As a former Democrat from Virginia, I found the admission of Democratic former Governor Doug Wilder telling.
Just across the Potomac, in Virginia, his fellow Democrats seem to regard any appearance with Pres. Obama as poison to their campaigns. In an interview with MSNBC, the former Governor had this to say about Obama’s
jobs campaign bus tour:
Gov. Wilder: “The absence of many Democrats with the President as he swings through the state–”
Chuck Todd: “Yea, it’s pretty glaring.”
Gov. Wilder: “The Democratic leader of the House has even taken out an ad saying ‘I am not Obama!'”
