The founder of Omega Advisors is firing back at Hillary Clinton
Leon Cooperman told CNN’s Cristina Alesci, “I don’t need anyone crapping all over what I do for a living.”
“There’s something wrong when hedge fund managers pay lower tax rates than nurses or the truckers”, Hillary Clinton declared while campaigning recently in Iowa, but failing to note that the wealthiest one percent pay 50% of the taxes the federal government collects.
He sees Clinton as a hypocrite who, “hangs out with all these people in Martha’s Vineyard and in the Hampton’s, and then the very first thing she has to say, is to criticize hedge funds.”
Cooperman notes the millions upon millions in charitable donations made by hedge fund managers, “I’ve made a lot of money and I’m giving it all back to society.”
“The notion of crapping all over hedge funds is so bogus it makes me nauseous. The only thing makes me more nauseous is those hedge funds that support her”, Cooperman added.
He has other reasons why he can’t support Hillary in 2016. Referring to disclosures about the Clinton Foundation in the book Clinton Cash, Cooperman said, “Just read about the stuff with The Clinton Initiative, to me this is an unbelievable shakedown.”
