Jen Kuznicki: Ann Coulter is an Enemy

Jen Kuznicki penned a great piece on Ann Coulter that every conservative should read.

In an amazing couple of years, Ann Coulter has gone from defender of the average American to elitist establishment hack, and everyone wants to know, how does that happen, who will fall next, and why.

The year 2011 was the big eye-opener for many conservative new-comers to politics, as we watched our newly minted politicians be co-opted because the leadership wasn’t particularly interested in the message of limited government. It is the year most cited as the biggest disappointment, because after working their tails off in 2010 to elect who they thought were conservatives, tea partiers watched a dysfunctional GOP do exactly the opposite of what we sent them there for.

But 2011 was also the year that Ann Coulter changed on a dime, and went from supporter of “authentic American” Sarah Palin, to knocking her down as a non-authentic American, who never made good points, wasn’t smart enough, and was just after money.

[…]

Since the entire snubbing lie has been exposed to be simply that people who had no authority to speak on behalf of Thatcher, did so to besmirch Palin, who most exemplifies Thatcher’s humble beginnings, righteous focus, and conservative values, I believe Ann’s friends might just be Thatcher’s ‘grandees’.

But let’s take a stroll back to when Ann Coulter used to be loved by conservatives.

In 2010:

Coulter: I’m with the tea partiers on this..a lot of establishment Republicans just want their jobs…this is a movement that can’t be stopped…I think they are going to keep paying attention and they will hold both the establishment republicans and the tea party republicans responsible. November 2, 2010

Then in 2011:
November 16th, 2011. COULTER: I think the candidate, it is going to be and is the strongest candidate to beat Obama is Mitt Romney. And, you know, I’m a little tired of these Johnny-come-lately conservative purists.

In 2010:

Smith: What happens when the tea party refuses to increase the debt ceiling and the government shuts down?

Coulter: Well, the media will blame the Republicans, but, it’s no longer 1995, that was the last time there was a government shutdown, and America, when there is a government shutdown, they’re all responsible. The President is as responsible as congress, but now we have the internet, so I think Americans are gonna know it this time. November 2, 2010

Then in 2013:
March 21st, 2013Coulter argued that the government shutdown under Bill Clinton actually hurt Republicans, but Hannity shot back by saying the GOP held onto the House after it. She rolled her eyes at the idea of shutting down the government just to spite the president, saying that the party runs the risk of looking “impotent.”

In 2009:

Smith: Ann Coulter, one of Sarah Palins biggest supporters is here with us…
Coulter: McCain was the media’s favorite republican, and any criticism of her from his side gets immediate attention, and now we are looking for the payback, and I’m looking forward to it…

Coulter: I would say she (Palin) is an authentic American, the way most media members are not, certainly Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd do not represent the average American, she has a blue collar, union-card holding husband, she can go out and be comfortable in very many parts of the country where Maureed Dowd and Frank Rich would never deign to visit, much less be comfortable. November 13th 2009

Then in 2013:
March 8th, 2013 COULTER: What, I think, a lot of us saw, that Sarah Palin did have raw political talent. And if she had been willing to put her nose to the grindstone and pursue improving herself, speaking proper English, reading stuff, knowing lots of things, she could have been great. She’s a fine person, but that isn’t what she’s pursuing.

In 2009:
January 6th, 2009, Coulter appears with Harry Smith on the CBS Early show saying that Palin is a victim of liberal oppression.

Still holds true, and Palin hasn’t changed, Coulter has.
