Tabloid Alaska Bloggers: Never Let the Truth Get in the Way.

Had the leader of all 57 States chosen to speak of aspects of healthcare insurance in terms of their “mandation” during last week’s SOTU address, there can be little doubt that Cheerleader Pelosi would have leapt from her seat in fevered admiration of the Leader of the Free World’s professorial wisdom and his ingenious promotion of the constitutionalised right to free speech implicit in his creativity with the spoken word.

What inspiration. What hope.

Oh brave new world that hath such a person in it.

No such indulgence is afforded Governor Palin, whose actual use of the word “mandation” during an interview with Hannity has been taken as meat and drink by those of the ill-informed who are compelled to live their lives painting poison about Palin, just because they can.

“Since August more Americans have paid more attention to the (health care) bill and more Americans are becoming more concerned. It hadn’t been a matter of he not being able to explain his policy with government take over and mandation of health care, but Americans, understanding what is in there, not liking it."

Playground queen of high school mean, Jeanne “Loadsabrains” Devon, chuckles and chortles about the inadequacies of any fellow American who just happens to be a Republican; and resorts constantly to her particular variation on the Harry Enfield theme of I happen to be considerably richer than you:

‘Excuse me sport, I hope you don’t mind me interrupting, only I noticed that I happen to be a liberal and, therefore, I am considerably cleverer than you.’

Yet, Devon didn’t understand Governor Palin’s reference to “mandation”, couldn’t find it defined in any online dictionary, ergo Palin made it up - and how stupid is that:

“In other deep layer of Palin analysis, she went on to discuss health care “mandation.” What’s “mandation” you ask? According to Dictionary.com it means “No dictionary results.” Strange…”

“After Sarah Palin’s excruciating exchange with fellow Fox News talking head Sean Hannity, America was introduced to a brand new word – “mandation.” Seconds later it entered the Twittersphere, and Facebook, and blogs across the cyber universe. Liberals adored it, and Mandation Nation was born. When writing my post, I looked it up in the dictionary and announced on the blog that according to Dictionary.com, “mandation” meant “no dictionary results.”

Introduced a brand new word, Jeanne?

Well, let’s just sweep aside for the moment the overwhelming evidence that the English language is a work in constant progress, and never more so than in a society in which freedom of speech is a constitutional right for every citizen. Let’s not examine too closely just what it is that gives you the right to police any citizen’s right to express themselves neologically or otherwise. No, let’s not scratch too far into the arrogance of your loadsabrain prejudices.

Instead, let’s just invite you to buy a copy of this text:

Healthcare for the Uninsured: Is Mandation the Answer?*
Carson E. Beadle
William M. Mercer Meidinger Hansen, Inc.

The 37 million people in the United States who have no healthcare insurance pose a major social problem, but is legislation that requires employers to provide a minimum amount of healthcarecoverage for employees the solution?

Compensation & Benefits Review, Vol. 21, No. 6, 17-23 (1989)
DOI: 10.1177/088636878902100605

Published in 1989, you notice, Jeanne. Twenty one years ago.

Gosh, look, there’s that new word which you, in your state of ignorance, didn’t know anything about.

Hey, why not do a Google search on the word. See how many times it is referred to in the context of healthcare and insurance. On second thought, maybe not – wouldn’t want to even consider that Governor Palin might have been using the word in full knowledge of its relevance to healthcare insurance… especially when it’s a word you don’t know.

Cue deafening silence, resembling those occasions when Ms Devon failed to distance herself from her friend "Jeff" Griffin’s hatespeak conspiracies, her friend Shannyn Moore’s mendacity in peddling lies as facts on cable tv, her friend Linda Kellen Biegel’s accusation that the good people of the Palin administration acted as Nazis.

Tabloid Alaska Bloggers: never let the truth get in the way of bashing the Palins.

Chuckle chuckle, chortle chortle.

Update (Joshua): it's a crazy world we're living in, friends. Gov. Palin uses a technical term in a television interview, and before you know it the whole world is looking it up on Google.

For all you mandation lovers out there, here's my link of the day: Ten Steps to Easy Mandation. Sorry, make that ECDIS Mandation - Electronic Chart Display Information System Mandation. Not for the fainthearted, this one.

They used dictionary.com to look up the word "mandation"? Oh, that's rich (no pun intended)! As health care research is my field, I can tell you that a lot of words in the field would not be found on dictionary.com.

Dave C,  February 1, 2010 9:58 AM

Mandation..

Perfectly Cromulent sounding word if I ever heard one.

Whatever embiggens the pettiness of Jeanne Devon.

Doug Brady,  February 1, 2010 10:20 AM

I usually feel sorrow and compassion for people as ignorant as Jeanne "Loadsabrains" Devon.  In her case I've made an exception.

There's nothing like a good takedown that also makes you laugh. Thanks Rich.

Tisk, tisk, some "educated" fools just don't know when to do their research.

A good takedown is a great way to start the day!  Thanks Rich.

Wait a minute, aren't we the stupid ones and they're the enlightened elite?

Looks like someone's cheese has slid off its cracker....

PEC,  February 1, 2010 10:34 AM

Rich - You are being very unfair to this crew.  How were they suppose to know about that book.  The only two books they have ever read is Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto" and Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals".  You are asking them to broaden their horizons and they cannot do that.

Dave C,  February 1, 2010 10:37 AM

Jeanne Devon..

Splitting atoms.. with her mind.

gelston the knowitall,  February 1, 2010 10:40 AM

In England, a word becomes a word if the Queen uses it. The Queen's English.
Since the USA has no royalty, the standard is whether the word has been used in th New York Times. I googled this and could not find mandation as a word that has appeared in the NYT.
Will it become a word in wider use? Then maybe it is showing the power of Sarah.
I would love to hear Brianus clock in on this... Unless he joined RAM...  :<)

Kjanlady,  February 1, 2010 10:41 AM

At least Sarah would not get a photograph taken bowing to a mayor.........maybe the once was just giving deference to a much more experienced political figure.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 10:43 AM

How long before we hear The Once use the word mandation in a speech?

For example: The mandation is acting stupidly.
Or: Mandation, under God. (I forgot, he doesn't say the pledge)

BeeFL,  February 1, 2010 10:46 AM

Morning folks!
Congradulations to RAM and JR, even though I do not know them!!!! Sounds like great people!
I am really in an bad mood this morning, so I have been on breepalin's blog, where sandra goes. It's kind of a stress reliever! I'm sure the information I'm giving them on there is just irritating the heck out of them!
The site is really horrible! The hate is just off the charts! Anyway, I'm adding some love!!! LOL

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 10:47 AM

Wait until the unstable hear that Governor Palin has said "ga-ga-goo-goo" to her babies.
Scandalous!

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 10:49 AM

I bet the brainiacs making fun of Governor Palin, still haven't fact checked President Obama's 57 state world he lives in.

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 1, 2010 10:50 AM

I don't know about you all, but I'm still looking for Pahkeyston on a map. Obama says it's a country.

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 1, 2010 10:52 AM

Not to mention the mythical city of Wasilly that the President says the Governor is from.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 10:52 AM

These people look at Joe Biden as a thespian god, so........

panchita,  February 1, 2010 11:12 AM

what this country needs is a  dose of wo-mandation by Dr. Palin. Its time for a womans touch.

RINO-Hunter,  February 1, 2010 11:18 AM

Hey screencappers:  Get yer f$@kin shinebox!  You just got pwn3d.

Also, VIOLENCE!!!!

latinchic,  February 1, 2010 11:31 AM

*eye roll*

RINO-Hunter,  February 1, 2010 11:33 AM

Rand Paul's camp is doubling down on their endorsement claims.

If true, I would guess Steve Forbes got her on board.  She supported him in his past Presidential bids.

Jesse Cornish,  February 1, 2010 11:34 AM

No, not the VIOLENCE!

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 11:45 AM

Maybe these smarter than thous, didn't know the number on the internets to find this word.

Bestbud,  February 1, 2010 11:45 AM

I know what I'll be thinking November 2012 when I go to vote.... I will be mandation-ing him and the left out the door!... the meaning will be personal from me to them-uns!

RINO-Hunter,  February 1, 2010 11:47 AM

YES!  VIOLENCE!!!

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 11:48 AM

Have they broken the code on the Middle East not being a country?

Bestbud,  February 1, 2010 11:49 AM

I know what I'll be thinking November 2010/2012 when I go vote... I will be 'mandation-ing' Obama and the left out the door!.... the meaning will be personal from me to 'them-un's'.

Allie,  February 1, 2010 11:51 AM

Actually it is 57 and one more he hadn't visited yet.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 11:57 AM

From what I have seen from our trolls, and their inablity to comprehend words and structured sentences, this is par for the course.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 11:58 AM

Mandation, is that codespeak for "death panels"?

Allie,  February 1, 2010 12:00 PM

Or "cinco de cuatro".   By now you would think we would be used to the "double standard" but it is irritating to see and read the idiocy that these people post in their blogs.  I just do not pay any attention to what they write.  They have all been brainwashed and unfortunately they do not realize that the ultimate goal of the progressives is anything but progressing the U.S. but rather the ultimate destruction of the Constitution and the United States.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 12:01 PM

This explains attempts at having conversations with these losers.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 12:04 PM

That was great, Sheya!
You are the best!:)

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 1, 2010 12:06 PM

Remember, Nancy, in their language, it's spelled "looser".

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  February 1, 2010 12:10 PM

OT but decent article:

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/state-a-local-politics/78989-scott-brown-sarah-palin-jefferson-new-age-of-common-folk-all-started-by-new-hampshires-free-staters

Quigley seems to be pretty good to the Governor.

palinsupporter,  February 1, 2010 12:15 PM

according to bluegrass pundit, sarahpac sent money to rand paul's campaign and an endorsement.

MarkRNY,  February 1, 2010 12:18 PM

Anyone want a bet that the word "mandation" will somehow make it into one of the Guv's upcoming Facebook ICBM's or speeches? What's Intrade saying the odds are??

They chortle (libs do chortle btw) about the Guv's speech patterns as they've got a Sottomayor who speaks like Slip Mahoney from the Bowery Boys appointed to the SCOTUS and a president who "doesn't speak Austrian"...btw, Whitney's got me seeing anograms everywhere now. Shuffle the letters around and you've got "damnation"--not only is this a legit word, it's code! She's threatening them with Hell!

Gotta luv the Guv.

narciso,  February 1, 2010 12:20 PM

It's more like a torpedo volley, mark, more accurate.

MarkRNY,  February 1, 2010 12:22 PM

I stand "connected" (as Sottomayor would say).

palinsupporter,  February 1, 2010 12:22 PM

sorry, bluegrassbulletin.com

PEC,  February 1, 2010 12:34 PM

BeeFL - Look at featured post on the side.  RAM especially had a way with words that would be what we all were thinking but just didn't know what to say.

Money Maven,  February 1, 2010 1:11 PM

I just assumed MANDATION and MANDATORY have the same ethymyology.

Money Maven,  February 1, 2010 1:12 PM

oops!!! etymology

CharterOakie,  February 1, 2010 1:30 PM

Or when trying to pronounce "Pahkiestahn" more or less as the natives do, as BHO recently did on TV, then logic requires that one also say "Ahfghahniestahn" when mentioning both countries in the same breath.

Instead BHO pronounced the latter country the way any other midwesterner would.

Pretentious pretender.

CharterOakie,  February 1, 2010 1:32 PM

...as in "screw looser"....

CharterOakie,  February 1, 2010 1:36 PM

Very effective, Rich.  Thanks for the chuckles.

Anonymous,  February 1, 2010 2:04 PM

If you say so

Anonymous,  February 1, 2010 2:07 PM

Really, you think you are that smart that they don't know what is going on?  Well good luck with that.

Bestbud,  February 1, 2010 2:09 PM

Sheya
Nancy

Thanks Sheya!... Agree, You Both are the best!:)

Bestbud,  February 1, 2010 2:22 PM

I suppose the Governor, to be more correct, could have said, bow-dation! or we will die-dation!

Bestbud,  February 1, 2010 2:29 PM

I suppose Gov Palin could have said referring to Obama's health care.... bow-dation! or we're all gonna die-dation!

eclecticak,  February 1, 2010 2:43 PM

A simple on-line search turns up a plethora of examples of the use of "mandation" in context incorporated into the title and/or text of governmental, legal and health care related documents going back decades .....

I don't have any formal education beyond a high school diploma so why am I so 'gosh-durn' smart compared to some of these OVERLY-educated Leftist Loons?

;-)

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 3:26 PM

Love you guys!:)

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 3:52 PM

There certainly is a lot of energy being spent on one word.  This just detracts from what Ms. Palin said.  It was easy to understand what she intended.  I think we should all move on.

eclecticak,  February 1, 2010 3:59 PM

We think you should MoveOn.outa here......

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 4:15 PM

I think you should take your own advice and move on. To websites more suited to your ilk.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 4:24 PM

She intended exactly what she said. That word was perfect for her message.
If you want to move on from this subject, it means it ain't gong so well, for your side.
:)

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 4:33 PM

It is a very new or very old or very infrequently used word.  What she meant was she felt the health care reform was looking like an imposition by the government into health care.  That is the point that needs discussion.  Not what word was used.  We're all on the same side here and want what is best for our country.  Quibbling about words is a diversion.

Nancy,  February 1, 2010 4:52 PM

Who is "We're"? All on the same side here?
That is hilarious!
The quibbling is going on, on the looney sites. They are only focused on the destruction of the Palin family. That is all.

eclecticak,  February 1, 2010 5:25 PM

"We're all on the same side here....." ?!?!?!?

About the only way that could be interpreted as correct is if you mean spatialy.....

i.e.: On the same side of the sun....

Rich,  February 1, 2010 5:46 PM

Since we are all on the same side, presumably you'd prefer us not to quibble with your recent description of C4P as "just a little site of intellectual masturb*tion".....if that choice of source is not too eclectic for you, Sandra.

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 6:22 PM

That doesn't sound like me.  Where did I say that?  I don't think that now.  I think this is an important site.  When I agree with you guys, I don't get credit for it.  I agree that too much was made out of one word.  I would really like more of a discussion on the important issues because we can grow and learn from sincere discussion.  If you can point me to that quote, I will comment on it.

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 6:33 PM

Okay I found when I did that.  I was pretty angry and that was not a good thing to say.  I don't know what the topic was, but I should not have been so crude.

eclecticak,  February 1, 2010 6:34 PM

Is the memory fading "eclecticsandra"? I'm told that can be a sad side effect of aging.....

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 6:47 PM

Eclecticak:  You are right.  Aging can change memory processes.  When it happens to you, you won't even know it.

Rich,  February 1, 2010 6:50 PM

But crude you were, and certainly a good deal more honest about your real feelings towards this site and its readers than in most of the "concern" disruption you deliberately seek to perpetrate (as you were telling your Pukingates buddies just yesterday).

Your presence here has always been barely tolerated, and is certainly no longer supported by this contributor.

Allie,  February 1, 2010 7:15 PM

Hear, Hear!  She just comes here to make comments so she is responded to and then she goes to other sites and makes fun.

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 7:37 PM

The only time I made fun of this site was when it was so difficult to get you to follow a clue to a breaking story I thought you would be interested in.  Finally Patrick in OH figured it out.  Sometimes I play games.  Don't we all?

I keep trying to get discussion and I am honest.  If you don't want to play with me, okay.  But the name calling and false accusations are not part of adult conversation.

JP,  February 1, 2010 9:51 PM

Rich,

Bravo!
Nicely done sir!
Excellent application of the SP nitestick!!

It's been awhile since I've posted.
My new avatar illustrates the left's attacks on Sarah.
They use all sorts of tricks and lies but she always keeps moving forward, just out of their grasp.  (Beep Beep!)

Thanks for setting the record straight!!

eclecticak,  February 1, 2010 10:07 PM

Then why do you apparently gleefully participate in such non-"adult" behavior on a regular basis on a variety of blogs?

Schizophrenic much?

sandrainoregon,  February 1, 2010 11:15 PM

Never diagnosed as such.  I don't think you can find many instances of my making "fun" of people.  It is not part of any of my multiple personalities.

Art Telles,  February 2, 2010 12:16 AM

The Dictionary is a Living Book... Ain't It?

This reminds me of the time I wrote "stasis" instead of "static" for an Englis Composition assignment, and the Reader wrote a note saying I shoul not be making up words.

As a Freshman in college, I was not sure if "stasis" was even a word, but it worked in the sentence, and I found out later that it was a very pertinent word.

As an aside, how else is the dictionary developed? Certainly not by an word czar dictating what is a word and what is not... ain't that the truth.
