First? Ciao Bello everyone!

Ciao Bella Mia.
Good Morning Barbarians.
Wife is getting a little better every day. Did have to change her last pain med. had a reaction.
Thank you for the prayers.
It's Patrick, not Mia! Glad to hear your wife is doing better PEC, prayers will continue from me. And good morning!
So many threads last night it was hard to keep up.
Wonder why we did not here much from the Houston Speech. I noticed there was decent coverage of Redding events.
Oh I did find the Tenn. other event is interesting. Sarah is having lots of these private events. She is building a broad base of support.
My Dear Friends in Sarah,
I cannot really spend much time here until Thursday, the day of HER birthday: I sure won't miss that!!
However, I want to respond to two posts from yesterday.
First:
Bestbud, my friend, I posted an answer to your inquiry on Monday's (yesterday's ) morning open thread. Since I was so late in posting it, you have perhaps not seen it.
Second:
Dear riley/Kathy,
I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved dog!!! I know the pain of losing dear pets. I remember our cat Tribble (yes, Star Trek) in particular. He has been gone for many years now, but he is still very real to me.
God bless you. Your Riley, your precious, feisty, unforgettable Riley, will be watching and enjoying Sarah's campaign and triumph from Heaven!! I can just see him and Tribble wearing "Sarah 2012" collars, rooting her on!
Happy shall he be, with all of us, and with all that is best, is finest, is noblest, is bravest in America on 20 January, 2013:
When Sarah, in her beautiful, fearless voice, pronounces the oath of office to become President of the United States...OUR President!!
When the band strikes up, for the first time for her, the strains of "Hail to the Chief"...
When the massed artillery thunders forth the twenty-one gun salute...
When Sarah pronounces what I well know, what we all know well, will be a deathless Inaugural Address!!!
He is free now from all pain and want and fear and sickness...free forevermore!! Please be at peace, dear friend.
You are all in my prayers!!
Again, God bless!
Guys, I shall see you all in about forty-eight hours...on the glorious 11th of February!!
Please know that Sarah, and you, and all of Sarah America are always in my thoughts and prayers, even when I cannot be here.
God bless you all.
Sarah Domination 2010; SARAH 2012!!!
Brianus
You are most welcome, PEC...God bless you all!!!
Good morning!
Thatcher QOTD: "It is always important in matters of high politics to know what you do not know. Those who think that they know, but are mistaken, and act upon their mistakes, are the most dangerous people to have in charge."
Time to finish getting ready for work, and go brush all of the goreflakes off of my car.
Palin engaged in 'kid stories' before speech

Good morning Whitney! The Thatcher quote reminds me of certain telempromper-reading President. Lots of goreflakes here too, decided not to go to school today, level 1 snow emergency, going to get worse as the day progresses.

Thanks, Whit...I'm glad I caught this before leaving!! This reminds me of Socrates: the Delphic Oracle deemed him the wisest of men, precisely because he knew his ignorance; knew he was not wise!!!

Take care today, Pat!!!
College dude, up and atom!
May the new one work well for her. Good morning!
Best Maggie quote yet!
Sarah made the news in Australia over the weekend. Basically saying the she is not ruling out a run for the Presidency in 2012. And the blogs are covering the hand cribnotes story.
Mind if I call her Sarah and not the Governor or Mrs Palin?
Good Morning C4P!!
PEC, Praise God that you wife is getting better!!! Will keep praying! R4P sorry for your loss! the loss of pets can be great. I don't like cats generally but I got a little misty when we lost two of our cats on seperate occasions.
OT/ Counting today we are 23 days away from the two year aniversary of "Draft Sarah Palin for V.P." "Elephantman" Website.
What were you doing politically 2 years ago today? Politically? I was looking at the carpet going "OH NOOO" then hoping against hope that Mccain would pick someone good......
Have a Great Day!!
Don't mind at all! Is the media worse in Austrailia?
Top o' the sounds like walking on Cap'n Crunch mornin'! It's so nice to see you young whippersnappers starting the coffee, so to speak!
Be well, see ya then!
Good morning M. MInnesota! Unfortunately I was not aware of the Draft Palin for VP site two years ago. Two years ago I was expecting McCain would pick Romney for sure.
Aussie, she IS Sarah for all of us, so go right ahead!!! The moderators, in their posts, call her Governor Palin, out of respect. But they have also noted that we can and should, if we want, refer to her in our posts as "Sarah."
The main articles of the threads themselves are more formal; in the comments, we are more informal.
She is like family!!!
God bless!
I assume your speaking about me, good morning cookboy!
As long as you're '4'. does it really matter?
Good morning, M.Minnesota, and God bless!!
Mia - where R U? Praying all is OK.
Mornin' Laker!
Me too, but I suspect Mia is here just choosing not to comment, I noticed in the Redding speech thread, somebody said "Where's Mia?" Guess who liked the comment?
..and the Pipsqueak!

Is it possible for the Left to open its mouth without spewing out some sort of sexual innuendo? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/abraham/detail??blogid=95&entry_id=56890 From the same idiot who slammed Allen West and countless other stuff. First teabaggers and now hand jobs. Some people can't think about anything without making it about sex. No wonder the Palin-haters are obsessed with her legs.
And Meghan McCain is an idiot. I'll take her Dad over her any day.
And I'm willing to bet that Munger was the Guest who made those comments about Palin traveling while pregnant about a week ago. That stuff is right up his alley.
Good mornin'!
That was a great article.
Good morning!
Interesting article in the NY Times with quotes from Jason Recher, John Cole, and Kristan Cole - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/06/us/politics/06palin.html
Good morning!
Good morning!
2 years ago today? More than likely I was juggling a new class schedule and dreading hauling those 60 pound cameras all over campus.

<span>As for VP, I was just hoping McCain wouldn't pick Lieberman. </span>
Anybody think the MSM is going to slam Stephen Colbert for what he said last night?
The 2nd half (the SFgate) speaks more of how bad and useless the reporter than anything Sarah did.
Didn't think so.
What did he say?
Morning guys,
On my way to "Nawlins" to see "The Saints Come Marching Home" parade and celebration ......should make it there in time for coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde and maybe get a special Mardi Gras King Cake at my favorite bakery on St. Charles Avenue........the real dilemma....where to have lunch.......sooo many choices.......maybe I visit several of my favorite places and just enjoy a dish from each.......anyway the day should be fun....a little chilly(high 40's or low 50's) but a day filled with sunshine and good times none the less.......meeting friends at the piano bar at Pat O'Brians for afternoon cocktail before the parade.......see ya'll later.
Morning Kjanlady! Hope you have a good day!
They seem very familiar with those practices in San Francisco, don't they, well this is the home of San Fran Nan, Feinstein and Boxer, try to live that down
Rush Limbaugh used satire to highlight the disgusting nature of Rahm Emanuel. Colbert uses it to highlight what? Sarah Palin's? What kind of F***ed up thing is that? The woman who has a down syndrome child, yeah, let's pick on her. Let's ignore the fact that the NDSS called Rahm out first.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/09/colbert-sarah-palin-is-a_n_454744.html
Hate to link the Compost, but here it is.
And Colbert - who says satire is always funny? Ever read that Jonathan Swift piece where people were eating babies? That wasn't very funny.
Okay, enough dark clouds for one morning. Here's hoping it snows like crazy and work gets cancelled tonight.
He's a hack for Obama, I hope his ratings continue to go down.
Just makes me mad. Grrrrrrrr.
She is okay Chillin...Helping a friend through a rough time! She sends her love!
Don't worry about it, he's just a pathetic little worm.
Good Morning ALL!
Riley4...I am so Sorry for your loss! I understand! If found tho..that with a loss of a
family pet...Look at it as if you gave them the best life possible...and they would have
had no better life than with you! It helped me to think that way...
Prayers my friend!....Mia...you as well!
Okay off to brave the roads! Stay Safe all!
Great post my Ed Morrissey over at HotAir: http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/09/video-noted-leg-thriller-warns-about-the-dangers-of-charismatic-politicians/
This is the best line: Instead of getting thrills up his leg, Palin apparently sends something down his leg, but it’s not based on reality — it’s based on Matthews’ animosity towards anyone who opposes the man to whom he pledged allegiance.

Good Morning
"Faith and God in general has been mocked through this campaign, and that breaks my heart,
People would misconstrue and spin anything that has to do with my faith or anybody else's and turn it into something to be mocked. That's very sad."
"nobody is going to convince me that my foundation of faith is not good for me and for my family no matter the mocking, no matter what anybody says about it."
"It will take God's hand of protection to be continually over our land and His wisdom, His grace, His favor. I pray for that, for our country." quote Sarah Palin interview CBN - 10-26-08

I t is curious, how they are trying to rewrite the story of the Christmas bomber, how for three days, he didn't even address the issue, while the connections to AQAP were plain as day to those who wanted to see.
Good morning Beehive, love the Sarah Palin quotes!
Good Morning, C4P!
Never a dull moment with our Sarah. Loving every minute of it.
It's just that they miss the whole point. Rush was using it to point out the original scumbag. Others now use it to give the scumbag a pass and go after the good guys instead. Of course. Don't know why I would ever expect any different.
He is like all the other left loons. I don't watch them. The best they can hope for is their ratings get so bad they have to start laying off staff (Katie Couric). When this happens being the limousine liberals they are they will not see how hypocritical they are to keep their big salary while mid class staffers go to the unemployment line. The Staffers left will develop disdain for their boss and they will give minimum effort. Expect Katie to go from bad to worse as her staff will give minimum effort. So the point is don't watch the left loons and they dry up and blow away.
It looks like FLOTUS is out defending her hubby, whom she calls by his full name (kinda weird to me):
http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/02/michelle-obama-defends-hubby-from-palins-attacks-change-isnt-easy-doesnt-happen-overnight/
Good write up of yesterday's Redding events.
"Sarah Palin drew enthusiastic crowds and standing ovations at a sold-out speech Monday night in Redding when she called for changes to America's leadership.
The former vice presidential candidate, speaking at the Redding Convention Center, also heard loud cheers when she said those changes would come from the people, whom she said are the best part about the country."
"I've always had a soft spot for you guys and gals in the industry," she said. "... You built this country. You know what hard work is all about.
Environmental lawsuits that continue to cripple the timber industry need to stop, she said, and there can be a balance of preserving wilderness and logging."
She then went on to hit on many of the hottest current political topics during her speech, including the economy, the performance of the Obama administration and health care. Palin also took several shots at mainstream media, calling them the "lame stream."
"The notion prompted Morton Giesecke, 70, of Redding, to craft his own campaign sign, which he carried with him to the second speech.
It read: "Palin-Paul 2012."
He said he thought Palin and Ron Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas, would make the perfect conservative ticket.
"She's on the right track," Giesecke said. "And you can underline 'right.' "
"Palin said she's building an office in a new hangar her husband is building at their Alaskan home for his Piper Cub airplane. She said she plans to do her work for Fox from the office and have a fireplace so she can enjoy the smell of burning wood."
"Following five warm-up songs by the country group California Cowboys, Palin spoke for about 40 minutes. She then took questions from Nadine Bailey, the logging conference's executive director, for about 15 minutes before leaving to catch a plane."
"Bailey said Palin was headed back to her home state of Alaska.
Palin, arrived by private jet at the Redding Jet Center shortly after noon on Monday and was met by an SUV. It wasn't clear where she went before finally arriving at the Convention Center.
Bailey said the logging conference paid for her security during her Redding visit, including a police escort for her SUV."
"Rep. Wally Herger, R-Chico, who was among the north state's elected leaders at the evening speech, said Palin's thoughts and concerns are similar to those he hears from the people he represents in Northern California.
"I think she is right on," Herger said. "She is really taking the bull by the horns."
Among those who cheered Palin on loudly where Julie Cusiter, 45, of Redding, and her 10-year-old daughter, Jennifer Cusiter.
"I just like what she had to say," Julie Cusiter said. "She tells you the truth."
Her daughter also liked what she heard.
"There were many Palin fans at the Convention Center on Monday, including some who said they drove an hour or more to see one of the speeches.
"She so fresh," said Stella Mignano, 80, of Cottonwood. "She sparkles."
Helen Ecklund of Cottonwood and her 16-year-old granddaughter, Shae Thompson, spent about two hours Monday afternoon outside the Redding Convention Center hoping to see Palin.
"We just decided that maybe she (Thompson) could get a glimpse of her," Ecklund said"

<p><span>I love Mark Levin. Last night he said on Sarah’s speech:<span> "</span>This is solid stuff ladies and gentleman, solid stuff!"</span>
<span>But Mark, according to Dan Riehl it was nothing but GOP boilerplate.</span></p>
Everyone's freaking out about the writing on Palin's hand at the TPNC. I wonder how many people noticed her Track Palin wristband.
Um..Michelle...we don't want this kind of change....
I know I go around calling my husband by his first and last name. Nothing weird there! hahaha
Thank goodness that kind of change doesn't happen overnight.
Bob and Mark talking about Parnell in some psas.
Mark is the best. Dan Riehl can go..... I leave it to your imagination. :)

Rasmussen DTP:
-13 (27-40) strongly approve-strongly disapprove
-6 (47-53) approve-disapprove
The last two days have been better polling days for Obama. Perhaps it was his interview with Katie Couric before the Super Bowl (I didn't watch it) or his gesture to meet at Blair House to conduct a "bipartisan" health summit but honestly Rasmussen right now appears to be going against the grain with the Marist poll for example which shows Obama's poll numbers going south in a big way.
This approval rebound by Obama could result in a stabilization of his numbers between 46 and 48 or could it signal again Obama's ability to again rise like a phoenix and hit 50 again with Rasmussen. Stay tuned.
BAM talking about Sarah's crib notes.
Clueless Allahpundit at Hot Air can't understand why Tea Partiers aren't big fans of Ron Paul: http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/08/newest-target-of-tea-partiers-er-ron-paul/
Allahpundit is the athiest who dislikes Sarah Palin because of her strong religous beliefs.

Good article by Tony Blankley from Washington Times
BLANKLEY: Palin delivers sparkle, warmth
"Reagan was the Palin of his time. I am not equating the two yet. She still has much to prove to the public (as Reagan did in 1966). "
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/feb/08/palin-delivers-with-sparkle-and-sincerity/?feat=home_headlines
<p><span><span> </span></span>
</p><p><span>Techno,</span>
</p><p><span>Speaking of Mitt, I found this exchange yesterday between Megan Kelly and NRO’s editor Rich Lowry to be interesting.</span>
<span>Lowry:<span> </span>“…about Mitt Romney being yesterday’s news, the Republican Party has a tendency to nominate yesterday’s news, it’s a very kind of regal party where they nominates the next one in line, and I think that probably Mitt Romney is the next one in line, but uh, he would be a very weak front runner and this thing is wide open and again that is why Palin would be foolish to close the door.”<span> </span>
Two things to pick up on, the first and most obvious is that he said Romney is a “very weak front runner”.<span> </span>And second, didn’t Lowry essentially say that Romney is “yesterday’s news”? </span></p>
Thanks Jim more dialogue here:
cringetalk <span>@PatrickinOH You have got to be kidding me. NHS? My god. And who gives a sh!t about the Kennedys? #assclown #douche #moron</span>

<span></span>
<span>cringetalk</span> <span>@<span>PatrickinOH</span> Absolutely not an Obama supporter. No one has yet to step up to the plate that I see qualified.</span>
Neal Boortz is talking about Sarah now. Says he will drag the the GOP down if she runs in 2012. But says she's more qualified than Obama.
Wow. That's the first I've seen someone use past tense for that comparison. It's usually Sarah is the Reagan of this time, not Reagan was the Sarah of his time. Interesting. :)
You can vote as many times as you want in that poll.
Good morning everyone!!!!
I don't care what anyone says, but O looks..."sedated" in both his Navy Corpseman moment speech and his Burry me in in a O T-Shirt ramble. His lids were closing, he slurred his speech in the Navy Corpseman "event" and he was rambling (obviously winging it off TOTUS) in his Obama burial speech. Just saw him live on Fox and he was slouched and heavy lidded again.
I can really see him throwing his hands up at some point, or having them thrown up for him.
And dragging the GOP down is bad because....?
I could give a flying fig what she does to the GOP. I care more about what she will do for the country.
Hasn't responded yet, thanks again Jim. :)
And because she's pretty which makes him hide behind the couch whenever she's on (bad experiences with pretty girls in school).
AP's ignorance is willful. Drives up traffic too.
Boortz says Romney, Huckabee, and even Gingrich can win but not her. What's he smoking?
Good morning Diedre!
Palin has a lot of people to surprise come 2012.
<p><span><span>Wait, since when has Boortz been so concerned about the GOP?<span> </span></span></span>
<span>I’m not too worried about Boortz, Sarah still has the big four conservatives in talk radio:<span> </span>Rush, Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce and Hannity.</span></p>
I realize you guys and gals probably already saw it, but Pam Geller taking down 3 Progressives last night was priceless. I don't watch Joy's show, but I caught the clip at Gateway Pundit, and Geller more than held her own. Of course, it was 3 against 1, but Pam didn't need much help with the 3 dimwits they pitted her against. She clearly got under Ron Reagan's skin, and that alone was worth watching. :)
http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/02/pamela-geller-destroys-ron-reagan-jr-on-joy-behar-show-video/#comments
I like Boortz but he is the last holdout of the Star Talk Radio stars. I don't count Bill Bennett.
Hes a back bencher.
Boortz's opinion's about as important as a sweat towel in a snow storm.
You're right jimr3. She's got the big guns (I'd add Ingraham although she's still a little flakey with Sarah).
Really snarky tweet from Boortz: <span>Talkmaster</span> <span>I wish someone had reminded me that Sarah Palin was was Jesus Christ before I said she couldn't be elected. My bad.</span>
<span></span>
<span>On the plus side his call screener Belinda, loves Sarah. I don't care much either about Boortz Jim, he's just on in the morning here and is ok most of the time, but he can't stand pro-life people.</span>
Thanks, Yogi! I heard about it, but I hadn't seen it. I'll have to watch it after work.
FTA: "But the smarty pants who have driven America into the ditch by discarding traditional American values and principles should be cautious in writing off the most effective national advocate for such values precisely at the time that leftist programs have so conspicuously failed and outraged the public."
Amen Brother!
I'm listening to Beck talk about Meg McCain. OMG this chick has a freakin kool-aid drip in her arm. She said she is a Progressive Republican....what the hell it that? Is she intentionally trying to hurt her father and Sarah. Glenn is also pissing me off though saying he thinks Sarah is in trouble by some of the candidates she has picked. He is on his Sarah gets it but why did she back McCain kick again. He also doesn't like TX Perry pick. I think his tv show is educational but his radio third party push can give us Obama four more years. Sarah understands this, why can't he. She has run for office in her state with both parties against her and I trust she knows what she is doing.
Good Tammy Bruce program yesterday. Many, much Sarah. Five parts worth:

MarkR--I thought the same thing about the Coprseman moment--I thought they were playing it at first because he was out of it---until I heard him say "corpse man". And the buried in an O T-shirt well, that was just plain goofy...I still can't believe he didn't know the ladies name...SAD!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Obama seemed "sedated!" (Nice word--not the first one that came to my mind when I saw him)
Believe it or not I think Bristol is the main reason Boortz is holding out. He is death on Single mothers and teenage pregnancy. I E-Mailed him yesterday with my normal response to Conservatives like him. She will have to survive the Republican Primaries. If she gets through the Demates, interviews etc for that then she would have proved herself.
What? Well, that explains a lot. I've only heard him a couple of times, so I wouldn't know.
Boortz was on MSNBC right after Sarah's speech to the TP people. He said that the minute she starting talking about abortion most people turned off their TVs and no way would she ever be accepted by the GOP.
Look some people when talking to hold out Conservatives do need to use caution on their responses. Attacks you deliver to individuals you will never win over must be differnet than the ones on people like Boortz that may be late to the fight but will enter the fight.
This is big folks. Very positive articles today from Ralph Reed and Tony Blankley about Sarah and her speech at the Tea Party Convention. These men have been very prominent in conservative politics and elections during the past 20 years They are both media savvy and would be important allies for Sarah if she runs in 2012. She will need effective spokespersons (and defenders) to appear on the cable news shows to help make her case and defend against the opponents talking heads. These two have proven they are effective. I hope she reaches out to them. Go Sarah.
Here's Pt. 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X-jG10unn4
Didn't he see that gallup poll that says a majority of Americans consider themselves pro-life?
You should listen to Mark Levin dress down Beck on the third party thing. It's hilarious.
This is always an interesting topic. It always is with my family. Everyone likes Sarah Palin in my family, thinks she was treated unfairly by the press, but even my own husband doesn't think she can beat Obama. He said the only possible way she could win is if she just demolishes him in debates, and he said Obama usually isn't that horrible of a debater, that he just makes crap up and no one calls him out on it.
I see his point to a certain extent. Everyone has an opinion about Palin. They either love her or hate her. It is hard to make haters lover her or even look at the truth, their minds are made up already. I think there are people that are luke-warm about her, but I don't think it's enough to push her over the top.
I do believe she knows this, and I don't see her running unless she is absolutely certain she has a fair chance against Obama.
Okay, good night everyone.
What a damn jerk.
<span>
<p><span>That tweet was completely uncalled for.<span> </span>I thought Boortz was all for reducing the size of the federal government, reducing taxes, getting government out of the way of the private sector, energy independence, support of the 10th admendment, excetera.<span> </span>These are the issues that Boortz and now Sarah have been articulating.<span> </span><span> </span>So why take a cheap shot at someone who is only advacting what he has been saying for years? <span> <span>Becouse she is not for snuffing out the life of an unborn baby in the womb as he is?</span> </span></span>

Juju, that's the conventional thinking/wishful thinking that she's going to forever put to sleep. This is a winning issue if handled well. She's the perfect one to carry the torch.
Take it in doses. It's really hard to watch the entire thing straight through. Screaming, yelling and name-calling, but when Pam does get a word in, she almost makes Ronnie cry. It's in the first 5 minutes, and Ron and Pam fight about Ronald Reagan's opinion of Sarah.
You all may have seen this already but even NY Magazine thinks that Sarah may have pawned the media with the palm of her hand:
<span>Haters had a grand time over the weekend mocking Sarah Palin for writing crib notes on her hand at the Tea Party Convention. But now we're wondering: Did she really need to be reminded of the main tenets of her own platform, or was she setting up her detractors to become a punchline in her own genius joke? Because the next day, at an event for Texas governor Rick Perry, a photographer snapped another note on her palm — this time it read, "Hi Mom!" Okay, not bad. The ability to be self-deprecating is always an admirable trait for a politician. Except, as news outlets like ourselves pick up on the new palm-note story, the joke's actually on us. Because Sarah Palin has now spelled out in explicit fashion what's been evident for a while now: She truly does have the media eating out of the palm of her hand.

Social issues Jim.
Thanks Uffda!
No I didn't. Thanks CTSherman, this is awesome!

I notice that two progressive women with blogs are trying to make their readers take the Tea Party and Sarah Palin seriously.
Arianna Huffington wrote an article warning her readers not to dismiss this movement or Sarah. Another one, Taylor Marsh, has been ringing the bell for the past few months, loudly trying to warn progressives that Sarah Palin is not to be taken lightly.
Of course, their readers poo-poo their warnings and advice. It's interesting to see the chasm between people who write about politics (Huffington and Marsh) and their readers who think they know everything about politics.
I hate to direct any traffic to HuffPo, but her article is pretty good. Here's a snippet from Zsa Zsa:
"I was within an inch of singing along: 'Yeah, where are the consequences!? You tell 'em, Sarah!'"

IIRC, he endorsed Huckabee in the last primary, so I don't think it's abortion. I think Boortz is just an obnoxious, mysoginist prick.
<span>From Rush’s site:</span>
<p><span><span><span>Sarah Palin's Tea Party Speech; Reagan's 1980 Debate with Bush<span></span></span></span></span>
<span>A comparison:<span> </span>Leading conservatives, then and now.</span></p>
So he's just a sexist pig, that's nice.
Man, I wouldn't buy into that. O's falling apart. There's already talk, among libs too, of a primary challenge. I've heard it. 2 years from now he's going to be a sitting duck. I think whoever wins the Repub primary is the next POTUS. Sarah would CRUSH him in a debate. Instead of being an unknown, media hyped slogan, he's going to have a record to defend.
O might be the least of her worries.
She's crazy like an Alaskan Fox...and I'm loving every damn minute of it.
Thanks for posting CT!
A down side to being in Alaska.... there are already 122 comments on the morning thread at 7:40am!!!
Good morning everyone!
Uffda do you know the date of that Levin show?
If not its ok...I can dig it up myself. Oh and thanks for the Tammy program have her on now. =)
Interesting how she can't name anything to mock about Sarah's keynote speech.
I do not like Glen Beck. I tolerate him bc he likes SP but his constant pushing of a Third Party is assinine. That wouldn't do anyone any good but Obama. Stylistically, his boilerplate question, "How do you not lose your soul when you get to D.C.?" is annoying and a little weird. Palin, to her credit, handled that question wonderfully. She also handled Beck reading his diary to her in which the subject was her. (><) Wtf?
I realize many on here like him. He does good stuff but he's too much of a loose nut and I don't like him to get too close to Palin. But she's a big girl and she knows what she's doing.
Good morning! How are things on the Last Frontier?
A caller just gave Boortz some grief over his comments about Sarah, way to go caller!
<span>That’s the thing I don’t get RHINO-Hunter, he endorses Huckabee, yet he doesn’t like Sarah because of her pro-life opinion.<span> </span><span> </span>As far as Boortz being a “<span>misogynist prick”, I’m not willing to go that far yet but I’m beginning to really wonder.</span></span>
The only reason Boortz supports Huckabee is because he supports the Fairtax, which Boortz helped create. Not sure where Sarah stands on it.
TexMex, I'm with you. As Uffda mentioned, you should hear Levin go off on him without naming him. As to his likeing Sarah, let's see what happens. I'll leave it at that (for now).
AP can be very annoying, but he's one of those who I think prefers policy wonk-types.
He's hit and miss for me.
Catch you later guys, have to go shovel the driveway, we're expecting 10 more inches of snow today. I just love gorebull warming.
Both Rush and Levin have made the comparison in their own ways. Neither have come close to doing that before.
That's a good point Patrick. A lot of the "fair tax" people are single-issue and don't care about anything else.
Two revelations on the weekend form the theme of about what I am going to discuss:
1) Andrew Malcolm of the LA Times in a podcast with Melissa Clouthier (Right Wing News) discussed how both political parties, especially the Republicans, in the past chose their presidential candidates, that folks had to have years of experience on the ground, have a major influence on the political discourse for years, except for the occasional military man (eg Eisenhower) and be able to be capable of navigating around the land mines that beset all presidential candidates. There was certainly a less emphasis of charisma and media presence, especially in the GOP, and more on seniority, the advanced age of the candidate or perceived gravitas. For example did you know that the last GOP nominee under 50 to be nominated was Richard Nixon in 1960, and the primary reason he got the nomination was he had been Eisenhower's VP. If Palin gains the nomination she will be 48 when she does or if she becomes POTUS. By the way the last GOP President to be in his 40's when he served as POTUS was Theodore Roosevelt after he got the job after the assassination of McKinley in 1901.
2) Palin's revelation that she would strongly consider running for POTUS
Now merging these two themes together let me first explode one of the myths of becoming POTUS--that is somehow the job falls into your lap magically or through serendipity and that you shouldn't make it appear that you are pursuing the job.
Let me again fall back to a sport analogy. You are a boxing promoter who is always on the lookout for new talent. One day he spots a fledgling boxer who he sees has a lot of talent. He approaches him and tells him that with his help he can one day become the heavyweight champion of the world if he does what he tells him and works hard. Now let's say the boxer tells the promoter, "I'm not interested in being the champion; boxing is only a part-time avocation for me-I'm in it only to make some quick bucks so I can go to college and become a lawyer." Now despite that comment does the promoter invest thousands of dollars in the fighter over time knowing the boxer's heart is not in it. Not if he is smart he won't. That would be like flushing money down the toilet. Dreams are created and nursed by individuals; they cannot be manufactured by others.
In Jan 2009, two events occurred that told me that Sarah Palin wanted to run for POTUS in 2012: her participation in the documentary Media Malpractice to rehabilitate her image and the establishment of SarahPAC to help Congressional candidates in the 2010 midterm elections. If Sarah Palin were content to live out her remaining days, like so many first-time losing VP candidates in virtual obscurity, she would have resigned herself as being the best governor she could be, run for re-election in 2010 and then either retire in 2014 or run for Begich's Senate seat then and she certainly wouldn't be vowing to help Congressional candidates in the lower 48 in 2010 get elected. What does that have to do with being Governor of Alaska? Virtually nothing.
And I have always said the Democrats may be devious, diabolical and nefarious but they are not stupid. They saw the exact same signs as I did and that was when they concocted a plan in cahoots with their brethren in Alaska to make Palin's life hell by filing one frivolous ethics complaint after another to bring her administration virtually to a halt (Palin has admitted on several occasions 80% of her staff's time and her time was spent in the winter and spring dealing with these complaints) and because of a quirkiness in the Alaska law force Palin into personal bankruptcy. The goal of the Obama war room, in employing Alinsky tactics against Palin was to keep her [...]
Good point Patrick about the fair tax, I had forgot about that.
Sarahpac e-mail:
Dear Supporter,
Last month marked the one-year anniversary of Sarah PAC, and I want to personally extend to you my sincere thanks for your support and our shared goals of common sense solutions and values. It's been an incredible year and 2010 brings us the opportunity to continue that success.
In this pivotal election year, we have an opportunity to focus our direction and spread the ideals on which our Nation was founded. There are ripe opportunities in campaigns across the Country and winning these races will be our focus. Thirty-seven Governorships, one third of the United States Senate, and the entire House of Representatives is up for election. There are State Senate and State Legislature races where only a few seats mean the difference between more of what we have seen or what we share as a vision for this great Country.
We are in a position to help make this change and I hope you will again join with us to renew your support of Sarah PAC. Your involvement is an honor and your continued support is critical to provide the ability to support those candidates and campaigns in all areas of our Nation.
I will be on the campaign trail for our candidates across this great land and with your help we can make our position stronger and increase our chances of bringing our core beliefs to the Country we love.
With an Alaskan heart and national pride, thank you for your generous support and best wishes for a prosperous and free 2010 for you, your families and those you love.

Lol-I never get these.
Hey Whitney, you're always quoting Thatcher. What's a good biography on her? I've read too little about her.
<p><span><span>Earlier, Rush was talking about CNN’s Wolfe Blitzer reporting on Hand Gate.<span> </span></span></span>
<span>Instead of mocking Sarah, <span>Wolfe might want to a cue from Sarah and scribble a few notes on his own hand before his next his appearance on Jeopardy.</span> </span></p>
In any future endeavor or walk of life, if you think about it, folks with a dream that pursue a course of action usually have the fire in their belly, that what he/she is pursuing is his/her primary focus or mission and that he/she has the talent and work habits to achieve his/her goal. And once he/she achieves this goal, eventually he/she formulates a new goal and works towards achieving that eventually and this cycle is repeated again and again until one perceives he/she cannot advance up the totem pole any longer or does not have the fire in the belly to do so. In terms of politics, there are many governors who have no desire to ever run for POTUS, let alone the talent to do so.
And that lack of desire to move up or a lack of ability or talent to advance further is what the concept of the Peter Principle is all about. For those not familiar with this term it can be defined as when one reaches his/her level of incompetence by taking on a new job which one is not capable of being productive or becomes a screw-up in one's new role. So when you hear a lot of names bandied about you must bear that in mind. Simply most of these folks are not going to run for POTUS because they understand the Peter Principle.
And based on the concept of the Peter Principle a primary reason I am such a strong supporter of Sarah Palin is that I am extremely confident that she would never become a victim of the Peter Principle in either running for POTUS or assuming the job itself. In other words the bottom line is that Sarah Palin has the requisite fire in her belly, is willing to work hard and smart to get her ducks in a row to prepare for a presidential run over at least 2-3 years, and then can perform and execute when she needs to or is expected to.
So again there are names thrown around but many folks don't want to be POTUS, don't want to be forced to commit 2-3 years of their life which ends up in failure, or aren't capable in 2012 to win enough friends and influence enough people because of a lack of political skills or charisma on the campaign trail or on TV.
And I have said this before but it bears repeating, what you see now in terms of the GOP race for the presidency is what you are probably going to get: Palin, Romney, Huckabee and possibly a dark horse that emerges. But that dark horse better start to organize ASAP or his campaign will go the way that Fred Thompson's did in 2008. And that dark horse, unless he is content to be a fringe candidate must be realistic about his chances to prevail unless he is masochistic about his chances to beat Palin, Romney, and Huckabee.

<span>For some reason, I don’t get them either.<span> </span></span>

Think it's not meant to be particularly flattering, but she still looks good.
Hmm....well I haven't donated as much as I would have liked to, so maybe this is SarahPac's subtle way of encouraging me to do so. :) I've heard that some people have found such e-mail in their Spam/junk folders so perhaps check that out.
Mark--I too need to read more about her. My reading list in general is upwards of 25 books right now while I'm currently reading 3 books. It's a miracle that me, a little stupid, illiterate Sarah Palin supporter can even read! Many of the quotes I've been posting from her are from Thatcher's book, Statecraft, which was published in 2002 by HarperCollins, interestingly. :)
I have read the President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister by John O'Sullivan which was an excellent book about Thatcher, Reagan, and Pope John Paul II's roles in defeating Communism.
<span>This is <span>an interesting article</span> in NRO by Rich Lowry on the Tea Party and Sarah Palin.</span>
Good point on the spam folders, I will do that.
Mine went in Junk Mail

That's a good start. Thanks. I've been meaning to get O'Sullivan's book. Going to get both on Amazon now. Your Lotus blog's a riot btw.
What this eventual scenario or probable configuration does for Palin is to allow to gain confidence that she knows who her opponents will be and plan for that as we move down the road. You would think in this modern age of rapid technological advancements that it would allow for more choices to appear but in GOP with 3 fairly strong candidates I would submit that it gives Palin, Romney and Huckabee even more of an opportunity to solidify their position as a major player and because of the 24/7 nature of media communciations makes it less likely somebody from out of nowhere is going to sneak up on anybody.
And speaking of modern communications and technology, Palin is making full use of all its instruments: the Internet, blogosphere, Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, blackberries, I-phones etc and as I have said on many occasions that if Palin had plans to run in the 1970's when Reagan ran, she would not have a chance in hell to prevail without her use of modern 21st technology. Palin is truly a candidate of the 21st c.
And to her age, experience, perceived lack of gravitas, Palin can leverage this modern technology over the next two years to gain more experience, add gravitas and prove that her age is no liability to her performing as an excellent candidate and then a fantastic president. Perceptions can be changed a lot faster in the 21st c than they could be in the 1970's. If it were still the 1970's, the narrative of stupidity and incompetence that the MSM foisted upon Palin would have stuck for years, but with modern technology she has through her Facebook posts and continual coverage of the Going Rogue Tour and accompanying interviews she has gotten back to square one and thus able now to convince millions of Americans now to give her a second look or to reassess their evaluation of her. And yes I will not deny that Palin's charisma has had a major role to play in her rehabilitiation but without modern technology I fear it would have taken much longer for her to pull off, if ever. Remember Dan Quayle has never truly rehabilitated himself from the image the MSM created for him 15-20 years ago.
Let me close by saying that Malcolm admits that we are now going through a profound change in American politics and that with that change he would not discount Palin's odds of becoming our next President.
As Brit Hume mentioned yesterday in his interview with BOR, he was impressed with Palin's performance in her interview with Chris Wallace. Hume doesn't throw around these comments lightly. He is a serious journalist. Folks are beginning to wake up that Palin has indeed boned up in her knowledge of domestic and foreign affairs (take that Charles Krauthammer) and has made great strides in her overall presentation and execution. How many folks now still think that Palin is a total doofus, devoid of experience or that Obama is more capable of being POTUS than Palin? Not nearly as many as a year ago. And one year from now when Palin probably announces for the Presidency it will be even fewer in 2011.
Palin is now poised to make even greater strides in 2010. She will not become a victim of the Peter Principle and crash and burn. That is why the Far Left has become even more unhinged in the last couple days than they normally are and the MSM is doubling down on their attempts to demonize Palin. Palin is formidable and finally even though the NO Saints were an underdog to the Colts, they were also formidable. And you know what happened on Sunday.
Thanks, Mark! :) I should clarify that I haven't read Statecraft yet; I've just found quotes online from that one.

Palin now skyrocketing on Intrade, up to 25, which is highest I believe she has been.
Also, amazing the sheer NUMBER of trades made. Volume is quite remarkable. I suspect it might be due to seriousness that is being seen with her meeting in Tennessee with the fundraisers, and her positive response.

Today we see favorable pieces on Palin by Ralph Reed, Tony Blankley, and Monica Crowley. Could the word be now out there that Palin is prepared to take the next step and consult or network with more prominent folks?
No one here thinks she is jesus christ. I guess Boortz now is acting like Obama by putting up straw men and knocking them down. She is her own person, not beholden to any machine, which is one reason why we like her.
If you arent getting them make sure they arent being blocked as spam, or might be going to your bulk mail folder or something like that. Also sometimes it takes a few days to get them all out. One time, it didnt come to me for 2 days when others were getting it. Sometimes mass emails work like that in the email system.
<p><span><span><span><span>I would also add the words by Brit Hume on BOR last night and also what Rich Lowry wrote today in NRO about Sarah and the Tea Party movement.<span> </span>And speaking of Lowry, maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I was a bit surprised at what he said last night about Mitt Romney:</span></span></span></span>

</p><p><span><span>Make no mistake; this past weekend was huge, HUGE for Sarah.<span> </span></span></span>
</p><p><span><span><span></span>As far as the word going out about her taking the next step to consult and network with more prominent folks, <span>this story</span> leads me to believe she may be. </span></span></p>
Almost no one in the lower 48 is aware of Sarah's retail political skills. Meeting and greeting people around Iowa, South Carolina, Florida, and Ohio etc. We will not be shocked, but many people will be when she gets out there in person and her numbers keep improving. This skill cannot be taught.
I think it is better to call her Sarah. She is one of the people. We need leaders like that.
Think about it, the senators and even the president of this country work for us. We are their boss. We should be able to call them what we like. As soon as they feel they are too good to be called by just their first name, they are elitists and not of the people.
Can anyone shed light on what is happening with Iran right now? Are they really going to make good on their promise later in the week? I feel like we should be taking a lot more aggressive action against them.
Did anyone notice on today's Rush Limbaugh program that Rush proposed a "crossfire session" that on the Democratic side would be comprised of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid and our side Rush, Mark Levin and PAUL RYAN. Again Ryan is singled out first by Sarah and now Rush. This was not by accident. I think he is being looked at as a serious VP candidate by many conservatives.
That was astonishing that Lowry said that about Romney; he has been in Romney's corner for a long time or at least has looked askance at Palin and had written several pieces that I could dub anti-Palin or at least showed he was cool to her. And Lowry is the editor of National Review Online so he is just not any freelance writer. The tide may have turned.
Wasn't it just 6 months ago that many of these folks like Lowry were writing Palin's political obituary? Isn't life grand?
Tech: I haven't read one of your long posts for sometime, not because i didn't want to, but because I have been very busy with personal things at home. Just let me say....great post and I agree with everything you have written. There is only one thing I would add to your post and as trivial as this may sound, I have always believed there is a large percentage of people that vote on personality and looks because they actually have very little politicial
convictions yet they want to be a voter. No one fills this position like Sarah.
Scott Brown might be a close second. Wouldn't that be a great team???
<span>You know, <span>Lowry started to turn around a bit after her Hong Kong speech</span>. <span> </span>I wish C4P would make that speech a little more prominent on this site.<span> </span></span>
Hes from wisconsin too if i remember, so turning that state red would help our electoral chances I think.
Today Robert Gibbs before he started the press conference opened up the palm of his hand and revealed the words HOPE and CHANGE. Is Palin getting to the WH or not?
Lowry throwing Romney under bus? Interesting.
This Gibbs stunt makes it doubly clear, the whole media hysteria about the notes on her hand was driven by the WH. Don't buy the media are smart to do it by themselves. The WH is behind it 100%.
It also makes it official that the WH thinks that SP is equal to them.
My worst fears and Rush's worst fears apparently will come to pass. Eric Cantor confirms the GOP will be attending the healthcare summit at Blair House on Feb 25th hosted by Obama. Idiots extraordinaire.

I'm almost close to suggesting that Palin start picking out the curtains.
Keep insulting her. Insulting us.
November 2010 is going to be a massacre.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
My note to Mr. Cantor:
<span>Greetings from Libbie Avenue! Just a note to say that virtually any so called issue facing our nation today is a result of laws or regulations put in place by the US government. Please bear this in mind in the course of your work. The government exists, it seems, largely for it's own sake. It shouldn't be this way, but it's hard to see otherwise. Please don't fall into any bipartisan action traps. The only action required is to undo many of the actions of the last 100 years or so. Americans will take care of the rest. Thank you for understanding. Your loyal constituent, cookboy</span>
I stopped listening to him. I refuse to listen to him. He can't just disagree with Sarah, he has to attack her intelligence. He's dead to me.
