Post "2 Million on Facebook" Open Thread

Thanks to everyone who donated to SarahPAC or who spread the word for the "2 Million on Facebook" money bomb. You can keep the momentum going here. Hopefully she'll hit 3 million soon so we can do this all again. Here's the news for the day:

-Regarding her going to campaign for Karen Handel, Mark Halperin writes "Palin's instincts remain pretty darn good. This is another case where if her candidate wins, she will be able to add a queen-maker notch to her belt. If Handel loses, given her long-standing underdog status, no one will blame Palin much."

-The real Republican runoff: Sarah Palin vs. the Georgia General Assembly

-Newt Gingrich expects her to run.

-According to Politico, Mitt Romney is apparently privately telling Lindsey Graham to push for amnesty.

-Chuck Todd makes a great point about why Marco Rubio is losing against Charlie Crist.

-Clint Didier continues to poll just as well as Dino Rossi against Patty Murray and has stronger personal numbers than Dino.

-Erick Erickson gets it right about Sharron Angle by noting that "some [Republicans] would actually like to see Harry Reid win so they can rub it in." But Angle remains in very good shape to win this election by a decent margin as both Harry Reid and Barack Obama remain very unpopular in Nevada.

Get in touch with Karen Allen if you want to help Karen Handel win her run-off election. What's going on today? Remember that she's on Fox News Sunday this Sunday to "discuss the 2010 midterms, the Obama Administration, and her own political future."

Ya know why Obama loves that Volt?
It's glorified golf cart!

That little putt-putt seems just his style, too.
It's a clown car.

Bet ya those styrofoam Greek columns don't fit in that thing.
Or The One's honking head.

As a follow-up on the thread about Romney, Graham and illegal immigration here essentially is Mitt's strategy for 2012:

1) Surrender EVANGELICAL VOTERS; do not waste resources trying to schmooze them. Mitt learned his lesson in 2008. Thus Mitt will not be as active in Iowa as he was in 2008, leaving the field to Palin, Huckabee and others.

2) Co-opt former McCain supporters and voters from the 2008 campaign by adopting similar positions as the Maverick, and of course the dream goal is to get the endorsement from McCain, but with Palin running, he may stay neutral.

3) Run a blue state strategy of winning big in the Northeast, west coast and industrial north and Florida.

4) And of course if Romney hasn't done this already, get the entire party establishment behind his candidacy since Jeb is not running in 2012.

5) Promote "the next in line" or "inevitability" argument

6) Hammer Palin hard on the "quitting meme" and that she is unelectable.

I mailed my ballot today.  I thought long and hard about voting for Didier but just couldn't bring myself to do so.  His siding with the FAR right CFL and even more his proud acceptance of the VERY anti-millitary Ron Paul's endorsement stopped me.  I have a son who has spent 1 year on Guam, 3 years in Belgium, and has been to 'the desert' 6 times - so I couldn't bring myself to vote for someone who may not support his efforts.

techno,  July 30, 2010 5:34 PM

Neo:

Nobody can call you a Palin cultist.

CruelaDev,  July 30, 2010 5:37 PM

Wow..Neo...good for you!  I like your reseach!...America needs more of that!

techno,  July 30, 2010 5:41 PM

What is bizarre that Rasmussen produces polls that show a matchup between Murray and each GOP contender must does not poll for the actual primary result. Is it possible that Didier is closer to Rossi than he wants anybody to know?

Firelight,  July 30, 2010 5:45 PM

Good for you.  You can vote for anyone you want.  I do not believe, however, that Sarah would ever endorse someone like Didier if she thought he wouldn't be strong on military.  She seems to really do her homework on her endorsements.

I am not a Ron Paul fan at all but he isn't all bad.  He does have some very conservative views on issues that I would agree with him on.  I do NOT agree with his foreign policy.  I wouldn't expect a candidate to shun any endorsement.  I think that would be shooting themselves in the foot.

I won't hold it against Sarah if she has a broad range of endorsements in her run for POTUS.  I am sure I won't agree with each endorsor but very thankful for their support of her.

Let's have a link to pre-order America By Heart on the C4P front page - if only for the cover with "gray" eyes!

Emily is Jane Awesome,  July 30, 2010 5:48 PM

Neo, good for you!! We're not mindless Palinbots--we actually have a brain thank you very much!!

terri,  July 30, 2010 5:51 PM

^^^"co-opt former McCain supporters"...are there any left???

techno,  July 30, 2010 5:52 PM

Mitt Romney thread now up at HA.

techno,  July 30, 2010 5:56 PM

terri:

Yep, there are. They just aren't as vocal as the conservatives at HA and FR. Most of them are social moderates and strong national defense conservatives and very traditional in personal philosophy. They're not tea party types, tend to be more secular-oriented, and many aren't even party activists and certainly not rabble-rousers but just salt of the earth types who donate to campaigns and vote in primaries and elections.

Remember Mccain did get 45.7% of the vote in the '08 election and that was not all Palin's doing even though sometimes at C4P we make it out to be.

techno,  July 30, 2010 5:58 PM

You could make that argument about anybody Palin supported, that a Ron Paul endorsement of that individual makes him/her an anathema. Hey Sarah Palin believes in God but she is NOT God to influence which politician endorses certain candidates.

Lipstick,  July 30, 2010 6:03 PM

Yeah, funny AP didn't use a pic of Romney winking on the front page...I HAD to make a comment about it.

juju,  July 30, 2010 6:03 PM

I would like to see more comments about  Mitts wanting amnesty from the Republicans before the election. Why does he have to sneak around about it...just go on TV and express how he is feeling...he is a real sneak.  It is a thread on HA now and the few comments are very revealing.  I would like to see Sarah do Facebook report on this too.   Looks like a good way to give Mitts the back of her hand  by
just expressing herself on the AZ ruling, etc.
and the other states that are wanting to adopt their own laws without even mentioning his name.  Of course she maybe doing this on Sunday on Wallace.

jimr3,  July 30, 2010 6:03 PM

AP at Hot Air has a post up on Romney nudging Graham on striking a immigration deal, needless to say, Romney is getting hammered in the comments, as well as he should.

jimr3,  July 30, 2010 6:05 PM

Romney is getting hammered in the comments at HA, as well as he should.  Romney had better hope that  Mark Levin doesn't catch wind of this.

Lipstick,  July 30, 2010 6:10 PM

JeanA:

Are you on here?

I wanted to tell you a post a made on another thread was not regarding your links. I had it regarding a post that disappeared, it was one to AK Dispatch. I did not want you to think I was being rude to you. Sorry about that!  :)

Carrie,  July 30, 2010 6:13 PM

Hey Neo I mailed mine too.  Right now my chief goal is move Murray out.  To accomplish this we need both Didier and Rossi to win.  As I see it if we keep that goal and make it, the rest can be discussed later.  Hi five for both of us.  I also mailed my college daughters ballot to her at the same time, she's good at getting them completed and my middle daughter will be voting for her first time.  I think I am the only person who gets choked up by ballots.

techno,  July 30, 2010 6:16 PM

juju, if it was up to me, I would hang him out to dry with this info, but unfortunately the MSM will run to Mitt's rescue to bury this tidbit.

Lipstick,  July 30, 2010 6:18 PM

Mitt is all about getting elected. I don't like being used after I give my vote. I know if (PLEASE!!!) Palin runs and wins I will not agree with everything she does, but she will do what she thinks is best for the country, not her politcal career.

AP has the gaul to say in the comments his posting this will not win him any credit for not being a Mitt man...PLEASE, all his other posts prove otherwise. I wonder if AP is Laura Ingrahm's brother??? Ot it might just BE LI.

Lipstick,  July 30, 2010 6:19 PM

Then it needs to go viral. Needs to get to Rush, Levin and Bruce.

Bruce will go insane when she hears this.

Neo,  July 30, 2010 6:20 PM

I am, and have been for 40 years, a photographer.  I am an expert Adobe LightRoom and Photoshop user.  I examined the new book cover photo on a monitor that is calibrated weekly with an adjusted ICC profile.  I examined it at +3200%.  The entire photo has had color adjusments - ALL 'finals' from a photo shoot get multipule adjustments.  There is ZERO evidence of 'color adjusments' to her eyes.

Granted - I only have the photo from an email.  I would like to examine the camera RAW file but I'm sure SP, SC and Harper keep that under close security.

Neo,  July 30, 2010 6:29 PM

Emily is Jane Aewsome - I am the largest SP fan on the planet!  However - SP and I would both be fools if we agreed more than about 80%.  I disagree with her supporting Juan McCain but I fully understand her need to do so.  I disagree with her support of Clint Didier but have a bit more than average understanding why she does so.

Ymchoo,  July 30, 2010 6:58 PM

- "Co-opt former McCain supporters and voters from the 2008 campaign "

A lot of John McCain fans support him becos of his heroic war story. What kind of great personal story does Romney have to win them over and hold them over?

juju,  July 30, 2010 7:04 PM

You got that right.  But, isn't it typical Mitts???

Emily is Jane Awesome,  July 30, 2010 7:05 PM

Never was trying to knock you--just tired of liberals saying we supporters follow her blindly. And we don't.

Firelight,  July 30, 2010 7:09 PM

Mitt wants to get elected but giving illegals the right to vote will ensure he doesn't.  He is out of touch with almost every American below the top 3% in America.  He would be polar opposites with what the illegals want.  They would not give him the credit.

juju,  July 30, 2010 7:13 PM

Techno:  You can post at HA, right?  Have you read the comment by "Red Sox Nation" at 6:48.
She/he is defending Mitts...she knows his staff did lots of research and this is the way to go or he wouldn't have done this.  You should go and respond to her comments.

Sure, lets do a poll and forget about everything else...and then I can make a decision.  Mitts way of governing.

Yankee4SP,  July 30, 2010 7:23 PM

Ron Paul is anti war, anti Israel,  many of his bunch are 9/11 Truthers
I research his sites, youtubes and speak to his lemmings.
They are right out of the Code Pinko play book not to mention
they snark and trash Sarah.

JeanA,  July 30, 2010 7:42 PM

Lipstick,

I didn't take it that way.  Just finish sweeping my computer for viruses.

Sapwolf,  July 30, 2010 7:45 PM

Guess who endorsed Rossi?  Jim DeMint

Sapwolf,  July 30, 2010 7:46 PM

We need a column slamming Mitt on his cave-in to amnesty.  C4P contributors interested?

Jla4Sarah,  July 30, 2010 7:56 PM

I met Clint Didier at the Sarah book signing in Richland, Washington. He is a good guy and very sincere. However, I also voted for Dino Rossi. I have heard Clint interviewed on local conservative talk radio in the Seattle area and I do not think he has the experience to win in Washington.

CruelaDev,  July 30, 2010 8:42 PM

Mitten's caved?....Huh?

runsarahrun,  July 30, 2010 9:35 PM

Christy and I (Right Wingnut) both wrote about it at Rightosphere.  So many Rombots complained, Admin deleted the title and content of the posts.  All that's left is a link to the Politico article, along with the title.

Allie,  July 30, 2010 9:51 PM

Look, the thing about this illegal amnesty should be addressed.  Most Hispanics that came to this country legally are not really on board with the illegal alien fiasco.  As a Hispanic who came here legally (I even had my visa waived, I guess the US really wanted me), I am appalled about the way all of this is going.  I want to know why the mainstream media has not reported on the fact that the Juarez Cartel has placed a $1,000,000 on the head of the Sheriff Carpaio (sp)?  Are we now for some reason beholden to the criminal elements of Mexico that we decide not to mention blatant murder for hire of not only a US citizen but someone that is in the law enforcement field?  Has anyone really thought about the bounty on this man's head?  Could it be that the Juarez cartel has people in this country and they want to make sure that drugs and whatever else they might want to bring into OUR country is easier when the borders are a "free for all"?

Yes, as a Hispanic I tend to feel sorry for the people that came to this country to make a better life.  I have met a few that really belong here just like I have met a few that think that cheating and stealing is a better way to make a living.  For example, I ws having my house renovated and my architect brought two people to work on the house, I had hired a very nice and conscientious man before and I think that he was an illegal (I did not ask for his papers).  I made this man the project manager because I was afraid of the two men that my architect had brought.  They were lazy and they took two days to paint a room.  Their attitude was scary so I let my project manager deal with them.  Before someone says that I am Racist, the man that worked on my ceiling was black and when I found out that he was going to a gas station to go to the bathroom, I very vehemently told him that we had plenty of bathrooms at our house so he should not feel that he had to go somewhere else.

Furthermore, anyone that tells me that people are racists about Hispanics, I do point out that Hispanic is not a race but an ethnic goup.  I think that for the last 20 years I have stated that fact in govt. questionnaires that now they use it as an ethnic group.

Being the open thread, is this where everyone is tonight because I have a question.  Read last night a few others hadn't gotten an e-mail confirmation for their SarahPAC donation.  Neither have I.  So just how many of us are still waiting for their confirmation?

sarah palin rocks,  July 31, 2010 3:12 AM

Check your spam folder if this is the first time SarahPac is emailing you.  Often when a new contact sends an email, it winds up in my spam folder by default because my email program does not recognize the sender.

I have sent a number of donations to SarahPac via email and SarahPac always sends a confirmation right away (my first confirmation from SarahPac did land in my spam folder naturally!). :)

Penny,  July 31, 2010 3:22 AM

This wasn't my first SarahPAC donation, that's why I'm curious about no confirmation.  Not in the spam folder nor is has it registered on that card account jet either.

sarah palin rocks,  July 31, 2010 3:35 AM

Well, I just checked my email and I got a SarahPac confirmation for the donation I sent in on 7/29 thru the flashing SarahPacMoney Bomb link above.

It sounds like perhaps your donation did not process correctly.
