My Dear Friends in Sarah,

I have a few thoughts to share with you this morning about a passage in her book, p. 41. When I commented briefly last Saturday on ten other passages from her memoirs, I think I had in the back of my mind and intentions to say something about these words too. They are few in number but profound and rich, I think, in the reflections that they can inspire!

Sarah says, "Everything I ever needed to know, I learned on the basketball court. And to this day, my right ankle is a knobby and misshapen thing, a daily reminder of pushing through pain."

Think of it, my friends: verily a misshapen ankle, but a soul and spirit shaped to beauty, shaped to loveliness, shaped to courage, shaped to guts, shaped to fearlessness, shaped and formed and molded and fashioned to the great vocation for which the Good Lord was, even then, preparing her!!

I think meditations on the intimate union in man/woman between body and soul, and on the wonders of God's mysterious workings with us can inspire, and have inspired through the centuries, 10,000, 100,000, millions of thoughts.

Think if she had decided to sit out that State Championship game so many years ago and to rest her ankle. The ankle might now be sleek and shapely and perfect, but would she be the Sarah that we know and esteem and love today?

I think the Eternal Artist, God, sometimes traces seemingly ugly marks on our poor bodies so that He may trace radiant marks of an opposite nature on our souls. The ugly wound in my body can at the same time be the glory, even the eternal glory, of my deathless spirit! And at the depth of the mystery is that He accomplishes this with our freely-rendered cooperation: we have the inestimable privilege of cooperating with the Creator in the "creation," the formation, of our souls!! God has made us in "His image and likeness"!!

The word "character" derives from a Greek word meaning a mark engraved or impressed on something, like the impress or stamp on coins, seals, etc. The noun in turn derives from a verb that means to make sharp or pointed, to whet. The idea is that of making a mark with a sharp instrument.

All thoughout the long meandering and wandering and passage of these years, with every heroic, brave, noble, selfless choice Our Sarah made, Her Creator traced another mark of honor, of courage, of beauty on her precious soul. Now, at length, with all of the strokes of the Divine Artisan, we can see that He has carved, in the culmination and coalescing of His divine Art with her free will, His own image on her soul. This is why we all love her so much! She has a beautiful soul!! And this soul has turned the pretty girl of her early twenties into the profoundly lovely--lovely in the very deepest and most profound sense of the term--the profoundly lovely lady of her mid-forties.

Behold: Mighty and Deathless and High and Profound are the Works of the Lord!! But more wonderous and more miraculous than the formation even of constellations and galaxies is the making of a God-like soul!!!

To take this a bit further, just on the natural level, when a man or woman reaches maturity, he or she is ready to bring new life physically into this world. More profoundly, I think, when a person reaches a certain degree of maturity in heroism in the paths of the Lord's ways, he or she is ready to bring forth and inspire other heroic souls. Sarah really is a mom of moms!!!!

This, in my opinion, is what we are seeing in these very days and hours, as Our Sarah tours the country.

My fellow Catholics out there may recall the Easter Vigil ceremony, in which the new fire is lit; then, from this new fire, the Paschal candle is kindled; then, from the candle, the little tapers carried by the people are all lit. Light [...]

Heart is broken :(  Hubby's boss would not let him off today to help take care of my kids so that I could come down.  With my little ones being so little there is no way I could make them wait with me in the cold.

If Nancy, Cruela and Sapwolf meet somewhere for lunch, I might be able to make that if it is early and weather permits.

I even offered to have a second book signed for his boss but no cigar, ugh!  Some people are just bah humbug.

My take, however feeble, on how Governor Sarah Palin can answer the 'resignation question':

Q: Governor, why did you resign as governor?

A: After returning from the presidential campaign trail and the end of 2009, I FULLY EXPECTED to serve out my full term of office but after two or three months I began to slowly realize that I would have a difficult time doing so.

The opposition researchers who had been parachuted into Alaska by the Democrats had formed an alliance with Left-wing operatives and bloggers in Alaska for the sole purpose of mounting a vicious, insidious, and bogus campaign against me in an effort to marginalize me or to take me down politically by filing a series of frivolous ethical complaints that consumed much of our time in the executive branch and prevented the normal operations of government from proceeding for the benefit of Alaskans.

In addition to costing the state of Alaska millions of dollars and putting my administration in a bad light, due to prior legislation, I was essentially left out on a limb to combat these baseless allegations, as no state funds or state legal help would be forthcoming-there would be no cavalry riding to the rescue-to legally help me to fight these ridiculous charges, the costs eventually by July mounting to a half a million dollars which I had to pay out of my own pocket. As I was not a wealthy woman these costs threatened to send me and my family into personal bankruptcy, losing everything that we had worked for all our lives. Unless you are a masochist nobody seeks higher office to go broke. I was forced to to set up a private legal defense fund to help me to defray my legal burden, but even that was legally challenged by my political enemies. It became obvious that my political enemies would never stop filing frivolous complaints against me if I had served out my full term, which by the way have all been proven to be without merit, that their singular goal was to politically destroy me and my family financially and to paralyze state business that would eventually make me look whiny, incompetent or make it appear that I was neglecting my duties as governor. This was an orchestrated political witch hunt to the nth degree.

With my family I carefully weighed the options and came to this conclusion--let me offer an analogy--you are in no man's land and pinned down in a foxhole by constant enemy fire from all different directions. Although you have enough supplies to survive for a day and the firepower to keep your enemy at bay until tomorrow you realize that eventually you are going to run out of ammunition and food and water. You decide that you have to find a way to extricate yourself from the foxhole soon or your position will eventually be overrun and you will be dead. So you wait until the sun goes down, and then elude the enemy under the cover of darkness while it is celebrating what they think is your pending demise. But at no time while you are fleeing the enemies' guns to the safety of 'the high ground' do you think about not getting back to battlefield as soon as you can.

With your life intact you do not feel you have abandoned your post, deserted in the face of the enemy, or quit but instead you start to mentally prepare for your next opportunity to re-engage the enemy on the battlefield, even if CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE DICTATED that you must do so in a different venue or in a different arena.

And that is what I am doing now--taking the fight for Alaska and America to a different venue, to a new arena, to the lower 48. I am and will remain as politically active as I ever was, except now I am doing it as a private citizen rather than a person with a title after their name.

To those who say I was a quitter--Sean [...]

I know she will be asks she can also use historical references.  Andrew Jackson resigned not once, not twice but three times.  He had his reasons just like she has her reasons.  She said she would make an impact (a bigger one) after resigning.  My question is has she?  Anybody that says no needs to be drug tested.

Hey everybody,
Bestbud and I have found each other. We are inside the mall, now! Yeah!
My daughters and I got here at 6:00 and there were already 200 people lined up outside the mall! There has to be at least 500 people in line now.
The roads were not bad coming down, but it started snowing pretty good while we were outside.
We want to meet up with anybody that can do it.:)
Appreciate all of your prayers for driving safety!

LA TIMES- Shocker Poll: Palin-Obama gap melts to 1 point

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, look what the pollsters just brought in.
A pair of new surveys revealing that Democrat President Obama is still declining and has hit a new low in job approval among Americans just 56 weeks after they elected him with a decided margin.
And -- wait for it -- Republican Sarah Palin is successfully selling a whole lot more than books out there on the road. Even among those not lining up in 10-degree weather to catch a glimpse of pretty much the only political celebrity the GOP has these days.

-snip-

The new numbers seem to indicate that despite oft-cited predictions about the dire impact of Palin resigning her Alaska governor's job last July, a lot of people who don't live in Alaska (and, come to think of it, most people don't live in Alaska) don't seem to care. She wasn't their governor then and she still isn't.
Palin's low favorable poll point of 39% came right after the mid-summer resignation and she's been slowly climbing since, fueled by media attention fueled by eager reader response over her book contents, her tour and the spontaneous outpouring of support at her carefully-calculated bus stops along the way -- 31 appearances in 25 states, many of them politically crucial.
Imagine what critics would be saying now if Palin was neglecting her elected Juneau job to sell books in the lower 48 and talk to an elite club of Washington journalists, if there is such a thing.

Beehive,  December 8, 2009 9:42 AM

Well I can't believe it. Nancy has giggly girls! hahaha

techno,  December 8, 2009 9:43 AM

As often commented on Sunday polling (Monday results) is usually a good day for Obama. Monday's result may be typical of this aberration, especially with Gallup now showing Obama's F/UF at 47/46 and again Gallup uses ADULTS and Rasmussen uses LIKELY VOTERS, the latter supposedly should be showing lower numbers for Obama because it takes into account the 18-29 voters who tend not to be inclined to vote as opposed to let say the 65+ crowd.

Journeyman,  December 8, 2009 9:43 AM

Palin critics -- and, by golly, there still are some, believe it or not -- say that she's a polarizing political figure.

But here's the fascinating, little-noticed catch:
The very same polarization now holds true for Obama, the fresh fellow from the old Chicago Democratic machine who was supposed to bring hope and change to a nation tired of divisive politics and the harsh partisan tone of Washington.
Fully 83% of Democrats approve of him, but only 14% of Republicans do.
Among independents, who provided the crucial winning boost for the Democrat ticket in November 2008, Obama's support has melted to 42% today, in large part over immense spending and deficit concerns.

CruelaDev,  December 8, 2009 9:44 AM

Morning Barbarians for Sarah,

Actually, I've been up for about 4 hours but enjoyed some early morning reading.  But good news....Nielson rating not only has Going Rogue at #1 but the Audiobook is the #1 best selling audio book.  You go Sarah.

Think Plouffe will make his goal today.....fat chance.  Liberals either cannot or do not read.

Sarah only 1 point below the false messiah.....I cannot understand why his approval is still this high.  Think that the people answering these poll questions are fearful that the White House has their phones tapped and will send union thugs to their houses......sounds like a tactic they would use.

Talk about bad luck...The announcement that the US will lose its A+ credit rating if the federal debt is not reduced on the same day that Obama goes on tv yet again to push his idea to spend TARP money to create jobs instead of reduce the debt.  Creating jobs....wasn't that what his stimulus spending was supposed to do?  My take on this....stupid is as stupid does.

techno, what you wrote is 100% correct and great, this would be the answer for a youtube if anyone really wants to know.

In interviews, it has to be like 30 seconds, 3 bullet points, that's it. I think historical references dilute her reasons. Others can fight that battle.

Money Maven,  December 8, 2009 10:40 AM

Gov. Palin made it clear on Rush LImbaugh SHow that third Party was not a god idea.  Then she went on Lars Larson Show and hinted she is open to it. Now the blogs are pumping this idea that she supports a third party. Politico and Hot Air are running with it. How naive can we be to think we can beat Obama with a Third Party.

Just when the conservatives have momentum on their side, now liberals are rooting for us to have a third party.  Conservatives need to take the Republican Party back to its root of small government, low taxes aND FOCUS ON fiscal issues.  Let the Porgessives go and have their third party.

This Third Party Nonsense has got to stop.  And Gov. Palin needs to come out with a FAce Book posting and make her views clear on this.  We cannot be vague.  She should know by now that some conservative talkers are all about ratings even if it means pimping her for ratimngs.

C4P needs to get on this Palin supports Third Party Meme from going viral.

One pretty important correction though: Sarah did NOT set up the legal defense fund herself and has had, in fact, NOTHING to do with it. Which is one reason these ethics complaints against it are so wildly inappropriate. Kristan Cole set it up and is the trustee, and it was set up with the advice of East Coast lawyers who set up the Clintons' and others' funds.

Bill in Baltimore,  December 8, 2009 10:42 AM

Facebook post on no third party. End of story.

Sarah controls the message.

I definitely remember you falling squarely on the "she should not run for governor again" side of our spring debates, techno.

But I don't remember you ever saying she should actually resign early. I remember you saying that even you were surprised that her July 3 press conference was not just that she was not running again - but that she was, in fact, resigning.

Am I remembering that wrongly?

Whitney,  December 8, 2009 10:46 AM

This is just another example of what I like to call reverse research. They pull out their jump to conclusions mat, jump to their conclusion, then try to shove an often out-of-context quote into their story to prove their supposed conclusion. I work as a researcher, that's not how you do things, unless, of course, you are trying to prove global warming. Honest journalism ( I know that sounds like an oxy moron) and legitimate research have a lot similarities: you gather the data then show your results and conclusions. It seems that a lot journalists and scientists are,as I said, reverse researching.

hrh,  December 8, 2009 10:48 AM

Well, Laura sure hasn't done it lately. Sarah must realllllly like Laura for some reason, 'cause I don't think Laura has been particularly good to her.

Even after the recent interview and Sarah LITERALLY giving her the coat off her back for Laura's charity, The Fisher House, I recently checked Laura's new website, and she doesn't have Sarah or the charity offer ANYWHERE to be seen.

Laura has far too many beltway types on her show dissing Sarah undefended by Laura.

Perhaps Sarah sees Laura as a challenge to win over? And we know how she loves challenges ...

Money Maven,  December 8, 2009 10:50 AM

I agree with you in that I also cannot understand why BO's approval is still this high. It has virtually dead-ended for that last month or so and can't seem to go below 46%.

Copenhagen may do it though. And a flopped Oprah Christmas special ...

I was very heartened to see that despite the First Couple's desire to not show the traditional nativity scene in the East Room, somehow it got put up without their knowing (or something) and now it would be WAY bad publicity for them to have it taken down. So Christ remains in Christmas at the WH - at least in one room. :)

A comment by True_King at Hot Air:
"Her comments were very effective, in essence it is a warning call to the establishment and the triumvirate. They need to embrace the Constitution or else. This kind of warning has teeth and is necessary as a corrective mechanism."

Everything you say in your comment is true.

I don't know why the Guv keeps trying with her. I gave up on her awhile ago.

hrh,  December 8, 2009 11:00 AM

Glenn Beck will be happy. :)

And while I agree on the one hand about a third party, OTOH the Republican party is in a HUGE ID crisis right now. I disagree that Sarah has to do a FB this early. I think she needs to let the Repubs swing in the wind a bit, unmoored and unbalanced, and truly afraid of this third party idea taking hold.

You'd think the Rasmussen poll that more people would vote Tea Party then Repubs would do it. But maybe that ALONG with Sarah leaving the possibility open will together do it.

I don't know though, there are some HUGE egos in the GOP to include Santorum, who enthusiastically campaigned with Arlen Specter and lost his seat by 20 points, yet says SARAH has some 'splainin' to do! Oy veh!

I think she'll keep the possibility alive through her tour - and through her speech at the Tea Party Convention if that is truly happening.

The Repubs definitely need soulsearching, and if the Tea Party threat gets 'em to do it, so be it.

The Tea Party's ethos: Fiscal Responsibility Limited Government Free Markets

is the Repub platform. But they've forgotten it. The Repubs need to seriously and practically embrace that again, Sarah and the Tea Party will push them there.

At least I hope so.

AmeriCuda,  December 8, 2009 11:04 AM

She's brilliant to keep tossing a little third-party chum into the water. Why would she give up all her leverage by condemning it outright? This is a warning shot across the GOP bow that they need to get their act together unless they want a war on their hands. It's all part of her plan to reclaim the party for Reagan conservatism, and it'll work.

Occasionally, I would express a hope that Palin 'would see the light' but honestly I never really thought she would take the plunge in July 2009. I thought she would write her book in the fall (legislature not in session) and then announce in January 2010 that she would not be seeking re-election and would be stepping down in April (or May) to promote Going Rogue in the spring (as originally scheduled).

That she 'jumped the gun' was even more than I could have hoped for. Sarah may be a conservative but she is not an orthodox conservative. She saw the lay of the land and concluded what she concluded.

But all along I knew if Sarah did not have the Governor's job any longer to consume her time, attention and energies she could then devote her full attention to 'national affairs (the analogy of serving two masters) and resurrect her poll numbers that plummeted due to the resignation. Yes, it was a calculated risk to resign early, but look at what Sarah now has before her: the opportunity and necessary time to build a campaign infrastructure and organization, staffed with the right kind of people and the freedom to now travel the lower 48 in 2010 on the attack against Obama rather than having to defend her current job, as she has none right now.

Yes, you may say Sarah took a big risk that she would be downgraded in stature without a title after her name but I was always in the minority among the C4P readers on this subject and I have been proven mostly correct: the Palin supporters in the lower 48 couldn't give a rip about the resignation or that she no longer has a title; to them she was needed more in the lower 48 than in Alaska. And you know the quote from the Bible (paraphrased)-that a prophet is not as recognized in his/her home bailiwick as away from home. I would not hesitate to say that Sarah is loved more by the lower 48 than she is in Alaska. But hrh, don't get me wrong-only superstars can pull off without a title what Sarah has done. If Sarah were not a superstar she would have soon fallen into obscurity IMHO.

riley4palin,  December 8, 2009 11:14 AM

HRH:

I am not a big fan of Laura Ingraham.  I agree with everything in your post.  I will say that Governor Palin is a politician first and foremost and all politics are being able to sell yourself and your ideas; even to the highest skeptics.  I believe the Governor is finding this challenge to win over Ingraham to be interesting, amusing, and quite fun.

She will eventually win her over though.

riley4palin,  December 8, 2009 11:20 AM

Bee:

The Governor is not a quitter, therefore she will continue to try to Win over Friends and Influence People.

Gridiron Dinner with Washington libs....Laura Ingraham....who's next?

P.S.  Don't forget she also gave a "shout out" to Jonah Goldberg in her book as well.  Remember that Goldberg was one of those intellectuals who offered her some advice quite some time ago and many people never forgave him for that.  I thought that was very telling for her to acknowledge him in the book.

Okay, I thought about it.  Nope, don't have it in me.

techno,  December 8, 2009 11:26 AM

I was referring to the Obama lawyer in Alaska who tried to create the impression that the establishment of the legal defense fund was somehow illegal. Yes you are right about the LDF, that Palin had nothing to do with it. Most of my argument was geared to the strategy of presentation of a response rather than to factual nuance. I assumed that if Sarah ever read my piece (which I don't expect her to ever do by the way) that she would correct any inaccuracies of that sort. But the gist of my proposal to how the resignation question should be answered remains sound: focus on political enemies, personal bankruptcy, changing circumstances dictating a different venue or arena, the concept of the foxhole and that leaving a foxhole doesn't mean you are a quitter.

PEC,  December 8, 2009 11:32 AM

Disagree Bill.  Sarah isn't going 3rd party but her keeping it out there gives her power.  LOTS of POWER.  Think about it.  Does the GOP want Sarah to split off?  Even if it is only 25% of the GOP to follow her.  HEck even if it is only 10% the GOP is dead without her.  Don't you think when she talks this the establishment doesn't get on the phone and call asking what do you want?  This is a power play.  BIG TIME.  Think about it.  At any moment she could tall the GOP that either they shut down the Repub pundits that trash her or she is going 3rd party.  What do you think Steele will do?  He will be on the phone telling these talking heads to STFU.

PEC,  December 8, 2009 11:34 AM

But the Repubs are NOT getting the message.

Hold the threat out there until we see concrete actions taken that they are getting the message.

Sarah's got great timing.

She'll know when it's the right time.

It's not now.

If you listened to Rush yesterday, he's stunned that the Repub strategy is NOT to stop the healthcare, it's just to AMEND it. And Jud Gregg on Greta last night reiterated that.

Clearly, the Repubs need the threat to get stronger before they'll believe it enough to react and change their ways ...

hrh,  December 8, 2009 11:48 AM

Dan C,  December 8, 2009 11:49 AM

Dan C,  December 8, 2009 11:49 AM

And gallup has him at 47% now which isnt even likely voters!

Dan C,  December 8, 2009 11:52 AM

Chris CLILOSER and LOSERpundit are both a joke. Sarah wants to bring the GOP back to actual conservatism which she will do. These comments are made to tell the GOP "shape up, or ship out."

It is obvious to people with brains like us at C4P, but to others, not so much.

Dan C,  December 8, 2009 11:54 AM

you are right PEC. She could destroy the GOP literally anytime she wanted to. She tells the tea party people "hey im starting a common sense conservative party, whos with me?" If even a fraction join her (and it would be more then that) the GOP goes the way of the whigs.

But she will not do that. She will save the GOP from within.

jimr3,  December 8, 2009 12:00 PM

Ed Morrissey @ Hot Air has a good post up on the interview Sarah did with Lars Larson last friday and the imaginary theory that she is considering a "third party run".
Morrissey in part:
"I see this as less of a story than it seems. It helps to remember that Palin made her political bones as a reformer, an outsider to her state’s GOP. In fact, Palin scored her initial statewide success by exposing corrupt practices within her own party. Being an outsider is part of her DNA, and part of her appeal within the party.
It’s also not terribly unusual for any reformers to talk about the potential of running outside of the establishment. Ron Paul’s supporters practically formed their own third party without Paul himself in the last election cycle, and still remain a potent political force. They overlap on some of what Palin mentions in this interview, with the obvious exception of military/foreign policy.
The GOP will have to return to its “common sense, free market principles” if it wants to win in 2010. In fact, they’ll need to focus almost exclusively on those in order to win a wide, governing mandate in the midterms. All Palin is doing is reminding the GOP that they can’t take generic unhappiness with the current Congress and administration for granted and just offer business as usual — and that’s helpful indeed."
<span>You can read the rest <span>here</span>: </span>

riley4palin,  December 8, 2009 12:05 PM

Why is Politico and HotAir so concerned about Palin's thoughts about 3rd Party?

Shouldn't they be asking someone more interesting....like.....say.... Rick Santorum for example?

Right now 46/46 (the CNN poll) and 47/46 (GDTP) is sending the MSM into a delusional state. They feel they have given Palin too much credibility already. It's time again to try to diminish her credentials. Of course they fear the genie is already out of the bottle and that they will not be able to put it back in again.

As a tool to bleed support away from her by subtly accusing her of not being 'a serious' candidate or being divisive and thus a losing proposition. From the Rush interview:
<span><span>RUSH: "All right, independents, slash, third party. A lot of people — mistakenly, in my view — are looking at New York-23 as evidence that, see, a third party could actually do well. But that’s not a good example because there was no primary there. As you said, the party bosses chose Dede Scozzafava on the Republican side and a Democrat. Had there been a primary, New York-23 would not have been constituted as it was. So what are your thoughts now on the viability of a third party if the Republican Party can’t be brought around?"</span></span>
<span>SARAH: "You know, to be brutally honest, I think that it’s a bit naive when you talk about the pragmatism that has to be applied in America’s political system. And we are a two-party system. Ideally, sure, a third party or an independent party would be able to soar and thrive and put candidates forth and have them elected, but I don’t think America is ready for that. I think that it is… Granted it’s quite conventional and traditional, but in a good way that we have our two parties, and I think that that’s what will remain. And I say that, though, acknowledging that I’m not an obsessive panther, I understand why people — good people like my own husband — refuse to register in a party. Todd’s not a Republican and yet he’s got more commonsense conservatism than a whole lot of Republicans that I know because he is one who sees the idiosyncrasies of the characters within the machine and it frustrates him along with a whole lot of other Americans who choose to be independent. But in answer to your question, I don’t think that the third party movement will be what’s necessary to usher in some commonsense conservative ideals."</span>

<span><span>Also from the Pravda piece:

Meanwhile, it was also reported, Sarah Palin received her subjects in a rotunda at the Mall of America yesterday, only hours after U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann presided over a rally in the Minnesota Capitol rotunda to amend the state constitution with a spending cap. There was a showering of praise between the two, but Palin could have used a shower cap: a man hurled tomatoes from above, missing the former Alaska governor but striking a Bloomington police commander, Minnesota Independent reports.

I like how they said "her subjects" like she the Queen or something.  I wish!</span>

PatrickinOH,  December 8, 2009 12:42 PM

I actually had the privelage of seeing her speak in Dayton at a Pro Life Event called Viva la Vita, it was mid september in 2008, I remember it because the remnants of Huuricane Ike came into my area and took down one of our trees and knocked out our power for 24 hours, other people's power was out for 2 weeks, anyway she was very passionate in her support of Sarah and said how she had met her the previous year in Alaska and stated that she was very intelligent and a role model for women everywhere, she also joked about how all the libs were upset with that pic of Sarah with the dead moose but they had no problem seeing innocent babies aborted I got my book signed for by her and I told her I looked forward to when she came in for BOR, she was very nice, not to mention very beautiful

riley4palin,  December 8, 2009 12:51 PM

Tech:

I wasn't serious about my question.  I was just joking around.  I know why they are doing this.  I was just making a point that everyone is always so concerned about Palin and they try to pigeonhole her with every single statement about everything.

As for Rick Santorum, again it was in jest.  There is noone in the Republican party that carries more weight, stature, and power than Governor Palin.  The rest of the players keep hoping and trying to be relevant, but to no avail.  Case in point, Santorum questioning her motives for stepping down from office yesterday.

Once again the only time a Republican contemplating running for higher office can get any media attention is if they are asked about Governor Palin.

She gets press without even trying.

Bill in Baltimore,  December 8, 2009 12:53 PM

PEC, I agree on the levearage. But what if the MSM for weeks on end characterizes her as Ross Perot ? ad infinitum.

Facebook post. End of story. She controls the message. That's what I am saying.

hrh,  December 8, 2009 12:53 PM

Yep, as Rush say, the media will NEVER be the friend of conservatives.

Repubs who try desperately to be liked by the media will only compromise themselves and their ideals.

The only time they MAY pay attention to her FBs is when she compiles them in a book and/or fleshes them out into a booklength policy book.

And then, they'll just find a way to talk it down - probably by trumpeting that it's not doing as well as her autobiography did - which it undoubtedly won't do. Many more people will read bios than will read policy books ...

But they, of course, won't make that valid point.

CharterOakie,  December 8, 2009 1:00 PM

I think it's more than just "a nudge" and True King's comment seems to agree.

As I've said a few times in months past:  first choice is to reform and take over the GOP.  But if the elites fight it tooth and nail, go second choice:  blow up both major parties by running as an independent.  Sarah has the power to hive off huge chunks of both parties' registered voters.  Together with the growing number of independents in her camp, she would win a solid majority as either a R or I.

I take her words at face value, and they're quite clear.  Ball is in the court of the GOP power brokers.  Whatchagonna do, boys??

CharterOakie,  December 8, 2009 1:13 PM

hrh - I completely agree with you on this issue.

The threat of an independent movement led by Sarah needs to remain in plain view in order to get the dumbasses and sell-outs in the GOP to wake up and smell the coffee.

2) The Indy F at 41 also confirms several polls that show Obama's independent numbers either in the high 30's or low 40's and confirms that indie voters are deserting the Messiah in droves.

3) But what is surprising among indy women Obama has lost 13 points in his approval number (49 to 36) and 10 points overall

4) In addition Obama has lost 8 points in his approval number (55 to 47) among all women. This is remarkable because Obama's strength has always been perceived to be among female voters. This is only a guess but a lot of these female voters may be white and live in the suburbs

5) However the most remarkable stat is that Obama has lost 20 points in approval among MODERATE voters (68 to 48) which may be a sign that voters are turning on him due to the economy.

6) In conclusion this poll confirms what we already know that Obama is plummeting among independent voters and that women are not as solid a constitutency for the Messiah as he once viewed them. Conversely Sarah Palin is picking up steam among independent voters (CNN poll). Whatever independent support Obama loses, Palin is set to gain.

New tweet from SarahPalinUSA:

I think PPP actually polled a few days ago.  They have been posting about Sarah for a while.  The deeper Huck got into trying to spin the Clemmons thing the deeper his hole got.  It is all but assured now that Huck is toast.

latinchic,  December 8, 2009 3:00 PM

"Subjects" sounds kinda weird to me. :)

There's no hurry. It's ok.:)

Totally against the grain-the Generic Congressional Ballot:

GOP                       43% (44)

DEMS                     39% (37)

IF TEA PARTY CANDIDATE WAS INVOLVED:

DEMS                     36%

TP                          23%

GOP                       18%

UNDECIDED            22%

How could Huckabee have not lost support, I gave up on PPP long ago, but we see who they promote and who they denigrate and why. AS to Russia, it's ironic that Pravda would have a more grounded perspective on her, but not really remember who coined the word Akhanitsa. To some in Russia, the other candidates such as they consider them at all, probably remind them of the Oligarchs, that they have spent a decade purging

This also confirms that women are finally waking up to the fact that Obama is as cold as a dead fish who has the emotional vibe like a robot, or in other words, Al Gore.

He is an Ice Queen.

Govenor Palin's strategy is spot on.  She went against the norm and is not afraid to focus in on more emotional issues (Pro Life vs Pro Abortion), Faith (God is good, Religion is not a bad thing), Health Care, etc. with the voting public because those issues are indeed important to many women.

She basically is busy chipping away at all of the Dem talking points and using them with a Conservative voice to her advantage.

She lives her truth and is not afraid to say it.

Has anyone seen anything about how the fund raiser went last night???

techno,  December 8, 2009 3:05 PM

Actually I believe polled over this weekend and perhaps on Monday as well. It is really counterintuitive that folks would ignore the killing of 4 cops. Perhaps we are all missing the boat here. Everyone is so obsessed with Palin's supporters drinking the kool-aid, but might it be Huck's supporters who are the real 'kool-aid drinkers'.

techno,  December 8, 2009 3:09 PM

Pravda giving mostly positive news to Sarah Palin is the same odds that Elin Woods will ever sleep with Tiger again.

And yesterday the NYT gives a positive review to Going Rogue. Insanity rules the universe now.

Agree, it's leverage and she's wise to use it.  And it can work.  Time will tell whether it does in fact work.

I can tell i'm old when I need a decoder ring to read some of these :)
Nah.. I can understand it just perfectly. I wonder if these tweets help her with the 18-20 yr old crowd (her 'being one of them'?).

As far as myself (43yr old) I have never tweeted nor texted a message (I consider it stupid.. why type when you can talk?)

<p><span>Tevi Troy has an interesting post @ NRO “The Corner”</span>
</p><p><span>In part: “However, the recent </span><span>poll</span><span> showing media darling Obama running only a scant point ahead of the mercilessly mocked Sarah Palin on the favorability scale suggests that the American people may be in the process of rethinking things.”</span>

It compares Obama's approval rating to Palin's favorability rating. If you compare Obama's favorability rating to Palin's favorability rating, Obama is comfortably ahead.”</span>

I know 'dogs and cats living together, human sacrifice, mass hysteria" (lol) But not really, Russia's experience with communism, makes them wary of the Obama moment, Add to that, the strong Russian Orthodox tradition reigning in the country. They would understand a common sense American nationalist, who is clear eyed on the climate question

riley4palin,  December 8, 2009 4:06 PM

I am no intellectual, but I do have a hell of a lot of common sense.

The more negativity I hear coming from Ramesh Ponnuru and Charles Krauthammer about Governor Palin, the more I question their common sense and objectivity.

They are starting to remind me of Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd on the right.

Just when I thought I couldn't hold this President in more contempt. He and Michelle decide it's best for America to take Christ out of Christmas.  Not only are the decorations going to be 'more secular for this new era' but.....
<span>When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a "non-religious Christmas" -- hardly a surprising idea for an administration making a special effort to reach out to other faiths.</span>

TL,

The nice thing about texting is you don't have to play phone-tag.  You just send a message and you're done.
