Stand Up for HillBuzz!

We owe Cynthia Yockey great thanks for alerting us to this: the Left's personal-destruction machine, which we've seen cranked to such a fever pitch against Gov. Palin, has added another target to its list. Long-time readers of this blog will be familiar with HillBuzz; for those who aren't, here's Yockey's thumbnail sketch:

Hill Buzz is written by a group of gay men in Chicago who began the blog in early 2008 as part of their efforts on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Thanks to experiencing the dirty tricks of the Obama campaign up close and personal during the primaries, as soon as the Democratic nomination was stolen from Hillary, they became supporters of John McCain. They blogged, campaigned, phonebanked and donated money for McCain/Palin with unbounded zeal and passion.

They didn't stop there, either. These guys, though solid supporters of the Democratic Party to that point (as one would expect of a self-described "bunch of gay guys from Boystown"), decided to fight back against the takeover of their party by its radical left wing; they also, in the process, became big fans of Sarah Palin, which is why we've linked them any number of times. They have been strong, wise, and very creative allies in the fight against those who would destroy the Governor. (For instance, after Letterman made his vile "jokes" about her and her daughter, they fired off a whole bunch of posts on how to put pressure on CBS for Letterman's statements.) Nor in fact did they stop there; they also went all-in for Scott Brown in Massachusetts, including all sorts of posts exhorting Republicans on what to do after State Sen. Brown won the election to keep the Democrats from stealing the victory.

As a result . . . well, I'll let them tell it:

Without getting into the ugly details and specifics, because we’re trying to cling to some semblance of privacy and a personal life here, we were warned two weeks ago to discontinue our support for Republican candidate Scott Brown or suffer consequences for backing him, at the expense of Martha Coakley. We were told, point blank, by Democrats in Chicago that people on the Left had “had enough with (us), and were going to come after (us), in a big way” if we didn’t stop rallying the troops for Scott Brown’s win over Coakley. We were given the ultimatum: either drop our support for Brown and the Left would leave us alone, or continue speaking out on Hottie McAwesome’s behalf and “just see what happens”.

[. . .]

We told you previously that a main reason we aggressively backed Brown for the Senate seat was because of the way Democrats conducted themselves in the week before Christmas. Perhaps it was Christmas itself that really brought the fire out in us, since we were so disgusted Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emanuel, and the current president were so shameless as to use CHRISTMAS, and the distraction it naturally causes, as cover to ram through an unconstitutional piece of legislation riddled with pork, graft, and corruption that few in this country seem to want. That repulsed us.

We were further sickened by the fact that Demcorats insisted on handling this legislation in the dead of night, behind closed, locked doors, with no cameras in sight, rushing to vote on it at breakneck speed before Christmas Eve.

This is not how legislation this complex and world-changing should be handled. This is not how the United States Senate should operate. Regardless of what you think about healthcare reform, as an American, we don’t know how you could support EITHER party behaving this way with legislation that has such a vast and unprecedented impact on our economy, at a time when so many we know are out of work, and so many Americans’ jobs are hanging by threads. This healthcare bill should have been written in sunlight, after spirited debate not only in the Senate, but in town halls across the country where Americans of all stripes could have come together and, after much thought and consideration, devised a plan that would work for this nation. Something we could afford. Something we could pay for. Something that would not bankrupt us and cross the unconstitutional line of forcing, for the first time in history, citizens to purchase products against their personal will and free choice.

But, that’s not how the 60 Democrats in the Senate chose to conduct themselves.

That’s when all 60 of these people lost our support.

[. . .]

So, we looked to candidate Scott Brown, and his promise to defeat this monstrous Healthcare Rationing bill, and we knew we had to go all-in for him. Even if that meant, as we were warned here in Chicago, that the Left would come after us.

Now, we were naive to think these people were either bluffing, or were exaggerating. Honestly, we thought the extent of the attacks would be more of the same thing these people usually do, which is to say bad things about this site, to fill our voicemails up with nasty messages, to send more hatemail to our email telling us how much they want us to get AIDS and die, or how they’re going to find us in Boystown and beat us up. These are the people who threw rocks through our windows in 2008 because we had Hillary Clinton posters in them, and who’ve called us racists consistently for not supporting Dr. Utopia, as either a candidate or the Socialist in Chief he is now. That’s what the Left does to anyone who defies them: they call you a racist, harass you, and threaten violence against you.

They really crossed a line this time, though. They are no longer just attacking the entity that is “HillBuzz”, but those at the Daily Kos, DemocraticUnderground, Moveon.org and other George Soros, DNC-backed troll mills have ratcheted up their attacks to the personal level.

[. . .]

But, the Kossacks and Moveon.organisms have decided to attack us on the personal, not just the site, level. They are using some of our real names, urging their members to do us personal and physical harm in our real lives, and calling us racists over and over again in the hopes of making us unemployable in the future — because they’ve libeled us by calling us RAAACISTS! on that personal level.

And, you know what, this tactic does have an immediate psychological and financial impact. This weekend, after these attacks from the Kossacks and Moveon.organism began, we lost two freelance jobs because the nonprofits we were working with felt they can’t be associated with people who are being called racists, since these nonprofits work in the black community and here in Chicago there is a neverending turf war on the Southside, where anything is game when it comes to business or politics. People who’ve worked with us in the past decided their own jobs would be in jeopardy if they had us on upcoming projects, because if the black community was riled up against these organizations for having people called RAAACISTS! on the team, then their own jobs would be lost. The way it works is this: if you have a job in the black community, there is always someone out there who wants that job instead of you, and that person will look for any sort of hook to yank you from that job so they can take it. This RAAACIST garbage is always a favorite hook.

And it is the chief weapon of the Left against just about everyone.

They’ve been using this for decades now.

They use it to scare people into silence. They force people to drop what they are doing and spend hours defending themselves, trying to prove they’re not what they were accused of. They demoralize you with the RAAACIST rants, and try to ruin your lives with them. They cost you work, take food off your table, and threaten your personal safety and well being.

The Left did this to the Clintons in 2008.

The Left does this to Sarah Palin.

The Left has done this to too many people to ever count.

The Left is doing this to us now, on a personal level, because we backed Scott Brown, came up with the Hottie McAwesome tactic to defuse their best attacks against him, and refused to buckle and shut up when we were told to.

Now, we were told by several good friends not to talk about any of this, and not to write a post like this taking this on directly. We were also advised to “just stop writing” and all of this would go away eventually. There was even one Democrat who advised us, “if you just stop, and close down the site, I’ll see to it that Kos and the others remove what they are saying, and we’ll help you clean things up on Google”. That sure felt like extortion to us.

This is really what Democrats have become at this point.

The party we loved our whole life has been taken over by thugs, who threaten, libel, malign, persecute, and extort anyone who does not fall in line with their Liberal-Socialist agenda. We’ve been on the receiving end of this harassment since November of 2007, when we started campaigning in Iowa for Hillary Clinton and first found ourselves on the receiving ends of Alinsky Method techniques. All of that increased 10, 100, and 1000 fold after we launched this site, started up Democrats for McCain efforts after Hillary suspended her presidential bid in June 2008, and we started actively promoting Sarah Palin as America’s best hope for the future in 2009.

You know what, folks? There's a word for what's being done to these people: evil. And I think it reveals that all the Left's big talk about "toleration" is as hollow as their talk about "equality for women" and "racial equality": it only applies if you stay on the reservation. If you're a woman, or gay, or black (or all of the above), and you start to be a threat to their political power, well, the gloves come off and it's no quarter. And so, we have the situation to which Yockey alerted us:

The Daily Kos and Democratic Underground have outed Kevin DuJan as the owner of the blog, Hill Buzz. They are smearing him with the false charge that that he is a racist. They are urging their readers to destroy his career and attack him physically.

[. . .]

The Right blogosphere should rally to the aid of DuJan and Hill Buzz, as he has tirelessly rallied to ours with dozens of posts teaching Republicans how to campaign effectively and supporting Republicans, including Gov. Sarah Palin and now Sen.-elect Scott Brown.

[. . .]

Kevin DuJan and Hill Buzz need our support. We MUST push back against FALSE charges of racism because Lefties will use it to destroy innocent people as long as it keeps working. Certainly if we do not hang together on this, we will hang separately.

That's really the bottom line. Calling Kevin DuJan and the rest of the HillBuzz boys racists is completely and ridiculously unwarranted—just read the blog, if you have any doubts. The basis for these charges, as far as I can tell, is a) they've refused to toe the PC "Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam" line; b) they've asked the very un-PC question, what happens if the first U.S. President of African descent ends up being a failure in office (a question which could prove to be quite important); and c) they don't think Barack Obama is wonderful.

In other words, the charge of racism against DuJan and his associates isn't being made because it's fair, it's being made because a) they've been effective and the Left hasn't been able to out-argue them on the evidence, and b) when you live on the South Side, being labeled a racist is personally and professionally ruinous. As they said,

We cannot let this pass; we cannot afford to let it succeed. They have stood with us, and we need to stand with them. We will be doing that, by countering these slanderous and libelous accusations, by standing up and saying that Kevin DuJan and HillBuzz are not and never have been racist; but that isn't enough. This kind of accusation, because of its real-world consequences, has to be taken seriously as slander and libel and fought accordingly—and as such, HillBuzz needs money to keep fighting this leftist thuggery. We've raised money before to fight these sorts of tactics, when they were aimed at the Governor; I encourage you to go to the site and consider helping out HillBuzz. Fight the bullies. They tried to destroy Gov. Palin, now they're trying to destroy some of her allies; don't let them win. Let's stand up with our brothers, and be counted.

As long as Michelle Obama wears dresses stained in cat piss, I will support Hillbuzz.

I love Hillbuzz! I will help with a donation, but I wish there was something MORE we could do. We need to expose the vipers who are trying to destroy them.

VIVA HILLBUZZ BOYS  and ...

VIVA SARAH !

Wow. That's all I can say! These attacks are ridiculous.

As these guys are fellow Illinoisans, I salute these guys for taking such a stand against the Chicago political machine now also residing in DC.

ReaganTMan,  January 23, 2010 1:42 AM

Apparently, when gay people tow the Democrat line, the Democrats are all for them. But if gay people don't tow the line, then they are outed and they are smeared, too. Maybe what they want us to believe is the "gay agenda" is just the Democrat agenda that uses gay people the same way they use women to say they support "women's rights" or the way they use poor people to say government needs to take care of them. It's all demagoguery.

It's good to see that people of all faiths, creeds and sexual orientations are latching onto the fact that big government and liberal smear campaigns are why the Democrats are losing power.

They mistake Democratophobia for racism and homophobia.

This might be the break through we're looking for. Liberalism is being exposed for the intellectually bankrupt ideology that it really is. The party of segregation that now claims to have championed the black cause is also the party that claims to champion gay rights even as they strong arm gays. It looks like the party is regressing. Let me correct that. It looks like the Democrat party is showing it's true colors.

Thanks for posting this. I was just about to encourage every barbarian here to pitch in and help our HillBuzz buddies when you took the words right out of my mouth, Rob.

We stand together!

Canary,  January 23, 2010 2:20 AM

i have three suggestions:

1) Some C4Pers who may know or have access to the gov pleăse let her know this. If she just read this, she will know.

2) They can work for the team that will work with Gov for the Fox documentary.  Hillbuz people are artsy and knowledgeable, they write wonderfully. They will be paid by Fox to do something that they do best expose the leftist and promote the right

3) Gov can refer them to the Illinois campaign: Andrzejewski may need help for his run.

On top of that we can also pray for them and donate for them.

4) Someone who know Glenn/BOR please make sure they know Pinhead on BOR and a full exposure on Glenn. either radio or TV show.  They will have a LOT of help!!

PS I wrote BOR manytimes but no answer.

We stand together. My dear friends, communists in Vietnam do exactly this to the people standing up against them.  One famous movie director in VN was having a contract to make TV movies. She wrote blogs against the govt, she lost her contract and people treated her like pariah, afraid of hiring her for anything. She ended up living Vietnam to live in Norway as a political refugee, 2009 story.

LEFTIST = socialist = communist = they will not stop at anything.

Canary,  January 23, 2010 2:30 AM

living vietnam = leaving

LJ,  January 23, 2010 2:52 AM

This may be inappropriate to bring this up, but I have been both an avid Hillbuzz reader and C4P reader. I feel exactly the same way these guys do. I was a staunch Hillary supporter and saw how the left tore and destoryed her and as soon as Palin became the nominee, I saw the same ruthless tactics. I am only 23, but was blindly Democratic until last year's election. I now consider myself an independent and feel that both sides have good ideas, but we need to work from the middle.

My problem is this. I read and own "Going Rogue," visit this website every day, DVR all Sarah Palin appearances I can find but I am hung up on thing. Like the Hillbuzz boys, I am gay. I feel as if the Democratic Party just uses my sexual orientation, like you said to promote their false ideology. However, Sarah feels that marriage should be between one man and one woman, as she said in her book. It is the only thing with which for her, I disagree on. I do not believe I am a second class citizen and if I have a loving relationship with my partner, I believe I should be allowed the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. I did not choose to be this way, I was simply born the way I was and God loves me for that.

I want to support Sarah, and for the most part I am with her. But I would hope that if the people of the United States, if held to a vote, decided to allow gay marriage she would let it stand. I feel as if that is what she did in Alaska, she put her personal beliefs aside in favor of what the people wanted. And that is one of the main things I adore about her. Perhaps one day, if I meet her, I can discuss with her this....but I just hope it's not a bad idea to support Sarah. I would hope she would appreciate my support, just as she would any other heterosexual person. If I am law-abiding, tax paying citizen, I would just hope Sarah would treat me equally. Especially if she is going to be the first female President one day.

So my question to you all is this, how can I justify my support for her, when every other Democrat friend says I'm crazy and if that she had it her way, I would be burning in hell. On election day 2012, I want to go in that booth confident that Sarah has my back. Because I know Obama definitely does not.

Any thoughts?

cookboy,  January 23, 2010 8:10 AM

They're out in the open. The current administration. Seen on TV every day.

cookboy,  January 23, 2010 8:19 AM

Your democrat friends are at best misguided. And you are treated equally. A square has four sides of equal length and four right angles, a circle is round, and marriage, by definition, is a union of a man and a woman. Ones sexual orientation is not license to redefine language. That said, you and any life partner you may choose should enjoy the same benefits and suffer the same penalties as any married couple.

cookboy,  January 23, 2010 8:26 AM

Hell yeah!

kcarpenter,  January 23, 2010 8:28 AM

Hmm.  I see this is your first time commenting on this site.  Thanks for that.

You are right, It is  highly inappropriate to be posting this in a post supporting Hillbuzz.  Obviously if anyone at Hillbuzz thought Governor Palin wanted them to burn in hell, like your Democrat friends are telling you, they too would not be supporters of the Governor.

Clearly all of the evidence in her book and her governance shows that Governor Palin supports equal rights for all American citizens as our Constitution states.  Since you read the book, I am certain that you are aware that Governor Palin struck down/vetoed a law passed by the previous state legislature that she felt would damage equal treatment of gays.  This was one of her first acts as governor, to the consternation of the Republican state legislators.  The Governor supported the Constitution and the legislation was in defiance of the Constitution.

Since you read her book, I am certain you took notice of Governor Palin's dearest friend and college roomate who is gay and fully supported and loved by the governor.  I am pretty certain that Governor Palin does not want her friend to burn in hell.

You are right that this was inappropriate and in no way does anything to help and support our brothers at Hillbuzz.

Do not hijack this post.  This post is about whether or not you will support Hillbuzz against these very same Democrat friends that are telling you Governor Palin wants you to burn in hell.

Will you support Hillbuzz or not?

Kentucky Colonel,  January 23, 2010 8:49 AM

LJ, the Boyz' position is that they don't push for gay marriage, but instead, for civil unions.  This is consistent with the position taken by Clinton, Bush 43, Obummer, Palin, et al.  The Boyz recognize that marriage is rooted in religious doctrine and all they want is a formal union recognized by the state.  They have repeatedly said that fighting for "gay marriage" is a non-starter.

kcnut,  January 23, 2010 8:55 AM

i pray for the hillbuzz guys. obama your messing with the wrong people.

Canary,  January 23, 2010 10:39 AM

C4Pers,

I am sounding like a broken cassette again but what being done to HillBuzz folks are no different that what the COMMUNIST thugs in govt in Vietnam are CURRENTLY doing to the people there.Heck, they can even make a Catholic Bishop resigned from the Bishop's work.  That's the work of God that you do until you can no longer do it physically. Most bishops (or above) will ask for Vatican's permission to 'retire' at age 79 or 80. The Pope is 80 and is working. Bishop Kiet of Hanoi Vietnam retired at age 57!!!!  That's what a government will do when they have power, no check and balance and they control your life.

http://www.vietcatholic.org/News/Clients/ReadArticle.aspx?ID=73753

American people'd better wake up!!!  I wish Glenn will do a show about "how the extreme left terminate their opposition".  I will email Glenn.

Canary,  January 23, 2010 10:52 AM

LJ,
Obama is also for marriage between man and woman, as it is the view of the majority of people in the USA, as this current time. So if you could support Obama having that view, I think you can support the Gov too.  I have a great friend in the choir in church, he is the nicest, polite young man I know. He has a great voice.  He is gay.   I have absolutely no problem with him. But if I am asked about definition of marriage, I will say that it's between man and woman too.  I know it must be uncomfortable to feel that you are second class citizens but you are not. I respect your post very much. I think it's just the rule of democracy. When the majority says something, we just have to abide by.

59 millions of people voted for McCain/Palin which I think is the better ticket for the country. But they all have to abide by the rules set by the 69 millions people voting for Obama.  There are many things that we don't agree with. But the majority have the vote.

I think until the majority of people in the US accept that marriage is between more than a man and a woman you can give your support to Gov Palin, because, as you said it yourself, the Dems only 'used' you for your vote, their president, when asked, also said the same (not because he has conviction like Gov Palin, but because he is afraid of losing the votes of the majority of the people).

LJ, continue to support Gov Palin. I know that my gay friend support Gov Palin, I lend the GR book to him and he changed camp since then, he will vote for Gov Palin if she runs, without asking anything. He told me so and that's why I feel bold enough to write this to you.

LJ,  January 23, 2010 12:10 PM

Thank you for your polite and thoughtful responses. I too agree that the term marriage is very much set in religion, and I have always said that I didn't care what anyone called gay people being allowed by law to marry, I just want the same rights and to be protected under the same laws of two other people who decide to commit their lives to one another. This has pissed off a lot of my gay/democratic friends fighting for marriage equality but I believe the term "marriage equality" is an argument that is getting the movement nowhere. But, if Gov Palin can let the will of the people lead, and use her common sense conservatism to help fix this economy, I am most certainly going to support her, no matter what. I don't see her as someone who is going to go out of her way to deny me anything. Again, thank you all for your responses.

And Kcarpenter, I do sense some hostility. But yes, I am certainly a supporter of Hillbuzz and I have certainly read Going Rogue and bought my mother and grandmother a copy for Christmas. And yes, I know about the gay friend and the legislation which I believe she discusses on page 143. And after much thought, I do think this is an appropriate forum to question both the motives of Hillbuzz/Palin supporters as I'm sure one could see the conflict of interest it presents.

And if you went on the Times magazine website where they ask people in Times Square in NYC who should be person of the year, yours truly provides Sarah Palin as a response. I'm the young man in the video.

MaxTruth,  January 23, 2010 2:03 PM

First let me say I hope nothing further happens to these guys.

But wouldn't it be sweet irony if on the behalf of HillBuz, the ACLU would sue Daily Kos and Moveon.org under the new Hate Crimes law?

T D,  January 23, 2010 2:53 PM

I just gave.  Political thugs have to be fought.

Nancy,  January 23, 2010 3:07 PM

LJ,
Thanks for your comments!
I just wanted to say, Governor Palin does not want you to burn in hell! She wants just the opposite for you!:) She wants you to have life, abundant life, and an all time life with Someone Who loves you more than anyone will ever love you!:)
You are awesome!
Thank you for supporting Governor Palin!

happymullah,  January 23, 2010 5:23 PM

I have been commenting on C4P since last June(?) and I can tell you that on occasions I would mention that I am an independent/libertarian who SUPPORTS gay marriage.
I am also a loyal supporter of Sarah because at heart she's independent/libertarian like me.

VIVA SARAH !

happymullah,  January 23, 2010 5:31 PM

I have always supported gay causes and have always felt that we, as a nation, should overcome this last hurdle, which is that gay marriage should be legalized. It's a civil rights issue.

VIVA SARAH !

kcarpenter,  January 23, 2010 5:53 PM

If you would like to discuss this, then do it on a open thread.  That is all I am saying.  I do not want this thread hijacked.  Our brothers need our help, not a debate on gay marriage.

Feel free to post this on a open thread.  I am certain that plenty of people will be happy to discuss this with you.
