Dear Nancy,

Thank you so much for your several supplementary comments yesterday on Julie's thread!!  In some ways, these were my favorites!!

You brought those deathless moments with the Governor and with her family alive for all of us.

God bless!

Dear Santa,
Will you please bring me some of that global warming that Algore invented for Christmas? The wind chill here in Illinois is -7 this morning. Will you also bring me the hat that Sarah is wearing in my avatar? Thank you.

Good morning everyone!

Bean Counter,  December 10, 2009 8:17 AM

And a drug clouded, but still good, morning to everyone. I'm sleeping between 9 and 10 hrs. a night, which is nothing short of a miracle, as sleep was a precious commodity in my life with all the drama of the prior months. I'm working about half a day now and only taking the drugs when I need them, so everything appears to be coming along fine. Unfortunately, I fear that I may have forever lost the chance to pose for Playboy, but hey, you can't win 'em all.

Still wallowing in all the joy of the book signings and the policy smackdowns. More and more media and pundit pinheads are taking notice and shutting up. Couldn't ask for a better Christmas gift than that.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 8:19 AM

Mia, I am still feeling the glow and the glory of our Raiders' victory over the Steelers last Sunday!!  One cannot tell from one or two games, but there seems to be something special about Bruce Gradkowski.  Could he be Kenny Stabler Redux?!?

God bless,

Hey ladydawnelle,

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?  hahahaha

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 8:52 AM

I still cherish the moment when Sarah, in her RNC speech last year, took direct aim at Michelle O, "They love their country, and they are always proud of America"!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 8:53 AM

Anyone and everyone with "ears to hear," both in the convention hall and across America, caught the reference immediately!!

Kjanlady,  December 10, 2009 9:18 AM

Good morning fellow barbarians.  It's a bright and sunny day day here in Southern Louisiana although cold....packed away my shorts again from Tuesday's Global Warming Day (temp in the 70's).  Temp here today supposed to climb to lower 50's....brr.

Sarah...we know that you read C4P because you were well aware of who the troublemakers are....I won't post any names...you know who they are.  Has Todd recovered yet for the attack perpetrated by that crazy lady...you know who I mean.

The invitation to visit us here in South Louisiana still stands and if you bring the moose or caribou....I'll make the gumbo.  Just one more teenie weenie fact to entice you to Louisiana just in case the food and fun isn't enough.....Louisiana is called the Sportsman's Paradise......it's on our license plates......you'll find thousands of sympatico hunters and if you come at the right time, we can arrange an alligator hunt by air boat in the bayous.  Need a new purse or some new killer heels?   I'll even cook the sucker up....ever had alligator sauce picante? ........Just a suggestion.

Here's wishing you, your wonderful family, and all your millions of supporters and readers an exciting, happy and safe day.  Last stops of the current tour in the lower 48......I know you'll do us proud.

Lipstick,

I too love to read sentences over and over again, when I am reading a great and beautuful and powerful work of literature.  I loved savoring sentences in Sarah's book, reading them repeatedly, contemplating them, reflecting upon them, taking delight in both the SENSE and the SOUND, even reading some of them aloud to myself...turning them over in my mind and on my lips!!!

This book is an American Treasure; its author is an American Treasure!!

cookboy,  December 10, 2009 9:30 AM

The left seems to be coming apart nicely. While they are doing a good job of stepping in their own and flailing, Sarah is certainly tugging a few threads to get those seams splitting even more rapidly. It is the best theatre there is!

Rasmussen daily tracking poll:

-12 (28-40) strongly approve-strongly disapprove

"With just one exception in each direction, the number who STRONGLY APPROVE has stayed between 38% and 41% every day for a month."

-7 (46-53) approval-disapproval

Obama has lost 3 points in his approval in the last 72 hours.

Hmm, what's wrong with some of us ladies out there. Palin envy?

Kjanlady,  December 10, 2009 9:56 AM

Lipstick, wouldn't it be great to see Sarah touring the oil rigs and refineries located all along out two state's coasts and giving speeches in support of Drill, Baby, Drill!!!!!!! The roughnecks would love her and she would enjoy it too.  The liberals and faux environmentilists would piss in their pants.   Maybe, we should start a South Texas and South Louisiana book tour petition..........it could work.  Also, meet some of the survivors of the last two years of hurricanes in both areas...you know who I mean.....the ones who get to work and rebuild and don't whine or wait for handouts from the government.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 9:57 AM

Dear Kjanlady,

If I do not get the audio book for Christmas, I shall buy it for myself.  I LOVE the sound of Sarah's voice; I have loved it since Sarah Palin Day last year in Dayton, Ohio, when that voice lifted me up from gloom and quasi-despair to hope for America!!  I cannot understand how "liberals" feel revulsion at the sound of her voice.  I love it.  Well, actually, I can understand very well. These vicious people loathe everything about her, so, of course, they would hate even her lovely voice.  Anyway, LOVE IS STRONGER THAN HATRED, AND OVERCOMETH IT.  Sarah's love for America, and our love for her and for our nation, will win and gain the palm and garland of victory!!

Thanks for the recommendation, and God bless!!

i wish you would answer that for me, Ms. Whitney

riley4palin,  December 10, 2009 10:07 AM

Hmmmm......3 points in 72 hours?  I'm sure this doesn't have anything to do with Governor Palin slamming AlGore's LOCKBOX shut once and for all about his bogus claims and putting Bamster on the defense about attending Copenhagen.

Good thing Obama gave another "riveting" 42 minute speech after receiving his Nobel Peace Prize this AM and couldn't resist more zings at the previous Administration.  That shoud soften the blow.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 10:08 AM

...and we can NEVER underestimate the power of a VOICE..Sir Winston Churchill's fearless, lion-like, intrepid, voice, his "we shall never surrender," borne on the ethereal wings of the radio waves to all his countrymen, led Britain to victory.  It was that great voice and spirit, that indomitable soul, more even than the heroic, dashing young airmen of the RAF, who saved Britain and the West!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 10, 2009 10:09 AM

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:15 AM

Laura Ingraham just praised Sarah Palin; shocking. She said Sarah Palin should have been the most fascinating person of 2009 for single-handedly derailing the Health Care debate with her "death panel" post. Plus, her Facebook postings are having an impact on the general debate of the nation and that trumps Michelle's arms.

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:16 AM

Oh, and Sarah Palin is going to be on Laura's show today in the 3rd hour. NOT for an interview, but to help her launch the auction of her Going Rogue jacket.

Kjanlady,  December 10, 2009 10:16 AM

CNN has an interesting poll about Oblamo and the Nobel Peace Prize (NPP)

Has Oblamo accomplished enough to be awarded the NPP?

Accomplished Enough...........Dec 19%......Oct 32%
NOT Accomplished Enough.....Dec 80%......Oct 67%
No Opinion   1%......Both polls

Will Oblamo eventually deserve the NPP? (Dec 2009)

Accomplished Enough.......................................19%
Not Accomplished enough but likely will...............35%
Not Accomplished enough & likely won't...............43%
No opinion........................................................3%

FYI....Have changed the one's name to OBLAMO because of his tiresome tendency to blame all of his troubles on the Bush Administration....I will change this when he takes responsibility for his own actions and quits trying to blame Bush.....probably when he has his 85th birthday.

BeeFL,  December 10, 2009 10:17 AM

Congressional appropriators agreed Tuesday night to give civilian federal employees a 2 percent pay increase -- which includes a locality pay increase President Obama didn't want.

Government workers will get a 1.5 percent nationwide increase in base pay and a 0.5 percent average increase in locality pay. The final agreement goes against the wishes of Obama, who called for a flat 2 percent jump and no locality increase.
WHAT???

Whitney,  December 10, 2009 10:18 AM

Michelle's arms are just her misinterpretation of the 2nd amendment. She thought it was the right to bare arms, not the right to bear arms.

What is striking is that the establishment GOP types in Congress who are supposed to represent the opposition stayed remarkably silent (until yesterday) on Obama's Copenhagen visit and that coincidentally after Palin's WAPO op-ed and her rebuttal to Al Gore that the GOP Congressmen have now announced they will be going to Copenhagen to offer a public opposition to Obama's agenda to legitimize climate change and to impose cap and trade on America.

Sarah doesn't believe in coincidences; neither do I.

Sarah resonates. Sarah leads.

riley4palin,  December 10, 2009 10:39 AM

Dan C,  December 10, 2009 10:39 AM

riley4palin,  December 10, 2009 10:41 AM

Governor Palin keeps giving and giving and giving because she is a kind-hearted soul who always thinks of others before herself.

Obama keeps taking and taking and taking.

Whitney,  December 10, 2009 10:43 AM

Thank you for sharing the rules of citizenship, Lipstick! I'll keep those in mind if I make the move. I'll practice sloooooowinng down my speech so that ya'll can understand me down there. I'm all about Texas-type and TexMex food, so that won't be too much of adjustment. I would be living in the dry part of the state so I'd be looking forward to running with little humidity. It doesn't get as hot as Texas in Illinois, but our summers are really humid.

techno,  December 10, 2009 10:50 AM

I wanted to show a more recent poll and make note of a Lefty poll that normally does not favor Palin.

For CNN to show Palin at roughly 50/50 with independents, IMHO before the CNN poll came out a few days ago, was akin to Obama thanking Dick Cheney for his constructive criticism of the Obama administration.

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:50 AM

Gelston,

Ann Coulter has a theory about why most women vote for the Democratic Party. At first, I was insulted by it, but the more I watch the female voting trend, the more I have to give Ann kudos for being so observant. She says that as we have more and more women becoming single moms, they become more reliant on government to take care of them and help them out. In essence, the government has become the "caretaker/father/husband" in their lives. Of course, that helps explain a portion of the female voting bloc, and then there's the pro-abortion crowd who just refuse to support someone who's against abortion because they've been brainwashed into believing this will take their "rights" away.  Bottom line: women (not all, obviously), but the majority of female tend to look towards government for taking care of them. That's why Democrats own this demographic - for now.

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:51 AM

Don't know. I think 2010 is going to be spent campaigning, but maybe she'll squeeze in some more book signings.

Hal,  December 10, 2009 10:53 AM

PPP(D) poll out. Techno et al, I'll leave it to you for analysis. It's not as good as I expected and they continue to prop up Huck and Romney against Obama.

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_National_1210.pdf

RINO-Hunter,  December 10, 2009 10:56 AM

NOOOOO!  Why couldn't it be the second hour?  They cut off the third hour of Laura Ingraham's show here (when I can even get reception) to go with the other Laura (that nasty Palin-hating bitch Laura Schlessinger).  There's another station that replays it at night, I'll have to listen then.

yogi41,  December 10, 2009 10:56 AM

Not bad. She comes within 6 points of Obama AND her favorability went up 2 points. Again, not too shabby for a PPP poll.

RINO-Hunter,  December 10, 2009 11:01 AM

Rasmussen had her within 3 points of ObaMao last time.  They're a much more reliable poll than PPP.

Thanks Techno, thats easier than scanning the whole doc for the cross tabs. As I said above, PPP(D) continue to prop up Huck and Romney against Obama. It's good Palin continues to blow them away among conservatives and GOP. Once again, she is still way down w/ women. I'm surprised she's also down w/ men. One other thing I noticed in scanning the doc was that Palin has highest F/UFs w/ Hispanics which is good.

BTW, O/T, Palin coming up next segment w/ Laura I.

Those numbers show she is still the one who can garner the nomination. She's outpolling every contender with the GOP and conservatives.

Texans talk too fast.  Try a South Carolinian drawl.  You did foget the Blue Bonnets and the fact that it is illegal to cut them when in bloom.  So if they are in your yard you have to cut around them.  Remeber that from being stationed at FT Hood for 3 1/2 years and yes I met all citizenship standards.  Just with my South Carolina drawl (I now live in Georgia) I exceeded the slow down the talking part.

I think that she's got some work to do in AK.

I hate to admit this, but last night I ventured over to the Immoral Minority.  They have pictures of the "building" that Sarah and Todd have been building.  You know the one that Sarah said prevented Todd from being with her on the first leg of her journey because of the roof.

Well, by George, it is a HUGE new house!!  It's outside structure looks complete, so I'm guessing out lady Sarah has some boxes to be packing and a new house to be settling into.

Early reports had said this building was a "large warehouse" that was going to have offices and maybe and airplane hanger.  BUT, though this building is warehouse sized, it is clearly a huge new beautiful home, now that it has taken shape.

Looks like she's finally gonna have room for this ever-growing family of hers!  And some office space.  And maybe a space to do interviews in, besides her living room!

<span><span>Laura Ingraham’s Auction to Benefit Our Military</span>Share Today at 11:19amIt’s a privilege to participate in the auction Laura Ingraham is organizing to help our men and women in uniform. Laura asked if I would donate the jacket I wore on the cover of my book, “Going Rogue.” I can’t think of a better cause, and it’s especially fitting because the book is dedicated to patriots and in particular to our women and men in uniform.

All the proceeds from the auction go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and The Fisher House (please click the links for more information about these wonderful organizations).

Our military and their families sacrifice so much to protect us. That sacrifice was so evident at our visit to the Walter Reed Hospital on Sunday. It was deeply moving and inspirational to hear our recovering troops’ stories and to see their patriotism reflected so vividly in their willingness to serve a cause greater than themselves.

Please join Laura in helping these brave and selfless Americans and their families. You can participate in the auction by visiting Laura’s website here

yogi41,

in Ann Coulters' book "Guilty", she spends a good portion discussing single moms and the disaster that this is (the single most accurate predictor of males in prison - being a product of a single mom)
- sorry any single moms, it's the facts

So what an astute observation by Ann, a whole segment of our society is dependent on the government, and the "polls" say (blah blah blah).

Can you actually believe what we have in Sarah ?

Bill in Baltimore,  December 10, 2009 11:36 AM

You know, I don't see much interaction in these comments with the contributors. I know Tommy Report chimes in on the polls and stuff, but it's like we're all alone in backyard talking and never get to see the cooks.

btw, a number of people reported that e-mails don't work, is it working for anyone ?

JS-Kit has fixed the original bug when we were in "Live mode" but when entering a reply you'd get bumped when another reply came it.
- this was fixed about the time that e-mails stopped working (close to 2 weeks ago).

The use of "oldest" first is not really a supported feature of JK-Kit Echo, it was a quirk in the system that it actually worked.

And if you remember, last Saturday night on the FairFax thread, there were like 600+ comments and it became a head-swirling activity to try and keep up, refreshing all the time.

Back when we started on Live-blogging, I actually liked it better, the comments just "roll in"
- and the number of comments on a page is very big, according to JS-kit

So with multiple threads going, you could open a window with each comments, stack them up neatly, and then just scan the comments as they roll in.

It's actually better than IM'ing / chat, because that's really crazy, but with the Live Comments, you "see the conversation".

Also, in regard to "oldest first" or "most recent first", we really don't have "intense debate", it's more "conversational", so "most recent first" isn't too bad.

And if you are having a conversation via Replies, you see that grow too (not sure if that is oldest first or not).

Overall, if I had to choose between the current system and the old one (sans trolls), I would choose the old one - - - it allowed you to "consume" all threads in one 'window' - e-mail.

The Fairfax Open Thread is a VERY small microcosm of what is to come.

And the mind has an amazing capactity to multi-task, but you can scroll through comments over and over and over without losing your mind.

That's my take.

What do you all think ?

Bill in Baltimore,  December 10, 2009 11:41 AM

^^^^ I would like to use live blogging, like I said, the comments just roll in.
- but what do you all think ? it would obviously have to be tested out and such

I could do my work and then on my 2nd monitor I could see Mia and the Sarc sisters goofin' on each other, all without having to refresh my screen !

defendAmerica,  December 10, 2009 11:44 AM

that was a really frustrating system because you'd start to reply to a comment, a new comment would roll in, and your reply would be lost and you'd have to start typing again and try to beat out the next comment.  That was WAY too frustrating.  I'd rather deal with refreshing screens.

When I'm at work, I should be working and not watching C4P.  When I'm at home, I have time to refresh screens.

COMMENTS ON THE POLL INCLUDING OBAMA VS THE GOP CONTENDERS:

1) Let's get this out of the way. Tim Pawlenty was polled in October and 7 weeks later his F/UF have stayed virtually the same. To show you how ridiculous his numbers are, among the GOP he is at 16/18 and conservatives 19/15. Simply, to now he has not gained any traction.

2) Let me point out some poll variables that I believe are significant:

   a) 53% of respondents were female; 47% male

This clearly biases the poll to folks who do not favor Palin as all polls have shown for months now.

   b) D: 39%  R: 34%  I: 27%

This poll does not take into account the increasingly growing number of independents and the declining number of registered Dems and GOP members recorded by Rasmussen and others. As you might now what has given Palin a boost recently IMHO is the number of independent conservatives who are moving her way.

3) Again Huck's overall F/UF are 35/35 with 30% not sure; he is touted as the frontrunner while Obama's F/UF are 49/47 because of his matchup against Obama. The is the 10th straight monthly poll that Huck has been touted as the frontrunner. You would think as any reasonable person would by now that Huck's F/UF would be way better than 35/35 and that the momentum of being in the lead would have resulted in a bandwagon effect to lower his 'not sure' numbers. By the way Huck's F went down by 1 point over last month.

4) Folks have speculated for the last few days if the Clemmons' incident might affect Huck's F/UF. PPP has tried to make the argument that it hasn't based on their assertion that Huck is only 1 point behind Obama in a head to head matchup but based on two key measurements, conservatives and among GOP members F Huck has fallen off: cons (66 to 59) and GOP (65 to 57); this is not good news for Huck in the GOP primaries.

5) This is a stat that does not compute for me: Huck is at 34/41 among indies and Obama is 46/47 and Obama is beating Huck among Hispanics by a 2 to 1 margin and Huck is within 1 point of Obama. Something is amiss here.

praying for you!... You sound like the rest is doing it's thing for you keep posting though.

techno,  December 10, 2009 12:55 PM

(continued)

6) Now to Romney: the average F for Mitt in the past 4 polls has been 32.25. He has not been above 34 F. If Mitt can tout this number as a sign he is a frontrunner he is a much better salesman that I am.

7) For the umpteenth month Mitt has polled poorly among conservatives (50) and the GOP (51) although he did make slight gains over November. In contrast Rasmussen always shows Mitt with 70+ F with these two groups. This is the most puzzling aspect of professional polling that I have ever seen over a long period of time between 2 pollsters. Obviously both of these folks can't be right, but what gives? Why these numbers are so important is that Mitt still trails Palin 23 points among conservatives and 22 points among the GOP according to PPP. In a GOP primary against Palin he cannot win if Palin consolidates most of the conservative support.

8) Mitt has dropped 12 points in female F in the last 60 days (39 to 27). I wonder why. And for the first time Mitt is below 30 in indy F (28). He has lost 10 points here in the last 60 days. And the greatest outrage or most remarkable F/UF uncovered by PPP is that among Hispanics Mitt's F/UF is now 11/37; again a 11F- last month it was 30/22. 2 months ago it was 34/26. Wow! What has Mitt done in the last little while for Hispanics to abandon liking him in droves? This is shocking. By the way Palin's F among Hispanics is 37.

9) And in spite of all this negative data Mitt is within 5 points of the Messiah (47 to 42) in a head to head matchup. Go figure!

I like this system and I don't mind at all that the contributors leave us to talk among ourselves. Not that I wouldn't welcome them, but we're more than chatty enough to carry on a conversation with ourselves without aid or prompting from the contributors.

I'm just grateful that they keep this site humming along and post factual articles on the front pages.

techno,  December 10, 2009 1:23 PM

10) And finally to Sarah Palin:

    a) PPP this month shows a 6 point gap between Obama and Palin (50-44) which is a 9 point improvement over 3 months ago. That I would consider significant. Do I think the gap is even narrower? You betcha! Rasmussen called it at 46-43 but he uses likely voters. But as they say the trend is your friend.

   b) PPP clearly shows a completely different result of Palin's overall F/UF (41/50) than several polls released since the start of the Going Rogue tour: Fox (49/37); CNN (46/46), Rasm (46/49); again this could have been caused by oversampling women or undersampling independents

  c) PPP has Palin dropping 7 points among conservatives and Huck also dropping 7 points with Mitt gaining 4 points. This leads me to believe that independent conservatives who are a growing constituency for Palin or maybe Huck were undersampled. There is no way on God's green earth that the two most conservative candidates in the 2012 primaries both lost 7 points among their "base" over the course of 3 weeks. No way!

  d) The indy F/UF of 39/54 unveiled by PPP is unbelievable given that CNN released a poll a few days earlier which showed it at about 50/50 for Palin and Fox showed it at 49/38. Look at Quin (37), Marist (41) and Ipsos (41) and CBS (43) indy F and then compare it to 46F and 47 UF for PPP. And then take the 39/54 number and compare it to Obama's 46/47 and your telling me the reality of the political lay of the land in America right now that Obama has a 14 point overall lead over Palin among independent voters. Of all the stats presented in the PPP I would say this is the most outrageous and clearly fabricated. And to boot PPP shows Palin losing 2 points overall with indies over November (poll taken before the Going Rogue tour began). So what PPP is claiming that Palin actually lost support among independent voters in the last 3 weeks. Boy, you have to have a lot of chutzpah or hubris to assert that against mounting evidence that it is not so.

e) Palin now leads Huck by 8 points in F among white voters and Mitt 12 points but among Hispanics Palin leads Mitt by 26 F and Huck by a 11 F. This is one stat that stands out like a sore thumb and one stat the RINO's want to bury, for part of their argument why Palin is not viable is that she does not play well to Hispanics. This info appears to dispute that.

techno,  December 10, 2009 1:28 PM

CONCLUSION:

1) Despite Clemmons, PPP is somehow finding numbers that support the theory that Huck hasn't taken a hit with the murder of 4 cops, but instead is rewarded by the events of the past week or so by closing the gap from 5 points to 1 point against Obama. That's like saying Tiger Woods is going to cash in even more with endorsements than before as a results of his transgressions. Only in the world of polling could anybody make such a wild assertion. It's like the respondents were saying "Here's to you Huck-a job well done".

they could use it as a guest house, since when people come out to work with her, there are very limited places for them to stay.  there's a best western down the street- but i'm guessing there is limited privacy there.

maybe she's gonna have todd gut it and make some office spaces in it.
