!!!!

Rogue2012, December 1, 2009 5:57 PM

FYI - I have not watched or logged on to anything to do with CBS in years. I would say I turned off CBS when Dan Rather lied about Pres. Bush.

tim c, December 1, 2009 6:01 PM

Thank you Governor!

TexMex, December 1, 2009 6:03 PM

Rapid response team: Palin Facebook and C4P! Outstanding! Ya taking notes, Nat'l GOP?

manajordan, December 1, 2009 6:04 PM

I love her sense of humor about this stuff. I would particularly enjoy seeing her ride in on a canoe on Coeur d 'Alene lake for the signing here.

riley4palin, December 1, 2009 6:04 PM

When the Governor is done with the LSM (it may take a few more months), they all will be sitting in the corner with Olbermann and Matthews playing jacks and sucking on their thumbs.

Beehive, December 1, 2009 6:05 PM

Whoa there nellie!! I think the lamestream media better check their backs for tire marks. ( or canoe marks or train marks or dogsled marks) I think the Guv just mowed them down.
Niice one Guv. Good job. Hold their feet to the fire.

This lady will not be denied. Whatever it takes to meet the people and shake their hands. Unbelievable. Just get out of her way. She'll do it.

I was checking out all those photos of the book tour. Has anyone else noticed that in all the pictures of the lines and crowds, everyone is smiling. That's awesome. The Guv brings out the best in everyone.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:07 PM

I have noticed that, but have also noticed that she brings out the worst in leftists? I think that is what God put her on this earth to do, expose liberals for who they really are

terri, December 1, 2009 6:08 PM

When is the LSM EVER going to realize that the more you bash her the more we love her. :-)

hrh, December 1, 2009 6:08 PM

Whoa, what a day.

Dan Fagan at the Alaska Standard said Palin was right to quit - and she may save our country! ? !

But get a load of the comments ...

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 6:10 PM

Thank you Governor, for everything you have done for this country, for all the sacrifices you have made son. Your own son does his part to defend our freedoms, and his concern and well-being is something that weighs heavy on your heart. Your sacrifice as a mother will not be forgotten. You raise a special needs child in spite of what the world around would have done. They would have let it die before it was even born. All of use who love life thank you for that. You truly are an inspriration to every American.

NEWS ALERT!!!! NEWS ALERT!!!!!

SARAH PALIN CAUGHT ON TAPE!!!
SHE BLEW HER NOSE 5 MINUTES AGO!!!
FILM AT 11:00!

Brian72, December 1, 2009 6:14 PM

These propagandists keep on doing this, they are only helping Sarah along with all of the people she is trying to reach. Just remember folks, every time they belittle this woman, they are belitting YOU. How they treat Sarah is how they would treat YOU if they were ever so unfortunate enough to get stuck in the same place as you for five minutes.
When they got back to the Martha Stewart cocktail party on the Upper West Side, you would make a great story for all their stuck up social climber friends over fois gras and bree or whatever crap they eat at those things.
These idiots are in for a rude awakening starting in 2010 when Queen Plastic Nancy I gets de-throned with extreme prejudice, then it's King Barack Big Ears next in 2012.

Fear us, we are coming for you liberals!

lmg, December 1, 2009 6:15 PM

But it's sad we have such a divided society. One half literally cannot comprehend the thinking of the other half. And such irrational, visceral hatred coming from the left half.

yogi41, December 1, 2009 6:18 PM

Funny post, but really, Sarah doesn't need to explain her travel arrangements to anyone: most of us "get it". As for the media, let them continue to slide into irrevelancy.

Brian72, December 1, 2009 6:18 PM

There is some sneaky backhanded purpose to this from Fagan. Don't trust him one bit.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:21 PM

OT what is the name of Sarah Palin's offical channel on youtube? I would like to subscribe

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 6:23 PM

Since when is populist a synonym for poverty? They are not related. To be a populist means you believe in the wisdom of the people; it doesn't have anything to do with money. That's what I wish Sarah or somebody would point out. Poor and populist are not synonyms.

Money Maven, December 1, 2009 6:28 PM

THe liberals over at Amazon discussion forum also started a thread on this Bus Tour hoopla. I knew she said it was a road trip book tour.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:29 PM

she doesn't have to explain it to us but being the good point guard that she is, she knows she has to control the tempo of the game herself, she cannot let the LSM control it because if they do she loses the game

yogi41, December 1, 2009 6:40 PM

Which pic? I see a PDS one, a really nice Reagan-Palin torch one, and a CBS pic.

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 6:40 PM

Scandal! Stop the presses!

lmg, December 1, 2009 6:40 PM

The LSM was hissing, "She's not like you at all, dearie. She flies on a private jet just like those Hollywood stars!" Sarah explained the situation in a common sense way, noted that it meant she could get to more events that way, that the publisher was paying for it - and she thanked them - and whacked the LSM at the same time. It was masterfully done.

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 6:41 PM

Defintion of populist from Merriam-Webster (no mention of material value, poverty, etc.)

a believer in the rights, wisdom, or virtues of the common people

ellen, December 1, 2009 6:41 PM

This is a classic Palin smack down! I love it!

We can probably expect some more straight talk later tonight in response to Obama's Afghanistan speech.

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 6:42 PM

I've always thought of them more as cockroaches to be squished... but that's just me.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:43 PM

I once was able to comprehend the thinking of the left... when I was 5, seriously liberals are ppl who never really grew up and don't accept the imperfection in the world and think that only they can make the world perfect, beware of ppl who think they can create heaven on earth, it only leads to many innocent ppl getting slaughtered for simply "being in the way"

lmg, December 1, 2009 6:44 PM

If it wasn't a recycled tissue I'm voting for Obama.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:46 PM

I was referring to the PDS one but the Reagan-Palin torch one is nice

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 6:48 PM

yeah they don't seem to be to upset about Nancy Pelosi's taxpayer-funded jet

Nancy, December 1, 2009 6:49 PM

Governor Palin vs. Lamestream Media:

First she exposes your bias.
Then, she calls you on it.
Then, she orchestrates your slow march to death.
Then she uses you for comedic bits on Facebook.
Finally, she is President Palin.

She used you every step of the way.

Allie, December 1, 2009 6:53 PM

I seem to recall that before she started the book tour that someone wrote that she would be travelling by bus, BUT ALSO BY PLANE. If I would have have known that the plane part would have brought about so much hoopla, I would have written where I read it. The thing is that they have copied the flight plans of the airline and (as explained by Harper Collins) the plane would fly and meet the bus in some places, not necessarily with Sarah on board, so what is the big deal. The LSM is just upset that she is getting so many people out to sign her book, something that is probably unprecedented so they have to nit pick at anything that would make it a negative tour.

Indemind, December 1, 2009 6:54 PM

Turn on the Light and watch the Cockaroaches Scatter, and Sarah is the LIGHT.

sarah 2012

Lakerfanalways, December 1, 2009 6:56 PM

This "story" just proves what empty heads the media has. We all already know journalism is officially dead, but when some consider this a story, then you know they have empty heads. I guess nothing bad is going on in the world, everything is all good, Sarah flies a plane, WOW, I'll get the noose, you all find the biggest tree and we will have a public hangin. Sarah also stays in a hotel..NOOOOOOOOOOO where did people expect her and her children to sleep..in a dark alley surrounded by hobos(no offense to hobos) absolutely ridiculous! What she does with her OWN money is her OWN business. The media just hates the fact that she is making money and laughing all the way to the bank..and the White House

AnnO, December 1, 2009 6:57 PM

It's truly amazing how the lame-stream media is getting more lame everyday!!! Then they wonder why their viewership is deminishing?? I wish we all could on a united front boycot all the sponsors of the lame-stream media as well boycotting hollywood movies - get them where it counts - in their pocketbook. I'm sick of hear what these numbnuts have to say - who gives a rats butt what they think or really do. The only good actors are the conservative common sense ones such as John Voight, Patricia Heaton, Kelsey Grammer, Chuck Norris.
Sorry for rambling ... but anyway, the liberal left are totally out of it. Everything is crumbling before them - can we say "CLIMATE HOAX???"
I love Gov Palin and her family and will support her 100+% ... it really doesn't matter what she does. She's aGod loving, hard working, honest patriot who will do anything to keep this country FREE!!!
GO SARAH 2012 - Know that you are LOVED!!!!

lmg, December 1, 2009 7:01 PM

That's because Nancy will give them a ride. Sarah would give them a ride, too, but only 1/2 way.

Nancy, December 1, 2009 7:01 PM

bus-President Obama only drives the bus, that runs over the man, that is the Communist, that was appointed by Obama, that was exposed by Beck, that "resigned" one night.
train-Joe Biden is an Amtrak freak!
canoe-Andrea Mitchell might have learned something fishing with the Palins, you never know.
sled dog-Ashley Judd?

Only Governor Palin would actually be able to travel by those 4 modes of transportation.

Mia, December 1, 2009 7:02 PM

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 7:02 PM

Whitney, December 1, 2009 7:10 PM

She was supposed to take a helicopter so that she could do some aerial wolf hunting in between tour stops, or Todd was supposed to transport her via snowmachine.

She is also supposed to put the chartered jet on ebay after the tour.

The lamestream media seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Governor Palin.

The irrelevancy of this woman will be their undoing.

lmg, December 1, 2009 7:21 PM

Sarah isn't a pilot, though. I think Greta asked her about the little float plane they have, and she said she hated riding in it, it was like flying in a tuna can.

I like what Joshua Livestro wrote in his response to the Joe McGinniss article:

"Doesn't matter if she flies a private jet, or even Air Force One: to your average, hard working American, she'll always just be Sarah from Alaska. And that's the way it is, Joe."

...and all the Ordinary Barbarians said "Amen".

militantfeather, December 1, 2009 7:59 PM

Sarah's booktour has been just an absolute disaster.

Scandal plagued. Scandal, I tell ya, scandal. A compendium:

Ghostgate - the book was ghost written, with racsist connections to boot
Amazongate - Murdoch/HC are manipulating Amazon pre-order numbers
Lossgate - 1.5million printed means sales about half, HC will lose, SP won't make up advance
APgate - 11 reporters confirm facts are facts, and spin is spin.
Boogate - some people didn't get their books signed
Jetgate - SP took 3 trips by plane on booktour
Racegate - the queues for SP's book signing appear all white acording MSNBC
Pawnedgate - Canadian comic makes fool of SP

But, wait? None are remotely a problem.

And Sarah maintains her clear commitment on key principles, her optimism, her connection with people, drawing crowds everywhere , polls improving, 1 million sales.

Obama dithers, plays lots and lots of golf, whines about news coverage, polls plunging, and is racing off to collect his Xmas present from the Santas in Denmark, his Nobel prize for peace, immediately after he tells everyone he is determined to win a war.

Aww, geez.

The problem is that the fascination with travel arrangements, clothes, personal appearance, personal drama Might be a concious choice for those media outlets, in order to bimbo-nize, demean, and trivialize Sarah Palin as a 'celebrity' and not as a person of substance, and to divert attention to the policy messages she is providing.

This might be an concerted effort. I dont know how to fight it, since by engaging in drama and mudslinging one tends to get all muddy. It seems Sarah is smart enough to realize what is going on and bring it to people's attention.

She might need to do a pure policy book, with no references to herself at all just to shut them all up.

Go Sarah!

Obama White House to host 50,000 visitors at 28 parties in December By Lynn Sweet on December 1, 2009 4:24 PM

WASHINGTON--As Congress and the Secret Service probe how Tareq and Michaele Salahi gained entrance to President Obama's state dinner last week without being on the guest list, I've learned that the Obama White House has 28 holiday parties planned over the few weeks with more than 50,000 people expected.
In the wake of the party crashing incident, I asked Camille Y. Johnston, the communications chief for First Lady Michelle Obama about the heavy upcoming party season, kicking off this week.
"This holiday season more than 50,000 people will visit the White
House's 17 holiday parties and 11 open houses. Social Office staff will
be present to continue to assist guests and the United States Secret

The state dinner involved just 320 guests--plus the Salahis.

How stupid are these people anyway? She said in her FB note when she first announced she was kicking off the book tour that "part of it" would be by bus. That would seem to imply that another "part" would take place via some other mode of transport. These people are seriously reaching now. She ought to just ignore these tools; they are hardly worth the bandwidth.

In other news . . . I'm getting in line tomorrow evening to meet the Guv in Fayetteville! It's supposed to be cold and we might even get some snow: We wanted her to feel at home. ;o)

Allie, December 1, 2009 9:21 PM

I went to the website that is the Trig Truther to check it out and I saw the most unbelievable comment. Someone was mentioning about getting a hold of Trigs's dirty diapers and a can she drank from to perform a DNA test. These people are INSANE! The guy wrote a blog that completely broke down the flights as to which flight she was on because according to him, Harper Collings lied, and it had to have been more than three flights (he came up with I think six or seven), but anyway, WHO CARES? It is not taxpayer money and anyway they are not American citizens anyway but some Europeans (one is a British ex-pat residing in France and the other I don't know but probably something like that) that have no vested interest in what she does. They are not in politics and whatever happens with Gov. Palin (that is another thing that irks them, her being called Gov.) will not affect them in any way.

I did see once an ad for MoveOn.org so that might explain their agenda.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 9:23 PM

I would be surprised if CBS even exists in 2012

juju, December 1, 2009 9:31 PM

They will never shut up...this is a cottage industry for them. By all the responses she gives she makes it known that they "can say what they want but she is going to set the record straight". I really believe most people like that.

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 9:31 PM

She's about to win.

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 9:33 PM

Sounds like a good idea, KentonAK.

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 9:34 PM

Now you are making me laugh...

Puma.for.Life, December 1, 2009 9:35 PM

you guys are hot tonight; this is the funniest thread tonight.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 9:43 PM

damn right

panchita, December 1, 2009 9:43 PM

Ms Liberty: Sarah has taken a page out of the lefts playbook and is employing a rapid response attack. With the24 hour news cycle you need to get ahead of a story before it overtakes you.
We will continue to see this game go on indefinitely.

militantfeather, December 1, 2009 9:47 PM

Good point panchita, you are right about the "rapid response strategy". It is effective.

Sarah has found a superb platform in FB, for this and many other reasons.

panchita, December 1, 2009 9:52 PM

john meecham (newsweak) said todays speech would be the most important of obamas presidency. Dick Cheney called obama weak today and todays speech further validated his contention.

Sarah is in the distant horizon. You can hear the thunder of her arrival and see the lightning. This country needs her desperately. You can see it in the faces of the thousands who have come to see her. Run Sarah Run they plead.

I pray even harder Sarah runs, after hearing obamas speech tonite.

Ceejay, December 1, 2009 9:56 PM

Yes, he is a coward, does not want to win the war, wants to satisfy , which he is not doing 30k is not want McCrystal asked for.

Sarah 2012!

defendAmerica, December 1, 2009 10:00 PM

ok... I have to let this out!!!! bahahahahahahahaha!!

Ok. i feel better.

I read this facebook post on my blackberry at work between patients at work today and had to hold in the laugh.

Only Sarah would have the man parts to go after the LSM like that

And the best part is that the title included a :)

That is so Sarah. Run 'em over with the bus and keep the :) in place the whole time!!!

Sapwolf, December 1, 2009 10:01 PM

Fagan wrote that column while Sarah had her pocketknife at his throat. The Cuda takes no prisoners.

:)

defendAmerica, December 1, 2009 10:02 PM

yeah. we're also closing gitmo down in about a month.

karenfromny, December 1, 2009 10:02 PM

I said it yesterday, who cares how Gov. Palin travels. Did anyone really think she was going to take a bus from Florida to Washington. With all the other stuff going on, people in the media really needs to get a life.

But, I just looked at these pictures on her facebook. There is one picture of Trig walking.

Sapwolf, December 1, 2009 10:06 PM

It's not enough and he knows it. He is trying to make it look like he is gonna do the best we can but of course it will not be enough. He wants out of Afghanistan but not in a way that will hurt his ratings. By 2012, he will be the POTUS who lost the Afghan War.

panchita, December 1, 2009 10:08 PM

brother gore in his crusade against global warming takes airplanes the size of obamas ego all the time, and the lsm is mute.

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 10:09 PM

When you hate someone, irrationality takes over. That is what drives PDS.

PatrickinOH, December 1, 2009 10:10 PM

nah its probably a hunting knife bigger is better

Jesse Cornish, December 1, 2009 10:12 PM

Before Obama decided to get out of bed the war would be over.

section9, December 1, 2009 10:17 PM

Just finished Victor Hansen's book. Barack doesn't have Alcibiades' cunning. And yes, thank God the 300 were led by the likes of Leonidas.

I couldn't bear to watch, btw. Chris was comparing Palin to the Salahis, for crying out loud? What have they done except try to get on Bravo and get around DC?

section9, December 1, 2009 10:31 PM

Alcibiades actually defected to the Spartans. He arrived in 415 with two other Athenian strategos, Nicias and Lamachus, and was almost immediately recalled by the chaotic and often murderous Athenian Assembly. Alcibiades' enemies in the Assembly wanted him tried on the usual trumped up charges that could get a ham sandwich indicted for sedition in those days in Athens. Without Pericles around (he had died years earlier during the Plague), there was no force for stability in Athens, so the Assembly was a chaotic mess (like the U.S. House under Pelosi, for example) and harebrained schemes like the ill-fated Sicilian Campaign were proposed without so much as a by-your-leave.

Alcibiades, knowing he was going to be recalled, tried for treason and put to death by an Assembly Gone Wild, promptly defected to the Spartans and agitated for them to break the Peace of Nicias and go to war against his own state, Athens, in Sicily. Alcibiades was utterly without character and would betray the Christ Child to steal His swaddling clothes if the former thought they would keep him warm.

Obama is much like Alcibiades, but is, in many ways, a piker in comparison.

Lynda, December 1, 2009 11:37 PM

I got to see her in Roswell NM today it was great I have some great pictures..,

onexsturtle, December 1, 2009 11:56 PM

She doesn't have one, but the AdoringPalin channel has most of her videos from TV.

juju, December 1, 2009 11:57 PM

And, she does it herself not through another spokes person. Luv it.

sandrainoregon, December 2, 2009 2:11 AM

Jesse: Give your documentation about any "lie" you have found on that blog. Can you prove anything is a lie?

sandrainoregon, December 2, 2009 2:13 AM

Can you imagine satire? I think the "ad" was actually a link.

kcarpenter, December 2, 2009 3:02 AM

Cool- send over the photos

kcarpenter, December 2, 2009 3:09 AM

I will see her at the Mall of America next Monday. She can ride on Santa's sleigh for all I care, as long as she makes it safe and sound. Run, Rudolph, Run

Jesse Cornish, December 2, 2009 3:22 AM

They are Trig Truthers. The conspiracy they purport is an outright lie. Do you agree with their point of view or not?

eclecticak, December 2, 2009 5:42 AM

Try to ignore Sandra, she is constantly questioning people's comments and demanding quotes, sources and documentation that she could find herself in a few minutes of READING. Sandra, can the silly "Devil's Advocate" act and do a little surfing, googling and research of your own. You wouldn't want us to get the impression that you are lazy, would you?

eclecticak, December 2, 2009 5:47 AM

And snowmobile and 4-wheeler ATV and fishing boat and Todd is a pilot,,,,,

I don't know if she rides motorcycles but I have personal knowledge of at least three times she has posed with Harley-Davidsons.....

eclecticak, December 2, 2009 5:55 AM

Sooooo, Sandra, I take it YOU would find this "satire" amusing if it was YOUR family these deranged sociopaths were obsessing on, insulting, defaming, and stalking?

eclecticak, December 2, 2009 6:03 AM

Remember her background, either a fish filleting knife or a game gutting hook.....

gardunne63, December 2, 2009 9:54 AM

Wow, the statist media still hasn't figured out that Sarah Palin is the anti-George W. Bush.

Bush stood politely by (in that New England To the Manor Born style in which he was raised) while the press dumped piles of manure and lies on his head 24/7.

Our Frontier Feminist will not stand so idly and quietly...

gardunne63, December 2, 2009 9:58 AM

Personally, I wish - just to turn the Left into a suicidal binge - Sarah would ride into one of the book stores on top of a moose.

We're going Frontier in 2012.
