Sarah Palin: Reflection on Pearl Harbor
Via Facebook:
On December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack on the U. S. Naval Station at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in which thousands of Americans lost their lives and our naval fleet was severely damaged. The events of that day, which President Franklin Roosevelt vowed would “live in infamy,” proved for many Americans that aggressors would not simply ignore us if we ignored them. The attack on Pearl Harbor launched America into the Second World War, and our Greatest Generation did not hesitate when asked to sacrifice for their country. American men enlisted in droves, American women went to work in the factories that became our “Arsenal of Democracy,” and many Americans gave what little money they had to buy the war bonds that funded it all. They stormed the beaches at Normandy and fought on little known islands in the Pacific in the name of liberty. They don’t ask for our thanks, but I hope we will continue to give it because the sacrifice that began at Pearl Harbor is one of the many events that have defined the United States of America as “the last best hope of man on earth.”

Great simple, yet powerful message.
The spirit of the greatest generation is what we need to get this country back on the right track, being willing to work and sacrifice not just for our own freedom but for future generations.
A simple reminder of history. Very well written.
Pearl Harbor Day. hmmmmm, I wonder how many kids today even know what that is?.
You don't get the day off of school, your mail still gets delivered and parents still trot off to work.
I know that my kids know exactly what this day is and what it means. Not only are they military history buffs, they must hear their grandpa talk about WWII every time they see him.
Their grandpa would string them from the yardarms if they forgot what day this was...lol
Grandpa was in the navy, on the USS Vincennes. Even after 60 years he talks about it like it was yesterday.
So to this family, 12/07 will always "live in infamy". We think about grandpa and all the other brave men/women who sacrifised during that war.
Thank you Sarah.
A reminder of the strength of the American people in the face of an assault on our freedom. The generations that follow that Greatest Generation have been called upon now to fight for the survival of our country and for the freedom of the next generations. We cannot hesitate, we cannot falter and we cannot fail. We must take our country back and secure our country from enemies...both domestic and foreign. It is our duty and promise for the future generations.
Sarah's Facebook Note....a message from a true leader and with the help of God and the citizens of this country....Our 45th President.
Wait...Wait.. Wait...
I heard that we attacked Japan on Dec. 7th 1941. Didn't we kill 80,000 innocent people on this Day...
so that is why Japan attack us on the same day?...Well heck they had every right to come over here and bomb Pearl Harbor...We had no business attacking them first!

P.S.. I made it home....it was fun!
"American men enlisted in droves, American women went to work in the factories that became our “Arsenal of Democracy,” and many Americans gave what little money they had to buy the war bonds that funded it all."
Spot on, Sarah.
A few years ago, I did my BA Senior Thesis for the class, "WWII on the Home Front." My parents were of the "Greatest Generation" and so I got to interview several people who went through it. Unfortunately, since then, I lost the recordings due to a computer failure. They had really great stories.
It's also a call to arms. The story of the United States is in part the story of an unending sacrifice for freedom as she states. Our willingness to sacrifice is what's kept us free.
I don't want to be depressing, but imo both cap and tax and health care are going to go through or be pushed upon us. It's going to take a remarkable leader to undo/dismantle them. There's only one person who's got the guts and the leadership qualities to do it and she wears a green hat (now available at amazon.com, QVC, etc.).
Wow she's inspiring. How can anyone not want her to lead this great country?
Sarah True Heart... Sarah wears her heart on her sleeve for all the world to see.
Just like Reagan did. Two of a kind.

Today, one of my 88 year old patients spent about 5 or 10 minutes telling me about what he did in WWII.
I have known Rex for 25 years and never thought to ask him about his experience.
I was more to tears by the gentle man before me and the three years he spent in Europe ending up in the 3rd Army supporting Patton.
What an honor to look him in the eye and thank him.
God bless them all.

I was moved to tears by the gentle man before me and the three years he spent in Europe ending up in the 3rd Army supporting Patton. His summation was "I saw it all".
What an honor to look him in the eye and thank him.

Way to go Gelston. Well said. Ditto.
Wow do you know how lucky you are? Anyone in the Third Army after D-Day saw it all, the breakout from Normandy, the relief of the 101st at Bastogne during the Bulge, crossing the Rhine. The fact that he was with Patton in 43 meant he was in North Africa, and Sicily too. There are only a few guys in the world that can say the fought under Patton in all his campaigns. What a tremendous honor for you to know one.
Bill O'reilly talks about Sarah Palin and the third party...was a positive piece for Sarah.
Please Sheya, can we get the vid?
God bless our military...God bless Gov. Palin.
My dad's claim to fame in WW II - he broke ranks and kicked a German general in the behind as they were being marched in as POW's (he was a buck sergeant field artillery forward observer).

Law, you need Carbonite...Online backup. Hopefully you will not lose precious info. in the future. I learned the hard way...my computers back up everything now.
re: Sarah's FB post, who said "the last best hope of man on earth" ?
- you'll like the answer.
Amazing experience Gelston. Thanks for sharing it, and thanks for saying thank-you.
what part of HELL NO TO A THRD PARTY does Bill NOT get..and why the heck is he having Newt "DeDe is awesome" Gingrich on his show.
A call to arms by our future president.
Reminds me of the call to arms YT video by Lt. Col. West...who I'd like to see be our future Vice President.
Duty. Patriotism. Honor. Integrity. Freedom.
Palin/West 2012
I feel like these FB posts are Presidential press releases. :)
There may be some legislation or current event that the Governor may write about in the mean time. However, my prediction for her next Facebook post will be the first night of Hanukkah on Friday.
I predicted this one right. :)
I think Bill also said a third party would be exciting news for Obama. I do not think Bill O'Reilly thinks a third party can win...he thinks Sarah is the only one viable for a third party.
I asked him when he joined up with Patton. He did not fight in North Africa.
One of my most touching moments was when I was following my great grandfather through the Civil War. One of my WW II Vets was in some special forces. He loved seeing what I was doing to keep Samuel Gelston's memory alive. One day I showed him some things, turned to set them down and turned back to see him crying. All he said was, "how those men suffered." There is no glory in war, only suffering.
I have had patients from the 101st at Bostagne, Iwo Jima, Pearl Harbor and many other famous places in the war. And a man who spent two years as a Nazi POW. I have a patient who was 8 years old in Germany who have told me of the horros of the bombing. The striking common thread is what wonderful men they are.
Again, God bless them all.
Palin, the leader of a third party? O’Reilly, Gingrich Discuss (FoxNews Dec 7 2009)
Bill O’Reilly and Newt Gingrich discuss the potential of a new third “Tea” party movement in the USA led by Governor Sarah Palin. Includes Talking Points Memo

When I see what she writes it reminds me so much of Reagan. Like watching him speak at the D-Day ceremony back in the mid to late 80s... he connected with the people...he told their stories and honored those who sacrificed so much for us.
Never really mentioning himself or trying to insert himself into the story except perhaps to acknowledge that he was told something.
It's so refreshing to once again have someone I can look up to...someone presidential...who doesn't need to be a part of the story. Bush could do it too to an extent...but not like Palin or Reagan.
It's a nice change from President Narcissus, you know?
Dear manajordan,
Your message too was great, simple, and powerful. Thanks!!
Brianus
Thanks, terri!!!
Thanks, kjanlady!! I especially enjoyed, "We cannot hesitate, we cannot falter and we cannot fail"!!

Laker,
You win Comment of the Day for this gem you posted at FR regarding the tomato-thrower:
Boy those libs, they are full of love and peace and understanding aren’t they..Going around, throwing eggs, throwing tomatoes, throwing whatever they get their little hands on. Absolutely disgusting, thank God libs can’t throw to save their lives, but I hope that bastard is charged, thrown in the pokey and used like a loofa sponge by some guy who hasn’t been laid in years
This was the funniest thing I've read all day. A thousand internets to you.
My late grandfather, Annapolis '26, served in various theaters in WWII. I shall never forget his funeral in '88, the twenty-one-gun salute, taps, the pomp, etc.
God bless his memory, and that of all of the members of the Greatest Generation!!!
Brianus
thanks again sheya..geeezzz....how many times can I say that? lol
Totally O/T and not at all Governor Palin related.
I don’t know how many of you have been following the Amanda Knox case. I have been following it closely with great interest, from what I have heard and read I have always believed that Amanda is innocent.
Tonight on O’Reilly, CBS News “48 hours” correspondent, Peter Van Sant discusses this case and he too is convinced (with proof) that Amanda IS innocent. By promoting this video I hope it will encourage people to try and help out the family and help bring true justice to an innocent convict.

Beautiful: thanks, Mary Beth!!

Sarah Brave Heart fits too.
She just tweeted about Obama and Copenhaugen.
I think we may see another FB post soon.
Brianus,
I bet that was powerful. I don't care how hard core you are, when you hear taps and the gun salute ya gotta bawl like a baby..:-)
One of my sons best friends plays taps for the local vfw/american legion vets that have passed away.
Even something so simple as that can bring tears to your eyes.
Thanks, terri. Tears are one of God's greatest gifts to us, IMHO.
God bless you!!!
Brianus (and I am going to cry a river of them, I am not ashamed to admit it, on a certain November evening in 2012, when the word goes forth, to the nation and to the world, "Sarah Palin of Alaska has this day been elected President of the United States."!!)
MarkRNY,
I agree.
She gets the urgency we all feel.
We won't go down without a fight!
JP,
Absolutely: "Sarah Brave Heart"!!!

Brianus,
I'll be crying like a baby.
At that point I will completely understand the feeling behind the faces of those Obama supporters that I saw on tv...with tears streaming down thier faces. Because there are 3 things I want to happen before I pass from this world....
1-To finally have a female president
2-(living in a housefull of men).....a boatload of granddaughters ;-)
3-(I don't know if I'll ever see THIS)...my cubbies win the World Series.
I can gaurantee that I will be bawling like a baby at each of those events...lol.
But Brianus, when it is all said and done, I think when President Palin is standing at the podium after having been sworn in, the tears will be streaming down her cheek too. ;-)
^^^HA!....named after one of my absolute favorite movies!
Mel Gibson!!!
Dear Terri,
I am an AL fan (Athletics), but I too would love to see your Cubs win the Series. The Steve Bartman incident from '03 still haunts me.
Yes, I think Sarah's eyes too may not be dry on Inauguration Day 2013.
God bless you!!
Brianus
That's my take on it too. Her fingerprints were not in the house, right ? They said she "wiped off her fingerprints, but there were plenty of other fingerprints, so how would she do that. No fingerprints = not there
Best line: "FREEDOM!!"
My father was in France with Patton. He was a tank commander.
