Hi Mom/Open Thread (Update: Erick Erickson loved the keynote)

Check out this picture of what Governor Palin wrote on her hand from the Palin/Perry rally earlier today:

Obama voter Ann Althouse writes that "Sarah Palin has had us in the palm of her hand all day."

In any event, we have three different crowd estimates for today's event. Under any estimate, Palin appears to have outdrawn the President by a quite a margin when you compare the number of people that attended her campaign rally for Governor Perry three weeks before the election with the number of people that attended the President's campaign rally for Senate candidate Martha Coakley in Massachusetts two days before the election.

What else is going on tonight besides what appears to be a very good football game?

Update by Hal: Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints. I must admit, I was skeptical that they could pull it off, but they played a great game from the 2nd quarter onward.

My daughter and I attended the Rick Perry rally today in Houston. Many thanks to C4P reader Gamsbo for saving us a front place in line. Here's one photo I took of the rally stage. From left to right, Gov. Perry, Piper Palin, Ted Nugent, and of course Gov. Palin. I'm not the greatest crowd estimator, but I'll guess between 8,000-9,000 attended including the arena seats and floor area.

Update #2: Erick Erickson loved it.

Hi Mom!!!

Is that a real picture or is it photoshopped??
By the Ann Althouse has an interesting post and suggestion.

http://althouse.blogspot.com/2010/02/sarah-palin-has-had-us-in-palm-of-her.html

Its funny how Althouse who called Palin "stupid" prematurely when excerpts of Going Rogue was release, is now it seems a big Palin fan. Funny how things change.

i am trying to do work, but this site is much more fun...  Thanks for the tweet "HI MOM".  can't get any funnier than that...

Ceejay,  February 7, 2010 9:18 PM

I just sit back and think are the Democrats not Americans? If they were, they would want national security, a healthcare system that is not of a third world country, and Sarah wants this for the American people.  Guess they just do not "get it" . Wanted hope and change, we have change but no hope

Sarah 2012!

Lakerfanalways,  February 7, 2010 9:27 PM

That picture right there is the #1 reason why Sarah is SO AWESOME..She takes all the crap thrown at her and takes it all in stride. She doesn't care what hte liberal idiots say about her, she is enjoying life..whcih liberals hate since their lives are so miserable..her next message she should put on her hand is "Obama sucks"

Sarah switched from Blackberry to Palm.

A,  February 7, 2010 9:29 PM

Did Sarah write it to Sally, or did Piper write it to Sarah?

Hi Mom.

PatrickinOH,  February 7, 2010 9:30 PM

Did anybody see that interception by the Saints?  Looks like your prediction will be wrong once again Tommy!

narciso,  February 7, 2010 9:30 PM

She's the happy warrior, or Momma Grizzley, willing to slap you silly if you go near her cubs. Despite some halting moments, that was clearly a Depends moment, if it   had been a  fight, they would have called it of, "No Mas"

ellen,  February 7, 2010 9:32 PM

This is the kind of sense of humor and fun that is going to make the long battle til' 2012 possible.
You think they will post this on on the HuffPost?

Lakerfanalways,  February 7, 2010 9:36 PM

Sarah is aware of everything going on..someone probably told her about it this morning so she decided to make light of it..ya know, I would not be surprised if she wrote those things on her hand yesterday during her speech to make a point about obama..she did an amazing speech, spoke for 40 minutes, with what, 3 words written on her hand..Obama couldn't give a speech with 10 words on his hand to save his life..he can't talk without his teleprompter

I LOVE her confidence and humor.  I believe the Hi mom is real but was the original accusation photoshopped?   Doesn't matter either way.  Someone who can speak for almost an hour with a few notes and words on her hands vs someone who does staff meetings and talks to kids with a telepromter, no brainer.

Next message on her hand:   Boo :)

You saw tonight with the NO victory in the SB what can happen when two teams of fairly equal capability compete in the arena. The underdog can prevail.

Why do you think that Obama, the Democrats and the Far Left are on a search and destroy mission to destroy one American, Sarah Palin, because that one American gives the GOP a decent chance to succeed.

The Far Left is all about clearing the playing field or eliminating their opposition. They do not seek or embrace competition.

We cannot allow Sarah to be blindsided. Each of us can provide Sarah sanctuary.

I loved it in the speech at the Perry rally when she joked about her pregnancy of Trig and when she uttered "Holy moly."

There is nobody else in America of an esteemed political stature who speaks like the average person and just as important for a politician is able to gauge how Joe and Mary Six-pack are thinking at a given time.

My Dear Friends in Sarah,

Fortes Fortuna Adjuvat: "It is the brave/bold whom fortune helps." This is a well-known Latin adage.

I have been watching football for decades, and I wish I could boast that it occurred to me that it would be a wise move for the Saints to try an on-side kick to start the second half. It did not so occur to me; I cannot lie.

Sean Payton did do this, and he is tonight the coach of the Super Bowl Champions as a result!

Can we indulge in a bit of fantasy, and suppose that a certain lady from Alaska phoned Payton at halftime (if she was finished with the Rick Perry rally) and suggested this move?

It so reminds of Sarah, especially her move to resign as Governor of Alaska, and her Facebook-missile strategy: Think "outside the box"; keep the enemy off-balance!!

Congratulations to Kjan, and to all other Saints fans from an Oakland Raiders fan!!

We will see our brave, beautiful Sarah as the "Super Bowl" winner on a certain golden night in November, 2012: Madame President-Elect!!

I have some urgent work for the next couple of days, but I shall see you all later on this week.

God bless!!

Sarah Domination 2010; SARAH 2012!!!

OK, I re-watched her entire Tea Party speech.  I watched her left hand the entire time.  I blew the picture up huge on my screen since I have a Mac.  No where did I see anything written on her hand.  Did Huffpo really photoshop those words in???  It was hard to tell because there were only a few clear shots of her palm but it really looked blank.

What does everyone else think??  Did Sarah wake up to find a photoshopped controversy and then throw it right back in their faces with Hi Mom??  Bloody brilliant if she did!

If you are defeated let it be when you have been constantly on the attack mode rather than playing it safe and getting too much practice playing defense.

I have maintained this about Sarah since the RNC convention speech. She is a fighter, relentless and will never give up. She will be formidable if she gains the GOP nomination. After that she may not become POTUS in 2012, but it will not be because of a fear to succeed, a hesitancy of will, a deficiency in energy or a lack of guts.

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 10:08 PM

Back from Houston and the Palin rally. It was great. We had pretty good seats to! I have not looked at the Rally thread to see what all was covered. Hubby estimated about 7000 people at the rally. It was electric when Perry introduced Palin and she walked up to speak!

She gave a great, short speech. She had her hair up, my favorite style and had those kickin' purple boots on with a beautiful torquise type cross necklace on. Great day but a tiring one.

Check out this column: http://streetlevel.blogtownhall.com/2009/08/07/from_this_point_no_further_obligation_to_the_mainstream_media.thtml

Here's some clips:

"<span><span>When a conservative grants an interview and they know they’re going to be bushwhacked (I think of Glenn Beck-The View & Palin/Couric) they’re not accomplishing anything for the right. Even Gen. Custer thought he could win at Little Big Horn. Conservatives know they’re going to get clobbered yet they stoically walk in to this ambush as if its their duty. The only effect of such action is to fuel these msm assassins and give them another day of legitimacy. "</span></span>

"<span>What would be the positive effects of this sort of decisive and courageous action on the part of Movement Conservatives?   Think of the time spent by Conservative politicians preparing for the hostile gauntlet that they require themselves to run through every political season. They must shift their focus away from the Conservative Base and give rapt attention to the enemy in the MSM. They must become as “walking encyclopedias”. With knowledge and the correct pronunciation of every little tinhorn dictator around the world and the tiny nation they lord over. They’re required to know minute details on all subjects or risk looking foolish on national TV. The irony is that the vicious MSM will see to it that they look foolish anyway. No matter how well prepared they are. Can we remember the ’08 GOP debates and the generally goofy questions? The time it takes to maintain this charade totally shifts the politicians focus away from connecting and bonding with the actual voting Base! Exactly as the Left has designed and implemented it!   Such a tragedy that Conservatives have repeatedly fallen into this trap and allowed themselves to be manipulated to this extent.  Far too long. </span><span>

<span>"Whoever decides to pursue the 2012 POTUS should consider a departure from the traditional/conventional forms of campaigning and that will also include banishment of the MSM. Going straight to the populace or working through “friendlies” of which there are ample, is a viable alternative. Conservatives can learn much from the mistakes of Fred Thompson . They will need to skirt around the Left’s Maginot Line. A new “Tea Party” brand of candidate should also avoid, like the plague, the well traveled thoroughfares that other GOP candidates choose to travel upon. These wide avenues lined with trip wires, booby traps and snipers peering down from tree tops.   A Non-traditional type candidate can reach, in plenty of time, the same destination by traveling off road along dirt roads and game trails. Metaphorically speaking, of course. That's a really interesting take in that column hrh. I think it is kind of sad that we are at the point where that kind of thinking has to be given serious consideration. The media's job was supposed to be to inform the American public, and in fact serve as a protection against government corruption and such. How sad that they have relegated themselves to be cheerleaders. And because of that they have made themselves irrelevent. In some ways I feel more betrayed by the media than I do the government (which is hard to do). Well, they made their own bed. Now they have to face up to the consequences.

Ceejay,  February 7, 2010 10:27 PM

1. Poll: Data About Palin, Romney, Gingrich Revealed
A recent Newsmax Media-Zogby poll showed former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin leading the Republican field as the party’s preferred candidate for president in 2012.
And a breakdown of demographic and other data from the survey offers some interesting insights on current Republican thinking about GOP candidates in the next presidential election:
Sarah Palin, who grabbed 22.2 percent of the vote in the poll, is more popular in the East than anywhere else in the country. Interestingly, she has been described as a Western and Southern candidate, but our Zogby poll found that 25 percent of Easterners supported her. The West, in fact, gave her the lowest figure —     20 percent. Palin is not as strong with 65-plus voters — her percentage there dropped to 19.7 percent. She seems to be popular with younger voters, with 23 percent of those between ages 18 and 29 supporting her.

This is from newsmax.com

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:29 PM

Sarah asserted that Rush was only using sarcasm and did not ORIGINALLY utter f---ing retard (Palin even used the phrase herself in the interview) which Rahm "was reported to have said". She defended Rush to the hilt and demonstrated to all Republicans how one should respond to a question about Rush. Not once did she can him an entertainer or try to diminish him. I wrote earlier today Rush must be smiling like a Cheshire Cat. Never has he been defended by a GOP politician (except for Dick Cheney) with such passion and eloquence.

i watched it again on palintv and at 2:01 you can definitely see something on her left palm!!!!

Obama picked the colts but was pulling for the saints.

manajordan,  February 7, 2010 10:35 PM

This "Hi Mom" response from Sarah is just delightful. I've already shared it with others who also had a good laugh. The media is just making themselves more of a joke, and Sarah is helping them along.

Inevitable: Time Disparages Tea Party as Impotent; Smears Palin’s ‘Anti-Intellectual Drivel’ as ‘Anti-American’

Hellrider,  February 7, 2010 10:36 PM

Mwuhahaha....Pwnd.

You know the far lefts constant attempts to try and manufacture some sort of scandal against Sarah Palin reminds me of a Road runner cartoon. Every time they think they have some new brilliant scheme that they can trap her with it ends up blowing up in their faces just like Wylie Coyote.

JeanA,  February 7, 2010 10:37 PM

but she did say nobody should use the word

Ashley,  February 7, 2010 10:38 PM

Ok. I'm going to watch the interview tomorrow, but I was just wondering that now because they were basically calling her a hypocrite and I wanted to know the scoop. Anyhow...I love the thread picture of Sarah.

yogi41,  February 7, 2010 10:38 PM

I thought he said his head was with the Colts but his heart was with the Saints?

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:38 PM

Rush got it wrong. That will send down his 99.5% rating of being right.

The reason I picked up on it was that Rush was discussing his pick with his friend Hutch on Friday and basically said there would be no way he would pick the Colts after what their owner Jim Irsay said about him during the proposal months ago for him to be a part owner of the Rams that embarrassed Rush, vilified him and prevented him from becoming a NFL owner.

Nancy,  February 7, 2010 10:38 PM

Written on Governor Palin's hand: Say bullstuff!

Journeyman,  February 7, 2010 10:39 PM

Question: I may be a little slow tonight, but has anyone really settle it whether or not any of these photos at the TPN convention or the Rick Perry rally are real? really real? o f the hand because it's seem like most of you accept it, but im holding back on Handgate because i just saw some video and nothing seem to be on her hand....help me out guys

Taxman,  February 7, 2010 10:40 PM

It would be kind of funny if Sarah wrote a 4 or 5 word thought for the day on her hand and put a picture of it on her Twitter page.  Some inspirational, some funny, some snarky - she would probably get a huge number of new followers.

lmg,  February 7, 2010 10:41 PM

The question needs to be refined: Do they not like Sarah Palin, or do they not like the idea of a woman as President? The over 70 group could be the latter.

Firelight,  February 7, 2010 10:42 PM

I did see it during the Q & A but I assumed she wrote it during her break because I can't find it during the speech.

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:42 PM

Gee guys whatever happened to Romney and Huckabee.

This reminds me of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid who ride off together in one direction while the other members of the gang together take off in an opposite direction, with the posse only following Butch and the Kid, prompting one of them to say (I can't remember which): "What about those guys?"

james23,  February 7, 2010 10:42 PM

One of the highlights for me was when Wallace attributed to Rush the view that some on the left are "Kooks" and Sarah said "they are kooks!"  No backing down, no apologies, and all with a big smile on her face.  Perfect!

palinsupporter,  February 7, 2010 10:43 PM

I looked at the governor Perry speech on palintv and at 2:01 you can see she definitely has something on her left palm.

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:43 PM

That is why on Friday Rush said he would no longer use that word on the air.

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 10:44 PM

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 10:47 PM

Actually it was probably "ya'll". She made it a point to say it so I am sure that must be what was written on her hand. But I wonder what good it does, I thought she couldn't read.

narciso,  February 7, 2010 10:48 PM

Ah Halperin, he is really straining for irrelevance, and yes the Roadrunner analogy really fits. The supergeniuses at the DNC and RNC have to get better ACME kits

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:48 PM

I think that is the main job of her staff as well as doing research for her and scheduling her time.

Other than that does Sarah really need staffers around to tell her how to act in public or what to say or not to say in speeches.

dansnewplace,  February 7, 2010 10:49 PM

She also said she was asked to speak up about this and she raised her hand and said yes

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 10:49 PM

I saw something on her hand while at the Tea Party Convention and saw her reference it during the Q and A time. I was watching live on my own TV so I know it was real. I was at the rally today and did not see anything on her hand when she waved, but others have said they saw it on video. I was up pretty close but not up on stage so I could have easily missed it.

James in Missouri,  February 7, 2010 10:50 PM

If McCain wins re-election, he will owe Palin from now on when she is President in 2012.

Tommy Report,  February 7, 2010 10:50 PM

A liberal from the TIME blog is saying that Wallace really pushed Palin.

If he thinks that, it can only be good for her considering that I don't think any reasonable person watching that interview can say she did poorly.

I think it was strong interview overall and Wallace was a pretty tough interviewer.

Lakerfanalways,  February 7, 2010 10:52 PM

It was the best inteview she has done..yes he did push her and she pushed back..HARD..it was a great interview. He didn't give her any softball questions or anything like that..she handled herself PERFECTLY..she can handle these buffoons, doesn't matter who they are, she can take em all down

Firelight,  February 7, 2010 10:54 PM

I saw it on her hand at the Perry rally too.  However, I have NOT been able to find anything on her hand during her actual speech at the TPC.  I only see her look her hand during the Q & A.  I saw a pic on FR that shows nothing on her hand at the TPC.

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:55 PM

The Far Left has turned a corner this weekend: their latent fears and hostility of Sarah Palin has bubbled to the surface and in turn have become an ongoing lava of vile commentary and undisguised malice that threatens to boomerang and consume the cities and communities in which they live and the individuals and groups they wholeheartedly endorse.

techno,  February 7, 2010 10:58 PM

I don't think Wallace was expecting that answer from Palin regarding kooks.

KeeleyH,  February 7, 2010 10:59 PM

She has learned from Reagan. Have a sense of humor about the attacks against you.

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 7, 2010 10:59 PM

Oh my! I love the fact that she wrote "hi mom" on her hand today in Texas! Hilarious! Lipstick, Lynda, Latinchic, etc. I'm so glad you all got to see her. I'll have to go watch the video here in a bit!

Kjanlady and all other Saints fans- I'm so excited for you. My fellow Illini Pierre Thomas had himself a pretty good game, as did Drew Brees, even though he's a Purdue alum. ;) It was a fun game to watch! :) Did anyone else notice that in one of the Bud Light commericals--the book club one--the guys who crashed the book club were wearing Marmot shirts? :)

Firelight,  February 7, 2010 11:01 PM

Tommy - did you hear Wallace on Imus.  I missed it but caught sound bites regarding a statement that Wallace hoped Sarah did the interview from his lap.  Jerri Thompson called for him to apologize.  Did anyone catch that???

dansnewplace,  February 7, 2010 11:01 PM

The threat of Sarah keeps getting bigger- she's gaining power every appearance.

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 11:01 PM

I will say this though.

If Palin did have 'Hi Mom' written on her hand then she wanted everyone to see it.

She and Perry walked in from the back of the building on the floor up to the stage. So they walked the whole lenght of the floor down an aisle made with baracades. There were people on both sides. Palin working one side and Perry working the other all the way up to the stage. Even the guy that was with her throughout the book tour was with her. Anyway, she was right there shaking hands with lots of people, waving etc. She would have known there would be plenty of opprotunities to see it and photograph it.

JeanA,  February 7, 2010 11:02 PM

Did anybody notice if Gov. Palin had anything written on her hands during the Wallace interview?  She looked down at her hands.

HeHeHeHe

Hi Mom!

PatrickinOH,  February 7, 2010 11:02 PM

Canary went too, she was the one who printed out all the C4P business cards.

PatrickinOH,  February 7, 2010 11:04 PM

If anything it would be "It will be a cold day in hell before I allow myself to sit in your lap."

Tommy Report,  February 7, 2010 11:04 PM

Yes that happened.

He may have apologized for her off-camera but it didn't seem to create any tension on camera.

techno,  February 7, 2010 11:04 PM

Did anyone notice in referring to Paul Ryan that she called him a Young Turk? It can never hurt your re-election chances to have the 'Cuda single you out of the GOP members in Congress and show you some love?

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 7, 2010 11:05 PM

If you click on the picture on the post to enlarge it, it's pretty clear that it says, "hi mom".

I bet she did it on purpose, which is awesome.

I contend that she's often written on her hands (see avatar). :)

yogi41,  February 7, 2010 11:06 PM

I didn't see anything on her hand during the Tea Party speech. Some say she wrote on it after the speech and before the Q&A, but I watched it on C-SPAN and she didn't leave the stage after her speech, so I don't know when she found the time to jot down notes on her hand.

I know some folks over at Hillbuzz caught wind of what the dummies at DU were trying to spread last night, and some of the HB posters started looking at screenshots, looking at her hands. No one could see anything, except this one annoying poster who kept insisting that she had notes on her hand.

I watched she speech and although I wasn't specifically looking at her hands for "notes", I didn't notice anything strange about her hands; no smears or black markings.

When I saw what Zsa Zsa's site did this morning, I figured it was altered in some way, since Zsa Zsa is not known for being credible or honest.

So that's where I stand: the original screenshots last night didn't show anything, yet this morning, every site (progressive and conservative) are suddenly showing this clear, legible writing on her hand. I think if it was as clear as the HuffPo photos are depicting, I would have noticed something last night when I watched the speech. I didn't see anything.

With that said, I still think this entire episode is funny and Sarah adding to it by writing on her hand escalates it to sheer hilarity for me.

yogi41,  February 7, 2010 11:08 PM

"BEEP-BEEP"

That can be what Sarah writes on her hand tomorrow.

Ceejay,  February 7, 2010 11:08 PM

Yes, she is really impressed with Paul Ryan, that was plain and clear.

by <span>Bob Tippee </span>
<span>Editor </span>

"<span>A Feb. 4 congressional question to US Energy Sec. Steven Chu shows why state-sponsored energy works poorly as economic stimulus. </span>

<span><span>...<span>The America Recovery and Reinvestment Act allocated DOE $36.7 billion in seven broad categories: energy efficiency and renewable energy, clean-up of Cold War nuclear sites, loan guarantees for renewable energy, “smartgrid” and efficient electrical transmission, carbon capture and storage, scientific research, and the energy part of an advanced research program. </span></span></span>
<span>
So far, DOE has spent $2.1 billion.

“We’re not dilly-dallying,” Chu said, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. “Many of these organizations [state and local governments] aren’t used to dealing with that magnitude of money.”

As an explanation, this makes perfect sense. What doesn’t make sense is the thrust of so much public money into a system unable to handle it efficiently.

The dilemma is fatal: The government wants to inject money into the economy promptly to spur activity and, it believes, employment. Because the dispensing agency works carefully—Americans must hope—to prevent looting of the program, however, the stimulus is meager and slow.

Part of the problem is staffing. So DOE wants more money for more people to push more papers. Meanwhile, Congress is considering a jobs bill with more energy spending.

Especially relative to the bureaucratic and subsidy costs, these exertions will yield precious little usable energy. Because of the economic drain, employment gains will be illusory.

Congress has a more effective use for the $34.6 billion of 2009 stimulus money DOE hasn’t spent. It should give it back to taxpayers, who earned it in the first place. "</span>

JeanA,  February 7, 2010 11:14 PM

She give the Young Turk a nice shout out.

Lipstick,  February 7, 2010 11:14 PM

Well, whether she had something on her hand or not doesn't matter. She gave a great speech in TN and if somehow having a couple of words on her hand means she is dumb well I just don't know what to say to that logic. She gave a good long speech with no teleprompter. Apparently her speech wa accurate or they would be harping on that. If all they can find it this hand business they look really dumb making a deal of it when Obama can't talk to 6th graders without a teleprompter. I go in almost everyday to a new class and talk to 4th, 5th or 6th graders cold turkey in different subjects. Now i am just a dumb state educated teacher but if I can pull that off without a teleprompter I woudl think the POTUS could who went to harvard. If Palin wrote a couple of words on her hand yet had a kick butt speech with just notes, well, that looks good to me.

I hope the Perry rally thing is real. It shows spunk and in their face attitude. Go Cuda.

And I will tell you this. EVERYONE was there today to see Palin, not Perry. When Palin walked up to the mic everyone was visibly gasping for air, there was no oxygen left in the room.

techno,  February 7, 2010 11:14 PM

Just when AP had thought that the 'Cuda was diminished because of mounting right-wing criticism of her appearance at the TP convention and a paucity of coverage by right-wing bloggers, she performs magnificently in Nashville on Saturday night and on Fox News Sunday this morning. Sarah is his QOTD again. Isn't right-wing love for Palin grand or as Palin would say fickle?

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 7, 2010 11:15 PM

Oops, yes, Canary too. Sorry, I hadn't read through all the threads yet.

Uffda,  February 7, 2010 11:15 PM

If I am correct in assuming that she wrote them as a list of topics she wanted to be sure to emphasize, it would make sense that she would scribble them on her hand before the Q & A time because she would want to bring those questions around to those topics. She probably didn't want to do Q & A with an index card or a piece of paper, so she just wrote it on her hand. Big whoop.

Uffda,  February 7, 2010 11:17 PM

But whether they were on her hand or not, again, big whoop.

PatrickinOH,  February 7, 2010 11:17 PM

Were you able to meet up with anyone from C4P Lipstick?

Haven't heard the Wallace interview yet. Still at a Superbowl "party" eating crow for flipping and picking the Colts (losers). BIOO! (Blame it on Obama).

Just heard the local ABC news drone say that Sarah suggested O "Declare war" on Iran to strengthen his image/credibility. Did she suggest he "Declare war" on Iran?!

Uffda,  February 7, 2010 11:24 PM

Wallace went on Fox and Friends the day after and talked about it. I don't think I heard him apologize, but he said, "It seemed funny at the time."

Don Imus is the real crazy guy. Wallace was just going with it. But I still wish they would quit focusing like a laser beam on her looks. She's hot. We get it. Let's move on....

I must have been just behind you in line. We were there early too, before WillCall opened and were maybe 25th in line. We were right behind the guy with the yellow shirt that said "So the right thing." The older couple right in front of us was eating Wendy's.

I was across from you!! We were on the other side right across from the band, 4th row up. Pretty good seats!!!!! I don't have anyway to get internet while mobile and live around Beaumont. By the time we picked the boy up in Tomball, stopped and ate at Pappasitos (my fav) and drove home it was after 8:30! I bet we saw wach other and did not know it. I had on a blue pull over fleece jacket and Hubby had an orange side shoulder backpack on. I was also the one eating peanut butter sandwiches in line!!!

PatrickinOH,  February 7, 2010 11:28 PM

No, we left at 7:30 this morning. It is a 2 hour drive to get to my sis's where we dropped the boy off stood in line, blah blah blah had to get back ASAP with just a quick bite to eat since it is a school night.  :(

I think McCain's RINOism gets way overplayed.  No one really cared about McCain-Feingold among the public, and in any event it's over after the recent Court decision.  McCain voted for guy who was the decisive vote in ending it.(And he knew it was finished when he voted for Alito).  The Gang of 14 helped get some good nominees like Brown seated when they wouldn't have(Frist never would have used the nuclear option and they would have lingered)and it helped prevent a filibuster of Alito.  He may have supported amnesty but it was never going to fly and it won't happen any time soon.

On Foreign Policy and on the Surge where he actually had an important role, he got things done.

But, yes, it is a bit interesting how McCain basically put her on the natl stage.  I don't think he really had any idea, just that she at least gave him a chance where Pawlenty didn't.

techno,  February 7, 2010 11:34 PM

Wallace asked Palin about Obama's chances to win re-election in 2012 and to put her pundit's hat on. She then cited a recent column by Pat Buchanan

http:www.globe-democrat.com/news/2010/feb/07/buchanan-will-

in which he speculated what would happen to GOP fortunes in 2010 if Obama declared war on Iran. The key word is SPECULATE, and as a pundit (as directed by Wallace) Sarah was also indulging in SPECULATION in which pundits love to deal in.

What if Charles Krauthammer had in a Strategy session uttered the same comments and SPECULATED as well, would he be subject to criticism by the DNC? I don't think so.
