India Today Reports
Sarah Palin, the former vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party and Governor of Alaska from 2006-09, said on Tuesday that she is excited to visit India later this week. Palin is due to deliver the dinner keynote address ‘My Vision of America’ at the India Today Conclave 2011 on March 19.
“There is tremendous interest in political and media circles in America over Sarah Palin’s visit to India,” said a press release from the India Today Conclave.
About her visit, Palin told the India Today Conclave, “I’m very excited to visit India. Americans have great respect for the world’s largest democracy.”
“India and the United States are partners in trade and business affairs, and working together our two nations can build a more peaceful and prosperous world,” she said
Sarah Heath Palin made history in December 2006 when she was sworn in as the first female governor of Alaska. Upon being elected, she championed major ethics reform, invested more than $5 billion in state savings, committed to forward fund education, protected Alaska’s natural resources and reformed Alaska’s oil production valuation system.
The press release said Palin, a working mother of five, epitomises the theme of the 10th India Today Conclave, ‘The Changing Balance of Power’, as she has discharged the responsibilities and duties of being a mayor as well as a governor breaking the gender ceiling in Alaska.
