Governor Palin in Redding, California

Governor Palin received an enthusiastic and raucus response welcome today in California. Doni Greenberg at Anewscafe.com has a report from Redding where Governor Palin addressed the Sierra Logging Conference:

Sarah Palin received a rock star’s welcome at the Sierra Cascade Logging Conference where she spoke before the first of two sold-out shows at the Redding Convention Center this afternoon.

That’s 4,000 people who paid between $54 for a balcony seat to $74 for a floor seat. I had a floor seat - second row, so near the tower of speakers that I followed the example of people around me and wadded tissue in my right ear to reduce the volume.

Even so, I heard every word and felt the crowd’s jostling adoration as they cheered and applauded throughout Palin’s speech.

The audience, still euphoric from the Official California Cowboys’ final song, “I’m Proud to Be an American” (where many sang along and shouted “Stand UP!” in unison at the song’s pivotal moment), was already on its feet when Palin was introduced.

The crowd applauded as Palin strode on stage waving and smiling as she took her place behind a lectern before a mammoth American flag in a stars-and-stripes-draped auditorium.

She began by acknowledging veterans’ sacrifices, and asked everyone who’d ever served in the military to stand for a heroes’ recognition.

After that, she read from a prepared speech, heavily peppered with Palin lingo that delighted the audience.

Loud laughter followed Palin’s references to “lame-stream media” and jeers accompanied every reference to global warming. Enthusiastic boos followed a reference to Nancy Pelosi.

She endeared herself to the logging conference crowd by holding her hand up to show what was written on the palm of her hand: “Loggers rock!” - an apparent dig at “lame-stream media” who recently ridiculed her for writing memory prompts on her hand. And toward the end of her talk she complimented logging industry folks when she referred to an administration that talks about green jobs.

It looks like Governor Palin is having a lot of fun tweaking the mainstream media with her hand notes. Read the rest here.

Sarah Palin is having a ball these days. Its fun to watch. And it sounds like the attendees are enjoying themselves too. She is doing great.

Lakerfanalways, February 8, 2010 11:13 PM

Sarah is a GENIUS..what the Truck did for Scott Brown writing little notes on the hand is working for Sarah Palin..people should show up at events and have written on their hand "Sarah 2012" on it

Whitney the Pipsqueak, February 8, 2010 11:13 PM

How far is Redding from wherever Mia lives? Did she go MIA to see Sarah?

Beehive, February 8, 2010 11:14 PM

Did we get any reports out of Houston?

I'm giddy with excitement, folks!

We got a PALIN REVOLUTION on our hands ;)

CruelaDev, February 8, 2010 11:15 PM

I still say she should draw a picture of the White House on her hand...with 2012 below it! Whether she runs or not...My GOD could you imagine the Heartburn! Remind me to call my stock guy in the AM to but stock in TUMS and Pepto!

This is all I could find so far..

HOUSTON—Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin helped pack the Toyota Center Monday. This came after a weekend where she grabbed a lot of national headlines. She spoke at the Tea Party Convention in Nashville on Saturday, and then stumped for Governor Rick Perry in Cypress on Sunday. She also caused a stir by admitting she hasn’t ruled out running for president in 2012.

But Monday, it was all about getting motivated. Palin was one of the big-name speakers in a list that included General Colin Powell and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. It was called the “Get Motivated Seminar.”

But, a lot of people found it hard to get motivated, because they were stuck in traffic.

“I wanted to listen to Sarah Palin, but the traffic was so bad that nobody was able to listen to Sarah Palin, at least in our car, and probably hundreds of other cars,” says Val Quella.

The event caused major traffic gridlock downtown, and the ripple effect could be felt on a number of freeways around the city.

At the seminar itself, 11 News video cameras were not allowed in to photograph Palin’s address. But Anthony Murungi of Houston says Palin was well-received.

“She was wonderful, “says Murungi. “She gave a very motivational speech. She had great words, friendly to the crowd, we liked her.

Whitney,
I asked her last week and she said she wasn't going...Haven't seen her around for a few days...

Ashley, February 8, 2010 11:19 PM

Ohhhh I freaking love her! She is good, very clever. This should be a signature thing with her!

PatrickinOH, February 8, 2010 11:20 PM

Ok I had to stop copying and pasting, I was starting to have technical issues. And I think I went back a thread and didn't notice it so I was posting tweets in a older thread, I was wondering where all my effort had gone, I was like WTF? Then I realized my mistake.

Nancy, February 8, 2010 11:20 PM

Beehive,
I don't know where Mia is, sorry!

Lakerfanalways, February 8, 2010 11:21 PM

She is going to use this to her advantage..this can work for her like the truck worked for Scott Brown..every time she appears somewhere she can have little notes on her hand..it will be SO awesome..brilliant idea

Andrew, February 8, 2010 11:30 PM

She certainly is enjoying this hand writing joke on the media. Makes me think the writing on her hand at the Tea Party convention was intentional to start it going.

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:33 PM

Sarah has turned this whole faux-scandal into her advantage, hasn't she? Now she will have something written on her hand at every stop … it will become a new way of broadcasting her message. Everyone will want to know what she wrote on her hand, and it will all be a giant kick in the groin to the liberal loonies who can’t stand someone as unpredictable and honest and happy as Sarah.

I think Hillbuzz is right. Sarah will win because she fights back with good humor and turns negatives into positives.

PatrickinOH, February 8, 2010 11:34 PM

If that happens Mitchell will dissolve into dust.

Whitney the Pipsqueak, February 8, 2010 11:34 PM

Interesting. Had there not been "handgate", the media would be attempting to tear apart her speech, instead they're focusing on what she had written on her hand. A shrewd distraction? An unintentional distraction? It doesn't matter, but I will say that it's hilarious. :)

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:34 PM

NASCAR Rocks!

Nancy, February 8, 2010 11:34 PM

Now, what would be awesome, is if she would be at an event around her birthday, and people could write "Happy Birthday, Sarah!" on their hands and hold them up for her to see!

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:35 PM

Ashley, I want your avatar, girl!! :-)

CruelaDev, February 8, 2010 11:37 PM

How about a picture of a Jackass with a line threw it....on her palm...

Lakerfanalways, February 8, 2010 11:38 PM

Sarah should write this on her hand next time "Greenspan sucks" that's a special message for Andrea Mitchell

CruelaDev, February 8, 2010 11:38 PM

Oh.. I am liking that! Maybe we should all do that...

Taxman, February 8, 2010 11:39 PM

I was wondering that also. It shows how absurd the media is. And last July they went off on how Sarah Palin would be irrelevant - I wish I was 1/10th as irrelevant as Sarah Palin!

Andrew, February 8, 2010 11:40 PM

The media can't tear apart her speech, which is why they're focusing on the hand.

Dan C, February 8, 2010 11:40 PM

I think we have overlooked something here. Andrea Mitchell is just jealous that she has to go home to Allen Greenspan, and Sarah gets to go home with Todd. Hey Oh!

CruelaDev, February 8, 2010 11:40 PM

Okay...you creative types with the video and photos....write on your hands..."Happy Birthday Sarah"
take a photo and have a happy hand avatar day! I'm game!

Andrew, February 8, 2010 11:41 PM

Or "I can see Andrea Mitchell in my back yard. Plz help."

Beehive, February 8, 2010 11:41 PM

How about Professor of law with a line through it...

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:44 PM

Oh, that was cruel, Dan ;-)

Dan C, February 8, 2010 11:46 PM

I am listening to the Mark Levin mp3 from todays show that he puts up on his website and he is praising her speech at tea party convention and is slamming the phonies! I love it.

PatrickinOH, February 8, 2010 11:46 PM

Same here!

Andrew, February 8, 2010 11:47 PM

Heh, she should write on her hand, "Run in 2012 / Yes, No, or Maybe" with YES being darker to give liberals heartattacks.

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:47 PM

This reminds me of what Sarah did when someone mocked Mat-Su-Valley as "trashy" ... Remember? They printed up shirts with Mat-Su-Valley Trash on it?

She takes the insult, absorbs it, and turns it around to mock her detractors. Like when she said someone called her a redneck woman one time and she replied: "Why, thank you!"

I SWEAR ... Sarah is a jedi. I"m tellin' ya ... it's like obi-wan kenobi ... "strike me down and I will become even more powerful."

She is an unstoppable "force."

Nancy, February 8, 2010 11:48 PM

Does anyone else think that Governor Palin makes "headquarters" look like world class idiots, on a daily basis?

palinow, February 8, 2010 11:49 PM

Ibelieve she will be in Daytona near her birthday. Start your engines!

grace, February 8, 2010 11:50 PM

Or look at the mirror everyday and see this horrible woman looking back at her

Taxman, February 8, 2010 11:50 PM

If she would ever happen to be at a rally with Rep. Joe Wilson - she could write 'You lie!' on her hand.

PatrickinOH, February 8, 2010 11:51 PM

Ok, wait, I take that back. Goldberg just said the feminists have JUMPED THE SHARK! (NOW Calling the Tim Tebow ad an incitation of violence against women.

The Chrissy Matthews meltdown posted at NewsBusters is unreal if anyone can stomach it. How can someone be so unhinged? Oh yeah, just a typical lib infected with PDS. Perhaps an all time low for the "tingly one", hell for MSNBC in fact. Link is posted on side of C4P home page.

Recovering Democrat, February 8, 2010 11:56 PM

Incidentally, my mom the "clean freak" has been to Juneau and she says it is kind of trashy. The ONLY issue she has with Sarah was her blocking of the trash-deal in Wasilla. LOL.

Chrissy will feel better after he pleasures himself to Obama.

Whitney the Pipsqueak, February 9, 2010 12:03 AM

There were far too many commercials with men in tighty whiteys during the Super Bowl. Honestly, it was kind of disgusting.

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:05 AM

Monday Feb 15 - Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce Speech
Tuesday Feb 16 - Arkansas Republican Dinner Fundraiser

Nancy, February 9, 2010 12:07 AM

I think you guys are onto something.
The things written on her hand, she lives and breaths.
And the way she looked at her hand, was obvious.
I would not put it past her. The Arctic Fox.:)

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:07 AM

Sometimes I get the feeling that Chrissy only says the stuff he says because he knows nobody is watching.

Whitney the Pipsqueak, February 9, 2010 12:08 AM

Ha, Patrick! You cannot compare the two. The tighty whitey commericials were hardly a turn on.Barf.

RINO-Hunter, February 9, 2010 12:08 AM

There has been some chat about a B-day gift from C4P to the Guv here lately. It's probably too late to do this for her B-day, but maybe for her next B-day, anniversary, or whatever:

There's a Canadian blog called Small Dead Animals. The owner, Kate MacMillan, is a fan of the Guv. She's also an artist who specializes in painting dogs and graphics on helmets (she's very talented). How about an Arctic Cat helmet with a stylized, grinning cartoon pitbull with lipstick?

Taxman, February 9, 2010 12:10 AM

TexMex, February 9, 2010 12:14 AM

Heh, as Jon Stewart said, "He's one scotch away from turning into Ron Burgandy."

I remember watching him election night for the MA showdown. He looked so slovenly and his expression looked like someone shot his puppy. I wouldn't have been surprised if some Masshole walked by and said to him, "Geez us, Matthews, you look like hell. Couldn't you have at least put a tie on? And wipe the beer nuts off your shirt. Have some pride, man."

DoingTheDeal, February 9, 2010 12:14 AM

Here is a great line from her speech in Redding at the Loggers get together....

She defended herself as a conservationist.
"We really do love our trees," Palin said. "I named my daughter Willow. Isn't that granola enough for them?"

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:15 AM

Hey ellen I missed 24 tonight, I don't have a DVR. How was it? I heard from someone on twitter that there was tons of VIOLENCE!

Lakerfanalways, February 9, 2010 12:16 AM

I'm telling you all..this hand thing, she planned this..she is a GENIUS..she is absolutely brilliant. Now every time she is somewhere she will be asked what is on her hand and she will have a new message. Do you think I believe for one second she needed to write down "Energy, taxes, and lift america's spirit" on her hand..COME ON..these are her talking points, she is familiar with those things..she was sending a message to the media..Reagan did the same thing..in fact, someone posted this on FreeRepublic..

Reagan turning it on them.....
On one occasion students, chanting outside the Governor’s limousine, held up a placard bearing the modest inscription, “We Are the Future.”
The Governor scribbled down his reply and held it up to the car window. It read: “I’ll sell my bonds.”

They're playing right into her hand!! ;)

Bestbud, February 9, 2010 12:25 AM

I see and hear Sarah now and am awe inspired for her and her family, Gods grace and love exemplified in her radiant being... from some, who call themselves Americans' no less, she has overcome their hateful and vile tongues and now occupies an even more cherished place of honor and respect in the hearts and minds of millions, because of them.
What has become more profound weekly and monthly is the stark reality that we probably came very close to not ever being where we are today, we will never know the low to which Sarah and her family were but how could it not have happened otherwise, under the horrific attacks she and them endured.

That's why I say above it's awe inspiring and joyful beyond words how our faith endures us to God and he sustains us, we and America, are witnessing that sustaining spirit of God in Sarah... We have to believe that she would say herself, Americas loyal barbarians help a great deal through their prayers and support for her... and cannot we be proud as well for what we have before us, because of it. Maybe Im boasting but wow is it ever great to be a small part of this hugh American revolution supporting Sarah.

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:25 AM

True, but if you remember season 7, she banned "torture" and shut down CTU, sounds like a RINO to me. But to be fair, she has wised up and brought that stuff back in season 8.

ellen, February 9, 2010 12:28 AM

It was really good. Renee snapped, big time! I had to look away it was so gross!
Most of the show was about that CTU agent helping her old friend steal money tho, which I find a sort of distracting plot. Im hoping there is a big plot twist there.

Dick Morris. He's wrong sometimes, but he's got a lot of Washington experience under his belt. Sarah should always go with her gut first, but I like Morris. He had me when he told Greta that Palin was really smart.

Being upfront in a fun way about her writing on her hands is her HEALTHY response to receiving such weird criticism.

It's WEIRD to criticize Sarah for her writing a few prompt words on her hand, because the lame-stream media completely ignore how utterly dependent Obambi is on TOTUS!

LOU DOBBS just posted under Sarah's note about Rep. Murtha! He put "Palin mocks herself" and posted something from ABC news. What he posted was a fairly positive piece of reporting from Diane Sawyer tonight!

techno, February 9, 2010 12:45 AM

Chris Matthews going off the deep end by claiming that Sarah said that it would be popular to go to war with Iran when she was speculating about what Obama would do to ensure he would be re-elected in 2012.

Then he tries to merge the narrative of Sarah being crazy and dumb and doesn't know what she is saying.

Then Matthews tries to link Palin to his conception of a right-wing extremist faction.

Then Chris compares Palin to the main character in A Face in the Crowd, a snake oil salesman.

Then Chris tries to link Palin with Fascism.

Then Chris tries to link Palin with Seven Days in May, a movie about a miltary takeover of the US government.

Boy, Chris has completely come unhinged. Will he accuse her of being from Mars soon?

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 12:46 AM

P.S. Hi, mana! Yep, Sarah just becomes MORE ENERGIZED by these appearances, speeches, and silly criticisms! What a president she'll be!

Lakerfanalways, February 9, 2010 12:49 AM

Diane Sawyer said something positive about Sarah Palin..WOW, now I know hell has frozen over..

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:51 AM

He probably already has.

RINO-Hunter, February 9, 2010 12:53 AM

This is knda O/T and stale because it relates to the Tea Party speech which has already been discussed ad nauseum, but:

I was having some beers with a friend last night. He likes Sarah, but has never really been sure if she was up to the Presidency. The news was on and we started talking about the media. I mentioned what Breitbart said about "it's not the business model that sucks, it's you that sucks" at the Tea Party Convention. As soon as I mentioned the Tea Party Convention, he started ranting and raving about how awesome her speech was, how he wanted her to run (I didn't even know he'd watched it).

That's how big the speech was, and everybody I talk to is more impressed with it than I was (probably because my expectations were higher). The bottom line is it was a home run and an epic win.

Nancy, February 9, 2010 12:54 AM

Written on Governor Palin's hand: Made Ya Look!:)

PatrickinOH, February 9, 2010 12:55 AM

That's really good news! Even mad Sully thought it was the most effective speech he'd seen since Reagan.

Angela, February 9, 2010 12:56 AM

Seriously, guys. This hand thing is brilliant! Reminds me of the verse in the Bible, "What Satan meant for evil, God meant for good." Meaning, God turns something that the enemy meant to be a negative into a positive.

RINO-Hunter, February 9, 2010 12:57 AM

Here's the link to that video Angela was talking about. Pretty positive for ABC and for all of you poll junkies, they said the were releasing a poll about Palin soon.

I'm heading to bed now guys, this was another really fun night. Good night and God bless! Going dark now.

Aw thanks, isn't it cute? The elephant is holding Lipstick. :) It's from one of those t-shirt/bumper sticker sites.

You can save it to your computer by right clicking and hitting save as.

She will convinve them one at a time.

Uffda, February 9, 2010 1:01 AM

My mom was the same way. She's kind of a Palin fan, but she doesn't follow anything like I do. She watched the speech and I talked to her about it today. She was like, "That was the hardest I've seen her go after Obama since the convention, etc...." Her eyes were wide and she was all excited.

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 1:02 AM

Morris is simply practical: he supports people when they're PROVEN winners.
Hence, his current support for Sarah.

We shall see if he proves LOYAL.

manajordan, February 9, 2010 1:03 AM

It's always good to hear from you Mountain Mama :)

TexMex, February 9, 2010 1:07 AM

Way to go, Mrs. P!

she would be from venus

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 1:10 AM

Liberals adore dialectics and "holding in tension" supposed opposites.
They manifest this in PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome):
Sarah is supposedly stupid, yet she's also supposedly crafty.

SAD, that they fail to apprehend Sarah's common sense and decency.

Beehive, February 9, 2010 1:10 AM

mountain mama, are we actually here at the same time?
I am in awe, as always!!!

Ashley, February 9, 2010 1:15 AM

Great idea, Nancy & CruelaDev! We should all write a little birthday message for Sarah on our hand, photograph it and upload a link onto this site. And maybe the contributor can post the photos in a birthday post. That would be an awesome way to celebrate Governor Palin's birthday & I bet she'd get a huge kick out of it!

Ashley, February 9, 2010 1:15 AM

Seriously, let's do it.

A, February 9, 2010 1:16 AM

Was yesterday Palm Sunday?

Ashley, February 9, 2010 1:20 AM

I still love that she wrote 'Lift America's Spirit' that is genuine Palin.

Money Maven, February 9, 2010 1:21 AM

I hope she is getting paid and keeping the money for her family for this speech.

Mia, February 9, 2010 1:21 AM

Uffda, February 9, 2010 1:33 AM

CruelaDev, February 9, 2010 1:36 AM

MIA the Missing????
Ummmm....you can't do that ....You screw up so many schedules! What's up?

Mia, February 9, 2010 1:40 AM

Hey Guys...
I am going taking a time out...
My best friend's daughter has cancer...They found a tumor behind the eye...did surgery...removed the tumor and the eye...everything was great...and...suddenly..her daughter went into a coma yesterday...she is 35...has 4 kids...youngest 5 months oldest...12...
My friend texted me yesterday morning..."I Need You"
I got to her daughters house at 5:20 am...
My friend is a very strong woman...and has been strong for her family and grandchildren...she shows no emotion around them...
I walked into the kitchen yesterday morning and said...hey...
My friend looked at me... and dropped to her knees... and started sobbing...
I can not finish this...right now...
I will delete it after a few mintes...because...it's a downer...
I wanted to touch base...
Mia...

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 1:41 AM

But Chrissy is so "off" that he'd screw that up and believe instead that Palin is MALE-ish (ya know, he'd say it that way, to sound off-the-cuff and cool and Metrosexual----anything that might help PMSBC's ratings)----and thus he'd say that Sarah is from MARS.

So lame.......
(Hey, Gelston!)

CruelaDev, February 9, 2010 1:41 AM

Not sure about the email thingy...but just use it as your avatar for the day! Avatars carry a lot of weight around here....I have found...no idea why...but I'm just sayin'! ;)

It still scares me that I was standing in a line to get a book signed and those we talked too knew me by my avatar....I just don't understand.....maybe someday I will get the joke!

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 1:42 AM

I think Sarah should draw TWO EYES, lookin' right back at 'em....

BOO!

gelston the knowitall, February 9, 2010 1:42 AM

God bless you Mia and your friends. It has to be tough emotionally

Beehive, February 9, 2010 1:44 AM

God Bless My Friend!

Uffda, February 9, 2010 1:46 AM

Someone said something about God using evil for good. It made me think of this email - http://crivellawest.net/pdf/813.pdf

You have to read these things from the bottom up for them to make sense. It's about when Lyda Green was throwing a fit because Sarah wanted to give her State of the State an hour early.

Sarah said:

"I really cannot believe this situation. I pray that what the enemy means for evil, will turn out for good."

CruelaDev, February 9, 2010 1:47 AM

My Dad got bad news about one of his best friends today....I understand...

Mountain Mama, February 9, 2010 1:49 AM

I don't know you, Mia, but I am praying for you and for your friend and her family.

My favorite prof in seminary lost an eye to cancer, too. It's SO tough!

LORD, we know You will help them all. Be MANIFEST, O Lord.

KeeleyH, February 9, 2010 1:49 AM

Diane Sawyer was just reading the news about Palin, not personally commenting on her. Though I haven't seen Sawyer dissing Sarah lately, either. But I would put Sawyer in the "still skeptical" camp, even though she's not overtly hostile. I'll give Diane Sawyer and Kate Snow credit for just "reporting the news".

I think of all three big networks, ABC has been sort of "ok" where it comes to Palin.

gelston the knowitall, February 9, 2010 1:56 AM

It is hard to say much after that. It stops you in your tracks.
It sounds like a rapidly growing cancer which is metastatizing quickly. Not good

I realized tonight how much the words Palin and Palm look alike.

Indemind, February 9, 2010 2:05 AM

O/T A quote by Wanda McDonald: Through no fault of her own, she and her family have been viciously criticised, belittled, and slandered and yet, she continues to draw crowds and fans by the thousands. What is it about this woman that brings out the most venemous blogs, commentaries and articles I've ever seen in my 52 years of living... I think I know. I believe God has raised her and others that we may not even be aware of yet ,'for such a time as this.' There are many Esthers, Deborahs, Daniels and Josephs out there who are not intimidated by the enemy and Sarah Palin is one of them."

You people keep reminding me of emails. Check this one out - http://crivellawest.net/pdf/1378.pdf

Not specifically dealing with anything Biblical, but there is a feeling of destiny. A letter to the Governor in May of 2008:

Gov. Palin,

Before you ran for governor I saw you at an Aces hockey game in Anchorage. You were sitting right in front of us with a lady who worked with you and another couple. The male half of the couple talked your ear off the entire game. But as much as you were listening to him, you were watching the game.
And you were so on top of it, you'd ring your cowbell along with everyone else when the Aces scored.

I knew who you were from reading the paper and seeing the news, being the mayor of Wasilla. My two friends with me did not know who you were. I told them to remember this day because one day they'd know very well who you are.

I appreciate and adore having you run out state. It is the most relieving feeling knowing that another true to the heart Alaskan is in charge. And this Alaskan has the same needs, wants, and cares that the rest of us Alaskans do too.

Everything you do for Alaska is truly appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work, compassion, and understanding.

CruelaDev, February 9, 2010 2:48 AM

I have to pinch myself...to keep the tears back...I hold back so much...I watch a lame movie and the tears flow....Ya...real tough there!....I am such a duffas!
