Wall Street Journal Reporter Distorts John McCain's Appearance on Meet The Press
Today on Meet The Press, moderator David Gregory asked John McCain a few questions about Governor Palin:
Following the above interview, obtuse Wall Street Journal reporter Stephen Power wrote a brief article with the exceptionally misleading title, "McCain Lauds Palin, Then Calls Her Irrelevant". In his article, Power writes:
Arizona Sen. John McCain came to the defense of his former GOP running mate Sarah Palin on Sunday. But in doing so, he used an adjective that some might not consider such a compliment.
[...]
“I am entertained every time I see these people attack her and attack her and attack her. She’s irrelevant, but they continue to attack her. I am so proud of her and the work that she is doing,” McCain said.
Irrelevant?
Clearly McCain was joking about the irony in the fact that the media and liberals say she is irrelevant while at the same time doing everything in their diminishing power to stop her. There are only two explanations for Power's embarrassingly implausible interpretation. First, he didn't actually watch the interview. Second, he really is as dumb as his interpretation indicates. My money's on the latter.

I wish I was as irrelevant as Gov. Palin.
Me too..making millions of dollars, going on huge book tours, going to big wig events..I wish I were irrelevant too
Journalists and liberals (perhaps I'm being somewhat redundant) don't seem to get sarcasm. I feel bad for them, sort of.
I gotta say, WSJ is one of the very few LSM I have some faith in. This is amazingly ignorant and sloppy reporting.
It is so obvious Mccain is being sarcastic and is it stunning that the WSJ reporter is this dense not to get it.
Perhaps, if Mccain spelled out : "They are attacking her and attacking her. [THEY SAY] she's irrelevant, yet they continue to attack her"
I mean seriously, even if its not spelled out. Mccain says "She's irrelevant." and then in the next sentence sys: "She is and will play a big part in the Republican Party". Seriously, if the WSJ cannot even infer such an obvious train of thought, maybe I need to take WSJ off my list of reading as well.
I actually do subcribe to the WSJ, perhaps it time for me to rethink my last remaining paper subcription I have.
Maybe I should just subcribe to IBD.
HEY WSJ: IF YOU ARE READING THIS. PRINT A RETRACTION, THIS IS THE ONLY STRIKE BEFORE I WILL CANCEL YOUR NEWSPAPER. AND I HAVE 3 TOTAL SUBSCRIPTIONS, FOR MY BUSINESSES, DO THIS KIND OF SLOPPY REPORTING, AND I WILL CANCEL ALL 3!
It'll only get worse in the years to come.
Luckily their attacks are so ridiculous at this point that most Americans are coming to recognize that its all lies.
The only people that are going to believe the LSM soon, are the same people that are over at HuffnPuffPo.
Is it a romny plant?
Someone should e-mail the WSJ and get them to retract pronto. This is how misinformation gets around. People who don't actually watch the interview and believe the WSJ and think "McCain says Palin is irrelevant". I can't believe these sloppy journalists, and to think they get paid to be sloppy...
...Hey Stephen Power....Pre-School REPORTING!
The media needs to be spoon-feed. It's scary. And these are the same people who called Palin dumb... Unbelievable.
<span>The media needs to be spoon-fed. It's scary. And these are the same people who called Palin dumb... Unbelievable.</span>
I agree with Defend America, most americans, even democrats like me are seeing the bias, and its SO obvious at this point.
I will freely admit, a year or more ago, I saw no bias, and I had no idea what you conservatives were talking about. But after I saw the onslaught against Hillary, my eyes were truely opened.
And then I saw that onslaught turn into a tsunamai again Governor Palin.
I actually have been thinking for a while on cutting back my WSJ subscriptions, I have 3, but I might just subcribe to IBD instead. Its more expensive, but very good reporting, and very fair.
I think I will be calling WSJ tommorow. I'm at the point, I really have no patience for this kind of shitty reporting.
What else is knew with the Wall Street Journal, the MEDIA are the ones calling her irrelevant, McCain was just repeating what they are saying, but I dont like when he says that he is "Entertained" by how they are attacking her..what is so damn entertaining by being smeared by the media everyday and having libtard celebrities saying you should be gang raped, I dont find that funny at all
Stephen Power is not only irrelevant, he's an imbecile. Power-less, short circuited, and shockingly crosswired.
I didn't pay much attention to politics prior to August 29, 2008, so I don't know too much still about the Sunday morning shows and the like. However, isn't McCain on these types of shows a lot?
Can't they think of different questions to ask him? I think he uses the word "proud" in reference to his thoughts about the Governor more often than President Obama uses the phrase "let me be clear". There's nothing wrong with it I guess, but it's a little pet peeve of mine. :)
Didn't C4P post something a while back that mccain aides themselves says the LSM is making up most of this conflict. Here is our proof, one of many I'm sure.
Johnny Mac... needs to pay the vetting bill!...
Amen to that. What's a few thousand for him and Cindy Lou Who to shell out.
Oh by the way. Sorry I missed you on the thread last night. I see that I vacated just in time! hahaha

Whatever... do you mean???
The WSJ is where RINOs graze (eg, Peggy Noonan) and seek relevance. There are some good ones, but it'll never be a fairness haven for her.
Good news is that the media has succeded brilliantly in innoculating her from most of their own attacks. Unintended consequences. It's dawning on more and more people that they're not about the truth and not the sharpest knives in the drawer. They're just <span>loud</span>.
She's also got her facebook page which dwarfs their circulation, and sites like C4P where people can fact check. That's a first and it's big. C4P is a very important site and it's going to grow in importance as 10 and 12 roll around. I'm telling everyone I know about it--friend and foe!
This guy's done nothing but make a jackass of himself and made her even more hard to hit...that doesn't mean that I still wouldn't mind throwing him around like a rag doll though.
Good days work genius!
Speaking of distortions... Huff n Puff is currently smearing the Governor that she left Hawaii because "minorities made her uncomfortable."
^^^not again. that's old news..:-)
Boy, are they running out of new stuff???
WTF? I thought the WSJ has been 'moderately' supportive of our Lady Sarah in the past?!? Who wee-weed in their Cheerios to cause this?
McCain should use air quotes around "irrelevant" ...
Furthermore, he should stop saying he's "amused" or "entertained" with the way Palin's being attacked. This is the second interview he's used that line of talk in describing his reaction to the media feeding frenzy.
It's moments like these we can all realize why McCain was not elected.
Here is the link. They're using her father, and more than likely misquoting him, to attack her.
I'm watching you. Always watching.
You should. Mia's a troublemaker.
Little media tidbit...
Geraldo will be discussing Sarah tonite.....ewwwww.
"Is the rogue ready to lead? The tell-tale signs that could point to a presidential run by former Governor Sarah Palin"
I can just imagine. :-(
What pissed me off was the comments on the "article" coming from some of those so called republicans but are just elitists trying to protect GOP turf. The snobbery was unbelievable, like the regular hard working blue collar conservative should be seen (at the polls) and not heard....I nearly lost it and dived in the boards to go on a rampage.
I keep wishing that the taliban sniper at Operation Anaconda had been a better shot when he took aim and whizzed one by the great mustashed one's head.
Good gravy.
It's like when I talk about how Palin is attacked repeatedly and viciously, and the other side says they don't fear her and she's a joke...and I say...Wow, imagine what they'd do if she wasn't a joke.
Am I calling her a joke? OF COURSE NOT!
What an ignoramous.
Absolutely. He was clearly talking about the attackers calling her irrelevent. Even the WSJ is infected with radical leftists. They want a civil war among the GOP in the worst way.
WHAAAAAAAAAT????...
Wait... Wait...I almost forgot.....You're the "Innocent One"...HAH!

<span>Obama is irked that the Press did not asked him any questions about Asia during his recent trip. Instead Obama said they asked him about if he read Sarah Palin book. So what is so wrong in reading Gov. Palin book? I bet had they ask if he read some snotty, elite east coast liberal RINO book he would have gladly expounded. I bet he read other political memoirs by senators and politicians.
Why can't Sarah Palin get more respect from these people.

<span>And they wonder why ordinary Americans love this woman.</span>
Pass the doobie Geraldo....BARF!
This is astonishing, really. Only ignorance or ridiculously disingenuous bad faith could explain the misinterpretation of McCain's words, which were expressed in an almost cartoonishly ironic/sarcastic way.
Always a classic. :)
OT, but an interesting read:

Like Sarah said, the media has given up on themselves, so we've given up on them. I don't think they want people to take themselves seriously as news reporters anymore. They all have their own narratives that they *want* to write, and they keep waiting for something, anything that will remotely give them the material to support their narratives. They keep wanting a story about McCain dissing Palin or a McCain/Palin rift. However, that's not the reality, but it hasn't stopped them from manufacturing that story. It's all about sensationalism. I doubt they care about John McCain, they certainly don't care what happens to Sarah. All they care about is gossips, and a "story". These people don't have the talent to be real fictional writers, but they are too bored with writing facts. They have redefined the meaning of journalism.
New definition:
Journalist = A person with no talent who wishes to be a writer.
I haven't seen a single picture taken at or before the Gridiron dinner, that's kind of hard to believe.
What about Gov. Palin's visit to Walter Reed Army Hospital, I read that it put back her book signing in Iowa by at least an hour, but no details on the visit itself. Hopefully, she'll put something on Facebook about both Walter Reed and Gridiron.

OAKLAND RAIDERS 27, PITTSBURGH STEELERS 24...sweetest Raider moment in years!!!!
Brianus (Dear Bean Counter, please see my remarks on the open thread...I am so happy for you, My Sister!!!)</span>
Agreed!
Brianus........YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Hey Agreed!!!....What's for Dinner????... ;)
From the book signing in Sioux City today.
"A woman who works in the mall was briefing her friends and family about Palin’s attire: “She was wearing really nice, pretty purple boots and black tights,” she said. “She was very fashionable.”
Todd Sargeant, a 22-year-old Lebanon, Ohio man who arrived here in Sioux City 24 hours ago so he could be at the front of the line to get his two books signed, walked out of the Barnes & Noble smiling. “She said, ‘I hope you didn’t have to wait long,’” Sargeant recounted, with a laugh." "
Just thought it was cute and had to share. ;-)
MAC needs to just go quietly into the night...talk about irrelevant! His picture is next to the word in the dictionary!
What's Oakland now.. 2-14 or something like that?
Hey Cruela!!...WTH????...Are you trying to get me kicked off this site????
You know, I'm starting to believe liberals are onto something. They keep saying "Palin didn't write that!" And I think they're right. Palin didn't write her speech / jokes last night...
Ronald Reagan's spirit did.
What I don t get is geraldo needs a victim and the lsm hates Sarah so why doesn t geraldo defend her? He is so lame that fox keeps him as their token lib.
Now js kits won t let me use an apostrophe, it opens a lower window to open a link?
He only reads stuff about him or written by a marxist.
In sports when your QB is over the hill he gets sacked a lot more because of his immobility and throws more interceptions because he just hasn't got the arm strength, eyesight or the accuracy any longer.
McCain simply is over the hill. The man is 73 years old and simply is not adept enough any longer to sidestep questions that seek to embarrass or expose one to ridicule, in this case Sarah Palin. His attempt at sarcasm was poor and was left to interpretation. Sure I know what he meant, because I am a Sarah Palin fan, but if you were not you could have taken him literally that "she is irrelevant".
My advice to McCain in the future: refuse to answer any questions about Palin.
KeelyH....You left out the word, FICTION writer.
sarah 2012
Mia....YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I know, Cruela, but I feel like a Super-Bowl winner this afternoon!!!! LOL!!!!--BTW, congrats to yr. Broncos for the rout of KC!!!
i WISH YOU WOULD NOT SAY THINGS LIKE THAT ON THIS SITE.
<<<< Hey Beehive....Guess Who??? <<<
Speaking of purple, I never did learn last night if bigfoot wore the tux or the purple thong to the gridiron banquet.
Oh you read that?
uh oh...you're in Big Trouble...shhhhh...
Barney and Fred!!!! LOL
Well after the thong thingy.. I was just thanking them for being so kind as to keep you...!!!
Oh you have got to be kidding. A cartoon. I will never be able to watch the Flintstones the same way again.
My apoligies if I offended anyone, but I cant help but wish.
This may be old news to you but you all that havent seen this site my be very interested. http://cooperscopy.blogspot.com/
Gees, they "journalists" are delusional if they can't detect sarcasm when they hear it!!
Interesting too that McCain did not answer the question regarding Sarah feeling like she was thrown under the bus by the campaign--he certainly did not deny that she was!!
It's about time he sticks up for her! He needs her to campaign for him.
Uh-mm this reporter is irrelevant.
**these=they**
<span>The reporter is not being ignorant or sloppy, he wants all of us to believe that McCain is embarassed by Sarah. That's what these liberals are desparate to have us believe. Sarah is a joke, don't take her seriously, blah, blah, blah.</span>
<span> </span>
<span>But we're not their usual mindless audience. We are conservatives and by definition we think for ourselves. The libs are used to grouping people and assigning talking and thinking points to them.</span>
<span> </span>
<span>Just sit back and watch them flail about. We know the truth.</span>

um, yea, minorities "made her so uncomfortable" that she married one --> TODD!
Do I hear Innocent Card????...RIGHT!!
Just watching your back for ya...your welcome!
RD
Agree, McCain and his "My Friends"... always struck me as lame too!
I will say and techno eludes to It... age is a factor but my belief is McCain's real problem is his total lack of CONVICTION for what Sarah stands for, he USED her to further his ambitions, never buying in to the real Sarah or really understanding her... neglect to understand the DEPTH of Sarah!
So when he encounters these interviews.. his lack of commitment and understanding and his core beliefs show miserably and he make these flippant comments of shallowness... no boldness because he can't, It's just not there... He searches for the correct political answers... BLATHERING!
His actions Totally unlike Sarah.... who is convicted with her core beliefs and exudes them with her every breath and smile!
I hear a BUS!!!!
Is it Blue?
More and more the LSM is relying on people to do little more than read the headline. More and more people are realizing they have to do their own research in order to find out the facts. The LSM has little to no idea they are the ones making themselves irrelevant. The media drives me batty. I feel more betrayed by them than even the government (and that's pretty hard to do). The media is supposed to be the watchdog. Instead they've become the water carriers for the team the love best. Thank goodness for C4P and other sites like it. Truth will out!
I knew.. I knew.. I read the word purple.. and I just knew it!
You can comment there. I did.
Can you see Russia from the underbelly?
Dear manajordan,
Thanks!!!
Brianus
I put a lot on a prior thread. She was late. She flew from KSUX to Joe Foss Field 2 hrs ago. Either she had a private event or she is early.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UJT750
Great coverage by the Journal in KSUX. 4 reporters. Live streaming video. Later video, stories.
12 minute flight to Foss made up some time.
Unless she took the bus.

They do what they do. If you gave a chimp the keys to your car, would you be surprised when it came back beat to hell?
Thanks for that ragdoll comment. So often it would be easier by far to pound 'em into the dirt and be done with 'em.
It is apparent they have no self respect, without which they can't offer any to anyone. The closest they can come to respect is fear.
Very well said!!!
I wouldn't recommend taking this WSJ reporter to a movie with a complex plot.
He will be whispering during the whole thing: "why did he do that?", where did the girl go?", "what, he was dead the whole time? This is the third time I've seen this movie, and I finally get it!"
D'oh!
FOX NATION is running with this bogus story people need correct the record. and email Foc nation.com
