How Much Time is Left in Gilbert Arenas' Career as a Wizard/Open Thread (Update: CO Gov Ritter (D) to Retire? Dodd (D) to Retire)
-My only quibble with the most recent Facebook post from the People's Governor is that she seems to give Obama credit for being a "constitutional law professor." Lynn Sweet notes that Obama was lying when he claimed to hold such a title.
-Michael Steele has a new book out and the Associated Press reports that "[o]ne Republican who escapes the RNC chief's intraparty criticism is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the party's 2008 vice-presidential candidate. Then again, judging from the book's index, the popular Mrs. Palin is not mentioned at all in what the publisher calls Mr. Steele's 'call to arms for grass-roots America.'" (emphasis added).
-Palin/Barbour '12?
-"[Rick Perry's] populist, anti-government definition of himself is one that has more in common with Sarah Palin than it does with George W. Bush" by resonating with the emerging tea-party movement.
-The big political news of the day is that Democrat Bryan Dorgan of North Dakota has decided against running for re-election. Republicans are now overwhelmingly favored to pick up this seat.
I give Gilbert Arenas two more weeks as a Washington Wizard (though I completely agree that the gun laws in the District of Columbia are ridiculous and that law-abiding citizens should have the right to carry firearms into the District of Columbia).
Update: Governor Ritter (D) of Colorado will allegedly not run for re-election.
Update #2: Bad news, Chris Dodd (D) of Connecticut has decided to retire as well. Republicans probably needed him to stay in to win this seat.

Steele and the rest of the GOP are the real "deniers" in that they deny Sarah's political power and hope she will just go away.
The other "leaders" of the Republican Party seem to be cowering, mumbling:
The American dream, speaking, if America dies, it dies.
Politically speaking, if I die, I won't fight.
Ya know, it is a blessing, that there is no "leader" of the tea party movement, because, all of these politicians and pundits and talking heads, ridicule the American people. If there was a leader, they would be out front taking all the shots. This is an all out, for everybody to see, war on a large swath of the American people.
That is not good.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Where it is blatantly marginalizing, pushing aside, trampling, and being openly hostile to the American people.
You can make fun of Clinton, Bush, Palin, but to have the elites, Hollywood, legislators and even the President just laughing in the American peoples' faces, is suicidal for them.
Has Botox seeped into Pelosi's brain? Look at the sidebar.
"There has never been a more open process."-Nancy Pelosi
THAT has got to be the Botox talking.
DefCon66,
I think we are the only ones here.
Why am I whispering?
I think Sarah is probably the "unofficial leader" of the Tea Party Movement.
If she isn't now, she will be by the end of February.
I agree. Arenas is done! What was he thinking?
You know its bad when even Al Sharpton won't defend u.
Tommy,
If I understand Palin's Facebook post at "Face value" ; you could take the meaning of "Constitutional Lawyer" at face value. If Obama actually was a Copnstitutional Lawyer, He would be a Constitutional Lawyer who believes in the "Living and Breathing Stand-up Comic Constitiution". Not a strict Constructionist.
i.e. I guess yoiu can call Kevorkian a Doctor of Medicine, I guess you can call Wright a Pastor.
Minnesota,
i was being tongue-in-cheek. I just wanted to call obama a liar, he heh.
So Rasmussen has the GOP at 44-35 over the Dems in the Generic Congressional ballot and Dorgan has announced he is not running for re-election, Crist's guy Jim Greer has resigned as chairman and Lindsey Graham was censured again in SC. Good news for the GOP in spite of folks not really warming up to the GOP as Rasmussen maintains, but that unaffiliated/independent voters are growing leaps and bounds. Interesting dynamic.
Every time I play the "America Rising" video, it comes up but doesn't play, just spins.
Any good links ?
Ritter now retiring. Boy they're dropping like flies!
Orange bowl tonight. Yawn!

Regarding CO gov Ritter -- not sure if he will decline to run for re-election. If so the Cory Voorhis scandal is probably the final nail in the coffin. Local talk show host Peter Boyles has dogged this story for 2 years. Read more here http://rossputin.com/blog/index.php/federal-corruption-and-cover-up-in-the-prosecution-of-cory-voorhis-part-1
Sarah Palin is the unofficial leader of the Tea Party Movement. Everybody knows it and that is what makes Palin so scary.
I don't think King George was this hostile to the American people.
Tea Party people need to bring forth leaders who can run for these offices.
I predicted last week that a) there would be a Happy New Year FB posting from Sarah, and b) a big announcement on Monday. I was wrong. My gut instinct failed me, though in my defense, I've been trying to lose weight so my gut has less capacity for wisdom than it did previously. Anyway, you are welcome to cyber-kick me in the pants.
You do know what Botox is, right? It's an extract of botulism toxin. I can't believe things will end well for people who have this injected into their bodies.
Ha Ha!

Hey all, I guess that wasn't my last self-promotion, so HERE it is
Please pass this around, especially to radio talk show hosts.
I documented on one web-page the entire Going Rogue Book Tour
I just added tonight a slide show as well.
The site acts as a testament to the tour-de-force that this event was.
It's also good for
- Palin fan(atics) for a good Palin fix
- research for fans and PDS'ers
- those curious about SP
- those new to the 'net
Please go and leave a comment !
Big Ten is coming up big in the bowl season. Iowa looks pretty dominant early.
I know you don't care what I think, but I have a suggestion. Ms. Palin should discount the people on her facebook who are calling for harassment of judges in Alaska. This is going to get very ugly, and she is probably the only one who can stop it.
Interesting read if you click on Sweets article regarding OB's book. The comments too are interesting. I am wondering why it took OB 8 years to get a law degree after graduating from Columbia??? Isn't that a long time frame.....isn't it more like 4 years???
Juju,
Actually no. Most of the people I attended law school with were in their early 30s. So it's not unusual that Obama waited eight years after college to attend law school.
Sandra, finally, you and I agree:
I don't care what you think, not one iota.
you idiot.
Bill: would you please look up the definition of Idiot? Being able to construct complete sentences would be beyond the capabilities of an idiot.
Sandra,
I fail to see how the story that you are talking about relates to Palin. She has not commented on the case herself and has done nothing to encourage what you find troublesome.
Tommy, at tomorrow's C4P lunch meeting, can you recommend to ban Sandra ?
thanks.
Heh.
Ritter the Quitter.
Isn't this her official page? If not, I stand corrected. I thought she had control of it.
It is not unusual to work for a while before returning for an advanced degree. I got my BA when I was 21 and waited until I was 34 to work on graduate degrees. It is actually helpful to work for a while after the bachelor's degree. I always counseled students to wait and get some worldly wisdom. To stay in school without a break doesn't help as much as a break does.
Sandra,
Palin has no connection at all to this blog despite what you have heard.
True.
But she isn't saying it.
So, it looks horrible that these elites are turning a deaf ear to te American people.
Not good.
Not this blog. I was refering to the facebook page.
sandra, I don't need to look up the definition of idiot. I have you to refer to.
Sandra,
She has nothing to do with the comments made on her Facebook post.
yes... sandra... i think a break is what we need.
ha-ha
What jobs do all of these Democrat resigners have lined up?
Peter Boyles did a great job in keeping that in the news!
Eddie Burke is doing a similar stint with Begich!
Cudos to both of them!
Another informed lefty! Yes We CAN!
Golfing with Tiger!
sandra, How many times have you told us about your schooling?
Is Reid next?
sandra, They could be trolls.
I'm sorry Nancy I was troll hunting as well as staying on the other thread so I missed your post.
Try clicking on the HD Bill.
Hopefully not. We want Reid to stay in there.
