Good Morning!

techno, December 5, 2009 8:25 AM

Folks, if you have not already heard AP (Allahpundit) over at Hot Air (HA) has posted a Quote of the Day (QOTD) on Sarah Palin's religious-inspired video while visiting with Billy Graham. As I wrote over at HA, prior to his posting I would have laid the same odds of AP doing this as I would have laid that no more Tiger Woods' mistresses would be found beyond the three that have been unveiled-slim and none.

By the way I hear mistress #4 is about to come forward.

Why IMHO this is a tremendous post is that it again reaffirms Sarah's deep abiding faith and from a political point of view allows Huckabee's evangelical supporters that are thinking of abandoning Huck may come to realize that Sarah is just as devout as Huck is and that by jumping on her bandwagon they know their political needs will be met by Sarah.

My Dear Friends in Sarah,

It is so very good to greet you all again! I am sorry that the requirements of various duties have kept me away for some time. However, as always, please know that I am never absent from you in prayer and thought. Especially in the last two weeks or so, I have been praying for HER as never before, since I have been most concerned for her safety in the course of her wonderful book tour. The good Lord CANNOT permit anything to happen to her!! We will storm and besiege and take Heaven with our supplications before anything like that could occur!!

I would like to share a few thoughts with you about the book. I will try to keep this relatively brief, since I
know that prolix posts can be difficult to read through!

First, let me observe that it seems to me that Sarah's precious book, like our very nation itself, was "conceived in liberty," and has been brought forth into our world at this critical hour for our Republic by a fearless American patriot, a fearless American stateswoman, a fearless American mom!!

To open the pages of this book is to stand poised on the threshold of a bridge that leads to the land of the tale of a brave, beautiful, unique American woman. However, an angel stands at the head of this bridge with a drawn sword, demanding a toll for the crossing of it. The toll is a coin, the golden coin of a sincere and open and clean spirit and mind. The haters and the vicious ones will never be able to pay the toll, will never traverse the bridge, will never perceive Sarah as she really is. Those, on the contrary, who approach with an open heart will forthwith pass over into the bracing realm of the Last Frontier and of a spirit and soul formed and molded in that world.

This book is one of the finest I have ever read or will ever hope to read. It is replete with lyric beauty, with prose beauty, even with epistolary beauty (the "letter" from the Lord about little Trig), accompanied by a quiet, subtle sense of humor.

This book will never receive any literary prizes, because the left has hijacked control of such awards. However, we have already, I think, awarded Sarah a Pulitzer, nay even a Nobel Prize from and in and of our hearts for her own Testamentum Cordis, her own Testament of the Heart, a very great heart that truly, in this hour, seems to be the very heart of America itself.

A quick note about the photos: I love them all, but my two favorites are a pair that are juxtaposed, Sarah reading to Trig, her youngest. about "Alaska's First People," and Sarah, the proud mom, standing with her eldest, Track. She is a mom of moms!!

Anyway, dear friends, here are ten favorite passages of mine, given in a somewhat random order, for the most part. They are certainly not numbered in order of preference. I could easily select another ten, another hundred, other hundreds. All of you could too! I have attached very brief remarks about each passage. However, no remarks are really needed: the book speaks for itself; Sarah's bold, gutsy, tough, gentle, steely, kind, courageous life speaks for itself.

1) pp.102-104; sheer beauty: Sarah's contemplative long-distance runs as Track places water bottles and encouraging notes along the way; rocking with Piper in the night's still, quiet time of contemplation and reflection, a passage from the prophet Jeremiah...my friends, these three pages have the power even now, as I type this, to move me to tears as I read them yet again...

2) pp. 165-167: visit to wounded Alaskan warriors in Germany: this noble lady truly appreciates and loves our military, she "gets it," she understands the spirit of sacrifice for a higher cause, a spirit without which our Republic would perish; a spirit with which the United States of America will flourish for [...]

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 8:30 AM

(CONTINUED)

6) pp. 325-326: Piper and the Halloween candy and the Secret Service Agent: wonderful...

7) pp. 239-246: The teleprompter fails Sarah during her RNC speech: she meets the challenge as only a champion of champions can...to this day I suspect that an obama operative bribed a technician to sabotage the teleprompter....

8) p. 303 the military bracelet: this lady WILL be our Commander-in-Chief...

9) p. 208 the fireweed: this is a passage of extraordinary imagery and lyric, evocative power...and truly a new season is only a short time away for America, after the utter nightmare of obama's "victory"...

10) pp. 399-403: like # 1 above this one moves me to tears every time I read it....Sarah, running, running, nearly hyperventilating in a quiet nook of California...running, approaching the turnaround point, as America approaches her turnaround point...Sarah, running, thinking, praying, running...dear Sarah, we who love and esteem and admire you so much are running with you, are fighting with you, are suffering with you, are praying with you!!!

Dear friends, even here I had to exclude many "choice" passages to select these ten. This is a book to read and reread and think about and draw inspiration and power from...verily to feast on. Praised be the Lord, who gives the United States of America heroines like Sarah from Alaska...OUR SARAH!!!

God bless you all!!!

Good morning barbarians. What is this I see.....Sarah's barbarian army sleeping late on a Saturday morning? That's okay...we deserve a little off time, it's been a very busy Sarah week and there's more to come!

I can't wait for the gridiron dinner tonight...this is going to be fun. I hope Sarah speaks first
before Barney. If she gives a powerful speech with just the right amount of zingers in enemy territory, then Barney will lose it . What idiots would ever invite Barney Frank to speak. I wouldn't want to sit on the first two or three rows in front of the podium.....the spittle is bound to be flying.....they can say what they want, but the liberals both in Washington and the media fear have a justified fear of Sarah. I'm glad the handsome hunk husband Todd is there to take care of Sarah in the heart of enemy territory. I wonder who Barney is bringing as his date.....didn't his boyfriend get caught running some sex related felony in Barney's house. Of course, the feeble-minded Barney didn't know a thing about it.

Should be interesting, hope it's all on video.

techno, December 5, 2009 8:38 AM

Sarah does not believe in coincidences and neither do I. Thus I do not believe it is a coincidence that since Nov 17 (release of Going Rogue) for the most part that Obama's poll numbers have gone in the tank with even state-run media CNN yesterday reporting from its own poll that Obama's overall F/UF are now 48/50.

Coda, December 5, 2009 8:49 AM

You won't believe this, well maybe you will. This is from FR.

Critic files complaint against Alaska officials (Andree McLeod ankle-biting)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A longtime critic of Sarah Palin on Friday filed an ethics complaint alleging past aides of the former Alaska governor misused state resources during her run as the Republican vice presidential candidate.
Andree McLeod filed her complaint with the state attorney general's office.
Five other ethics complaints filed by McLeod against Palin or her staff have been dismissed, although one included a recommendation that ethics training be provided for a staffer who made questionable comments in e-mails. A sixth complaint by McLeod is pending.

Good morning, Mia,

Remember the idea we came up with a couple or so months ago: An Oakland Raiders jersey for Sarah for Christmas? Well, let's just say I have not forgotten the idea!!

Brianus

Mia, December 5, 2009 8:54 AM

Brianus...Let me know how I can Help!... :)

techno, December 5, 2009 8:54 AM

From the QOTD thread I mentioned above-a sentiment which is spiritually powerful and gets to the core of Sarah Palin's political philosophy:

From chriscoolc:

"If one understands how a self-reliant man of integrity and self-worth can be a benefit to society, then one can understand the basic way God's grace is transmitted to society as well. By being holy, and knowing your worth and building your resistance to dependence and helplessness, the reservoir of your human spirit overflows to the benefit of all. That is the justification as I see it for a leader calling for prayer and fasting (in Billy Graham video)."

"On the other hand, a leader might pervert this and call for sacrifice first, work first, help first. It sounds good, but as it seeks to heal the spirits of others, it ignores the spirit of the helper. With hollowness at the core, this only leads to ADDICTIVE DEPENDENCE. Rather than a society where goodness flows from the good, materials and coerced affirmations are drained off to feed the unquenchable thirst of those who cannot love themselves."

"I think Sarah Palin realizes that you can't help others unless you help yourself first; she knows that respect comes from within, not from something distributed by the government. This is the whole reason we value separation of powers, representation, and free market capitalism, because it counteracts, channels, converts, and deflects the wielding of power by an unfulfilled human spirit; it provides for good men and women to live good lives, without being trampled and tread upon by those who would wish to overpower us."

Mia, December 5, 2009 8:57 AM

BTW....Good AM to you Brianus...and...I look forward to your post...when you are able to grace the C4P site....

juju, December 5, 2009 9:04 AM

This morning don't forget to have a special prayer for Bean Counter who had surgery a few days ago. May she be blessed with God's hand and the spirit of the Lord be with her and her family. We all wish her well.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:06 AM

Thanks, Mia...I'll keep you updated re the jersey. It is probably too much to hope that Sarah, when she gets the jersey, will put it on and have a photo taken of herself in it and send it to me: a) she is VERY busy right now; b) I suspect she may be a Steelers fan at heart.

Still, I can hope!!

Brianus

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:10 AM

Dear juju,

Yes, our dear friend Bean Counter has been in my daily prayers for months now...thanks for the update...God bless her...and YOU!!

Brianus

Kjanlady, December 5, 2009 9:11 AM

Welcome back BB. We have missed you. I recommend that you get the audiobook...hearing Sarah's stories in Sarah's own voice is like hearing from a long lost but treasured friend on a daily basis. A good companion to listen to when events of the day become hard to bear or fear for our future or the country's future creeps upon us. Welcome back Brianus...loved the passages you highlighted.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:14 AM

Thank you, kjanlady; that is beautiful what you wrote!!!

Yes, I love the LIVING VOICE...and I love Sarah's voice especially. This is a great idea!!

Brianus

An interesting take on Obama and America forsaking God while commenting on Sarah Palin's call for the USA to rededicate itself to seeking God's will:

From Daisyjane69:

"Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe God is going to forgive us our bit of foolishness. He's going to give us a MULLIGAN.

But just one.

After this, we're on our own."

NB: a mulligan in golf is when you are permitted a second try at a shot after the first shot goes amiss and causes one to end up in a predicament. Thus one is able to disregard the punitive results of his first attempt.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:16 AM

Vox viva et vivificans...a voice living and life-giving...sorry, I just couldn't resist a little Latin this fine Saturday morning!!!

Mia, December 5, 2009 9:18 AM

juju....Bean Counter was a special intention at the children's mass yesterday...at our local Catholic School...

Mia, December 5, 2009 9:24 AM

CRUELA!!!!!...I'm worried for you!!!...You read another BOOK????
WHAAAAAAAAAT?????....You are Scaring ME!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:28 AM

Hey, Cruela, it's SILVER and BLACK...LOL!!!! Still, this is a terrible time to be a Raiders fan. It's very hard to "keep the faith" right now. A once-proud franchise has become a joke!

Brianus

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 9:28 AM

Brain Tumor.. that is the only thing I can think of!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:29 AM

I, personally, think she'd look cool in Raiders colors!!!

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 9:31 AM

My Dog is passed out on my bed right now.. and I held onto her a lot more tightly this morning! Man what a great book!

Mia, December 5, 2009 9:36 AM

Brianus...Have you voted...RE:...changing the color of the uniforms???

cookboy, December 5, 2009 9:38 AM

Nice to hear from you!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:41 AM

Thanks, cookboy...and thanks again for the prayer support you guys gave me a few weeks ago!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:43 AM

Hey, Mia, what vote is this? Have I missed something? I have been out of the loop a bit, I guess!!

FLREPUB, December 5, 2009 9:45 AM

Just curious why an Oakland Raiders jersey?...the Raiders always remind me of a bunch of thugs. :)

Mia, December 5, 2009 9:46 AM

Go to Oakland Raiders site...Davis is thinking of changing the colors...

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 9:46 AM

Yah.. Whatever! silver.. white...whatever! ;)....I'm kind of a Blue and Orange fan myself...and a PROUD Card Carrying Member of the "RAIDER HATERS CLUB!"..GO BRONCOS!...LOL!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:47 AM

No, no, no...sacrilege!!! SILVER and BLACK forever!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:48 AM

LOL, Cruela...well, we both hate the Chargers anyway!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:51 AM

Actually, Raiders fans come in all shapes and sizes. Years ago, I used to study my Latin and Greek (yes) while waiting for the Raiders to take the field in Oakland. Bill King, the late, great voice of the Raiders, was an expert in Russian literature...in the original. The "thug" image is a phenomenon of recent years; I am an Oakland fan from way back!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:52 AM

I think Sarah would look GREAT in a Raiders jersey!!--IMHO!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 9:52 AM

BTW, the great Vince Lombardi was a high-school Latin teacher earlier in his career!!

Jammie Wearing Fool's explanation of cancellation - GORE EFFECT

How about " Why it's snowing in South Texas and making us look retarded"

Question: Why is Obama going to Copenhagen and confirming our fears that he is retarded? Or at least an obsessive ideologue without an ounce on common sense. According to a well known movie character... "Stupid is as Stupid Does"

By the way, the snow is melting here in South Louisana and chunks of ice are falling from the trees and from roofs. Temps climbing to mid-50's. Darn....could this be that elusive global warming in action.

Interesting that CNN is about inline with Rasmussen now.

defendAmerica, December 5, 2009 10:16 AM

Good morning all! Catching up on all your comments from last night. I was so happy to see Sarah's Fort Hood visit kept calm and out of any major spotlight. Just Sarah connecting with her soldiers.

Was also very happy to see that Todd was able to leave their construction projects at home for a while to experience some of the book tour fun! It appears that mom, dad, and piper have gone home... haven't seen any sightings of them for a few stops now...

Guess Todd came in to escort Sarah to dinner tonight ;)

techno, December 5, 2009 10:17 AM

As CNN polls are rumored to overpoll dems it may be possible that the results reflect more of a decline in Leftist support for Obama than the Right suddenly waking up to Obama's flaws. I think much of the Right has caught on to Obama by now.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 10:24 AM

defendAmerica,

I love the way you put that: Sarah connecting with HER soldiers. She will indeed be their (and our) commander-in-chief. Thank you!!

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 10:24 AM

We will warm up to a balmy 36 degrees today.. 27 now...far cry from the -5 w had yesterday...
But alas...Snow is again on the way tonight! I don't mind the snow. It keeps it warmer. It is the clear nights that I hate. The more stars in the sky...the colder it will be!

Cruela--congrats on the book reading!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 10:32 AM

I know, Cruela!! How do you sign thousands and thousands and thousands of books!?! Still, I think it is Sarah's genuine love for her people, along with the grace of the Lord, that sustains her!!

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 10:33 AM

Hey Nancy...if I can swing it we should hook up on Tuesday! I don't get off until 5pm and it will take awhile to get up north through traffic. But if I can get there and you are there.. I would love to meet you!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 10:34 AM

Good morning, Whitney!!!

JP, December 5, 2009 10:45 AM

Don't forget that she also got a bracelet from a lady in the Ft. Hood video that is supposed to help with the pain in her neck and cramps in her hand.
Magnetic bracelet maybe?

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 10:46 AM

I am trying to read Michele Malkin's book.. started it when I had to sit for hours for Jury duty. But I am finding that..." Hell I lived this Crap.. I remember this Crap...Why do I want to read about this Crap?".. so I doubt I will finish that one...No offense Michelle..but It just pisses me off more. She lives here in the Springs.. and if I ever run into her.. I will thank her for her book and all the hard work she put into it.

Whitney, December 5, 2009 10:55 AM

Oh, that meeting would be a hoot. :) Hehe. I hope you two do get to meet up.

Ceejay, December 5, 2009 10:55 AM

I hope that Sarah gives Ole Barn that look she has, looking almost over her glasses, like "man, I am here, and if you mess up, I will call you out on it, and I will let you know when you are overstepping your boundaries, you are the cause of the Fannie and Freddie debacle, so Ole Barn, watch your step, ah say, did you hear that I can field dress a moose?"

Talk about a proverbial shot across the bow!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarah 2012!

Ceejay, December 5, 2009 10:59 AM

He should change the name from Raiders to something else JMO

Sarah 2012!

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 11:02 AM

Ceejay, December 5, 2009 11:03 AM

Thanks, OldDude...and, wow, I am still feeling the glow, a fortnight later, from the Big Game. It was one of the best in the last thirty or so yrs, IMHO!!!

GO Bears vs the Dawgs today!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 12:05 PM

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 12:10 PM

Hi, Emily/Jane,

It is great that you are back. I have been "in and out" a lot in recent weeks due to various duties and responsibilities. Therefore, I do not know when you returned, but it is great to see you here again!!

God bless,

Brianus

OldDude, December 5, 2009 12:14 PM

I agree! and yes, I still have the same glow. Well played game on both sides with MANY Bears rising to the occasion...Vereen and the O-line were truly heroic...exciting to the end with much ebb and flow.

9-3 with a victory over UDub...but I still don't really know how good the PAC-10 is...they have eaten their own all season, however. Oregon should represent us well in the Rose Bowl if they are on...a little streaky but when Masoli is making good decisions, they are potent.

I'll have to tape the game tonight so should be good late night viewing.

GO BEARS!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 12:27 PM

Yes, if Oregon can avoid their "Achilles heel," turnovers, I think they can take down the Buckeyes. Enjoy the tape of the game tonight!!! GO BEARS!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 12:29 PM

I love it, OldDude!!!!!!

juju, December 5, 2009 12:33 PM

Is something wrong with the counter?? It says one thing on the front page and another thing here in the comment section. Sometimes I don't get the page listings at the bottom. On the first thread I can only get 5 comments.

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 12:39 PM

juju,

It has been a little weird for me too. The counter jumps around and changes its count...strange!! Sometimes rebooting can help, I think...though I am no tech guru!!

Bill in Baltimore, December 5, 2009 12:41 PM

I got my 2 books signed and spoke briefly with Sarah, Todd, and Chuck.

I will post later tonight, but it was well worth it !

She looked fantastic and had the cutest hat on, ladies (and gents), wait till you see this, you will freak out, in a good way.

I shook Todd's hand and Chuck's hand.

I didn't spas when I spoke to her, I told her I was Bill in Baltimore from C4P, and the Reagan's Army loves her and supports her, and I know that for a fact.

She was very attuned to me even though she's busy as all get out and she said "God Bless You" !

It was well worth it, more later.

Sarah 2012

Bill in Baltimore, December 5, 2009 12:43 PM

^^^ plus she had this cool black jacket with designs and stuff, you'd have to be up close to get the pattern, but it too was awesome, and I think a black shirt / turtleneck or something plain, but she is so cool, as is Todd and the rest.

Didn't see any signs of Trig, Piper, or Mom.

Also met Liv Hoffman of C4P !

Nancy, December 5, 2009 12:46 PM

Brianus,
It is awesome to have you around today!:) Loved your comment!

Praying for Bean!:)

Whoever Governor Palin is working with on her speech for tonight, they must be having a ball with it! I would love to hear the lines that will not make the cut into her speech!:)

Dear Nancy,

Thank you so much. It always warms my heart to read your comments. As I noted on a post somewhere else today, the friendships I have made on this site have been priceless to me, living as I am in the People's Republic of Berkeley.

God bless!!

Brianus

Cruela,
I was thinking you had to work, so I had resigned myself to not getting to meet you! I would love to meet you!:)
I am still figuring out who and how many will be with me. And I don't know when I will get there in the morning to get a wristband. Borders said you can start lining up at 8 am, you can't set up things to hold a place before 8, so are there going to be hundreds of people sitting in their cars waiting until 8 and then everyone runs for their lives to get in line? I think I would like to video that, as I'm running too!
Are you going to be there in the morning, or is someone going to het a wristband for you?
Also, Nande is going to be around too, we should try to find her.

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 1:22 PM

I talked one of our Agents into getting in line to get a wrist band for me.. I told him to buy a book too and I would go back in the evening to get it signed for him. You will have time to kill between wrist band time and signing...head downtown and maybe we can do lunch....?...

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 1:24 PM

Thanks, gelston...thank God for all of you and for your most generous prayers for me during this difficult year...thank God for Sarah!!!

God bless!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus, December 5, 2009 1:26 PM

Have fun, you guys. I know you will tell us all about it!!!!

Nancy, December 5, 2009 1:34 PM

Cruela,
I'm so glad you will be there! Borders also said, and I am going to call again on Monday, and make sure all of my information is correct, but you do not have to buy a book from Borders, it can be from any store, and she will sign it. So, I'm going to buy from Walmart. I would love to have lunch with you! I will probably head home until 6pm and show up right before 7, because I am assuming, if you have a wristband you are guaranteed to meet her and get your book signed. What do you think?

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 1:38 PM

Sounds good.. I can take lunch whenever...11:30 will work.. give me a call at 719-634-0500. If I don't answer just ask for Patti.

CruelaDev, December 5, 2009 1:40 PM
