Good Morning!

Well, gang, it's showtime. I'm on my way to the hospital to have my little buddy Barack the cancerous tumor impeached from my chest.

I'm just hoping that the entire experience is boring and that there are no surprises in the operating room, like finding a few of Barack's czars lurking in there along with him, but it should be ok.

I've got a 4 hr. wait from the time I get there until the surgery is scheduled, so all I know is, there had better be some serious drugs with my name on them.

I'll have to go dark for awhile, but will report in as soon as I am deemed competent to operate a mouse.

As always, I do so appreciate the wonderful support from the barbarian horde.

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 7:25 AM

You are in my prayers! I pray that the impeachment trial goes well and that no czars have been appointed!

For the last few days we have all commented on C4P as well as other right-wing web sites on Mike Huckabee's potential demise because of the Clemmons' episode. I cannot pretend otherwise from a political point of view that I was delighted with the possibility that Huck may end up losing his stature in Intrade and in the polls, as I would any political competitor. I do not hate Huckabee as I loathe the Messiah. To me Huck, or Romney or any other dark horse who is competition to Sarah is someone to respect, but I know numbers-politics is a zero-sum game-when somebody goes up, somebody goes down.

Yes, from a political point of view I will not be a hypocrite; I didn't want Huck to succeed. Having said that I feel it is important to take a look at the long picture and from that point of view I do not feel it would be prudent for critics of Huck's decision to take their outrage much further. Huck is damaged politically. I suggest we all leave it that.

Get into the minds of hundreds of thousands of Huck's supporters, especially his evangelical supporters. Many of them are now angered at conservatives and/or Palin or Romney supporters as they perceive that conservatives have taken their outrage much too far, especially in attacking Huck's religion. As I pointed out yesterday not all evangelicals are conservatives; you never know what these folks might do. As I pointed out in a matchup between Sarah and Obama among evangelicals Sarah gets 63% of the vote but Obama still gets 30%. Would evangelicals flock to the Messiah (Obama) out of spite? I know it is three years out, but let's face facts, Sarah cannot beat Obama in 2012 without a greater majority of Huck's evangelical support.

So what I am suggesting that we lay off Huck starting today-let the universe unfold and let the PPP poll coming out in a few days to reflect whether Huck has lost support or not and move on to advancing Sarah's agenda without any mention of Huck. Now of course if new revelations crop up that may go out the window but as it stands it's like beating a dead horse. And of course if Huck resorts to attacking Sarah in a last-ditch attempt to save his political career, then that changes the lay of the land as well.

I know this may be a minority position among conservatives but on reflection I think in our enthusiasm and passion to dismiss Huck we might have temporarily lost sight of the ultimate goal, and that goal is to defeat the Democrats in 2010 and oust Obama from office in 2012. It's time to get back on track.

This is a tale of folks who couldn't get their stories straight. From AP at Hot Air:

1) The One (Obama) says withdrawal will begin in July 2011 no matter what

2) Secretary of Defense Gates says we're striving hard to have it begin in July 2011 but ultimately it'll depend on conditions circa Dec 2010

3) McChrystal's read on it is TBD

4) And that leaves Hillary (Secretary of State) who I THINK is in the Gates camp but I'm not sure

She says Obama wants to see the handover to Afghans to begin in 2011 but that "It needs to be done in a responsible way that is conditions-based."

Then in discussing the surge Hillary says, "All of that will enable us to make the goal of 2011 a real target to aim at."

From AP: If it's merely a goal they're shooting for, then it isn't "locked in" per the One's command.

Rush is going to have a field day with this later today. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Absolutely pathetic.

You know it occurred to me, unless we have successfully defeated or at least substantially debilitated AQ, it will not be good optics, to have troops coming home on the 10th commemoration of 9/11. Are these people crazy, specially if the terrorist trials are also ramping up around that time. They play these games with us, thinking that there is no alternative. Unlike the 30s, when there really was no popular groundswell against FDR's policies, except that of Coughlin and Townsend, and that was because he wasn't radical enough, and the 90s, where the messengers were flawed to be charitable,

Folks, if you have not heard Jim Robinson, the owner of one of the most prominent right-wing, conservative web sites for the exchange of ideas has ENDORSED Sarah for POTUS.

For the C4P editors, I suggest you highlight this endorsement.

For the rest of us here is my take on it:

1) Instantly among conservatives it makes Sarah a major player in the 2012 race, even though at C4P we already knew that

2) It makes a 'conservative-minded' Republican less likely to challenge Palin now as it would be very difficult to become viable under these circumstances. Having said that I think somebody will still try; that's the nature of ego and politics.

3) Sarah now has free access to Freepers in terms of fundraising capability; as I understand it there are about 300,000 Freepers

4) Sarah can use FR as a sounding board an instrument of immediate feedback in developing her positions and ideas knowing the owner of the site is behind her 100%.

5) Robinson's endorsement shuts out any competition that may crop up to challenge Palin and gives them one less important vehicle for Palin's competitor's to get their message across. Romney is now persona non grata over at FR; and so is Huck.

Huckabee's behavior is breathtaking in it's lack of judgement, 1,033 pardons, maybe they were better off with Jim Guy Tucker. What made him think he could be so cavalier in the use of the pardon power. Now we see although we always suspected why the media was floating him up, McKinnon was suggesting to be his campaign manager on Hardball, (that's like the XO of the Titanic after the iceberg struck)

Good morning fellow barbarians.

Just been touring the web and ran across a couple of pro-Palin articles to share.

From American Thinker....Do all the good writers who like Sarah go there?

http://americanthinker.com/2009/12/sarah-palins-reagan-qualities-html

and a review of Going Rogue....the line I like best..'It's not exactly a classic rags to riches story, it is at least a "diapers to destiny" one.'

http://www.headlinebistro.com/en/columnists/caulfield/index.html

I read that Sarah extended her book signing in Springfield by an hour to get as many people as possible in the long line before she left to give College of Ozarks speech.  What a nice lady.....her hand must be painful by now.

Police in Palmview found a drug stash on routine traffic stop.  The stash included ecstasy pills, heroin, cocaine, and marijauna.  The ecstasy pills were in the images of such figures as:

Barack Obama

Do you think Obama has been busy setting up an alternate business should his failing presidency result in his unemployment soon?

Finally, an image of Obama that makes people happy?

Rasmussen daily tracking poll:

-11 (29-40) strongly approve-strongly disapprove

gain of 1 point

Obama has gained 3 points in 3 days

-8 (46-54) approve-disapprove

in contrast Obama has lost 3 points in his overall approval numbers in 3 days

COMMENT:

1) Perhaps Obama's speech on Afghanistan has caused for some to have their passion tempered from strongly disapproving to now just somewhat disapproving but nevetheless, bottom line. today Obama is only given up the thumbs up by 46% of respondents. Apparently conversation over Thanksgiving dinner did not convince many Americans to re-embrace Obama and again call him The Anointed One.

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 9:42 AM

I don't think any conservative who questioned Huck's judgment was wrong or out of line and if the backlash continues, that is fine with me.  This isn't the first time that he has been soft on crime.  He also has come out publically in the last couple of days and stated that he would do it all over again.  What???

Remember....this is the same man who decided to shift the blame to prosecutors and other judges for his own lack of judgment in this particular case.  How about taking some ownership and be a man?

In regards to your thoughts of perhaps angering his supporters, I am surprised you would even react this way.  Are you stating that we all need to play nice with one another just for the sake of Governor Palin's future?  I don't think she would want us to sit down and shut up.  I think she would want us to express our views (however different they may be to others) and let the chips fall where they may.

To be honest, I think all of this enabling behavior is what has gotten us to where we are today in government.  Mike Huckabee is not someone who should be President of the United States.  His liberal attitude and subjective thoughts of being compassionate to others, not only in this case, but his stance on illegal immigrants makes him more of a Democrat than a Republican and not someone who should be running on the Republican ticket.  For some odd reason he has been able to convince his supporters that he is a Conservative.  I guess he is a better politician than I thought, but then again, Bill Clinton was also able to convince 42% of Americans to vote for him too.

narciso,  December 3, 2009 9:44 AM

Sarah will be a natural at this, she is among others, very much like Will Rogers, in her self deprecating wit, here's another figure that you need to keep your eye on;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP2p91dvm6M&feature=player_embedded

techno,  December 3, 2009 9:55 AM

I am talking about the attacks on Huckabee from strictly a hardcore political point of view.

I only wanted to be a harbinger of what could happen if the 'public crucifixion' of Huck does not stop. I believe in political bloodlust, but why don't we save it for the Messiah and the Dems.

In the final analysis, Huck could prove to become an ally of Sarah's while she is striving to gain the nomination and after she secures it. Let's not treat him like an anathema or pariah.

But if conservatives become too bitter or vindictive in their criticism of Huck, they may drive him and/or his supporters away forever.

And finally I would never tell anyone 'to sit down and shut up' but I would encourage folks to become politically circumspect and to think seriously about the possible political ramifications in their continued pursuit from Huck for a pound of his flesh.

Would Sarah really want her supporters to act in this manner? I think not.

PEC,  December 3, 2009 10:03 AM

My guess is the Holidays will hurt him more.  That is when families get together and then people see 1st hand Cousin Jim is unemployed and has been for 6+ months.  None of this well but the market is up. Wall Street vs Main Street.

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 10:05 AM

Thanks for your concern everyone! :) I appreciate it! I'll be able to get my window replaced this afternoon so all is well!

There's a silver lining in everything. I got to experience our first snow flakes falling into my car on my way home last night. Plus, the police officer who helped me out happened to be good looking, so that didn't hurt. ;)

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 10:15 AM

Kjanlady,  December 3, 2009 10:16 AM

What a powerful voice for freedom!  I'd love to see him and Sarah on stage.......the noise would shake the building.

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 10:18 AM

Huck is not an anathema or pariah.  I don't think anyone has ever said or made that implication. I also do not believe anyone has become too bitter or vindictive just because things are coming to light after this tragedy, that don't put him in the best position moving forward.

All that I have been reading and hearing the last few days are people just stating their opinions of his poor judgment which I personally use in evaluating who I believe should run for POTUS; regardless of party affiliation.

As for Governor Palin, I'll disagree with you there.  If personal character and judgment were not major factors, she never would have wanted to make a larger issue out of Obama's past and present associations.  Because Obama's own personal judgment was not heavily questioned by the media and his own followers, we now have a guy in the White House who hired his personal friends from Chicago, and also "Czars" that are playing key roles in making decisions that I do not agree with regarding the future of our country - be it the military, to the climate, to the environment, etc.

One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On Tuesday, November 17, I returned home. If you read the papers, you may have seen a blurb where an AirTran flight was canceled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before takeoff. It was on Fox.

That was NOT what happened!

I was in first class coming home. Eleven Muslim men got on the plane in full attire. Two sat in first class and the rest peppered themselves throughout the plane all the way to the back. As the plane taxied to the runway, the stewardesses gave the safety spiel we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively. This took the first stewardess out of the picture for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at the time. He ignored her as if she wasn't there.

The second man who answered the phone did the same and this took out the second stewardess. In the back of the plane at this time, 2 younger Muslims, one in the back aisle, and one in front of him, window, began to show footage of a porno they had taped the night before, and were very loud about it. Now, they are only permitted to do this prior to Jihad. If a Muslim man goes into a strip club, he has to view the woman via mirror with his back to her (don't ask me, I don't make the rules, but I've studied). The third stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said, "Shut up, infidel dog!" She went to take the camcorder and he began to scream in her face in Arabic.

Mike Huckabee is NOT the enemy. He is on our side.

I got up and started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size say, "I got your back." I grabbed the man who had been on the phone by the arm and said, "you WILL go sit down or you Will be thrown from this plane!" As I led him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed out with him. I then grabbed the second man and said, "You WILL do the same!" He protested but adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go. As I escorted him forward, the plane doors open and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control. I was happy to oblige actually. There was some commotion in the back, but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then unloaded their luggage.

We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happened, when suddenly, the door opened again and on walked all eleven!! Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent told her they had searched them and were going to go through their luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent, "we and our crew will not fly this plane!" After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. Five minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on.

Again, this is where I had had enough!! I got up and asked, "What the hell is going on?" I was told to take my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly. I said, "I'm getting off this plane." The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off.

Now I'm mad! I said, "I am a grown man who bought this ticket, who's time is mine with a family at home and I am going through that door, or I'm going through that door with you under my arm!! But I am going through that door!!" And I heard a voice behind me say, "So am I." Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same. Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was canceled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am.

Look up the date. Flight 297, Atlanta to Houston.

If this wasn't a dry run, I don't know what one is. They wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it.

I'm telling this to you because I want you to know. The threat is real. I saw it with my own eyes.

************************************************************************
Wow, after that news about the plane flight, I feel a little silly announcing this could be big news, but I nearly fainted when I heard it -- and I was in the gym!

Glenn Beck began his broadcast today with six pages of events you wouldn't have believed a year ago that have come to pass since Obama was elected.  He said someone yesterday asked him what Glenn's plans for 2010 were specifically, as in "cut to the chase."

Glenn said, and I quote, "FOLLOW THE NORTH STAR."  He said he was going to use a fixed compass point to guide us.  I know what I thought of.  How about you guys?  This was around the time of the first break he takes, about 9:20 if anyone can get the audio.

And, Bean, all the best with the impeachment.  Will be waiting to hear good news from you!

techno,  December 3, 2009 10:46 AM

In the last 1/2 hour Sarah has risen from 46.51% to 49.46% which is unbelievable and Huck has fallen from 26.39% to 24.87% for a turnaround of 4 1/2% in 30 minutes with an additional 1101 responses. That is not supposed to happen. This not good for Huck.

Louisiana Redneck,  December 3, 2009 10:47 AM

She just broke 50% on this poll, techno.

techno,  December 3, 2009 10:52 AM

And she was at around 40-41% late last night for quite awhile. Something must have happened in the past hour.

Go to Hot Air and you will find out what.

I think C-Span usually covers this so we may get to see it.

bitterclinger,  December 3, 2009 11:19 AM

Techno, I sent the cancelled flight story to Beck, Drudge and Breitbart, Ace, WeaselZippers and Don Surber.  I don't think Rush would use it until he has a Drudge or Bretibart attribution.

If this waa single incident I might, just might think twice about him, but it isn't, this is a pattern with him.
Plus his record as Governor is another reason I would never give him an ounce of support.

Whitney,  December 3, 2009 12:05 PM

Tim Pawlenty?

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 12:15 PM

If Governor Palin always observed Reagan's 11th commandment, she would never have stepped into the NY23 after the GOP establishment, and specifically Newt Gingrich, endorsed Scossi.

If Governor Palin always observed Reagan's 11th commandment, she never would have questioned Lindsey Graham a few weeks ago with his recent stance on Cap&Tax.  I believe she told Conservatives to send him a message, but she liked Lindsey as a person.

This mantra of always backing off and being afraid of hurting feelings doesn't get us anywhere.  Governor Palin sets herself apart because she is unique, she will speak up, she will not sit down, she will go rogue when necessary.

I bet if anyone asked her about Huckabee's decision for clemency, and Huck's repeated lapses in judgment regarding similar cases, she would be honest and not give him cover.

Of course Huck is not the enemy.  Neither is Mittens, Pawlenty, and Newt, but they are her competition and she will take them out with logic, common sense, and a smile.

terri,  December 3, 2009 12:27 PM

Lipstick,
Having grown up and still living in a spot in the country, where snow at times is still on the ground in may, it's pretty cool to be reminded that some people never get to experience it.
Your liitle guy reminds me of my niece when she came to visit the first time.
It was Christmastime and of course there was lots of snow. To say she was thrilled was putting it mildly.
We went sledding (of course we always have extra snowpants and mittens/hats around), played in the snow, made snowmen and of course I had her taste the snow (non yellow of course).
That was a very fun day, and the best part was, of course the hot chocolate with marshmellows..:-)

BetseyRoss,  December 3, 2009 12:43 PM

Sarah would have been victorious over Huckabee anyway.  She will be victorious over any of her opponents.  Huckabee's sins are his own and he must pay the price.  It is a self inflicted wound.  Same with Romney.  His Romney care was also a self inflicted wound.  Sarah had nothing to do with that either.  If all her opponents stuck with the Constitution in the first place they wouldn't be having any problems.  Especially the Dems and Obama.
It amazes me that non of her opponents can see that sticking with the law of the land is always the best policy.  Every one of them cannot resist trying to outsmart the Founding Fathers.  It just doesn't work.  Sarah has the winning hand on this.  It's always been there, yet they cannot see.

Nancy,  December 3, 2009 12:44 PM

That's the one!:)

Nancy,  December 3, 2009 12:51 PM

There are so many North Stars in the conservative movement!
What about Newt?
I need to reconsider my first thought of who Glenn Beck might have been talking about.

juju,  December 3, 2009 12:59 PM

Geezzz...I immediately thought of Sarah what with the North Star on the Ak. flag.

toughluck,  December 3, 2009 1:00 PM

My view on pardon is this: Give Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar and God what belongs to God.

The Arkansas courts had declared Clemmons a killer and worthty of death. Give them him his charred electrocuted body. If Huckabee as a pastor and servant of God decides that his soul is worth saving, then he should have given him forgiveness (as a pastor) in his jail cell and prayed that his soul would get admitted to heaven.

But to the electric chair he should have gone regardless. As governor he had no business pardoning him over the objections of his administration, lacking other proof (like a bungled trial) that the conviction was unfair.

What happened, and where Huckabee was confused, was in a clear breach of the separation church and state.

Given Sarah's administrative record as Governor (signing into law bill that she clearly dissaproved because of her religious beliefs but that where in line with the laws and constitution of Alaska) I dont think she would make the same mistake, not would let her strong faith distract her administration.

This is the sentiment I fear would come to the surface.

From WSU over at race42012.com:

"I agree that I'm not in favor of needlessly bashing our side--but when there is someone who we really don't want being a rep. for the party, we have to TAKE THEM OUT. (bold print mine)."

MY COMMENT:

Who gives WSU or any member of the GOP to presumptuously talk for all members that they don't want Huck as a rep.? That's up to primary voters to determine if he runs. And that the idea that Huck has to be taken out again could be translated to mean "we" have to take Huck's supporters out as well.

Do we really want to go that far and risk causing Huck's voters to become disaffected, to cause a breach in the party and then run the further risk they will embrace the more empathetic Obama?

I am glad the american spirit is stilla laive and w have not become sheep. good for that guy and the guy from Texas. also good for the crew for refusing to fly the plane.

What the heck is wrong with the TSA?
Passengers refuse to follow the directions of the stewardess and they are allowed back on the plane?  i am glad the flight got cancelled and the airline lost money. May be they will rethink their actions next time.

techno,  December 3, 2009 1:14 PM

I have often said that when you're good it also pays to be lucky.

One of the best decisions that Sarah Palin ever made in her life, besides the resignation, is the decision to release Going Rogue on November 17th rather than next spring.

Think about it: would Sarah Palin be in a position right now to potentially swallow up at least 1/4 to 1/2 of Huck's support as a result of Huck's possible demise if she were not on the Going Rogue tour right now that is absolutely enthralling the base and independent conservatives (see PPP blog on Sarah's favorables with conservative independents and conservative Republicans)? I would submit she would probably be still back in Alaska writing her book.

I know Sarah doesn't believe in coincidences but Sarah will be in Fayetteville, Arkansas today. Could things have worked out more perfectly for Sarah?

yogi41,  December 3, 2009 1:15 PM

Hefmier,  December 3, 2009 1:53 PM

I saw that a couple of days ago. He is great.  IMHO, if Sarah got the GOP nomination in 2012, and she had a list of VP Candidates that included people of color, I would approve of him.  I would also approve of Charles Lollar and Condaleeza Rice.

Sapwolf,  December 3, 2009 2:09 PM

No she wouldn't, and we shouldn't.

Doug Brady,  December 3, 2009 2:19 PM

Huckster's right. They do have "very different political directions".  Her direction is up, his direction is down.

They have posted over there  a photo from the Hong Kong speech.  She looks very nice.  Soul of America.

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 2:22 PM

Huck may just be worse than Clinton with this quote.  He can't be honest about anything.

Save everyone the political dance.  Admit you are a RINO, like big government, are soft on crime, will reward illegal aliens with college tuition, are running in 2012, and now feel utterly threatened by Palin's statue and momentum after your bone-headed decisions regarding clemency.

CharterOakie,  December 3, 2009 2:25 PM

My oh my, Santa has got one cute little helper...

Now what were you saying about Beck and the North Star??

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 2:26 PM

I believe HarperCollins made the decision to release the book early.  After reading the draft, they realized the potential of a blockbuster and knew it would sell; therefore moved up the release date to market during the holiday season.

I agree with you that Governor Palin hit the jackpot appearing in AK on her book tour the week that Huck's Presidential future hit the fan.  That was very, very fortunate.

techno,  December 3, 2009 2:32 PM

But Sarah had to write the book early so that it could be released early and for the kind of bucks were talking about I can't believe that Sarah didn't have veto power over the decision.

Sapwolf,  December 3, 2009 2:33 PM

Another brilliant decision in moving up the book release.  Outstanding political move and provided a great read to the country.

Here is real 'liberal' gem today that proves how deranged some of the Left can be:

To prove that Tiger Woods is not a hypocrite:

"Let me say this about Tiger on his behalf. He has never held himself up as one of these pro-marriage, right-wing kind of guys who is anti-gay."

Joy Behar

MY COMMENT:

So extrapolating from the comment Joy that means it's perfectly acceptable or kosher for a liberal or moderate who is pro-gay rights to whore around on one's spouse anytime he/she feels like it.

I wonder if Michelle Obama or Mrs. Biden feels the same way.

sandrainoregon,  December 3, 2009 3:09 PM

This is very difficult to believe.  I would suspect some kind of a hoax.  What is "Muslim...in full attire"?  If they were trying to hijack the plane, they would have been more descrete.  Also, there is always a comment in the safety speech that says the plane's personnel have authority to stop behavior that is restricted (i.e., cell phone use).

sandrainoregon,  December 3, 2009 3:11 PM

"Islamization of the USA," are you serious?  How would pointing out any holiday cause us to have a religion of the USA?

riley4palin,  December 3, 2009 3:13 PM

Techno:

Here's my take.  HarperCollins made an early leak to the press that her book would be released in March 2010 to keep curiosity high and perhaps play the press a little bit.  I don't believe any decision was made without Governor Palin's approval.

During discussions of book content, I am sure HP let it be known that to make it more marketable, she would have to mention names, and discuss the behind the scenes campaign decisions, so that the press would find interest in promoting it.  I also bet HP let it be known that if she could finish the book early, it was in her/HP's best interest for maximum impact during the holiday selling season.

I am sure Governor Palin wanted this book to be her words, wanted to tell her story, her personal life , etc. and therefore, the VP campaign and names didn't get mentioned into the latter part of the book.  This was her brand and image, and a re-introduction to the American people. HP needed to honor that, and she still had final approval of book content and release date.  But I can tell you from a marketing perspective, it was a joint effort.

Let's review her strategy once she resigned and finished the book earlier than expected (or was that planned all along????). She comes out of hiding (but not really), starts up on Facebook, releases opinion articles, changes the Health Care debate by "death panels", questions Obama's policies frequently on Facebook, and keeps herself current to peek curiosity. Her personal efforts to keep herself in the public eye, yet hidden, prior to the book release have been marketed to perfection.

Result:  #1 Best Seller and printing increased to 2.8M and counting.

HP should be very pleased. Not that there was any doubt, but Governor Palin was worth every penny.

Governor Palin should also be very pleased because she was able to tell her story (with no LSM filter).

Mission accomplished.

Now on to the more serious policy book to be released in 2010.  :)

jimr3,  December 3, 2009 3:20 PM

<span>Kathryn Jean Lopez at NRO responds to Daniel Foster’s snarky post.<span>  </span>
"To be fair, I've read some pretty relevant and insightful things on Governor Palin's Facebook page. And she does drop some favorite intellectuals' names in her Going Rogue that do, in fact, rival Clinton's there.
I doubt in either case it fully reflects the pol's influences."
</span>

juju,  December 3, 2009 3:21 PM

I am wondering about this and maybe someone knows the answer.  How is the amount on a book release like Sarah's figured.  Does the publisher offer a certain amount up front and is that amount attached to a certain number of books being sold?  With Sarah since there has been additional printings does that mean she gets more money they the original amount??  I have no idea how book deals go...do you???

techno,  December 3, 2009 3:42 PM

Over at race42012.com they are trying to bring up the reason Sarah won't run in 2012, believe or not, is Troopergate. Somehow, they think Sarah has a dark secret to hide. That begs the question: are Alaskans that stupid that they could not have uncovered it by now, especially with the help of opposition researchers, and used it against Sarah when she was in office to bring her down?

Sometimes I think even folks on our side get a little weird too.

narciso,  December 3, 2009 3:48 PM

I think Palin was right when she told O'Reilly that the Katie Couric question came from the malicious assumption that the Governor didn't read at all.
I use Clinton's fairly pedestrian, fairly safe list only to illustrate that we probably can't learn much about a politician's intellectual might by asking them to name-check their favorite books or authors.

The news keeps getting better on the 'endorsement' or 'recommendation' as Brigadier General (R) Anthony J. Tata gave a tremendous review of Going Rogue, "that this woman is far more qualified to be president of the United States the current occupant of the White House...(and)Sarah Palin could be the next president of the United States."

Does Sarah Palin ever have a bad week, let alone even a bad day?

It's simple really. If you open yourself up to GOD's inspiration, you will be guided. Sarah does that with a faithful heart and the proof is in the pudding - or as I prefer - puddin'.

Does anyone have a link to the new anti-Kill Grandma ad that features the pix of the 14 senators who will decide our fate?  I've scoured YouTube and can't find it.  I want to send it as an attachment to my two senators (Warner and Webb), whose pix are featured prominently in that ad.  We already have Va. moms (on As A Mom.com) calling their offices to talk about recall petitions.  I think that ad would jar them into reality in case they haven't seen it.

When HarperCollins announced the March release date, Sarah was still the Governor.  Had she stayed Governor, March was probably the earliest realistic date for her.

BUT, after she decided to step down, she had new found time on her hands and smartly released it in time for the holidays!!

She is going to thank them for all tha free publicity, compliment them on their mastery of the art of fiction ("..... makin' things UP!") and burn them with her sincere large warm smile.....

Our Lady Sarah has a rapier-sharp wit and will wield it to telling and mortal effect.....

I expect her to have a whaleboat of fun.....      ;-)
