WSJ: Obama Bets Big on Brief Surge

Hot Air: McCain: “Success is the real exit strategy”

Ed Morrissey: A few more thoughts on Obama’s Afghanistan speech

WSJ: "We have now reached the stage of the health-care debate when all that matters is getting a bill passed, so all news is good news, more subsidies mean lower deficits, and more expensive insurance is really cheaper insurance. The nonpolitical mind reels."

FT: Fears grow about overheated US debt market

Nicola Moore: Shhh... Congress is Raising the Debt Limit

Brian Riedl: "The Congressional Budget Office today released a report asserting that the stimulus succeeded in creating growth and jobs. If this seems completely detached from reality, it’s because CBO did not actually analyze the performance of the economy — including the rapid increase in the unemployment rate since the stimulus was enacted."

Eagar to Attend Sarah Palin book signing Senate candidate stands by another strong, conservative woman.

http://www.eagarforsenate.com/

Governor Palin will make one stop in Utah on her book tour, signing copies at the Salt Lake City Costco on December 9th, from noon to 3:00 pm.<span> </span>Cherilyn Eagar, dubbed 'Utah's Sarah Palin' by local media, will be there to support Palin's book tour and looks forward to meeting the former Alaska chief executive.
Eagar says, 'It’s time for conservative women to be given a voice in Congress, women who will speak to our values.<span> </span>After all, the majority of health care decisions are made by women.<span> </span>Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota has been a great spokeswoman for these issues, as has Phyllis Schlafly, the First Lady of the Conservative Movement.'<span> </span>Schlafly’s Eagle Forum PAC has endorsed Eagar’s campaign.

I know that some of you may have been dissapointed at her message last night, but for her it's not about strategy, she wears her support for the troops, on her sleeve, and that is the big issue and she is very much aware that we only have one president at one time. Think of her as the emissary from the 'enemy camp'. My loathing for Matthews has hit a new low

THE 10 MYTHS SURROUNDING SARAH PALIN:

In writing posts for C4P and acknowledging Sarah growth in her Facebook membership I constantly tell myself that some of that growing support will naturally bleed over to C4P and that these newcomers may not be aware of what Sarah really represents or that they still may harbor MYTHS about Sarah that perhaps may cause them not to be so forceful or cogent in rebutting arguments that anti-Palin folks or blog sites render or skeptics/fence-sitters may bring up to why they will not support Sarah. As the resident iconclast at C4P here are 10 myths I am going to shatter:

1) THE MEANING OF GOING ROGUE

If you examine the definition of 'rogue' as an adjective you will find there are several definitions:

a) being vicious and destructive
b) one who lives apart from the rest of the heard; solitary
c) acting independently and using unorthodox methods that are unpredictable and are likely to cause trouble
d) operating outside normal or desirable controls

There is nowhere on record as far as I know that indicates that Palin is vicious and destructive. But I would argue that Palin is solitary in the sense that she admits "she is not obsessively partisan", that she acts independently and using unorthodox methods and that she is operating beyond a framework based on the status quo or artifical parameters that have already been set by the establishment or political pundits.

If you look at instances where Sarah has gone rogue what they have in common is not so much political philosophy but in terms of POLITICAL STRATEGY AND EXECUTION. Not wanting to go back with another interview with Couric, offhandedly dealing with the wardrobe issue in Tampa to the displeasure of McCain's handlers, favoring attacks on Rev. Wright, showing disdain for the campaign decision to abandon Michigan, and of course the unexpectant resignation from office are prime examples. IMHO, this demonstrates that Sarah Palin has acute political acumen and is savvy to the nth degree. She is willing to think outside the box, when 95% will decide to go with conventional wisdom or as she says 'stay with the herd'.

I was one of the first posters on C4P to call for Sarah not to run for re-election and resign as soon as she could. When I made several posts to that effect I had no inside info, was only speaking from a political theorist's point of views and frankly was reconciled that Sarah will never abandon Alaska and make such a bold move, that no politician would give up a sure re-election bid and decide to chuck it all. At the time I was lambasted for such a preposterous idea. So I know what I am talking about.

Most of the Palinistas are now reconciled to Sarah's resignation and even embrace it now, but there are many skeptics out there who refuse to support Sarah at this time not only because of the resignation but the perception perhaps that Sarah has wandered 'too far off the reservation', that she may be some kook or eccentric, that her conservatism might be laced with some sort of extremism or linked to militia groups.

Sarah will have to deal with the resignation but as to the "rogue perception" Sarah still and will remain a Reagan conservative and believe in the values and principles of it, will always support upholding the Constitution and will speak positively about American traditions and what made America great and how it can become great again.

So what I am saying new Palinistas, in terms of going rogue you have to separate the actual traditional conservative political philosophy that Sarah espouses from the political strategies, approaches, and decisions that accompany a political campaign or how Sarah chooses to deal with an event. When getting together with your [...]

2) The mainstream media (MSM) wants Sarah Palin to win the GOP nomination in 2012

You hear this argument all the time from Romney supporters, Huck supporters or the GOP establishment who make the argument to diminish or marginalize Sarah as either 'unelectable' or too divisive.

And then you get the Far Left jumping on board with this drivel as well in the spirit of 'bring her on' and our Messiah will trounce 'the bimbo'.

You folks are all rational I assume. Tell me if you really wanted Sarah Palin to win the GOP nomination in 2012 why would you (Obama, the MSM, entertainment industry, academia) for 15 straight months expend a tremendous amount of time, resources and money to attack Sarah Palin with the most incessant, relentless vitriol, vituperation, ridicule in the history of modern American politics coupled with Goebbels and Alinsky-like disinformation and propaganda in an effort to destroy Sarah if you really thought she would be an easy mark for the Messiah in 2012.

That's like saying a championship fighter really wants to fight the leading contender when everyone knows he is doing everything within his power (scheduling other fights, diminishing the challenger's abilities in the press, not agreeing on the money) to avoid the fight.

If you want an easy mark if you are the Dems you first pick out a likely candidate you know you can beat and secondly you don't criticize him but prop him up. Huckabee, before Clemmons, fit the bill perfectly. Even when Obama attacked Fox News and Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, he did not attack Huckabee, even though Huck was touted by PPP a Dem polling outfit as the frontrunner in 8 straight monthly polls. That is what you do when you know you can beat an opponent. Unfortunately for the Far Left, Clemmons screwed everything up and Huck is no longer viable.

Rush Limbaugh talks about it all the time: watch who the MSM is attacking the most on the Republican side and you know who they will fear the most. As Rush is right 99.5% of the time, I'll take him at his word.

Any news on Stand Up For Our Nation?

riley4palin,  December 2, 2009 9:28 AM

I watched the speech last night.  I decided to sleep on it before I provided my two cents.  I will differ from many of you, but there isn't much I can find positive about anything Obama does, including that speech last night.

1)  I believe Obama expected to walk on that stage and get a standing ovation for five minutes straight.  The tone for me was set right there when the applause was sporatic and shortened.  It was not about him, and yet everything is always about him.   This speech should have been made inside the White House with no audience.  Whoever keeps advising Obama should be fired.

2)  The only time he looked straight into the camera was when he was discussing the Afghan people.  It would be nice on occasion if he felt the need to speak directly to the American people and put his own country first for once.  As soon as he finished up that part of the speech, it went back to watching a tennis match.  How is it that his advisors don't find that to be a negative?

3)  Personally, I don't think his heart was in this speech until the very end when he likes to make it all about him. His voice was not strong and he showed no true conviction.  As much as the guy tries to sell, some of us just do not buy it.

4)  He sounded defensive and showed a sign of weakness when he needed to make a point of telling everyone that no strategy options on the table would have sent troops before 2010 anyway.  Obviously, the "dithering" comment left a mark and he needed to defend it last night.

5)  Making a statement about setting a timetable for withdrawal was the worst sentence of the entire speech. How convenient and ironic that it will be right around election season.

6)  He needed to state he is the Commander-in-Chief at least twice during the speech.  Yes, Obama we all know that.  Who are you really trying to convince or did your ego get the best of you again?

7)  After the speech he seemed to high tail it down to the side stage to shake hands with the Cadets.  Another good photo-op perhaps to try and convince Americans that he cares about the troops?  Very transparent and disingenuous.

8)  He never said WIN or VICTORY.

POSITIVES:

1)  He decided to send 30K troops.  Higher than I expected.  I congratulate him for taking some advice from the Commanders on the ground.

2)  The FoxNews cameras panned to quite a few Cadets falling asleep.  I laughed out loud.  I even noticed Hillary flicking her eyes pretty fast so as to stay awake.  Yep, the bloom is off the rose.

3)  The speech was shortened to 35 minutes.  Whew!  I bet Obama and the White House expected the numerous applauses for him to extend the speech to at least 50-60 minutes and were very disappointed.

Governor Palin's Facebook Post:

At first I was surprised by her statement.  After re-reading it, I believe she set the right tone for someone in her position.  Her title was perfect.  She knew he didn't use the words WIN in the speech and so she decided to send him a message.  Glad she mentioned the timetable and like many of you, I believe she will be watching him closely and will speak up when warranted if he goes off track.

techno,  December 2, 2009 9:37 AM

3) THAT EVANGELICALS ARE NECESSARILY CONSERVATIVES

From Joe Carter: Huckabee and the Limits of Compassion

"Judging from the records, the governor also seemed to put a lot of weight on conversion stories--a common trait among evangelicals, who believe the gospel is sufficient for restoration and redemption of character. The opinion of clergy appears to have carried a great deal of weight in the decision-making process.

Marc Ambinger wrote in the Dumon case in 2007:

"...Dumond claimed he had found God; he was a model prisoner; he gave the state no reason to believe the prison experience wasn't reforming; there weren't any signs that DuMond had any intention of offending again."

"Ironically what makes Huckabee such an appealing Presidential candidate-his empathy for all people and genuine belief in the individual..."

First it was not my contention to smear or ridicule evangelicals but to explain that from the concept of restoration and redemption there are two ways you can go-take a conservative approach and focus on the individual, himself or herself to find it or to help them to find it and there is the LIBERAL approach which is to use the concept as a trigger to presumptuously JUSTIFY intervening in a situation that has a potential risk to the public. If you are a liberal you are willing to live with that risk or are oblivious to it while I am a conservative simply because I would not be willing to jeopardize the safety and security of the public by making such a decision.

And as statistical proof of many evangelicals being not conservative in the most recent Rasmussen poll of a head to head match up between Sarah Palin and Obama Obama got 30% of the evangelical vote while Sarah only got 63%.

ladydawnelle,  December 2, 2009 9:44 AM

GM Palin Fans & Friends!  Just a shout out and a W00T!!!  For all Sarah is doing!  She is like a huge cool breeze that none can deny!  (some don't like cool breezes much but MOST are normal)  LOL  Lots to catch up on!  Hugs at cha!

techno,  December 2, 2009 9:45 AM

4) That Huckabee will not run in 2012 because of the Clemmons issue

Huck could go stubborn and become defiant and angry and run anyway.

But barring an episode of irrationality, yesterday I made the argument because of what I stated in (3) that many of Huck's evangelicals may stay with him or at least not abandon him until a dark horse emerges that they feel comfortable with. Huck could continue on, even with a slippage in Intrade and the polls (the latter I and many others predict) and play a wait and see game to see whether Romney is able to rebound from abysssmal F/UF with Republicans and conservatives (PPP poll), if Sarah falters and the Sarah Palin express becomes derailed or if a viable dark horse emerges that is able to bleed away Huck's support and gain traction alongside Palin and Romney. Huck may use McCain as an example and fight on and hope that all the stars align and over time conservatives don't hold Clemmons over his head any longer. Personally I don't think he has a prayer that this strategy could succeed, but what do I know, I thought McCain was a dead duck in Sept 2007 as well.

yogi41,  December 2, 2009 9:52 AM

I didn't watch it, but followed the live blogging on Free Republic and Hot Air. There were many mentions that he was lifeless and dispassionate; more so than usual. Then I read that the cadets didn't break out into spontaneous applause at certain times when Obama paused, thereby deflating his delivery even more. It's clear that Obama soars with his rhetoric when he speaks before friendly and jubilent crowds; he feeds off of them in order for his rhetoric to soar even higher. Last night, he clearly needed it, but didn't get it, thereby, his speech was pedestrian and disappointing.

techno,  December 2, 2009 9:55 AM

5) THAT SARAH PALIN WILL PICK UP THE GREATER MAJORITY OF HUCK'S SUPPORT IF HE DROPS IN THE POLLS OR ANNOUNCES HE IS NOT RUNNING IN 2012

Again IMHO much of Huck's evangelical support will remain loyal to him. If he bows out I do think that about 1/2 will filter over to Sarah but of the other half a portion will go over to Romney because he is a man, his Mormon religion is a non-factor, and his name is not Palin and the rest will choose to opt out and sit on the sidelines waiting for a viable dark horse to emerge which they can get behind (can we say Tim Pawlenty).

Having said Clemmons will make Palin the automatic frontrunner in 2010 IMHO and this momentum may make her unstoppable especially if Romney continues to falter and a viable dark horse does not emerge from the GOP establishment bullpen.

Don't think the GOP establishment and elites don't know this. They will be holding "American idol auditions" for the forseeable future until they find the right man/woman to take on Palin. Also what this will also prove is their faith in Romney rebounding is now teetering on the edge.

narciso,  December 2, 2009 10:03 AM

It's quite clear, people show excitement when they express what they really believe. Sarah's enthusiasm for the troops, for the life ethic, for the development of the resources in what she calls 'God's Country' is clear and infectious. Obama is like a photonegative of her, showing resentment, hatred for bankers, 'bitter clingers' clutching to long extant gripes. He is very much like the prototypical third world leader in Western garb, what Ikenga typified as "African Colonial" although Adjami has aloso tied it to his native Middle East, and there are commonalities in the land of my forefathers not only in Fidel and Chavez, but Peron and Vargas

jimr3,  December 2, 2009 10:03 AM

<span>National Review Online has reactions to Obama’s Afghan speech from a variety of politicians, statesman and op-ed writers.<span>  </span>Sarah's statement made the NRO reaction list - but no Mitt, Huck or T-Paw.<span>  </span>Interesting.<span>  </span></span></p>

techno,  December 2, 2009 10:09 AM

6) THAT SARAH PALIN WILL ALLOW HER RELIGIOUS BELIEFS TO INTERFERE WITH HOW SHE GOVERNS

Again from Joe Carter:

"...would certainly discover this political reality the hard way. Initially, I chalked it up solely to extraordinary political courage. Later, I tempered this view when I realized that this courage was mixed with a large does of CLUELESSNESS. The governor seemed genuinely surprised that ...was held responsible for the criminal acts committed by those whose sentences...had commuted as governor. It was as if...believed that simply having noble intentions and a willingness to make tough decisions would provide political cover. The notion that...should be accountable for future crimes by these men seemed as foreign to...as the idea that...should refuse all leniency."

"...naivete about how...actions would be judged was compounded by...own belief in the nobleness of motives. ...was-and likely remains-a true believer in the concept of restorative justice. Like many politicians who latch onto ideas that support their worldview, however,...was enthusiastic about the general theory while failing to grasp the nuances of its application..."

Now if that were Sarah Palin quite frankly I could not support her. But Carter was referring to Mike Huckabee and not Sarah Palin.

In contrast to Huckabee, Sarah favored a tightening up of the clemency process in Alaska and vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to same sex couples and although she favors the teaching of creationism and evolution side by side in the classroom she clearly pointed out that was only her personal view and would not use the weight of government to see that implemented in the classroom, For you new Palinistas you have to get the word out that Sarah may be a Christian as Huck is but her style or approach to governing is completely the opposite of Huck's.

techno,  December 2, 2009 10:19 AM

7) THAT LEVI JOHNSTON IS A NUISANCE RATHER THAN A MAJOR POLITICAL CONCERN

How many folks would have bet that a minor single vehicle traffic accident with a fire hydrant within a gated community could perhaps destroy the credibility or peaceful life of Tiger Woods?

I, for one, will never discount, overlook or dismiss Ricky Hollywood. I don't think he has anything on Sarah but that is not the point. With the entire weight of George Soros, the Obama war room, the MSM, the entertainment industry and academia behind him whatever Levi utters will be disseminated throughout the land, especially if it is salacious and gossipy.

As Palinistas we know it's all garbage but that's not the point. Will moderates and elitists tend to shy away from Sarah still because she is perceived to be a 'hick', unsophisticated, or trailer trash because she allowed 'white trash' to impregnate her daughter?

Folks, during the 2008 campaign I again was one of the first posters who came out and said that Levi would be bought off by Soros and Obama and that they would use him to take Sarah down. As yet that has not happened, but the last time I checked he is still on the payroll of a member of the shadow party. Until he is let go, he will be unleashed to perhaps do potentail damage to Sarah's candidacy over the next 3 years. Don't doubt it for one minute, new Palinistas.

8) THAT SARAH PALIN DOES NOT DO WELL WITH WOMEN AND INDEPENDENTS

First to women. In the most recent PPP poll Sarah's F/UF moved from 32/54 in October to 42/48 in November for a net gain of 16 points. And in a head to head matchup with Obama in November among female voters it was Obama 51 and Palin 45.

And in the recent ABC/WAPO released in terms of voting intentions among white women at this time 48% of white women would now vote for Sarah and 52% against and 51% of white suburban women would vote for her and 49% against. What you have to remember is that 97% of black women and a significant number or Hispanic women are going to give Sarah an unfavorable rating which skews the overall F/UF among all women significantly and these are voters Sarah would never get anyway.

And finally in the most recent WAPO on voting intentions for the GOP 2012 primaries Palin received the support of 23% or leaning Republican women (GOP members and independent conservatives) while Romney, Huckabee and McCain all polled 8% or less.

As to independents here is info that new Palinistas can use to refute this:

BinB,

You were wondering if Obama met with any cadets last nite after his speech? I don't really know, but if he did I hope it was more heartfelt than this.....

From a wounded soldier at Ft Hood......

"First off the private said was the advance team that he said made sure there was nothing on the bedside tables Obama did not want in the pictures. (like what a bible maybe?) Then he said a man whose name he forgot came and gave them all a lecture about what they were ALLOWED TO SAY AND DO while the President was there. He said they could not speak unless HE spoke to them, and could not TOUCH him unless he touched them. This guy you could tell was not left bashing. He said that Obama gave a prepared speech to the whole group, NO PERSONAL BEDSIDE VISITS. Then he went around and shook their hands, but still no words to them other than his prepared remarks. Then he left."

^^^^^and that surprises you how?

techno,  December 2, 2009 10:49 AM

9) THAT SARAH PALIN DID NOT RESIGN HER OFFICE TO SEEK NATIONAL RECOGNITION OR STANDING

This was the narrative spread by John Ziegler who claimed that Sarah's resignation was solely based on extricating herself and her family 'from the foxhole' of bankruptcy and personal destruction and that she never considered the possibility that she could use her time as a private citizen to 'go national'. I usually agree with Ziegler, but not this time. In her resignation speech Palin talked about advancing in a different direction; she even invoked Douglas Macarthur (I shall return) as a signal that she was not going to become a full-time housewife.

I know the argument could be made that Palin resigned so that she could take advantage of the free time to write Going Rogue sooner, in turn to get rich and become financially independent and become a celebrity and that the Going Rogue book tour is all about selling books and glorifying Sarah and not about any presidential ambitions. Unfortunately for those who try to make this argument they have no solid ground to stand on. During the last 4 months what hint has Sarah Palin given that she is not a major player in US politics, when has she backed away from her intention of helping GOP Congressional candidates to get elected in the 2010 midterms, when has backed down from attacking Obama on her Facebook and in an interview with David Brody on her low standing in the polls why did she just not say I don't care about the polls-I'm just a private citizen. Folks, it doesn't make you a genius to figure out that political polls for individual politicians are only of interest to ACTIVE politicians. Do you think George Bush cares any more what his F/UF are?

When people are embarrassed about their behavior or know they are not living up to what they said they were going to do, have turned their backs on people they know they should be standing by, they are not able to look the ones they have wronged, in the eye. They avoid the wronged party and look for ways to not be confronted by the wronged party. That is the feeling I got from President Obama last night, while I watched parts of his speech. I know he is watching a ping pong game whenever he gives a speech, but I thought last night, maybe he knew he wasn't giving the military exactly what they asked for, he was letting them down, and avoided eye contact and was listless, because of that.
I am probabaly reading way too much into it, because I am attributing him caring about anything besides himself.

10) THAT SARAH PALIN IS NOT RUNNING FOR POTUS IN 2012

This is the narrative Romney supporters and the GOP establishment are trying to spread on right-wing blogs.

But this begs the question why would Sarah not run in 2012? There is no good reason. I will expand on that.

So why would Sarah run or what indication has she given that she will run?

1) Sarah has not ruled out the possibility

2) Not dismissing the question Hannity asked her hypothetically about if she were running for POTUS how would she answer the question that she might quit again in midterm?

3) The absolutely wonderful poll numbers that show if she is not the GOP frontrunner now that she soon will be

4) Huckabee being damaged politically by Clemmons. I would argue this gives Sarah more incentive to run.

5) Romney is faltering

6) Sarah's superstar appeal based on her charisma, the ability to raise an unlimited amount of money and cogent eloquence to attract swing voters

7) The knowledge this is her time; if she waits she could miss the boat forever and as Sarah says she is not one to miss an opportunity

8) The ability to sustain the 'hits' from the MSM after 15 months of incessant abuse and still stand tall.

9) Sarah's disdain for Obama and his Leftist agenda

10) The American people are beseeching and imploring her to run in 2012. Sarah cares too much about the American people, can see they are fearful and frightened of the future and how they are suffering and how passionate they are about preserving America as it was first envisioned by the Founding fathers.

I am trolling conservatives websites and a surprising consensus seems to be building that both Huckabee and Romney are toast. T Paw seems to be moving into Huck's evangelical slot, so who will the moderates rally around? I think George Pataki might be a good candidate for them. I know conservatives loathe him but if he throws his hat into the ring, the GOP establishment will rally round him just to keep Palin at bay. I think he fits the Romney's mantle quite well without Romney;s flip flopping.  he's also known to play dirty so there.

Folks, I hate to admit this but Tiger Woods just made a statement acknowledging his 'transgressions'. One day before the accident the Enquirer reported that Woods was having an affair. And then the next day he runs into a fire hydrant at 2:30 in the morning. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened.

Having said that I stand by my comments about Tiger's golf game and in terms of strictly talent Sarah Palin matches up with Tiger and but in terms of morality Sarah outshines him by a long way.

President Obama is playing prevent defense, running out the clock, in a game where there is no time clock.
He thinks this is a football game, when this is a game of wills, fought until someone is overhwhelmed to the point of absolute defeat.
He doesn't even understand what field of play we are on. He is playing under the wrong rules, thinking we are playing one game, when in reality we are in a different game altogether.

I also just got back from a run in the drizzle, but no mascara for me.

We can go rogue together today!  BUT my underwear are back to being right side out!

riley4palin,  December 2, 2009 11:37 AM

Incredibly talented golfer, but is this really that surprising?  Tiger has done an incredible job with his image over the years, but nobody is perfect.  Like Obama, the media put Tiger on a pedesel,(including all Golf announcers).  They drool over Tiger every single season that at times it gets nauseating even for a golfer like myself that marvels at his talent.

Nancy,  December 2, 2009 11:43 AM

techno,
Yes!:) I know our battlefield commander is far superior in every way to President Obama.
I was talking about his speech last night, but you are right about 2010!
Governor Palin is a long distance runner, and played a basketball game with a fractured ankle. She has been in political battles and billion dollar negotiations that President Obama has never had a sniff at.
He is the Incredible Shrinking Man, next to her, her accomplishments, and her battle tested will.

riley4palin,  December 2, 2009 11:44 AM

With other "transgressions" coming to light, Tiger should be lucky that his wife only used a golf club on him.

As for this apology now, IMO, it is five days too late.  But then again, we are talking Tiger Woods.  He has always played by his own rules and goes public only when it suited his needs.  The problem with that strategy here is the media is ruthless and relentless with the story and will never back down until they find more dirt.  Tiger should have realized this last week.  His attorneys and PR advisors did him no favors.

riley4palin,  December 2, 2009 11:47 AM

Nancy, excellent post!

techno,  December 2, 2009 11:49 AM

I wrote this on another site. With TMZ, the tabloidization of our culture, 24/7 cable news, the Internet, Facebook and the blogosphere there is no way in hell that any celebrity (except for Obama in the 2008 campaign) escape the truth. They can run but they cannot hide. And folks I admit that I am no genius. But I have seen enough of the current culture to know what I am saying is right on the mark.

Celebrities who think they will never get "caught" are just fooling themselves. What I don't understand these folks all have agents, who I assume are just as smart or way smarter than I am. Don't you think they would have informed their clients of what to expect if they stray. If they didn't they are grossly negligent in their duties.

As for Sarah Palin, that she is still standing up after 15 months of way more intense scrutiny than Tiger Woods will have to face is to be recognized for what it is-a tribute to her resolve, tenacity, courage and poise to take all the body blows and despite the pain and suffering they inflicted was and is determined to fight the match for the full 15 rounds and to get up every time she is knocked down. This Tiger Woods episode provides even more clarity than I had before on this subject.

And for you new Palinistas, welcome aboard. Together we are all going to take back this country.

As far as the clapping he was waiting for.  The military is not allowed to make political stances.  I dare say this was stressed to them prior to the speech.  They are to execute the mission without politics.  Plus keep in mind we are a military at war but not a nation at war.  The individuals he was talking to are part of the 1% that is really affected by his decisions so his words have lots of meaning.

But, it is time for a change and if not there, it will be somewhere.  I'm gettin bored in suburban Ohio.

riley4palin,  December 2, 2009 12:17 PM

I understand that the military is not allowed to make their political views known and should just support the mission, but it was very, very telling to me last night by watching some of the Cadets nod off during the speech.

My focus was solely on the PR and marketing of the event.  It was ill advised and poorly planned.

What message did that send to those watching on TV?  That the CIC cannot keep anyone's attention and he is boring.

How could you avoid that message and impression?  You make a speech that serious inside the Oval Office or somewhere in the White House with no audience.

The PR advisors (Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett, Gibbs, etc) are in over their heads and have no idea about messaging.  They all should be sent back to Chicago.

If this were Governor Palin putting Cadets to sleep last night about a military mission, how much crap do you think she would be getting today from the LSM?!

techno,  December 2, 2009 12:29 PM

Why Sarah is so smart: allowing Rush and others to do the dirty work in the trenches and protect her from getting sacked while she has the freedom to see the entire field, has the time to make the right reads and then the talent to accurately throw the pass to the open receiver.

<span>HuckPAC coordinator steps down, citing clemency decision</span>
The Arkansas coordinator for Mike Huckabee's political action committee resigned Tuesday, citing the former Arkansas governor's decision nine years ago to grant clemency to Maurice Clemmons, the man suspected of murdering four police officers in Washington state.
Jason Tolbert, who runs a conservative blog, served as Arkansas state coordinator for HuckPAC in a volunteer capacity.
"My departure was with a heavy heart but was done after serious prayer and consideration," Tolbert <span>wrote on his Web site</span>. "Some have asked about the timing. As most could imagine, the recent news of the last two days along with the response did play a role in this decision but was not the sole factor."

>>>..these folks all have agents, who I assume are just as smart or way smarter than I am..<<<

techno,
There is one thing celebrity and alas! a lot of politcal handlers don't have that Sarah Palin has, and we her supporters have: common sense.

"Knowledgeable men have so  much knowledge it falls out of their ears everytime they move, but has no sense to come in from the rain", or some such thing as that. For some reason I can't find now where or who said that, but I know it's Old Wisdom, and as such- is timeless.

You couple that common sense with grit and resourcefulness and hard work, well...it equals success.

Anonymous,  December 2, 2009 1:09 PM

-that was what hubby thought too. But after reading this article, by Gable Steingart of Der Spiegel, for some reason I believe the cadets were really told to "applaud heartily"... but what do I know, I wasn't invited to be there and am not a party crasher! (;>

Nancy,  December 2, 2009 2:37 PM

Listening to Rush today, made me think of something.

The Left is so obsessed with words, because that is where they live. They are academics, elites, wordsmiths, because they DO NOT DO ANYTHING!

What is the meaning of the words: Victory? Win? Palling? Is?
These are all abstract thoughts to them.
Victory is when all of those cadets you were reading to last night have the freedom and objective to defeat our enemies. And come home knowing they killed so many of our enemies that they have no avenue to attack us again.

They use empty words to gain power, and rule every aspect of people's lives.
They use words to garner votes.
Their words have expiration dates.

Governor Palin says what she means and means what she says. That is why her resignation speech went completely over their heads.
That is why her words rock their worlds.
Her words are backed up like a freight train coming down the tracks, with actions.
She say things without knowing her words will be weighed by the people she serves, as trustworthy or not.
She is a doer of words.
They are talkers of what will get them power.

President Obama is like a coach to his team, the military.
Giving them a "pep" talk, strategy seesion before the game.
After months of prepping the plan with his assistants, he sits the team down, they all look up at him expectantly:
Obama: Okay guys, here is what we are going to do! Go out there, don't shoot, don't score, play defense, if ya want, don't look to the bench for any help,if you make any mistakes I will boo right along with everyone else, and if you make a great play, I will stand up and puff out my chest, and wave to the crowd, I might substitute at the end of the game, with demoralized teammates, but that substitute thingy is still under consideration, now, make me look good!

This is so true, and what's scary is that one of Alinsky/Machiavelli's main tenets is that success and failure are what determine ethics, therefore the words you use to achieve those ends are irrelevant. That's where the term Might proves right comes from. <span>Any lie is justified as long as it moves you toward the goal. This is clearly the justification Obama used during the campaign. <span>The idea that not only Obama and Hillary, but basically the entire left wing refer to Alinsky as a great influence in their lives is truly scary. If you've never read <span>Saul Alinsky’s dedication to his own book, it is chilling: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer</span></span></span>
