Good Morning!

Recovering Democrat....thoughts and prayers..

Ciao Bello...

GAHanson,  December 9, 2009 8:10 AM

Imagine how many ethics complaints would have been filed if Gov. Palin had not resigned, and had gone on a book signing tour.  My guess is that there would have been at least one filed for every stop on the tour, plus some just aimed at the tour as a whole.  Let's say about 40.  That's in addition to the Andree McNutt's recent complaint.

PEC,  December 9, 2009 8:17 AM

Yesterday was suppose to be the day Pfloufe made his big push to unseat Sarah's book.  Does anybody have the final results on that.  I watched throughout the day and never saw him come close on Amazon or B&N.  Anybody see anything else.

M. Minnesota,  December 9, 2009 8:21 AM

I suspect Pfloufe's book went "poof" on Dec. 8th.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 8:27 AM

Dear Nancy, Cruela, Bestbud, and Firelight,

I only came to the Copenhagen thread a short while ago, but I want to THANK you for sharing your wonderful experiences of yesterday.  Your simple eloquence was deeply moving...I loved it.

Firelight, I am most happy that our prayers were answered and that you did make it after all: the Lord is good and gracious, and "disposes all things sweetly"!!!

I want to meet you guys, and all my fellow C4Pers: WE MUST HAVE A C4P CONVENTION!!

Could we get Sarah to come as the featured speaker?!?  It would be unlikely, but not impossible.

Anyway, this is something to think about...indeed, to pray about!!

Meanwhile, again thanks from the bottom of my soul for sharing your special moments with Our Sarah and with her family.

God bless you always!!

Brianus/Brian (PS: I have been up all night, and must leave soon to get some rest --but I will be back later on today)

It is so good to see you here.  Good morning!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 8:52 AM

Mia and Charter,

I have come to look forward to your early-morning Italian (and even French)!!

Which of these right-wing commentators or bloggers made the assertion or at least suggested that Sarah Palin was finished politically and/or would not be the GOP presidential nominee in 2012, shortly after her resignation in July?

1) Charles Krauthammer, Fox News commentator

2) Lars Larson, talk show host

3) Erick Erickson of Red State

4) Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday

5) Ace of spades, blogger

Bean Counter,  December 9, 2009 8:53 AM

Last night I gingerly ventured out to a Christmas party for the board members of the local AFTRA and Screen Actors Guild. There's a handful of us who are die hard conservatives in the sea of entertainment liberal weenies, and our dinner conversation consisted of praise for Gov. Palin, "Going Rogue" and the book tour, tea parties, and hope for 2010. What was fascinating was that others at our table joined in our conversation saying they felt they were the only ones who thought as we did and were happy to know they weren't alone. Plus, we found out that an ever growing number of people in these unions, particularly the Screen Actors Guild, are identifying themselves as conservatives. Folks, that's huge.

This "movement" that's going on is clearly bigger than I think any of us really realize. Those of us huddled together last night vowed to do whatever we can to be as active as we can in the coming months, and to be bold in our convictions. That, coming from a bunch of show business types, is nothing short of astonishing.

latinchic,  December 9, 2009 8:54 AM

I vote for the first convention to be in Alaska...in the summertime. ;-)

I also vote for moose chilli at the afterparty....hehe...

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 8:55 AM

Good morning, intrepid barbarians.  God bless.

Despite the weather in much of the country, it's another great day to be alive, American, and following the GuvWeLuv.

We've all thought it, and at times some of us have mentioned it, but it must again be exclaimed:  Sarah's dedication, determination, energy, stamina, compassion, fearlessness, love and joy, on full display day after day during her book tour, are a wonder to behold!

She may hail from an "ordinary" background, but Sarah Palin is anything but ordinary.  Praise God, Who has blessed and inspired this extraordinary, lovely person.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 8:58 AM

Splendid: thanks, Bean Counter, for sharing this fascinating and encouraging experience.

The Sleeping Giant is yawning, stirring, awakening...and will be marching on DC soon!!!

God bless you always!

BC, Reagan's Army (inside the Beltway) has the same view of America as Sarah.

And they are warming up to her.

But they got a tad bit nervous after hearing her 3rd party comment on Lars Larson.

There supposedly was an article "Lord I was born a Rambling Woman" on Real Clear Politics, but I could not find it.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:03 AM

So sorry, Beehive!!

PEC,  December 9, 2009 9:04 AM

Agree.  Their comments almost need their on post.  To have 4 C4Pers together and with Nancy basically live commenting was very special.  I think we all lived the experience through them.

Bill in Baltimore,  December 9, 2009 9:04 AM

I missed the SARC sisters comments yesterday, where can I find them ?

cookboy,  December 9, 2009 9:04 AM

And it's almost winter! But really, the EPA is the end run route to making CO2 a hazard, and their doing so will cost all of us. Call your representatives and Senators and let them know that laws made by departmental edict are bad. VERY BAD. And that they are the ones who have to fix it. They created it.

Bill in Baltimore,  December 9, 2009 9:05 AM

I was gonna say that ! Really ...

narciso,  December 9, 2009 9:05 AM

I guess that leaves Erick Erickson, which seems counterintuitive,  since he spearheaded "Operation Leper" against Nicole Wallace, and other anonymous snipers of Sarah

These folks may not be as smart as we think they are but we are not as average as we think are either.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:07 AM

Bill, first on the open thread, then on the Copenhagen thread.  I think these were the main places.  Someone can correct me if I've missed one!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:08 AM

I think there actually was one other...

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:09 AM

Going Rogue in Montana and Colorado, I think!!

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 9:10 AM

Bean Counter - very happy to see you this morning and trusting that you're recovering well.

I'll add my concern for Recovering Democrat (who is, without a doubt, recovered), though I must have missed whatever the issue is.  If someone could clue me in, I will add prayer (more effective than mere concern).

PEC,  December 9, 2009 9:10 AM

Was my answer the correct one?
Techno - On Real Clear Politics they have a Bloomberg poll.  Within it they have Palin's #s at 39-49.  Sounds bad except their last poll had her at 55% disapproval.  That is a big shift.

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 9:11 AM

Brianus - bonjour cher monsieur!

You have a ball with their comments, Bill!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:15 AM

They got so heated up, they started to melt the ices of Colorado...global, er, C4P warming!!!

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:17 AM

You'll-typo

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 9:17 AM

Thank you, good sir.  However, such a commendation would be more fairly attributed to you!

techno,  December 9, 2009 9:18 AM

I think the 46/46 poll of Palin's overall F/UF by CNN is reflective of where the country is among all potential voters, but in terms of likely voters I think the 47/42 F/UF by the recent Fox News poll sounds pretty reasonable.

To really understand how far Palin has come go back to previous polls starting in August and you will realize the reason at the time that Palin was left for politically dead.  A F/UF of 38/55 was quite common back then.

What Palin has done is truly remarkable and again only a superstar could have pulled this magnificent turnaround off in such a short period of time.

techno,  December 9, 2009 9:22 AM

GAHanson:

You got it, but for a bit of perspective go back to the archives and read the countless number posts offered in the spring which basically said that Sarah would lose all her credibility if she did not run for re-election (they did not even contemplate at that time an early resignation) and that anybody who even dared to suggest that Sarah give up being governor (including myself) was an idiot or politically naive.

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 9:22 AM

Thanks for sharing that, BC!  Agreed, this movement is gathering steam and getting...veRY BIG.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:22 AM

Thanks, my friend!!  Well, the combined eloquence and force and power--and above all prayer--of everyone here is going to help stir up a wind, nay, a whirlwind, a cleansing whirlwind, to blow obama and his cronies and the rinos right out of DC..SARAH IS COMING!!!

CharterOakie,  December 9, 2009 9:27 AM

Sarah is WAY ahead of her enemies.  They just do not comprehend whom and what they are trying to thwart.  Or maybe they do comprehend but continue...in vain.

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:33 AM

Sorry, Charter, I have held in my mind the FACT of remembering to pray for RecoveringD the last few days, but I cannot recall the issue at the moment...

Kjanlady,  December 9, 2009 9:35 AM

Good morning friends,

Comment ca va?

It's a beautiful day....the SUN is shinning....but I am a little sad...Sarah's book tour is almost over...what will we do without our daily dose of Sarah and all the wonderful side stories by C4P members.  I have noticed that our ranks seem to have grown.....new people blogging every day.   I predict that the tour will be back after some well deserved rest and some intensive hand physical therapy for Sarah.  After all, the lower 48 is huge and this tour only covered about 1/3 of the states our less if we ever dicover the extra 7 states claimed by Oblamo.  I bet that's where the 400 nonexistent congressional districts claimed on recovery.gov are.  I'm sure that ACORN has already started signing up voters in Oblamo's invisible fairyland states.

So Sarah...sending you a message....you and your wonderful family will be back home in a few days .....get your Christmas shopping done....wrap your gifts.....spend some well deserved down time with family and friends....go for a few snow machine rides with Todd.....let the beauty of Alaska restore you...then come on back down for another go....you have books to sell....people to meet.....hearts and minds to win....and liberals to drive crazy.

There are thousands of ordinary barbarians in dozens of states that want to stand in long lines for hours or days, if need be, to meet you.  Might I suggest that Southern Louisiana would be an EXECELLENT place for the start of Book Tour II...the sequel.  The weather is a little warmer than Alaska, the food is legendary, and the people exhibit La Joie de Vivre (joy of living).  We will through you a traditional Fais Do Do(party) with some zydeco music.  If you make it around Mardi Gras, we'll even make you Grand Marshall of our biggest parade.

So, how about it Sarah.  Dis-mon la verite. (Tell me the truth)  Are you game to come to the only state in the US that does not have counties?

A couple of messages from the Deep South.....Lache pas la potat ( Means Hang in There or the literal translation...Don't drop the potato)....and Laissez les bon temps souler! (Let the good times roll!)

Rasmussen daily tracking poll:

-10 (29-39) strongly approve-strongly disapprove

-4 (48-52)

From Rasmussen:

"These figures have been remarkably stable and have stayed in a narrow range between 46% and 50% (approval) every day but one for more than 2 months...an analysis by Pollster.com...found that despite identically sized three-day samples, the Rasmussen daily tracking poll is less variable than Gallup. During the Election 2008, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll was the least volatile of all those tracking the race."

Utahns waiting in line for the book signing. They expect 3,000.

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=8967511

"Dave Hansen, the state's chairman for the Utah Republican Party, tried unsuccessfully to arrange an event for Utah Republicans featuring Palin but says he was turned down.
Hansen says he sees Utah continuing to be a Mitt Romney state, even with this visit from Palin."

"The people in line Wednesday morning would like to see Utah become a Sarah Palin state. Many want her to announce her candidacy for the next presidential election"

Hansen is a Rino.

techno,  December 9, 2009 9:42 AM

Here are two disparate facts that clearly make one shake their head:

Mike Huckabee appears on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" to promote his book while on the same day 20,000 people mourn the deaths of 4 police officers by Maurice Clemmons vs the PPP reporting that Huckabee is actually doing slightly better in the a head to head matchup against Obama in a poll to be released tomorrow.

All things are possible with God: I wonder if Sarah will ever come to the San Francisco/Berkeley area?  Not likely now, but who knows what prayer can accomplish in changing at least some hearts in this sorry corner of the country, my "neck of the woods"!!

God bless you!!

Hi Kjan, I posted on the first thread above this morning. I have been watching, reading for 3 wks, having great laughs with everyone. This site is a hoot! Couldn't figure how to log on, duhhhh. They need a chat room, that would be great!

Sarah 2012! loved her book, it really humbled me, as probably everyone that has read so far!

PEC,  December 9, 2009 9:51 AM

I think you are correct techno.  In the digital age with so many people having as much access as the "so-called" experts, they are often times not as knowledgable as we are.  Take Krautenhammer.  He knows from previous experiences and that is how he draws his conclusions.  We can research and see other things in the making.  They also study all the candidates where we focus on one.  We know the setails of our candidate better than them where CK would know more about a Jindal, Romney etc.

Whitney,  December 9, 2009 9:55 AM

Brianus.Berkleianus,  December 9, 2009 9:56 AM

Hi, Guest,

We are so blessed to have Sarah in our personal lives and in the life of our country.

What overwhelmes me with wonder and gratitude is that, on the book tour, WE all suppose that we are the ones who have the honor to meet her and speak to her.  What is amazing is that Sarah truly thinks that SHE is the one who has the honor of meeting US.  And all who meet her can perceive this in her wonderful eyes and in her great, lion of a heart!!

She is a person without equal in today's world!!

I mute all the talking heads. Ya know whats funny? They think they know everything, can fix the problems of the world, whow how a campaign should be run, yet never run themselves. Talking about it is all they do. Sarah on the other had has alwasy had the spine it takes to put her words into action. The political big heads dont understand Sarah because she goes against every political playbook ever written and it makes the BIG talking heads look SMALL.

I met several people in line in both Fort Wayne, Indiana and in Columbus, Ohio who read the comments all the time here at C4P, but never post.

They were all wanted to know who I was at C4P and it went around pretty quickly that I was "defend" from C4P.  It was a topic of conversation in line.  I thought it was kinda weird and I did not have the privilege of waiting in line with others from here, so there was no one to joke about it with!

Palinism

"A surprising thing is taking place as Sarah Palin starts speaking out on the issues in recent speeches, internet postings, and in the book tour she is now undertaking for her memoir “Going Rogue.” An outline is starting to appear in respect of the substance of her world view — call it “Palinism” — and it is far more substantive than her detractors suggest or than we gained a glimpse of during the campaign. She has been, in a straightforward way, stepping up on certain issues that her fellow Republicans would do well to emulate."

You know what? The Republican party big whigs, small whigs and whigs in between seem like they still haven't woken up to the fact that people do not like the party machine. People are not lining up to meet Sarah Palin because she is a Republican, they are lining up because they see her as an American who represents their voice. The attempt by some of the Repub whigs to make her look bad because she is not carving time out of her book tour to meet with them, is kinda pathetic really. She wants to meet with the people not with the party.

COMMENT:

1) The November Quinn poll had Obama' F/UF at 48/42 three weeks ago. There are too many polls now that prove that less than 1/2 of American voters support Obama and his agenda.

2) The November Quinn poll had Obama's Indy F/UF at 43/46 three weeks ago; Obama has lost 11 points in 3 weeks, a significant dropoff confirming the open secret that independents are fleeing from the gentle hand of the Messiah.

3) The white F/UF of 38/51 confirms Rasmussen on Nov 24 who had Obama's F/UF with whites at 38/61.

4) Obama's standing with moderates at 56 F and Marist's F at 48, at odds with Obama's consistent polling in the low to mid 60's among moderates prove that Obama is being hurt by the economy.

5) Church going whites are fleeing the Messiah; perhaps they are not as CHARITABLE now as I accused them of unjustifiably being a few months ago

I slipped Sarah's Dad a Christmas card I made for them.. also My Mom asked me to give her a poem that a friend of hers wrote back before Sarah or I were even Born.  The Poem was about the despare of finding out as a Mom that your child has Down's Syndrome....then the joy that comes from it!  Much of it reflects exactly what Sarah has taked about in her own life.  It is a 46+ year old poem and the similarities are spooky!
Dad thanked me.. promised she would get it and stuck it in his back pocket...He had a huge smile on his face as did I!

What the liberals don't get, is that with all of the dems plans (healthcare, cap and tax, etc..) they will be paying more for everything. I guess they think that they are immune from a higher electric bill, higher food prices, higher everything! I just don't get it!

techno,  December 9, 2009 10:41 AM

What we need to see from Hollywood is that conservative scripts getting made as coherent, decent movies that are hard-hitting and realistic and that show individuals throughout the movie struggling with decisions based on their own morality or their environment juxtaposed to the morality or the state of the world at the time. Stop with the assumption that all conservatives are stupid, yahoos and religious extremists and stop with the assertion that all liberals are enlightened, set the Zeitgeist, and entitled to do anything they want to without suffering any negative feedback, consequences or blowback.

Surprise, surprise. Will Obama hire Steve Schmidt or Nicolle Wallace next? Maybe Andree McLeod? Perhaps that's why she continues to file these stupid ethics complaints--she wants a job in the Obama administration.

yogi41,  December 9, 2009 11:05 AM

Oh boy! The Hill has a story about $6 million in stimulus money going to Mark Penn. Remember him? Hillary's campaign manager to whom she owed about $5 million to at the end of her campaign and she couldn't pay if off? Looks like they found a way to pay him... with our money. The Hill site, for some reason, is extremely slow to load today.

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/71353-mark-penn-got-6-million-from-stimulus

"Nearly $6 million in stimulus money was paid to two firms run by Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton’s pollster in 2008.
Federal records show that $5.97 million from the $787 billion stimulus helped preserve three jobs at Burson-Marsteller, the global public-relations and communications firm headed by Penn."

BeeFL,  December 9, 2009 11:08 AM

She looks great! I'd buy it in a heart beat!

riley4palin,  December 9, 2009 11:13 AM

Perhaps that is the sweet deal that Hillary and Obama worked out before she agreed to become his Secretary of State.

The Clintons have been known for a long time to never pay off their own debt.  They always count on the rest of us to carrry their load.

This is one of many reasons why people should be very careful in throwing their undying love and support to Hillary.

I posted this in another thread -- re: Sarah and a possible third party movement...

<span>RE: Sarah and a third party -- she addressed this very issue in the interview she did with Rush for the December issue of The Limbaugh Letter.

Rush quotes a passage from her book stating that she was a registered Republican and believes in the principles of the Republican party. Then Rush asks, "Therefore, do you worry about the rumblings that I'm hearing about going to a third party and abandoning the GOP?"

Palin: "That's not a practical thing, I think, to consider.  And maybe it will disappoint some people to hear that from me. But I believe we should hold out that hope in our own GOP and understand that, again, if the principles are just applied and lived out, the Party is going to be fine. We don't have to go third party. As you mentioned, though, I'm not obsessively partisian. To me, an obessive partisan is someone who will go with the flow, who will scratch backs that are disagreeable in order ot go along to get along. I'm just not wired that way; I can't do it. But certainly I'm proud to be a Republican. Been a Republican since I registered to vote when I was 18, and I truly, sincerely believe that, yes, the planks in the platform are best to build our country."</span>

No wonder they show up afterwards or launch from two stories up.  Unless they're stupid in addition to being deranged (I'm positing a distinction), they must know that there are current and former military personnel in the lines, probably an occasional SEAL or Ranger or Marine, whose wrath and skill those losers would not want to face.

COMMENTS ON THE ABOVE RESULTS:

1) Clearly the PPP poll of moderates yields a far different result (66% F) than the M/Q (52). I would guess that PPP oversamples moderate democrats and independents and M/Q may oversample moderate Republicans.

2) PPP shows Obama's F at around 46, 47 with INDEPENDENTS while M/Q shows it now at 39 F, which is more reflective of what Rasmussen and Gallup weekly has been showing. PPP is definitely propping up Obama's indie numbers by oversampling liberal and moderate indies and undersampling a growing number of independent conservatives which ironically PPP recently showed now give Sarah Palin a 84 F.

3) Both PPP and M/Q show Obama declining among men F.

4) And surprisingly both PPP show Obama's F among whites at 38%. This is why you have to question PPP's overall F of Obama as high as 49% since white voters make up roughly 3 in 4 American voters. This should indicate that PPP undersamples white voters but PPP clearly states that in today's poll 74% of respondents claimed to be white.

5) The results of the NE, MW and West are all over the place but in the South both PPP and M/Q report Obama's F at 41.

6) Having said that the PPP result for Obama in the midwest is very interesting (40/57). If this is indeed true we may be seeing a preview of the 2012 election: Obama strong in the NE and the West and Palin solid in the Deep South and midwest except for Illinois, extending into the Rocky Mountain states.

By the way to show you how ridiculous PPP (D) has become in supporting the Obama agenda in the poll it asks who would you vote for now if an election was held between Obama and George Bush (Obama over Bush 50 to 44). Obama thinks all he has to do is to mention George Bush's name and all of sudden his polls will skyrocket.

Ipsos/Mcclatchy poll released today on Obama's job approval numbers:
                                  F                 UF
OVERALL                    49 (53)        49 (43)
DEMS                         77               21
GOP                           16               81
INDEPENDENTS           41 (45)       55 (41)

NB: That's a drop of 18 points overall in indie F/UF since the last poll done around the end of October

By the way in case you don't remember here is what CNN said about Sarah's recent standing among indies:

"INDEPENDENTS are EVENLY DIVIDED on Palin. According to the poll, 51% of men see her in a positive light, with an nearly equal amount of women view Palin in a negative way."

Now here are Obama's Indie F/UF from the last 5 polls reported in the last 2 days:

                               F                    UF
IPSOS                     41                  55
QUINNPIAC             37                  51
PPP                        46                   47
MARIST                  41                   44
GALLUP                  42

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Obama is really glad the election is 3 years off for his job.

No.  Last time Bloomberg ran their polls I asks for the details and didn't get it.  Clearly had something to hide.  Also as bad as this is their last poll had Sarah's unfavorbilities at 55%.  That is a huge drop.

The wigs are blind dunces. They don't seem to grasp that people are disgusted with them because THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE AND THEY SEEM TO THINK IT''S NORMAL! It pains me that all I can do is contact my dunderheaded elected reps and state my positions. They don't seem to care. They're in the club, and the whiskey is good, the buffet never ending.

The PPP blog now trying to make a huge point that LIBERALS, despite anecdotes to the contrary are NOT unhappy with Obama (95% approval among liberal Democrats). This is a complete red herring.

The point which I and several pollsters have been making over the last couple of months is that INDEPENDENTS have been fleeing from Obama. I don't remember reading anywhere about the Far Left deserting Obama. This is an effort to invent a story where no story existed in the first place.

Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard claims Reid does not have 60 votes to elude a filibuster on the health bill. Lieberman appears to be the fly in the ointment.

As most ordinary barbarian probably know John McCain received some funding from George Soros; while it just has been disclosed on FR that McCain was the keynote speaker at an ACORN rally re: comprehensive immigration reform in Feb 2006.

Since AlGore was stupid enough to respond, I think its time for a Facebook post regarding the complete inaccuracies and LIES regarding Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" that won him an Oscar from the Hollywood crowd.
