Cato Institute, Rush Limbaugh Critique Obama's SOTU Lecture

This is good. Our friends at the Cato Institute review Obama's SOTU performance:

(H/T Ed Morrissey at Hot Air)

Rush Limbaugh also has some words for Obama after his lecture:

Even the Obama sycophant AP found numerous problems with the whoppers he told Wednesday night. As good as these rebuttals are, none can compare to the complete evisceration Governor Palin administered to Obama yesterday evening in her tour de force response to Obama's SOTU lecture.

No one anywhere is saying what needs to be said. Nobody but that gal in Alaska.

Sarah had a great day
Rush had a great day.
And I got to write a prescription for depends for an old lady. I wish I could do it for Mr. Obama. It was a great day.

BetseyRoss,  January 29, 2010 10:45 AM

I loved Rush's take down.  "Karl Marx and Saul Alinsky are not Founding Fathers."  The best!!!!!!

Sarah's take down was organized point by point.  It was coherent and understood by all of us.  She had the speech in front of her and I am sure she made notes on each point.  Then she started pointing out the lies.  Each and every one of them.  That is why it was so good.  Like a teacher correcting her student.  We all know his mistakes, but she just put a big, red circle around each of them.

Indemind,  January 29, 2010 11:48 AM

Sorry Rush Your are the best most of the time but you come in Second Place this time.

Sarah's  Got her Night Stick.  First Place BOOOOM!

Sarah should make a video of her speech and put it on FB.

Parent to child... teacher to student... boss to employee.  All describe figures in our lives trying to teach us something of value and character for the betterment of our lives.

Astounding, when thinking about it, in regard to what has been the overwhelming theme of descriptions regarding a setting president of the United States... things we would normally hear and read of a presidents early years growing up, maybe, but!... while in office?

What the heck is happening?... we have a child, student, employee literally calling shots, who requires constant attention in the basics of <span>Growing Up!</span>

Great observation!... if this were the Daytona five hundred, she will be attending soon, she would have won by lapping the field.  Which will in all like hood happen for real when she shows up and steals that great venue.

I was laughing so hard I nearly ran my truck into a curb....

The Cato video was good except the last assessment on Iraq.  We haven't won anything in Iraq?  We've essentially replaced a Sunni dictator with a Shiite dictator?  In what universe is al-Maliki similar to Saddam?

PatrickinOH,  January 29, 2010 2:20 PM

I find it odd that the current Wasilla mayor insists it had nothing to do with Palin.  Something is definatley not right about this.

PALIN AND PERRY AT THE BERRY CENTER ON FEBRUARY 7, 2010

http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/News/Texas_News/PALIN_AT_PERRY_AT_THE_BERRY_CENTER_ON_FEBRUARY_7_2010/27340

The Berry Center's main area seats 11,000.  It looks like there is another area that can seat up to an additional 9,000.  A week ago it was on C4P that over 6,000 tickets had been distributed so far.  The other day 0bama and Biden together couldn't fill a 3,000 seat arena on the campus of the Univ of Tampa.  I'm betting that there will be at least 10,000 at the Palin-Perry event.

Dan Riehl's gone into attack mode on Sarah again.

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carnivorous_conservative/2010/01/sarah-palin-still-speaking-at-nashville-event.html

He's even gone so far as to link to thinkprogress to support his position.  It doesn't take registration to his site to comment, so you might want to tell him what you think of this story.

KentonAK,  January 29, 2010 3:59 PM

Patrick- Thanks much for this update.

One KEY quote in the update:
<span>The Report’s editor, a retired NYPD officer determined early on this crime was much more than simple arson, but instead was a six count attempted murder 1, APPARENTLY COMMITTED BY AN OUTSIDE HIRED ASSASSIN".</span>

I'd change ONE word to that statement though:
(DEFINITELY) "COMMITTED BY AN OUTSIDE HIRED ASSASSIN."

PEC,  January 29, 2010 4:01 PM

Good catch AKreport.  That means the gap is even wider and puts Sarah UF about the same as Obama's in Ill.

New User,  January 29, 2010 4:04 PM

Stop trying to stir the pot. Nobody cares about Dannyboy. Let the Cro-Magnon live in his small Riehl world where he's the big shot making all the calls. The unevolved should just be
ignored.

All you have to do is look at his sloped forehead and thick brow line. Its the obvious result of years of generational inbreeding.

Guess it's not only liberals that resort to the whine mode.......these CPAC-paid bloggers aren't worth the read or the effort.   I'd rather attack Oblamo.

PatrickinOH,  January 29, 2010 4:10 PM

Yes Kenton, that was the quote that disturbed me the most.  Any theories on who might have hired the assassin?

PEC,  January 29, 2010 4:15 PM

Agree.  With Riehl this will pass.  He is invested in CPAC and is crying like a baby because the biggest draw Palin isn't going where he is.  He can thank his good friend Keene for that who steadly blasted Palin.

MarkRNY,  January 29, 2010 4:18 PM

And "coincidentally", Rush isn't going either. Mitten will be there! Talk about your good times!

Letting You Know About Some "Better Solutions"

On Wednesday night, the president asked us to “let him know” if we had any better ideas, and today John Boehner handed him a compilation of the policy alternatives that have been advanced over the past year. These are ideas that deserve to be considered to turn down the volume on the rhetoric and use common sense. Please take a look at <span>Solutions.GOP.gov</span>. You can read the compilation of policy alternatives, called “Better Solutions,”
<span>here</span>.

- Sarah Palin

MarkRNY,  January 29, 2010 4:32 PM

LOTUS on Fire!

Kjanlady,  January 29, 2010 4:47 PM

I scanned the Better Solutions.....this is fantastic.........Oblamo and the evil twins Pukelosi/Reid can no longer claim that the Republicans have not offered ideas.....I especially love the dated letters to the Pres and the legislature offered by Reps over the last year that has been shot down by the DIMS.......now, how will the rhetoric change in Washington......Oblamo is losing the people's trust in ever increasing droves........the DIMS are in fear of eviction notices..........the tea party movement is growing stronger.....and the lies have been exposed.......wonder how Pelosi will poll vault over this......boy, has her rhetoric over the last couple of days set her up for some some great cartoons .......I see Pukelosi in a parachute trying to land .....looks down......sees a swatsika painted on the landing pad ........and sees millions of of citizens with tea party buttons on their lapels.......holding pitchforks......just a daydeam......bottom line.....Republicans have finally drawn a line in the sand and there are C-span videos of Oblamo with a copy of Better Solutions in his hands......Republicans on offense.....Dimocrats now on defense......the American voters are the sideline judges.......Sarah sings the National Anthem........now, let's play ball.....Here's hoping the American People will be declared the winners.

MarkRNY,  January 29, 2010 4:48 PM

You know, I think Sarah's the only Repub I've heard mention solutions.gop.gov on the air? Now she mentions it again. The sitting Repubs are so inept that they let O and the MSM get away with the mantra of "The Republicans are the party of no". Every Repub should have been mentioning this site every time they got in front of a camera! This is why we LOSE. Not anymore.

PEC,  January 29, 2010 4:52 PM

The GOP in Washington have the brains of an any.  They had Obama on the ropes and all this retreat did was give him the bully platform at their place and made him look bi-partisan.  Good Grief, what was the GOP looking at gaining out of this?  I think Sarah is (no change that Sarah IS) the only GOPer that can get under Obama's skin and get him off his game.

bestbud,  January 29, 2010 4:54 PM

Obama's last lecture on health care when he said he would meet with anyone meet a stone wall!

Wish Boehner good luck but don't hold your breath this going anywhere except for PR during the SOTU. The only way to assure a seat with O is to be a police officer talking to one of his friends and then at least you'll get a beer while being LECTURED!

Obama Melt-Down: Even the Huffington Post is Mocking Obama:

<span> "HUFFPOST READERS ON OBAMA: "A SECOND JIMMY CARTER"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/29/huffpost-readers-on-obama_n_439376.html

1) "While we really didn't really expect him to prove to be another Franklin Roosevelt, we did hold out hope that he might be another Harry Truman. Sadly, it's starting to look as though what we got was A SECOND JIMMY CARTER."

2) "Carter was a little better than Obama. But that ain't saying much."

3) "That is an insult to Carter. At least he wasnt an arrogant elitist Marxist like the "O" man."

4) "Yeah right! Obama makes Carter look like one of the best presidents ever. Unfair comparison. Obama will end up with less accomplishments than William Henry Harrison ."

5) "Brilliant speaker, poor political strategist, has gotten mediocre advice, and ended up making poor judgments especially about priorities. It's the economy, stupid, has never seemed so relevant. Health care was bound to be a can of worms and it sucked Congress into a hole that sees no bottom."

*Obama is very QUICKLY becoming an angry, impotent leader.
I'm closer to being EMBARRASSED for him (AND his followers) than anything else.</span>

eclecticak,  January 29, 2010 5:25 PM

The return of the "game-changer" from a while back. She is pointing out that the Republicans <span>DID</span> have suggestions that the President and Democrats swept aside, in the process exposing some of the SOTULecture's LIES.....

Kentucky Colonel,  January 29, 2010 5:27 PM

Immediately after the SOTU, Sarah said the biggest takeaway would be Alito's response to Obama's attack.  Guess what?  She was right.  It's still the biggest SOTU-related subject on the tube and the internet.

hrh,  January 29, 2010 5:46 PM

Remember back when Sarah had a FB saying to stay tuned 'cause the next day the GOP was gonna' have a BIG healthcare announcement?

And most of us were underimpressed?

I think that was the beginning of trying to show the Repubs that she WILL help them promote their commonsense solutions. She WILL use her starpower to promote their cause when they promote the planks of the Republican platform.

That's the other side of the reaching out to Dems/indies that I wrote about this morning with her tea party activities.

She's simultaneously working with both groups.

Trying to get them both to trust her.

Trying to bring them together to trust each other.

Sit back and watch a leader at work.

Actually, stand up and do your part to help her get 'er done.

Another quality of a leader is inspiring others to get involved.

hrh,  January 29, 2010 5:49 PM

Well, I went over there and left a not-very-kind comment ... Someone should have slapped me down! :)

Maybe it's time for me to back away from the keyboard ...

terri,  January 29, 2010 5:54 PM

OT....

Regarding the Tea Party Convention and the hullabulloo regarding the price and such.

Denise J,  January 29, 2010 5:59 PM

you are - you're

Kentucky Colonel,  January 29, 2010 6:02 PM

But, but, if you go to CPAC, you might get to shake Mittens' hand.  That's worth at least $1.98.

How would you rather spend your money?  Going to a meeting of people who want to take their country back, or going to a meeting of people who haven't accomplished anything for years?  No Brainer.

eclecticak,  January 29, 2010 6:03 PM

Soooooo, CPAC is generally <span>more</span> expensive than the venues featuring Lady Sarah?

From all the hoopla who'd a thunk it?

;-)

TSM Admin,  January 29, 2010 6:13 PM

Looks like youy can't do a total apples to apples comparison, but CPAC is higher in some things (the top package).  Also shows the NTPC is comparable in price - not way more expensive as some suggest.  Looks like SRLC is generaly the lowest cost.

TSM Admin,  January 29, 2010 6:15 PM

Some co-workers have called me a "master of the obvious"!

hrh,  January 29, 2010 6:35 PM

Fantastic comment on FR regarding the PPP poll:

"As an Alaskan, I believe most people up here wish she was still in charge; you could trust that the decisions she made did benefit the Alaskan People. We have had a history of corruption related to the oil Industry that transcended both Repubs & Dems. Palin put a stop to that garbage quick and the people knew she was above reproach.

Now Parnell is the gov, they are back to talking about adjusting oil taxes and you can just see all the corruption coming back.

WE had a 500 year flood take out half our community last spring at ice out on the Yukon. Palin flew in, visited the community, no photo-op either; she walked around by herself, no camera crew like I saw dem phoney Tony Knowles at Mentasta after the 7.9 shaker nov 3rd 02. The road was washed out and us locals had a atv mud bog trail to get out to this side of town & Indian Village. Palin threw a coat over her good clothes and jumped on a 4wheeler and rode out that trail herself just so she could talk to the Indians and Whites that lived out this way; nice touch;;; but that's the real deal Palin.

People up here figure It'll be another generation until we get a honest political up here again; they'd take Sarah Palin back in a minute; you can take that to the bank."

eclecticak,  January 29, 2010 7:38 PM
