This Harry Reid Tool Isn't Fooling Anybody/Orlando Event this Friday/More on the September Montana Event/Open Thread
-Channel 13 News in Las Vegas reports that Scott Ashjian, the man who plans on running as a third-party candidate in the Nevada Senate race, "says he was inspired by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin to step in this race." Ashjian is fooling absolutely nobody as it's pretty clear that he's nothing more than a Harry Reid tool whose agenda is to siphon off votes from whoever is the Republican Senate nominee. Palin has already said "she'll 'do whatever I can to help' the Republican nominee, whoever he or she is, against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada." If Ashjian was actually as passionate about "lower taxes and downsiz[ing] government" as he claims, he'd run for the Republican nomination rather than pursue this transparent attempt to help Senator Reid while claiming some type of connection to Governor Palin that doesn't exist.
-As a reminder, Governor Palin is scheduled to speak this Friday at the Orange County Republican Executive Committee Lincoln Day Dinner.
-The Missoulian will have additional information available on the fundraiser she is scheduled to speak at on September 12th in Montana later today. Check back at this link when the story is updated.
-Andrew Breitbart will join Palin at the "Showdown in Searchlight" rally in Harry Reid's hometown on March 27th.
-Rasmussen finds Republican Bill Brady ahead of Governor Pat Quinn by ten points in the Illinois governor's race.
I am very uninterested in the interview that was just completed between former Congressman Massa and Glenn Beck. I must admit that I am interested into why my junior Senator hasn't formally denied this allegation. What else is going on today?

my only guess at that donation was that she must have felt like she "owed" him something politically for some unknown thing that happened during the campaign and wanted to "pay him back" while it didn't really matter and get it over with.

From what I have seen she is very good. Lowden and Tarkanian have almost the exact same policy positions and both poll very well against Reid. So I think that is a win win for us.

Hey everyone! I'm beyond tired right now. At yesterday's internship, I had to move around 40 boxes of President Reagan's bust & those things are heavy when you're trying to stack them 3 tiers high. Legs & arms are beyond hurt. However, since I'm a Republican/Conservative, I see it as a glass is half full instead of glass is half empty kinda thing.
Onto other news: IF this health bill passes, why are the Democrats trying to say that once you promote it, next election cycle is still going to be ok? Don't they realize that there are other things that MOST Americans are thinking about....such as cap & trade and jobs? I can't wait for November!!!

Graham gave her pep talk before the debate when she had been left on her own to fend for herself. I'm sure at that time it was very reassuring to her. You should recall that at that time she didn't have a lot of internal support.

Some don't like the idea of her "paying back" favors from the campaign, but I think it's good to get it out of the way now. Pay back McCain and all the rest before 2012 and be done with it.
Depending on whether or not she actually runs, she may also be thinking of what Congress would look like if she were POTUS. She may have to work with some of these people. Sarah's never been shy to take on her own party, but it might be better in the long run to be able to present a united front going into battle.
If she pays back the debts now, it frees her up for the future.

Those people who accuse Palin of "quitting", why don't they go up to Alaska and personally interview randomly 1000 residents there and find out what they think of Palin resigning, whether they were ill-treated by her resignation, if Parnell is not doing the job, and what they think of Alaska not blowing tax-payer dollars anymore on looking into frivolous lawsuits and generally feel about the national spotlight not being on Alaska as much any more. Despite the the headline and opening two paragraphs in the AP article describing the results of the AP-GfK Poll, it is clear that even a poll conducted by a media organization which is favorable to the Democrats and which is based on a sample skewed in favor of the Democrats that:
- The Republicans won the discussion at the Health Care Summit; and
- Americans by overwhelming numbers do not want what Obama and the Democrats are trying to sell.
Prediction: If Obama and the Democrats do proceed on their own to pass Obamacare, providing Republicans play their cards properly (listen again to Newt Gingrich's speech of Nov 21, 2009), the Democratic party will ultimately be reduced to a liberal rump.
Does that mean I want the Democrats to proceed unilaterally? No. But, if they do, the political environment will get very ugly indeed and we will witness a political sea change in America.
