It's Official: Obama Will Attempt to Force ObamaCare Through Reconciliation

Despite Dingy Harry Reid's ridiculous claim to the contrary, Obama and the Democrat Party leaders will resort to reconciliation to force ObamaCare on an unwilling nation. Via Jake Tapper at ABC News:

White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will say that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial reconciliation rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the "fix" to the Senate bill.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have been awaiting the president’s remarks direction on how health care reform will proceed.

[...]

The president will outline the plan to pass the bill, including having the House of Representatives pass the Democratic Senate health care reform legislation as well as a second bill containing various “fixes.”

He will say that if Republicans refuse to allow and up or down vote in the Senate on the fixes to the bill, Democrats will use the reconciliation rules.

Read the rest of Tapper's article here. It will be interesting to see how many Democrat lawmakers follow Obama off the cliff on this one. Allahpundit at Hot Air has more on this here.

Can anyone say President Palin 2012? This man is out of his mind and the American people need to wake up to this reality. We need a new president now! This is just mind blowingly stupid and this will indeed explode the ranks of the Tea Party movement. I am speechless.

If he actually goes thru with this, you can bet that whispers of impeachment will start to be floated about.

Obama needs his hearing checked.

I really believe this dude would never follow crosswalk signs when crossing the street.
Hey, I want to cross now. You can't tell me what to do. I'm Barack Obama. I will cross when I want to.

defendAmerica,  March 2, 2010 7:04 PM

As much as I hate to see this pushed through... it assures President Palin will win in a landslide...  I hope she comments tonight on Leno... what a HUGE platform to sell ideas to dems and indys who are unhappy with this news.

eclecticak,  March 2, 2010 7:07 PM

THEY LIED.....

I'm shocked..... NOT!

Deidre,  March 2, 2010 7:08 PM

I'm scared for this to pass.  I really am.  It will be hard to repeal if this goes through.  I'm praying extra hard these days.

terri,  March 2, 2010 7:10 PM

Deidre,
I think we're all praying hard.**sigh**

Steven,  March 2, 2010 7:10 PM

But really with the debt that this will produce, we'll have no choice but to repeal it. We can't afford it! I don't care what CBO says, the assumption on taxes and spending are not realistic. This willl send our fiscal situation over the cliff if we let this thing go through.

Deidre,  March 2, 2010 7:14 PM

It's nice to talk about repealing, but you know what it takes?  It takes a great deal of majorities in the house and senate for the GOP because if Obama vetos, we need a supermajority (I think) to override his veto.  It isn't like it can't be done, but it's just going to be hard work, and we have no idea how long it would take too repeal it.  I don't trust the GOP either......

Ceejay,  March 2, 2010 7:16 PM

Can O'Zero be tried for treason??   Democrats have lost their minds and we have lost our country!

Sarah 2012!!

Ceejay,  March 2, 2010 7:21 PM

What happened to the economy and jobs stupid!  This is maddening.....II Chron 5:7, if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves.......Lord Jesus we are humble and ask that this health care bill be blocked 60 different ways, Lord Jesus we pray!

Sarah 2012!

Ted Torgerson,  March 2, 2010 7:22 PM

Okay this virtually guarantees Palin will be elected in 2012. There was a chance that a huge Republican sweep in the mid terms would give people a taste for divided government. But now with Obama wielding the veto pen on the repeal of this monstrosity in 2011, Sarah should win 40 states ni 2012.

USMC,  March 2, 2010 7:32 PM

From now on all I want to hear from anyone wanting my votes are these two words:
Impeach and Repeal.

Ceejay,  March 2, 2010 7:35 PM

Congress should enroll in the healthcare plan first, and then if ok, tell the American people. NO the cowards will not partake of anything that they submit the American people to. Its revolution time, and time to revolt with our voices, faxes, emails and phone calls.

Sarah 2012!

terri,  March 2, 2010 7:48 PM

Ceejay....We've been doing that for months now and look what it's gotten us!

Steven,  March 2, 2010 7:49 PM

Well if they ram this thing through, GOP may have a supermajority eventually with the Tsunami election this year and the Palin wave election in 2012 (kinda like how the Dems did it). So all I am saying is that Obama himself may very well have to modify this bill to help his own reelection bid, because he is severely underestimating this bills unpopularity with the public.

Nicole (aka Recovering Dem),  March 2, 2010 7:50 PM

I want a federal government that stays the **** out of my life!

Obama, you have messed with the wrong country. We are not European socialist state. We believe in hard work, individual responsibility and FREE MARKETS.

This guy is really the most dishonest piece of garbage I've ever seen in my adult lifetime. Give me Bill Clinton any day of the week.

gelston the knowitall,  March 2, 2010 8:04 PM

techno has been the one to compare the current POTUS to Hitler. An extreme view but all too true.
Just has Hitler did not give up until the troops were within sight, Mr. Obama will fight to the end also.
Anyone who is predicting a landslide or a certain win for Mrs. Palin is blowing smoke.
We are still on the beaches of Normandy with a long fight ahead to reach the bunker.
cockiness is not our friend at this time.

manajordan,  March 2, 2010 8:08 PM

Wow, just wow.

What arrogance these people have to try to shove this down the collective American throat. Its like a nasty spoonful of syrup of ipecac. Its going to get barfed up and healthcare in America is going to be even messier than before.

an lifelong democrat-soon-2-B-independent,  March 2, 2010 8:11 PM

As a pretty conservative/centerist democrat, I can gurantee you if the Marxist Totalatarian Fraud pushes this piece of crap DeathCare thru via a cram-down America's throats. THE PARTY OF DEMOCRATS WILL BE FINISHED FOR YEARS. I SAY THIS AS A DEMOCRAT!

I will work, fundraise for any conservative who will protect the American public against this dictator-like Federal govt! And I will not be the only Democrat, Independent who feels this way.
The backlash will be very very severe.

LT,  March 2, 2010 8:18 PM

I'm afraid it's all upside for Obama now (at least in his mind). He expects to see incidents of actual rebellion -- and I am thinking he is looking forward to it. The people better be very careful here...

lmg,  March 2, 2010 8:19 PM

Work hard to put Common Sense Conservative Republicans on the ballot. Challenge every seat. Throw that witch Pelosi out of the speakership and out of the House. Same with the liar Harry Reid.

Republicans can take the House and stop Obama's agenda, then start demanding Special Prosecutors and investigations into all the dirty dealing and corrupt appointments. Tie him in knots. Make a mountain out of every molehill, just like the Democrats did to GWB for 8 years. Shove the Democrats' own medicine back down their #$%& throats.

lmg,  March 2, 2010 8:23 PM

It's the Congress that is doing this. They can't be impeached, but they can be voted out.

chicago's conservative,  March 2, 2010 8:36 PM

Wow this is such a politically inept move. Yes, reconciliation has been used before, but certainly not on something as big as overhauling the entire health care system.  Oh, but he "will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed." Some issue? First of all, there are many issues that they differ on. It sounds like he's going to just throw in some version of what the Republicans are seeking just to make it appear as if the bill is incorporating "Republican" ideas. Republicans will reject the bill for its weak attempt to adopt more free market solutions and this will allow Obama to say "hey, you know these Republicans are going to say 'No' no matter what. Even after I tried to give them some of what they wanted."  And he'll say that Reconciliation is necessary. Just my gut feeling.

lmg,  March 2, 2010 9:11 PM

They can add Republican ideas to their government takeover of health care, and it's still a government takeover of health care. The Republicans should refuse to play along, and should throw every possibly roadblock in front of it, while loudly telling the public what the Democrats are doing.
