The obligatory “global warming is responsible for this brutal cold wave” story

I knew this was coming, though I missed it yesterday.  Via The Hill:

Global warming may be contributing to the “polar vortex” causing frigid temperatures across most of the nation on Monday, according to some climate change researchers.

While it seems counter-intuitive, the research argues that plunging temperatures could come from changes in the jet stream caused by climate change.

Rutgers University climate scientist Jennifer A Francis has released a number of papers about changes in the jet stream brought about by warming Arctic temperatures.

Her conclusions suggest that warming Arctic air caused by greenhouse gas emissions has caused changing to the jet stream that is pushing colder Arctic air further south, causing temperatures to plunge from the High Plains to the Deep South.

The jet stream shift has sent frigid air across the central part of the country, and deeper into the south than normal.

Counter-intuitive? Ya think? The global warming enthusiasts can’t lose.  If it’s cold, it because of global warming.  If it’s hot, it’s because of global warming. If there are tornados in tornado alley or hurricanes in the tropics, it’s due to global warming. What about thicker ice in the Antarctic or no measurable rise in global temperatures for the past 2 decades? Global warming, naturally.  Give these fanatics credit for having all their bases covered. There’s literally no weather event or phenomenon, regardless of how mundane or dramatic, that can’t be traced back to their man-made global warming dogma. And their “solution” to the “problem” is always the same: Lower our living standards and surrender more and more of our property and individual liberties to the cause.  No thank you.
