SRLC 2010: A Call to Arms; Update: Ron Paul Supporters Purchase Block of 800 Tickets

"Listen, o' ordinary barbarians for if you listen intently you will hear the sounds of the clarion call on the winds that blow from the North..."

A month from now, something historic will occur in New Orleans, Louisiana. I speak of the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC), April 8-11, 2010, the message that Governor Palin will deliver there, and the hordes of ordinary barbarians that will turn out in support of this commonsense conservative. It is of the utmost importance that we are there to support her in full force.

You don't have to take my word for it. I'm not the only one who thinks this is important.

"Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will not be speaking at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, but she has accepted an invitation to speak at a higher profile event that could have implications for the 2012 presidential race."
- Peter Hamby of CNN

"Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's decision to attend -- and speak at -- the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans in April transforms that event into the first legitimate cattle-call of the 2012 Republican presidential sweepstakes."
- Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post

"Paul win lets 2012ers easily dismiss CPAC poll. SRLC poll in April will be a much better snapshot."
- Mike Memoli of Real Clear Politics via Twitter

Whatever her plans might be for the future, this is our time to stand up and be counted. We have said that we support her. Now let our actions follow our words. We can show that support at SRLC 2010. Let us stand together in support of Governor Palin. If there is any way possible for you to attend the SRLC, even if just for her speech, do it. Click here and register right now. It is that important.

Cash in those frequent flyer miles and fly down for the day. Organize a carpool with other Palin supporters. Plan an epic road trip that you will talk about for years. Sponsor someone else's travel expenses if you are unable to make the trip yourself. If you live in the area offer up the sofa or a spare room for a night for the cause or think of pooling money with others for a hotel room. It is time to mobilize the troops and show the nation the strength of our support.

The time is now to get organized. The time is now to take a page from the grassroots activists. The time is now to get things accomplished. Use the comments section to talk about what you can do to make SRLC 2010 a success for Governor Palin. Email us with your ideas or to let us know that you are going. Do you think that C4P should have a booth at the conference? Do you think that we should rent a room and have a C4P meet and greet? Let's discuss it.

Listen and you will hear the echo of the call to arms...

Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: "Sit down and shut up", but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and “go with the flow”.

Nah, only dead fish "go with the flow".

No. Productive, fulfilled people determine where to put their efforts, choosing to wisely utilize precious time... to BUILD UP.

And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country.
- Governor Sarah Palin (July 3, 2009)

She has stood up for you and continues to do so. In spite of the unending attacks on her and her family, she continues to fight for you and the country she loves. Stand for her. It is the least that we can do.

Update by Doug: Ron Paul supporters also think the SRLC is important. It seems they are trying to stack the deck in the straw poll by purchasing 800 tickets to distribute to those who promise to vote for Ron Paul. I guess the "Paul-bots" think that Paul's straw poll "victory" at CPAC followed by another at SRLC will propel Paul to the GOP nomination. It won't. All it will do is make these straw polls look even more ridiculous than they already are. Paul will never win more than 5% of the vote in a primary, even in his home state of Texas, and if his supporters believe otherwise they're delusional.

Oh, and more good news:

The Ronulans have bought 800 tickets to the event.

Just for the Straw Poll.

Remember, you read about Ron Paul in ......The Stormfront!

I think a summary of this thread needs to be posted to Facebook, regularly, between now and the SLRC 2010 date. Get it out there to the 1.5 mil supporters.

Sheya,  March 12, 2010 10:09 AM

Guys, this is it. If there was any event that we needed to get the grassroots out, it’s this one. We need to win this one for her. People keep on saying that they are ready to whatever they can for her if only they would know how. Well, this is how.

Governor Palin may have not decided whether she will run in 2012, what happens at SRLC may be a major factor in her decision. I suspect that Jindal will probably win the straw poll there as it’s his home turf but we need to make sure she comes in at least a strong second place.

Every pollster out there goes out of their way to produce polls that reflects badly on her, we must assume that when the Governor sees those polls it doesn’t help to encourage her to run. This straw poll is up to no one but us.

Of course the haters out there will flood the blogs saying that Palin Fans hare doing a grass root effort to get Palin to win SRLC. Good let them do it, let’s show them how our grassroot efforts work and that when we come together we can win.

People this one is up to us, go there if you can, call your friends, family and anyone you know that supports Palin. tweet, facebook, email, blog....

LET’S GET TO WORK!

Bestbud,  March 12, 2010 10:11 AM

My wife Gina and I are going to be there and would definitely be interested in working a booth for C4P or what ever could be planned as a get together... we haven't made all our arrangements yet and would be interested to know about any details others have on best places to stay close by, etc.

Big this is, and we certainly owe Gov Palin our best efforts on her behalf.

We are first time activists and never thought we would be doing anything remotely like this in expending time and effort to a politician... that is until hearts were moved by Gov Palin.

God Bless everyone and lets move mountains as they say... one stone at a time!

defendAmerica,  March 12, 2010 10:12 AM

AND... defendAmerica turns the big 3-0 on 4/10... vote for Sarah and party with ME!!!

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  March 12, 2010 10:28 AM

I wish I could go. There isn't any way that one could vote absentee in a straw poll, is there?

Awww...defend..
you are such a youngster... ;)

GAHanson,  March 12, 2010 11:15 AM

Here she comes, KC: Sarah Palin is headed this way

A group called Preserving American Liberty is bringing Sarah Palin to Kansas City on May 1.
PAL is sponsoring a one-day "activism" event that will "not only address today’s top issues, but also show ordinary citizens how they can participate in government from local town hall meetings all the way up to the national political stage."
From PAL website:
"This event will address important topics that the mainstream media usually ignores. Whether it is the growing deficit, broken promises from politicians on both sides of the aisle, health care reform that is full of backroom deals, or the inability of Washington to ’stimulate’ and ‘create/save jobs,’ this is an event you will not want to miss!"

Uffda,  March 12, 2010 11:16 AM

So is there a C4P group meeting down there or something? I might try and see if I can arrange something, but I'm kind of a lone wolf.

NICU GINA,  March 12, 2010 11:19 AM

Okay, I just signed up.  I am only 2hrs away so I will drive in early Sat. Am.  The staw poll is Sat.?

riley4palin,  March 12, 2010 11:26 AM

Defend, all downhill from there...

Just kidding, I loved my 30's and now I love my 40's.

BTW:  April birthdays rock!  :)

SusanW,  March 12, 2010 11:34 AM

I won't be able to go (my baby is due in April)...but I will definitely be a Prayer Warrior for this event.  Praying, praying, praying!!

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  March 12, 2010 11:40 AM

I wish I could be there to help you celebrate! What an awesome event to celebrate at!

I hope that you all will help me celebrate my 30th at Sarah's inauguration--8 days after my b-day! :)

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  March 12, 2010 11:40 AM

Baby? Congrats, Susan! :)

Uffda,  March 12, 2010 11:45 AM

PatrickinOH,  March 12, 2010 11:52 AM

The $119 fee doesn't bother me too much, but the hotel costs do.  I'm still thinking of whether I can go.  I'll miss a night class on Thursday if I go, I don't mind that.  My birthday is April 4th, maybe I could make this my birthday present?

AKReport,  March 12, 2010 11:57 AM

we need all the votes we can get. it takes about 1000 votes to get over 38% in this poll.

senator20526,  March 12, 2010 12:00 PM

Mine is the 18th, my wife's is the 21st, and our wedding anniversary is the 17th. Lots of celebrating that time of the year.

Sheya,  March 12, 2010 12:02 PM

Let me put it this way. SRLC is not about convincing the MSM or the Republican leadership that she’s a viable candidate. It’s about convincing Governor Palin that she is.

If you think that you have now power or that there is not much you can do, or who are you to make in impact? Remember how a simple hockey mom from Alaska decided to do something, she joint the PTA from there she went onto the city council from there to Mayor to Governor to VP candidate.

Governor Palin was as simple wife-mother as you and I, but she decided to take matters in her own hands with no help, no name recognition and no money. Yet she accomplished in two years more than many Governors accomplish in eight.
If she could do it, so can you! Together we can add “The Presidency” to her for-mentioned profile.

If you care for your country, if you want to take your country back, it is up to you to do this!

JeanA,  March 12, 2010 12:03 PM

Does the $119 cover Sarah's speech and the straw poll?

riley4palin,  March 12, 2010 12:05 PM

I have been told by those closest to me that as an April baby, "yes, we know you are a Taurus.  You have that little spitfire, independent, stubborn streak that we all have grown to love.....with lots and lots of patience.

Canary,  March 12, 2010 12:07 PM

I can't go because I have family gathering in Seattle, planned 9 months ago!!! But I will pray from now to then for a successful show of Gov Palin's supporters.  Do fellow C4Ps think about connecting with conservatives/tea partiers in LA New Orleans and promote the events to them so that they can turn out en masse? I would guess that a flight ticket, a hotel stay, misc and registration can be a burden for people outside of LA. But in LA, it's just a trip + registration fee. Just my two cents.

wisetrog,  March 12, 2010 12:10 PM

Wonderful idea. Canary, that's a genius idea. get hold of LA tea party people, presto.

CharterOakie,  March 12, 2010 12:16 PM

Whoa, I was tardy on the F5...

Sinistar, Wow!  THAT is a call to arms!  Didn't think I would attend, but you grabbed me by the short 'n cur...I mean the heart...and fired me up to try to make it work.  Lemme see what I can do.

Will try to catch up on other commenters' ideas, but I definitely like the idea of a C4P meet and greet and can't imagine it wouldn't happen spontaneously anyway.  But planned and organized is better!

Haven't been in the Crescent City in many years.  Overdue.

Aux armes, mes citoyens!

For America!

For Sarah!

For Sarah America!

LGS,  March 12, 2010 12:22 PM

I'm in Los Angeles, so I won't be able to make it. But if there is anything I can do to help the cause let me know. (I'm already cheerleading and praying!)

PatrickinOH,  March 12, 2010 12:28 PM

Ditto what wisetrog said, glad you are here Canary!

AndreaB,  March 12, 2010 12:29 PM

Patrick how high are the room prices?

Canary,  March 12, 2010 12:29 PM

CharterOakie,

You got that call to arms from La Marseillaise right? As a naturalized citizen of the US, I do think the word citizen (citoyen) is the most beautiful and meaningful word in the world.  We have the right to exercise our citizen's rights here in the US. In other countries with repressing regime, they can't do what we do here.

For those interested in La Marseillaise and how it can relate to the fight of our citizens today against the 'tyrant rulers' not 'servers' in DC, here is a piece of La Marseillaise.

Allons enfants de la patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivĆ© !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'Ć©tendard sanglant est levĆ© ! (bis)

[Let's go children of the fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny's
Bloody flag is raised!]

Tremblez, tyrans ! et vous, perfides,
L'opprobre de tous les partis,
Tremblez ! vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leur prix !
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre

[Tremble, tyrants! and you, traitors,
The disgrace of all groups,
Tremble! Your parricidal plans
Will finally pay the price!
Everyone is a soldier to fight you]

Uffda,  March 12, 2010 12:30 PM

The pricetag for the event isn't really the problem. It's that plus the hotel, plus the plane ticket...

PatrickinOH,  March 12, 2010 12:31 PM

The only hotel that has rooms available is $150 a night Andrea.

Canary,  March 12, 2010 12:32 PM

I just think about the 8,000 people in Houston who came to see Gov Palin in the Perry/Palin SuperBowl event.  Lipstick, Gamsbo, Latinchic, will you go?

Texas conservatives in Houston can drive 6 hrs to reach New Orleans too!!
I wish I did not have the planned event so that I can go, but this is family gettogether and I can't miss it.

Good luck to your mom's event Latinchic!!! We will have other opportunities to support the Gov. Maybe for those of us who can't physically go, we can talk to our friends to go.  All my Asian friends are koolaid drinkers so the prospect is dim but I will call the Perry campaign. Perry is there so his supporters will be supporting SP.

Canary,  March 12, 2010 1:10 PM

I will learn how to do an avatar. I am techno challenged and will think of similar theme.

For those of us to fell behind and had to live through communism, the words "citizen", "USA", "freedom", "Reagan" have a special meanings.  I just listen to Reagan's speech on healthcare again and have goose bumps because what he said a long time ago is still so right today. DC does not care for the people, they don't give a darn about poor people, the healthcare they want to pass is for POWER, a YOKE. Once you are under it you can't get rid of it.  I don't know how to tell this to people. My husband, as a pedorthist, a foot specialist, serves a large group of elderly people with feet diseases (largely due to diabetes). Majority of them are in the black community, very nice people, God fearing good people. But they don't have a clue that their care will be cut and they won't have better care if the HC bill is passed. Most MDs already hesitate to take Medicare patients. He told me to share with C4P readers that when he breaks the news to most of his patients. they did not know. They all said "the repubs don't want to help poor people. the HC bill will. "They' in DC will find the money some how".!!!!

PatrickinOH,  March 12, 2010 1:37 PM

Later Andrea!

IheartSarah,  March 12, 2010 1:53 PM

I wish I could go.  Louisiana is my home state, even though I am not there anymore.  I am so excited that she will be in New Orleans for this event, but I am sad that I can't go.  I keep telling my husband that we need to go to visit family in Baton Rouge and then maybe make a trip, but he is not falling for it.  :(

I also just wanted to say that I have been thinking about her documentary and her special Fox show and I personally think this is brilliant.  I think she knows that people have a distorted view of her (thanks to the LSM) and she needs to prop herself up.  People have to like her first in order to vote for her.  I know I am not going to vote for someone if I don't like them to begin with.  Most people do not keep up with political things the way we do so she has to give those people another way to see her that is not political.  What better way then her television specials.  I think this is just the beginning of her reaching out to the Americans who vote solely on personality, not on issues.  (This is how Obama won, his personality)

What's the surprise, Whit?

Palin makes a triumphant visit to Canada, generates tons of headlines, reveals the media for the lying tools they are and ...

The WH tool decides to get in on the Canada action. Seems like SOP to me for this crowd.

And they want us to believe Sarah Palin never comes up in conversation... heh heh heh

Rent-free, baby!

Random aside, R4P, did you go to the University of Wisconsin?

No, I didn't attend UW, but managed to stimulate their economy quite often in the bars on State Street in my college years.

Uffda,  March 12, 2010 3:11 PM

This comment alone is worthy of a look:

Oh, Ilana, haven’t you learned by now?  The moment you said something nice about Sarah Palin is the moment you became a target.

I am one of those Democrats who support Sarah Palin because she appears to be the only leader in America who has consistantly stood up to schemes and rackets benefitting organized crime in the federal government, both sides of the aisle.

Also, since I’m pro-choice, I can live with her Constitutionalist view that abortion should not be made illegal, but should be an issue decided by individual states.  When she appointed a former board member of Planned Parenthood to the AK Supreme Court over a pro-life candidate (because she was most qualified) I saw that it was true, she governs under the rule of law regardless of what her personal beliefs might be.

Same on the gay marriage front, she supports a state by state decision, thus gay marriage at least exists, as opposed to the President’s preference it be decided on a federal basis and ban it altogether from the country.

Those were my two sticking points, otherwise she shared Hillary’s stance on Israel, on increased exploration, drilling, refining and distribution of domestic fossil fuels in tandem with alternative energy, AND, unlike currently, underwrite the closed manufacturing plants aross the country to produce oil and natural gas equipment (made in China) with a gradient to increasing alterntive energy equipment (instead of buying it from Germany, Spain, China, etc.)

I am glad she noticed that the same people who brought us Enron electricity commodities have designed the carbon credit commodity to trade on the CHICAGO exchange.  I’m glad she has always recognized Global Warming and has pointed out the multiple flaws of the science the commodities people that directly link it to man, as opposed to reviewing the hard data of how climate change occurs naturally, and continue to be environmentalists but not a party to creating yet another bogus derrivitave security for the bad guys to reap billions before collapsing another string of financial houses and banks.

I think there is very good reason why Hillary Clinton has never had a bad word to say about Sarah Palin and why Rahm, Axelrod, Schumer, Dodd, Frank, Pelosi and Reid, et al, having nothing but—  But of course, now we know the afforemention colluded to knock Hillary out, including encouraging MI and FLA (Clinton strongholds) to disqualify themselves, Schumer reporting everything in her campaign to Rahm, the voter fraud, et all.

So while I’m waiting for the DNC to become legit again (please tell President until he fires Emanuel (and his brother Dr. Death, the healthcare czar) and Axelrod it is impossible for us to have any faith in his administration as anything other than an outpost for Chicago organized crime) I am listening to Sarah Palin closely to identify the compromised parts of Washington.

Word has it in Washington that Hillary is running in 2012 with Bayh as VP, which would mean toppling the thoroughly compromised hierarchy of the DNC.  I’d vote for that ticket in a New York minute.

The President’s only hope of winning us back is firing Emanuel and Axelrod and putting reputable people there.

I had hoped Hillary would have been the crimebuster but if Sarah is now all the country has, then more power to her.  I’m donating heavily to SarahPAC because I trust her choice in some of these races in November.  (I was glad the Democratic Congressional candidate in New York won, because it meant Palin and Forbes had knocked out the Pizza Parlor Mafiosa Princess from the GOP).  There are far too many of them.

Anyway, keep up the great work.  I think people of all faiths would enjoy your [...]

I have to challenge that one.  So far as I can tell, Judge Christen was never on the board of Planned Parenthood, but she did do work for a group that promoted adoption at a time when Planned Parenthood had no presence in AK.  That organization was later taken over by Planned Parenthood.  And there was no Pro-Life candidate.  The Bar Association gave her two hard-leftists and a moderate to choose from, and she chose the moderate.  Also, an Alaska resident who knows Christen personally wrote a letter at the time rebutting Jim Minnery's claim that Christen was some sort Pro Choice activist.  I'll try and find it.

Those of us who are unable to attend could DONATE FUNDS to help WELL-KNOWN, trusted supporters of Sarah who live nearby attend, see?  (Obviously I'm wary of Ron Paulites.)

As noted above, nearby folks wouldn't have airfare or hotel costs.

If we help them go, they can vote in the straw poll on our behalf: it's WIN WIN!

techno,  March 12, 2010 3:56 PM

For those of you who wonder why Huckabee is skipping the SRLC, AKReport currently has Huck leading in Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama.

If Huck was serious about running, why would he skip a major GOP event deep in the heart of his stronghold if he were not intending on running. Imho, this would be equivalent for Sarah Palin having skipped the Tea party convention or Romney skipping CPAC.

And the excuse Huck gave was he had a TV show to get ready for and do. Ask your with all honesty, if Huck were seriously thinking about running for POTUS in 2012, what VALID reason, except for a family emergency or health problem, could Huck have to skip the SRLC?

Honestly, I can't think of one valid reason, especially now have learned Huck is in the lead in 6 Southern states, that the SRLC is held only every 4 years and is considered a launching pad for GOP presidential aspirations in the next 2+ years.

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  March 12, 2010 3:57 PM

That's what makes me literally sick to my stomach.

Narciso, you're right. Sarah may have been referring to the rationing of health care by various governmental agencies in her death panels Facebook post, but it turns out the it turns out the true death panel also includes the Democratic caucus led by Nancy Pelosi.

Mountain Mama,  March 12, 2010 4:00 PM

But Sarah Palin does NOT NEED to rely solely on her winning personality, thank God!

She DOES have brains and savvy----and she responds to situations with NORMALCY!  Americans CRAVE normalcy!  We want leaders we can TRUST to be real people, not career politicians who are USERS.

Re. BO:  the voters were tired of this longest US war, and they wanted to get behind a Person of Color as President.  They had NO idea that he was nearly communist, and would put in power as his advisors SO many people who are absolutely communist, and proud of it, sickeningly though that is....

With all due respect, Sarah won't be "propping herself up," but instead will be doing what you wrote:  simply letting the public see The Actual PERSON of Sarah----who is someone that Americans can absolutely TRUST.

K?

There will be a revolt that they have never seen before.

It is NOT MY RESPONSIBLITY TO PAY FOR WOMEN WHO WANT TO HAVE ABORTIONS AFTER HAVING SEX.

Keep your pants on.  Say No Thank You.  Use protection.  Be secure in yourself that you have more to offer someone than opening your legs.  Act like a Lady.  Grow Up.  Surround yourself with people who make you feel good instead of bad.  Join a church.  Say a prayer.  Find God.  Find other interests.  Realize that you and you alone can make yourself happy.  It will never come from another human being.  Partners are here to compliment us, not complete us.

Not every woman in this country is Pro Choice.  This has nothing to do with the money.  It has everything to do with enabling behavior.  This makes me sick.

riley4palin,  March 12, 2010 4:15 PM

Right:

No, I will not be there.

Have a great time though!

chicago's conservative,  March 12, 2010 4:17 PM

You know there was also the argument decades ago (and still today) that we need abortions b/c the planet was becoming too populated and resources were soon to be depleted. Put aside the fact that life in and of itself is sacred, what they forget is that each person has a perspective and is capable of contributing to the world in a variety of ways. A human mind is always behind production and resource development.  If the world met a stage of stagnation or regression, I would argue that we need more human beings, not less.

Sound familiar?

lonestar,  March 12, 2010 4:39 PM

Act like a Lady? Grow Up?
I see nothing in your post about MEN!  What about asking males to act like Men?
It seems to me that the majority of men who call themselves pro-choice, are actually selfish and want the easy way out.  Abortions are easier on the men than 18 years of responsibility.

If pro-life people are serious, they need to change the debate.  Instead of referring to people as pro-choice, I say call them Pro-Abortion.  If they argue and use the tired line that they prefer birth control and don't really want abortions, but that it is not their decision to tell women what to do with their own bodies, I Say, CALL THEM OUT! If this is their position, then THEY ARE PRO-Abortion and should be called Pro-Abortion.
No more pro-life and pro-choice people, only pro-life and pro-abortion.  Your either one or the other.

Mountain Mama,  March 12, 2010 4:39 PM

My guesses are these:

1. Given that sometimes a high profile LOWERS polls, Huckabee wants to lay low and keep his Southern polls high----and he's hoping to build up other polls from there---OR

2. Huckabee might be hoping to become ANYONE'S VP candidate.  Thus, he would NOT want to shine against any of them.

lonestar,  March 12, 2010 4:40 PM

Thomas Malthus?

Whitney the Pipsqueak,  March 12, 2010 4:44 PM

Lonestar,
Stupak's quote referred to how many pro-abortion Democrats justify covering abortion partial because they see it as a woman's "right to choose", especially those of limited means. That's why Riley framed her comment that way.

I don't think Riley was giving men a pass by any means! She was simply framing her comment based upon that aspect of the debate.

lonestar,  March 12, 2010 4:45 PM

My son plays this on the piano and clarinet all the time.  It's my husband's favorite.

techno,  March 12, 2010 4:48 PM

On the contrary Mountain mama, if you are in the lead you want to build on that momentum to lengthen the lead if you are a serious contender, especially in South Carolina. Laying low is not what any contender would do especially regards to building momentum for the 2011 primary season. This is not the time to be gearing down, but to be gearing up your operation.

If Palin's schedule did not have many more appearances in April than March I would start to wonder about her as well. Simply Huck is not apparently doing now what serious presidential contenders need to be doing. I honestly think he is holding out hope that Palin will not run, but when he heard last month that she was receiving daily briefings from Washington insiders, he knew immediately what direction she was headed.

lonestar,  March 12, 2010 4:49 PM

Perhaps this conference has also become too libertarian for him!

lonestar,  March 12, 2010 4:55 PM

Thanks for the clarification.
I just get tired of all the blame being put on the female.
As long as society puts no shame certain behaviors, it will continue.
Shame is only used on conservative women and their teenaged children.
E television and MTV glorify unmarried pregnancy. Don't they even have a show promoting pregnant teenagers?

riley4palin,  March 12, 2010 5:05 PM

Lonestar:

You mean to tell me that I don't call out immature and irresponsible men enough around here?  I am losing my touch.  I have got to work on that.

In all seriousness, the Democratic party has always framed their debate on a "womens right to choose" because those are the voters they want and need to keep in their corner.  My point was to call the Dems out for what they try and manipulate every time they bring up the abortion issue.  They want people who do not believe in abortion to pay for their behavior.  That was my point.  It is not our responsibility to fund something that half the country doesn't believe in.

Don't even let me get started on men and their selfishness about not wanting to use condoms because it "just doesn't feel as good."  Please.   See what you just started?!  I'm trying to be nice today.  LOL  :)

IheartSarah,  March 12, 2010 5:08 PM

What I meant by "prop herself up" is that no one else will be doing this for her, the media for example.  She will have to be in charge of her message because we have already seen what the LSM will do to her.

section9,  March 12, 2010 5:24 PM

Huckabee knows that once Palin declares and gets going, she'll conquer the South. He knows this in his bones.

Sarah's problem is Florida, because it's Jeb Country. The ONLY problem Sarah has is if Mittens is a stalking horse for the Bush Family.

My take is this: the Bushes, in a major miscalculation, are gambling that Obama will recover as Clinton did in 1996 and win the Presidency in 2012. Jeb will lead The Restoration in 2016, and freeze out the Reagan forces and the hated Cheneyites.

Palin is gambling that Obama will tread water throughout his Administration, and remain vulnerable among independents, conservative Democrats, and of course, Republicans. Her job is to offer a compelling counternarrative and a campaign that works to restore hope to a battered nation.

I think Palin is right. I think Jeb is wrong. Time will tell the tale.

CharterOakie,  March 12, 2010 5:25 PM

Too familiar.

techno,  March 12, 2010 5:42 PM

This is similar to a theory that I set out a couple of days ago that some fifth columnists would vote for Romney to get him the nomination in 2012 and then run away from him in the general election to pave the way for Jeb in 2016.

I think like you section 9, that I think many of the white voters who have deserted Obama are not coming back. I noticed lately that in favorables in some polls Obama is below 10% among Republicans.

But again can we keep him below 51% in job approval. I honestly think we can. Obama has sent the economy into the tank and I think he is just flying by the seat of his pants now and relying on the Cloward-Piven strategy to bring him home and proclaim himself Emperor of America.

As much as I was no fan of GW...I always felt he was sincere kinda' fellow...not my cup of tea, but not a gigantic phoney.

Jeb, on the other hand, has always struck me as just another politician...a fat-head and an elitist...just the type of GOP Good Ol' Boy that made me flee from the Party after the Reagan Years.

If the GOP wants to put Jeb forward...they can forget about my vote...

I think the idea of a booth at the event is a good one but I think you need to notify the event planners ASAP to get the space.

Canary,  March 12, 2010 7:35 PM

Yes Lonestar, in communist Vietnam, govt used Malthus to explain and support abortion. From a primarily buddhist country with 10% fervent catholic population, under 35 years of communism, Vietnam has transformed into an abortion heaven, with % highest in southeast asia. Med students are required to practice abortion and will NOT pass the exam if not taking that class. Catholics who refuse to involve with abortion will lose their jobs, just as Martha Coakley of MA has advocated.  In VN, there are some extreme case when a 17 years old girl in HS went to abortion 4 times. It was all over the news on internet. I read and I could not believe my eyes.

Canary, Republicans give more money, time, and blood than Democrats or liberals.

Tell them to read Arthur Brooke's "Who Really Cares?"

For 3 1/2 years I  did St. Vincent DePaul charity work in Huntsville, AL.

Conservatives donate THEIR OWN time, money, and blood.  They are more charitable by about 30% and are even more charitable than liberals for non-religious charities.

Liberals talk charity but they don't do charity.  Huge hypocrites.

EXACTLY.  The guy she did not pick was a committed leftist and pro-choicer.  Sarah would have 100% picked an interpretationist for the court if she was legally able.  The meme that he was pro-life is a joke.  Even those on TeamSarah who initially were disgusted with the pick came back to supporting Sarah once they understood the Missouri law they have up in AK to choose the judges.

Anonymous,  March 12, 2010 9:02 PM

I agree.  That wouldn't stop Sarah.  Hillary is left of center while the country is right of center.  Hillary will use the power of the federal government to grow it bigger and she will use it to support abortion like Obama.  There are some issues she is not quite as liberal as the marxist Obama, but people need to realize our problem is mainly a growing federal government.

Hillary has NO courge to actually take on 'leviathan', but Sarah does.  Sarah will do what needs to be done even if the entire country wails like crybabies that they are not getting that inflation-adjusted handout for nothing.

Anonymous,  March 12, 2010 9:05 PM

It is not only murder of an innocent child for convenience.  They are trying to subsidize this terrible sin rather than convincing women not to lose hope and that they can have their child or put the baby up for adoption.  Sarah gives women hope, not despair like the rest of the women in the elite.

Hey C4P'ers, I have a few ideas for supporting Sarah at SRLC.  Here is some stuff from brainstorming:
1) Large banner with two poles for the parking lot, etc.  with Sarah's picture and the word "Leadership", or 2) Double-sided poster with a picture of Sarah as a knight with a spear aimed down at a dragon with the word "Progressives" on it and "Liberty" on a flag flying on the spear.  The other side might be "GOP" on the lower left with a bridge in the bottom middle with "TPM" on the right and Sarah's picture above it to stress how Sarah is the bridge uniting the power of the GOP and the TPM, or 3) A big big poster with a photo of Reagan and Sarah with an Eagle with the message "Birds of a Feather", or 4) Multiple poster flipchart of Sarah is various photos with a different key word:  "Sarah is Leadership", "Sarah is Courage", "Sarah is Integrity", "Sarah is Victory", "Sarah is the Anti-Obama". 5) Also, I want to have a boombox with cool tunes like AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" or the main theme from "The Last of the Mohicans",  Maybe even a bullhorn.
Post any ideas you have.

You're right to be skeptical about Huckabee's niceness.  Reports from the campaign were that he could be vicious----even back in Arkansas.  I personally received very negative "handling" from his staff (which isn't directly his fault, I realize----but then, he should not have allowed it, either), when I questioned sincerely how he mishandled (imho) the "gift" of furniture to ...  well, first it was to the Huckabees, and then when that got them in trouble it was to "the Governor's Mansion," and then years later, when the Huckabees left the mansion, they took said furniture WITH them, saying it was a gift to them, and in court the state decided that was okay----but I still wonder, did they pay taxes on it ever (we're talking $70,000+ in furniture, or was it more?), and if so, was it on the stuff years later, when it would have a lower market value?----instead of initially, when new (although two pieces at least were antiques).

Stay skeptical about his "niceness," is my point.

All in due course, Sapwolf.  Watching and waiting.  Still want to do what I can to send the message to the GOP bosses that it's Sarah or bust.  And I applaud TPM members for their principled stand <span>outside</span> of the party, at least for now.

Both parties' establishments are corrupt imo and need to be humbled.

All great ideas, Sapwolf.  Love those images for the banners.

Don't forget the "Rudy" theme music and Shania's "Not Just a Pretty Face" (or whatever the title is).  Maybe hassles involved in getting permission for those, dunno.

Invite Lee Greenwood to sing "God Bless the USA."
