Sarah Palin a Role Model Who Sacrificed for Country
Turner and Scholla spoke at length about her new book. She said, “I hope to serve my country in some way, in the political realm or otherwise” perhaps writing other books about our founding documents. Scholla asked Turner, “as a girl, what are your thoughts on Sarah Palin? Is she one of the people you can really learn from?”
“Oh, yes! Sarah Palin is such a wonderful woman who is out there doing everything she can to serve our country. She has sacrificed so much for our country, and I look up to her as a role model along with my mom. My mom and Sarah Palin,” Turner said.
Sarah Steelman: “Please Wake Up”
Scholla subsequently moved to another Sarah – Sarah Steelman, who Gov. Palin had endorsed for a U.S. Senate seat in Missouri during the primaries. Steelman is the former state treasurer and an economist. In her first “Steel Resolve” segment, Steelman said one of her favorite bands is the Dave Matthews Band.
Though the band is hard-core liberal, the lyrics in the song, “Gaucho” resonate strongly with Steelman. “We have to do more than believe if we are going to change things. Please wake up,” the lyric goes. Steelman said “please wake up and see what it going on, before it’s too late” is her core message to people. She noted that Matthews is a hard Obama supporter who is “casting a slightly heart-broken vote” for the incumbent. Steelman said “I will cast a slightly heart-broken vote for Romney.” Steelman said she is voting for Romney “because he is better than Obama and clearly has a vision for our country closer to what our founding fathers intended: smaller government and more freedom.”
She said the real question is why do so many of us feel “slightly heart-broken about our votes this election? It’s because we want to believe in our hearts that things are going to change, but they never do. No matter who is in control, Congress continues to spend, government gets bigger, lobbyists and big money gain more and more power, and the people continue to pay the bill.” Steelman concluded, “Dave Matthews will vote for Obama and fears that Obama won’t do what he says. I’m going to vote for Romney and I fear nothing will change. We’re going to have to do more than believe if we are going to change things. It’s going to be up to us – us the people – to make sure it happens. Please, please wake up!”
