Sarah Palin: The Tonight Show Last Night (Updated)

Via Facebook:

The Conan visit was fun – the best part was that we had Wounded Warriors with us in the audience. I can’t express how proud I am of their courage and patriotism.

I’m extremely happy that Laura Ingraham had the great idea to put the simple coat from the cover of my book to good use. It’s being auctioned to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Fisher House. Laura pulled it all together with a live auction that continues through December 18th. Click here to see the auction and God Bless the U.S.A!

- Sarah Palin

Governor Palin has posted several pictures from behind the scenes at her Tonight Show appearance last night. Click here to see them.

Update: Ben Smith from Politico writes that "Palin was, various Democrats emailed me, scary good on Tonight."

Great pix, I think she could soften a liberals heart!  And guess those "greek columns" are going into moth balls....

Sarah 2012!

Hefmier,  December 12, 2009 2:58 PM

She might melt some liberals hearts, but there will always be a fringe of people that will choose not to like her.

Money Maven,  December 12, 2009 2:59 PM

Laura could have done more to highlight Palin good effort on donating her jacket.  But oh well. We have to live with the fact that some conservative egos might be threatened by the abundance of Palin mania. lol

TSM Admin,  December 12, 2009 3:05 PM

Watching her stand there in that red jacket next to William Shatner gave me a thought.  In the next Start Trek movie, she should have a cameo as a Starship Captain!

Nancy,  December 12, 2009 3:09 PM

Oh, how I admire her humbleness.
Wounded warriors.
Laura Ingraham.
Simple jacket.

She truly has a servant's heart.

Lakerfanalways,  December 12, 2009 3:12 PM

She did so great last night..one of the best skits I have ever seen. I think Rush might have something to do with this since he met with Shatner a week ago to discuss healthcare on his BRAVO show..Sarah did so great, and the audience reaction WOW, it was outstanding

gelston the knowitall,  December 12, 2009 3:18 PM

the pictures prove that Sarah and Mr. Shatner met before the skit.
I thought Sarah was awesome.
I loved it that Conan, whom I barely know, waited for the applause to die down before he spoke. Jack Benny would have been proud of his timing.

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 3:29 PM

She needs to go on Leno next he has never thrown cheapshots at her, not that I know of anyway

MsLiberty,  December 12, 2009 3:32 PM

He certainly did a good job of looking surprised by her tho, didn't he?  I wasn't sure at first if he was expecting her or not. Shatner is a bit goofy, and he can be a ham for sure, but he's really a pretty good actor.  He was over the top in Star Trek, but the premise kind of called for that.  He's done some really quality work in his career, esp. on Boston Legal.

Sarah was great though, and I love the warm welcome she got.  It's an asset that she doesn't take herself too seriously and is able to laugh at herself.  I think all leaders should possess this quality.

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 3:33 PM

I loved the Bands reaction!  It was even better than the audience reaction...

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 3:34 PM

Yes ...he has..especially regarding the Curic Crap!

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 3:35 PM

ok how about Jimmy Kimmel I always thought he was great on The Man Show

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 3:36 PM

but then again.. I never really like Leno replacing Carson...but those were some very tough shoes to fill.  I'm thinking Parnell is feeling the same way??...perhaps?

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 3:43 PM

yes I think that is true Cruela, Parnell is the same as Sarah except he doesn't have the charisma she does and he doesn't attract the attention she does, I notice whenever they mention him in a news story they call him the Alaska Governor, when Sarah was governor they always mentioned her name, btw I have been meaning to ask you Cruela, why do you call yourself CruelaDev?

Emily (Jane Austen),  December 12, 2009 3:51 PM

She calls herself CruelaDev because she's craaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyy. Not the mean part :)

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 3:55 PM

I take you mean crazy like a fox? :)

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 3:57 PM

or should I say an Arctic Fox? ;)

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:02 PM

LMAO..!! Patrick...I earned that name because it is the direct contrast to who I really am when it comes to animals and especially dogs.  Being of a sarcastc sort...some would say...(I have NO idea where they get that notion)..it is opposite of my nature!  Unlike Sarah.. I would probably starve before I would kill anything...although I do fish...I do kill many a fish!  Heck there is MONEY in fishing.. therefore I fish! Oh I forgot.. I LOVE to burn cow butt in the summer...nothing like burning cow hide in the morning.. or cow crap all over your boots!

Anyway.. My sister breeds Golden's and I always end up watching them... at times I have been known to house 6-7 dogs plus my cat at my house...(when I had my house)...and they all slept on my bed...while my cat and I slept on the couch.   So now I house sit...which I will be doing later in the week...with my dog..her half sister and 2 cats...

Does that help?....

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:11 PM

Yes it does help Cruela LOL!, I like to fish too but I don't get to go all that often :(  I did get to fish with my uncle in upstate NY on Lake Canaderago (I think that is how it is spelled) beyond Cooperstown, NY, I have never hunted but I would love to learn and become one those guys who hunt (are you reading this Sarah?) I have one cat her name is Flash, she is a gray tabby cat with black tiger stripes and she hunts all the time

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:12 PM

this summer

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:13 PM

I have an awsome photo of my sister's latest Golden Litter.. I so wish I could post it here...

I will post it at Team Sarah...it is a must see!  IMHO

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:16 PM

I will definately check it out Cruela, I just have to remember my password at teamsarah it was many moons ago that I visited that sight, not because its bad or anything but because I get all of my Palin fixes at this sight :)

lmg,  December 12, 2009 4:17 PM

Flash can teach you to hunt. ;-)

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:17 PM

Just posted it..title is "Puppy Anyone?"

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:20 PM

Ha! however I would prefer to hunt with a gun not paws :)

eclecticak,  December 12, 2009 4:23 PM

Did you note the band members clapping enthusiastically off to the right? Shatner looked like he was smitten and Conan looked..... stunned. Lady Sarah won some more hearts, now to capture their minds!

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:23 PM

this is Flash with me Cruela

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:24 PM

Oh don't get me wrong.. I can shoot...I love to shoot.. hunting is a different thing..Like I said.. I would probably starve.

But when we fish in remote areas...we always take guns.  If provoked...no doubt...I will be the live creature in the end!

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:28 PM

When I was in the Boy Scouts I used to shoot, I need to get back into it

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:42 PM

just found it Cruela very cute :)

Zephyr,  December 12, 2009 4:44 PM

aaaawww...what a bunch of cuties!

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:50 PM

I have a fat grey guy.. he is an awesome cat...but nasty hunter.  He NEVER growls or hisses...unless he has a mouse or something.. then he just becomes "angry kitty"...he was a rescue kitty so I have no idea his age or background...I think he was a barn cat but never was feral...he is too sweet...unless you are a mouse.  I find he is also a one owner kitty...he puts his trust in only me...and no one else...sort of strange for a cat!

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 4:56 PM

The Great part about my sister's dogs.. a lot of them go into the therapy dog program...My sister has her therapy dog certification and she breeds her dogs in large part based on that specific program....and yes
it is possible to pick the right dogs and parents for this program...it amazes me what all it takes.

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 4:58 PM

Flash came into our house when she was 1 year old I was a sophomore in high school at the time (6 years ago) it was a cold rainy november and I saw Flash ( she was living throughout the neighborhood at the time) she started following me home and she went into the house, we decided to keep her because she would have frozen to death, our other cat a fat orange cat named Garfield wasn't too happy about it :)

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 5:01 PM

Maybe this this is a too personal question Cruela but I was wondering if you are married with children?

gelston the knowitall,  December 12, 2009 5:01 PM

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 5:05 PM

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 5:07 PM

I see your too much woman for some men...that problem can be easily resolved by not dating pussified liberal men :)

cookboy,  December 12, 2009 5:14 PM

Without going there, is that the one with Liz Montgomery?

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 5:14 PM

OT: here is a link at teamsarah you can send your comments to the Palins for Christmas http://www.teamsarah.org/profiles/blogs/send-your-christmas-message-to

Anonymous,  December 12, 2009 5:16 PM

Someone should also post a video of Shatner singing " Mr. Tambourine Man". Maybe it will be featured on an open thread tomorrow. It is hillarious. : )

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 5:24 PM

here is the message I sent, If any of you are members of teamsarah I encourage you to do the same if you have not already done so:

Merry Christmas Palin Family! Thank you for writing your book and being an inspiration to us all. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to any of your book signings in Ohio because I was taking final exams. Nevertheless, I look forward to what you will have to say next year. You won't be sitting down and shutting up thats for sure! Like a nanook defending her cub, you will always defend the beliefs and values that made country great!

Patrick Gooch
Dayton, OH

P.S. I am PatrickinOH at C4P and I was fortunate enough to see you being introduced to the nation at the Ervin J. Nutter Center here in Dayton! I also hope to visit your wonderful state soon.

ChillinInMN,  December 12, 2009 5:27 PM

I LOVED the Tonight Show appearance last night. She did a great job!

Really, really loved the "...and I was gonna visit that elephant in my underwear" (nice blink) and pause and looks over at him, the crowd errupts!  Damn, she's good!

terri,  December 12, 2009 5:30 PM

Guest.
Hard to fine "Mr Tambourine Man", but I found this of "Rocket Man"....It's the same premise.
Enjoy???

CruelaDev,  December 12, 2009 6:10 PM

but Parnell is exactly what Alaska needed right now.  He is not showy, or classy.  He is easily forgetable and flies under the radar.  BUT he has a good heart and is firm on his conservative principles.  He is getting stuff done without attracting the attention of the Alaska nut-jobs, until the AG can get the ethics laws changed to allow for some protection.

JeanA,  December 12, 2009 6:51 PM

Gov. Palin on the Conan show.

"According to an aide traveling with Palin, she mingled with other guests including Tony Bennett and Zack Braff after her appearance, and wore the red jacket from her book cover for the last time.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

defendAmerica,  December 12, 2009 6:54 PM

adding a little more value to that jacket?!

Nancy,  December 12, 2009 7:04 PM

Yes, it does.

Nancy,  December 12, 2009 7:05 PM

Yes, it does pi#% me off!

PatrickinOH,  December 12, 2009 7:12 PM

did you see the comments there, these ppl cannot take a joke! I guess they have to go back on their meds again

KeeleyH,  December 12, 2009 7:20 PM

It sounds kind of sad that she wore the red jacket "for the last time". I hope whoever wins the bid will take good care of it, and someday donate the jacket to the "Sarah Palin Presidential Library".

cookboy,  December 12, 2009 7:46 PM

Gooch was the 1st royal governor of Virginia almost 400 years ago. Goochland County is named in his, and I suspect your, honor.
