Post-Ohio Right to Life Open Thread (Update)
-NBC says that "neither the audio nor the laughs were enhanced for Sarah Palin's segments on 'The Tonight Show.'" Since no other unbiased observer has come forward to substantiate Symbolman's charge, I wonder what a reasonable person is supposed to believe? His or her lying eyes, NBC, or some guy who yearns for a "prick tease."
-Here's NBC Nightly News with another feature on McCain v. Hayworth and a short preview of Palin's visit. Anybody know when her campaign appearance is scheduled to occur?
-The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel publishes another article about Sean Duffy's campaign to end the career of lifelong Democrat Party hack David Obey and notes that Duffy has "raised $400,000 and a shout-out from Sarah Palin helped."
-Here's a write-up from Cynthia Graham about the Ohio Right to Life event. Graham reports that "[Palin] stunned the Ohio Right to Life, and the audience, by explaining that she was returning her speaking fee to the cause of the voiceless unborn children." Graham also provides some video of Palin:
Update: More buzz for Sean Duffy . Palin makes a cameo in the video in that link.
Steven F. Hayward pens an editorial in the Washington Post titled "Would Reagan vote for Sarah Palin?"

That article is wonderful!!! Is there really a fair story out there about Sarah Palin???
Today we find out that the Silver Spoon stories were lies.. that the Leno "laughter" story is a lie... and then she turns around, gives a knock out speech, and turns her speaking fees back over to the Right to Life Movement.
This is why the left fears her.
hahaha....
I'm first...in over a year on this site and I have never been first...YES!!
Close.
LOL, Isaiah 49 v 16! That was great.
lol. sorry beehive :)
I think it's coming up on a year that I've been checking out C4P too. I lurked for a few weeks before commenting, and I've changed my name a few times...
defend!!!....you dogged me...I was supposed to be first...geeesh...
My moment of glory..gone...
What's with Sarah's voice? Did she get some dental work???
Awww....I'm never gonna get first...
it's just bad audio.
That was the best line of the night!
I didn't notice anything different about her voice.
sorry bee. buck up or get out of the truck... :)
the audio on that video clip is from a camera phone or something. in person, her voice was normal.
Hey defend did you meet the Palin Man? :)
hehe!!
whatever!

I bet the place really cheered when she donated the fee back to the cause huh?
I'm wondering if Sapwolf got a chance to get his shirt signed again.
The place went wild!
Symbolman's meds need to be tweaked.
LOL!!....is there a place left to get it signed?...
tweaked???
I bet the next lamestream media headline will read " Sarah Palin thinks she is God" : )
So where were you sitting defend? I was sitting alomost right next to that girl in the wheelchair who kept calling out to Sarah. Her mom kept trying to quiet her down. And then Sarah turned to her and smiled and said "It's ok, it's ok!"
Wow, Dr. G! :) Thanks!
he's had her sign it at least twice. he had it on when i met him at one of the book signings. the crowd down on the floor was so packed, that i'm not sure who was able to get in there.
adjusted?
sometimes, even in medicine, you have to admit failure and just start over!!!
i went to the reception, so i was up front.
defend and Patrick,
Love hearing all about your experiences! Thanks, it is awesome!:)
They have it as March26, 27 campaigning for McCain
http://texas4palin.blogspot.com/2009/11/unofficial-sarah-palin-events-calendar.html
Wouldn't doubt, but I am very intrigue by Palin's charitable generosity. I think this in the long run will set her apart. With all the money she is making, she can afford to give back more and set the bar high for similarly well endowed public figures. Keep a watch on this because its clear to me that she is giving back at a remarkable clip.
Lucky! If I had the $1,000 for it I would've gladly spent it. Not only just because I would've been closer to Sarah but because it goes to help save the lives of so many innocent babies!
Oh you were there? COOL
I want to see some video of that!
I got there about 10 minutes after 4 PM. There were about 5 protesters there! Pathetic. I picked out my seat and I talked quite a bit to some people sitting behind me from Kentucky. They were so nice. And to top it off there was another guy sitting close to me who looked very much like the Shat man!
It really is amazing how they lie about her. We all know its par for the course, but it still amazes me. I could not sleep at night if I lied like that.
<span>Thanks for all the Tweets by everyone, sounds like a great crowd as usual for Sarah and the occasion so close to her heart. Enamored by Sarah again! Should we ever be surprised? Another Sarah moment to remember this scripture and hand, like so many before, and God willing may she fill our lives with countless more.
Right to Life? Why in America dear God are we even having to consider this question? Forgive us where so many have told you to get out of our lives and leave us alone, to be the sole masters of our world and lives and make judgments of this kind to suit our worldly needs. We pray God for your grace, love and protection for Sarah and family, may her words tonight of all life being precious unto you, touch hearts and minds, and her example be lifted up for your glory alone--for all who attended and heard Sarah, they will spread your word of the preciousness of every human life to you. Amen</span>
Yeah I was there, look in the previous thread on the very last page.

<span>You know there is a part of me that feels protective of the Governor. I know I don't really have the right to feel that way because she can obviously handle anything. But, that part of me sometimes shouts out, "Just get out of politics Sarah and get away from all the nastiness." But, there is a bigger part of me that says we need her leadership. We need somebody that is honest enough to answer each and every ridiculous complaint. We need somebody who cares enough about the people they serve to try to do it in the most ethical and responsible way possible. She knew all along that she could not please everybody. She will continue to do what she feels is best. I trust her judgment.</span>

Hope AP fact checks Isaiah 49:16, they might learn something.
I was surprised by how man people were there when the doors opened. the few "protestors" looked like they were in high school... and they seemed to be protesting the presence of sarah palin, more than anything.
arnold schwartzeneger (sp?) was in columbus today too. wonder if there were any protestors greeting him :)
they'd hire 10 fact checkers and still try to find something out there to argue with.
somewhere there's a picture of God with nothing written on his hands.
They'll probably get all wee-weed up over what version she used or something like that, or they'll find some printing where that verse in on page 666.
They would find the scars from the nails, and say, see! she is a liar.
The bible? AP couldn't possibly be caught reading the bible, how "old-fashioned & unenlightened". Besides someone might accuse them of clinging to religion.
Funny that more people knew an irrelevent quitter was in Columbus than the Governator was. You would think they could get people who were of actual voting age to protest, epic fail.
Patrick
It's so nice to hear you and your excitement... She's something to be hold Isn't she?
Defend
Great to hear from you and all the excitement... she does this time and time again every where she goes, we just can's get enough of her and what she represents for us.
We all saw her emotional speech in Evanville Indiana. I was at her Wisconsin Right to Life speech where she take about Trig again. She talked about the first moment she saw Trig and how it made her feel. Answered prayer. If she continues to educate our daughters about that moment, maybe they will follow her lead. There will be no need to overturn Roe V. Wade, as it will be rendered obsolete. In 50 years history books will record her message was the moment women's hearts began to change.
how does the proverb go... "<span>The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding"... somewhere in proverbs 10 I think...</span>
Bestbud, TV does not do her justice! Please forgive me for focusing on her looks for a moment, but IMO she is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Not only on the outside, but the inside as well.
When young women were finally told that they were strong enough and smart enough to protect and love the child they did not expect.
No victimhood. No excuses. Feminism at it's finest.

<span>Sarah is always smiling and having a good time it's the way she is wired. She is not perfect but WOW!!... HONESTY AND TRUTHFULNESS is not one of her weakness and in reality what else is there. She sincerely respects and listens, analysis quickly and is very pragmatic. A LEADER LIKE NO OTHER.</span> </span>
<span></span>Saturday, March 07, 2009,
"I have engraved you on the palms of my hands". Those holes in Christ's hands from the nails, might be what God is talking about in Isaiah.
Maybe no pictures with actual words written in Christ's palms, but pictures with nail holes in Christ's palms, are what Christ's life was all about.
AP fact checkers wouldn't get that. They would just say, we couldn't find any pictures of God with words written in His hands! She is a liar! Liar!
defend
Thanks, really got the feel for the place and crowd.
<span>yep. prov. 18:2... "<span>A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions."</span></span>
While I was with the mob of people getting stuff signed, there were two songs playing that really captured the moment for me. I don't really know their titles though, wish I could find out. When I write my report I want to include the full experience.
I hate to disappoint you all... but I finished a doctoral degree in august... and have a "no report" policy... for the rest of my life.
so read the threads carefully, cause what you see is all you're getting from me :)
no prob... i found it out there in the twitterverse... it is not video i took.
You elitist intellectual!
I know! A Palin supporter that *gasp* can READ!!!!!!!!
I commend NBC for having the courage to stand against The Daily KOS. I am still waiting for the rest of our media to report the smear campaign being run from the basement of the Huffington Post. They throw some lie on the wall, the main stream media picks the story up, and by the time it is debunked, the media move on.
Do you have a DNP?
i went to the reception, so i was up front.
yes.
Another fair article from tonight...
http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/ohio-news/palin-urges-ohio-crowd-to-act-on-abortion-issues-583279.html
Found one of them, it's How to Save a Life by The Fray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOStF4q0zZI
kudos to NBC. the left is so desprate to respond/discredit Palin's awesome leno gig, and they failed every time.
Interesting read... from the Washington Post!
"<span>ight now the leading candidate is undoubtedly Palin, whom Reagan would probably have cheered on and surely would have had no problem voting for should she secure the GOP presidential nomination. Like Reagan, she has enormous charisma and a populist style. At her best, such as on the "Tonight" show last week, she shares his self-assurance and ease in front of a crowd. Like Reagan, she hails from outside the political establishment and does not crave the approval of the elite; rather, she seems to thrive on their disapproval."</span>

Did you go over and laugh at the protestors? If not, u should have. Take a pic or 2 and just laugh at them. It's time we start doing battle. IMHO
Amen
AHH...the Reagan comparisons are going to be so cool when she comes to Illinois. She will be speaking in a town that is 10 minutes from Reagan's alma mater. So exciting! I can't wait!:)
Yes, I was almost last in the line to get my picture with Sarah at the reception and at first they were not gonna let me. However, on my slip of paper with my name I handwrote "Sapwolf" in the lower corner. Sarah might have seen this and remembered. She signed my shirt again on the center top of the backside. I then presented my gift on behalf of C4P, a paperback copy of Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind". I told her if George Will saw her reading it, it would give him a thrill up his leg. :) I held up the shirt and she held up the book for the photo. Sarah mentioned that she appreciated my words and I believe she may have seen my interview from the Cincinnati bookstore signing. I was thrilled she mentioned that. I also told her that RAM graduated from the same grammar school as where my son attends 1st grade. She said it is a small world. Before I left for the big room for her speech, I asked Piper if she and Trig played with her yellow flag. At first her face showed she didn't remember, but then I told her it has a snake on it and says "Don't Tread on Me". Then she smiled as if she remembered and nodded yes. It is so special to see Piper the cub follow her Mommabear. It seems so natural.
I met many Republican Party bigwigs of Ohio including OH-2 Representative Jean Schmidt, and also Mike DeWine and his wife. Mike is the chair of the GOP for Ohio. There is some controversy in Ohio GOP politics because DeWine's second cousin Kevin was picked by the state leaders to run for Attorney General and they convinced the TPM guy Yost to switch his campaign from AG to State Auditor against Seth Morgan. Naturally, this did NOT go down well with the grassroots GOP who are very upset. Yost lost a debate against Seth Morgan who is a pretty sharp guy and is getting TPM support more than Yost. In the meantime, Steve Cristopher came out of nowhere and got enough signatures to get on the GOP primary ballot to run against the establishment candidate DeWine for Attorney General.
The 112 people who were at the private reception got to sit on stage with Sarah along with the choir for her main speech. The ex-football player Spielman gave a speech and talked about his wife who got a relapse of cancer during pregnancy and to protect the child in her womb, she refused dangerous treatment that would have hurt her baby. She died and her baby lived. Such a selfless act. My eyes watered quite a bit on that part.
Later Elizabeth Grissler went up to the podium at the request of Sarah and talked briefly about her being encouraged to speak for the unborn before the state legislature recently. She signed my C4P shirt too. I'll bet her Dad is so proud of her. After Sarah's speech, she signed books, shirts, tickets, brochures and I helped ferry them from many people up to her to sign when it was clear the hired help could not keep up with her. One woman had a card with two ultrasounds and Sarah got a kick out of signing that when I handed that to her. I also handed a dollar bill and told her that they needed it signed now while it still had value left. :) We even hauled a woman up on the stage to get a photo with Sarah.
It was a really fun night, but also pretty moving too.
Sarah is just so radiant and you can tell she is special when she enters any room. I thought to myself "Mitt and T-Paw don't have a chance in hell of beating her in any primary. Who are they fooling?"
We are a truly blessed country to have her out there doing her part to campaign against the growing government. She also cracked a few jokes about writing reminders on her hand. She can be so funny and is like everybody's sister.
I really hope that her supporters can be at the SRLC in New Orleans in [...]
I was just thinking about how she thrives on their disapproval! She keeps bringing up writing on her hand, writing on her hand, making fun of them for making fun of her writing on her hand.
It is like she doesn't run from the wave, she heads right into it, and gets to it before it breaks over her head and sweeps her away.
So much better than how these things were handled during the campaign.
I'm impatient for you too Whitney! When she ends her speech do not hesistate to get up close to her if you want anything signed. Be assertive and get in there!
I thought only Patrick would make it. Glad you made it too. I read that you are heading to Alaska in some weeks. I want to wish you good luck on your adventures up there and hope you get to see Sarah.
You are so right. She is a very beautiful woman, more so in person than on TV.
Sapwolf I was there when you guys hauled that woman up to get a picture with Sarah! I was the short guy at the front with a white shirt on with a red tye!
I trust her too. Her instincts and groundedness are extraordinary. Imagine her and Rubio running in 2012? Nightmares for Axelrod & Co.
I remember. I'm glad nobody fell off and got hurt.
Seth Morgan has come to two of our Liberty Group meetings, very sharp guy.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear. (Dune by Frank Herbert)
The mother of that girl in the wheelchair tried to wheel her on the stage so she could meet Sarah, but the security people wouldn't allow it. I wish they would've, Sarah would've had no problem with it.
Amen
Talk about medicine, the talk at the pre-event reception included the prospects of the Dems getting enough votes to pass the Senate version of Obamacare so Obama could sign it into law.
BUT, because of the lack of prevention of government (peoples') money being spent for abortions, Rep. Bart Stupak is not voting for is and neither is the Republican Joseph Cao. There are as many as 12 others who voted for the House version but will not vote for the Senate version because of government-financed abortion.
The pro-life movement has in effect stopped Obamacare and Sarah is a great champion along with many others to fight the Culture of Death. Sarah.....pro-life......No Obamacare. Think of that. Love of life will help to prevent the takeover of healthcare by the government and save many Americans from a gradual decline of our healthcare.
Found the other one, Cold Play- Viva La Vida http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE
Guys I don't feel tired at all, I could stay up all night if I wanted too. Maybe I will...
I'm impatient for you Whitney! After she finishes her speech, if you want anything signed, don't think at all, just get up there and be assertive!
OOps I may have mixed up the DeWines first names. :)
Them BG are some serious SCARY fictional wimmen-folk!
Her courage is what sets her apart along with her public-servant attitude. Her guts and warmth is what the country will need.
You must be a Tea Partier being so ejukatid. I read somewhere that 74% of Tea Partiers have a degree, and only 53% of the American people as a whole do. I keep telling people the education level of the TPM people is higher than average.
You know I think I might find the time to attend the SRLC. I don't care if I have classes that day, screw classes! She's gonna need all the Palinistas she can get after I hear that Ron Paul is getting as many of his people there.
I want to do everything I can to make her the next President. We need you now more than ever Sarah!
I've got a Master's so this whole notion of people on the "right" being people that are uneducated and only frequent Walmart is just a bunch of hogwash.
Maybe the lamestream media will someday have an epiphany and realize that they cannot win the battle to diminish Sarah and that each of their attempts result in them appearing hate-filled, juvenile and just plain stupid.......their ratings are already an indicator that their little schemes don't go over well with viewers.....maybe when Katie Cougar is no longer allowed to spread her crap on the airwaves.......a dim leftist LED lightbulb will go off in their even dimmer minds and the realization may dawn on them.....as our ratings continue to tank......this could happen to me..........couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.
After reading your comments I cannot wait for the Tyler Event..
I'M GONNA PUKE!
That Katty Griffen skank had a book-signing at Borders bookstore in Anchorage with "I-take-off-my-LEVIs-for-money" leering at her side today.....
YUCK
Maybe he should get a job and support his child.
<span>O/T- Another one bites the dust..... The odious BREEPALIN blog has been not just closed, but DELETED!
The deranged obsessive slime at Palingates are all in a tizzy and conflicted about it, conspirasy theories and hand-wringing abound..... toooooooo funny...........
I think I'll have a shot of Jack in celebration!</span>
Much as been made lately why Sarah Palin has become a CELEBRITY but I think it is interesting to delve into how anyone becomes a CELEBRITY in his/her field of endeavor. With this in mind here are the ten basic steps one has to foster or circumstances one has to benefit from to become a full-fledged CELEBRITY:
1) One has to be the focus of a lot of media attention (TV, radio, newspapers, op-ed, magazines) or discussion about or is the constant object of discussion or line of questioning to one of his/her competitors (even if you are not a golf fan but if you watch the two days of interviews before a major tournament, the question most often asked to every competitor is the Tiger Woods question).
Some folks wonder if the media spotlight was suddenly turned away from Palin, would she still be as prominent as she is now.
2) As a follow-up on #1, a lack of competition within one's own sphere of influence to one's hold on to CELEBRITY status despite efforts by the media to foster more CELEBRITIES. Do you remember after Scott Brown was elected how the MSM tried to ascribe to him iconic status and make him the Second Coming only to see its narrative not have staying power with the public. Having no competition with any group allows one to gain or hold more prominence than one might in a different group. Imagine if Palin were a Democrat or Leftist. Would her luster shine as brightly juxtaposed with the Messiah. It might not.
3) To be a CELEBRITY one has to be attractive or beautiful. But the reverse is not true. There are millions of good-looking or attractive men and women who are not CELEBRITIES. If there is one element of personality I would cite to define a CELEBRITY is the person has name recognition or 'camera presence', in that he/she invokes an emotion, either positive or negative once the person's name or face is mentioned or shown on a broadcast medium.
4) And to follow up on #3 not only does one have the 'presence' of being a CELEBRITY, one has to embrace it, nurture it by staying in the public eye, and take advantage of one's CELEBRITY status to advance themselves in the public consciousness.
I would argue that if Sarah Palin, after her resignation, if she had declared that she was retiring from politics forever to go back to being a commercial fisherman and full-time mother, she would not have been forgotten immediately in July 2009 but by now (March 2010) would be 'yesterday's news'.
5) I alluded to this in #3, but to be seen as a CELEBRITY, one has to invoke emotions and reactions across the spectrum from extremely positive to extremely negative.
Obama and Palin certainly qualify as CELEBRITIES in this regard.
6) Many folks have cited Palin's gender as a reason she has become a CELEBRITY. I would argue instead that Geraldine Ferraro, the first female VP candidate in 1984, although the focus of attention during the campaign, never became a full-fledged CELEBRITY because she lacked certain other 'ingredients'. I am not here to bash Ferraro, but to point out that Palin brings a lot more to the table than her gender. Having said that, I honestly don't think Palin would have elicited such negative press or been almost the sole focus of GOP attention in the 2008 campaign (to the exclusion of McCain) if she were a man or if McCain had not been such a weak candidate in the first place. Sometimes the stars are aligned, as they say.
7) I know this sounds simplistic but one becomes a CELEBRITY when there is a pent-up or overt demand for his/her autograph or other CELEBRITIES want to be in your presence Call it a barometer. The day no one or only die-hard loyalists wants your autograph or other CELEBRITES decide to give you a wide berth is the day you are no longer a CELEBRITY.
8) In politics when one aspires for president or VP or is deemed by objective observers to be a frontrunner, one automatically is conferred with or elevated to CELEBRITY status. However, the mark of a real CELEBRITY vs. one being a flash in the pan is if one remains a CELEBRITY once the reason he/she became a CELEBRITY is eliminated from the picture (actors: finishing a movie; politicians: failure to win the presidential nomination; sports: knocked out of the playoffs; criminal: sent to jail).
Many folks on the Left and also on our side hoped that Palin would become a nine day wonder or a morning glory based on the 2008 campaign, but Palin has extended her CELEBRITY status way beyond the expiry date as envisioned by these folks on August 29, 2008 when she was unveiled by McCain as his running mate.
9) This is not necessarily true in all cases but CELEBRITIES usually bring intensity, passion, and enthusiasm to their field of endeavor and/or play the "game" in a unique way. Here I am referring to the "superstar" component to CELEBRITY.
Palin not only is a CELEBRITY based on her "presence" but also because of her unorthodox political strategies and her way of speaking.
But let me note that just because most CELEBRITIES are SUPERSTARS, does not mean every SUPERSTAR is a CELEBRITY. Sidney Crosby is a SUPERSTAR but certainly not a CELEBRITY in the United States because hockey is far down in the pecking order in terms of viewing audience or TV ratings.
10) And finally most CELEBRITIES possess a God-like charisma (definition-personal magnetism) that attracts more followers or in a negative way sychophants to their tent making them wealthier or more prominent. Once that charisma dissipates or is exhausted over time or with age, one's CELEBRITY or iconic status usually slowly starts to decline and along with that his/her following. It is rare that any individual remains a CELEBRITY all his/her adult life unless of course he/she dies young.
If you are recording artist and a CELEBRITY, if nobody buys your CD's or DVD's any longer, your bank balance will soon tell you that you are no longer a CELEBRITY; the same for a washed up actor/actress who no longer gets any offers to act; the same for a painter who can no longer sell his/her paintings or the author whose books no longer sell or the politician who no longer is first in line for offers to make speeches to state party gatherings or fundraisers and cannot command huge speaking fees any longer.
For anyone out there who is more of an expert on parliamentary procedure and the passage of Obamacare than I am-I read that John Boehner said that what the House of Representatives by rule would be voting on would not deviate by "one comma" from what the Senate passed if Obamacare were to go to the president for his signing right away. If this is true how can Pelosi bargain with Stupak over the "abortion provisions" of the Senate bill or with anybody on the contents of the Senate bill when it appears she has no power to do so, if she wants a "clean" result where the Senate no longer is forced to deliberate on the bill again?
you guys are forgetting, its not just the abortion issue, there is the massive taxes to Unions in the Senate bill that the House dems hate.
Its not just abortion issues, its tax issues.
Makes you wonder if anyone greeted him. He sure didn't save Callyfornia. They are going down too fast!
Patrick
Im with you on trying my best to be at the SRLC to give all I can to Sarah!
Patrick, you are so correct. The first time I ever saw/heard her I knew that she was going to fight for her country and I would not end my life under socialism. I just knew that she would not let it happen.
Her beauty inside and out is so comforting. I know you guys are memerized by it and I have to say, I am too. Sometimes it gets in the way of what she is saying. However, what she says always has substance even though you are paying attention to her beauty. After the VP debates Fox was replaying the debate and we were in bed. The TV was still on and I programed the timer to go off in an hour. Laying there with my eyes closed I was listening to her answers again. I heard them the first time, but the second listening blew me away by the substance. This woman knows what she is talking about and this woman is a leader. She is destined to be POTUS.
I am sure she can "promise" anything afterwards. The problem is she cannot be trusted. Not Democrat can be trusted. They can't even trust themselves.
euthanized?
Does anybody think NBC would have done anything to make Sarah Palin a hit on their network?
We are talking about NBC the network that kisses Obama's butt 24/7.
hey eclecticak are you anywhere close to Prince of Wales Island?
