The NCAA just released their brackets for the 2014 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. President Obama will reportedly use March Madness as an opportunity for Obamacare messaging including a “GamePlan4Me” website (if it works) and his own “sweet sixteen” of why you should get covered (ever notice how they always talk about health coverage, not actual health care?). Will he also try to re-shape the IPAB (aka death panel) to function like the NCAA tournament committee making Medicare patients ultimately feel like “bubble” teams? Will he say, “if you like your point guard, you can keep him”? We will soon find out.
In the meantime, let us have some fun with the “Go Rogue or Go Home” bracket challenge. To participate in the men’s basketball group, please go here. You will be prompted to create an account or sign in, if you already have an ESPN account. Then, create your team name and make your picks. You will need to do so by Thursday, March 20th in the morning. For more information on how to play, please see here. I’ll be posting a women’s basketball challenge after the brackets are announced tomorrow.
My alma mater, the University of Illinois, will find itself in the NIT this year. However, for inspiration, let me share this clip from one of the biggest comebacks in NCAA tournament history. During my senior year of college, the Illini came back to defeat Arizona and make it to the final four:
Or, as another source of inspiration, how about those Wasilla Warriors back in 1982?:
The prize for winning the bracket challenge? A year’s worth of bragging rights! Good luck.
