NOTE: There is an important UPDATE at the bottom of this article.
We all know that Donald J. Trump was elected to serve as president on November 8, 2016. But there is someone else who was elected to serve our country on November 8, 2016 as well.
Janne Myrdal, a former C4P ordinary barbarian, was elected to serve our country in the North Dakota Senate!
via Grand Folks Herald:
Republican Janne Myrdal, of Edinburg, defeated Democrat Quentin Wenzel, of Langdon, by capturing nearly 64 percent of the vote to win the District 10 seat in the North Dakota Senate.
Myrdal, a family farmer and homemaker, captured the seat vacated by Joe Miller of Park River.
She has more than 20 years of experience working in the public policy arena on a wide range of issues at the state and national levels. The agricultural economy and education are two issues that concern residents in her district, she said.
Sometimes it seems like just yesterday and sometimes it feels like eons ago. But the reality is I initially met Janne at the first C4P Convention in San Diego way back in 2009. Like all of us at the C4P convention, Janne had been inspired by the vice presidential run of Governor Sarah Palin. Most of us didn’t know what to do with our new found inspiration. Except Janne. Janne knew exactly what to do.
As Janne spoke, she revealed to us that the most constructive use of our new found inspiration was to take our enthusiasm and turn it into action. She told us to get involved. So we did. We all looked for ways to use our motivation to produce positive change in America. In many ways the 2008 vice presidential campaign of Governor Palin created hundreds, possibly thousands, of little Sarah Palins nationwide who went on to take a stand by using whatever talents God blessed us with to make a difference in our country.
At the end of the convention I was overjoyed when I read the place-cards at the closing night dinner. Janne Myrdal’s name was right next to mine! I had so many questions to ask about her decades long activism in North Dakota. I was not disappointed. I was inspired. Janne delivered. As we spoke, her words about freedom struck a particularly strong cord in me. Janne both understands and appreciates how vital freedom is.
via Myrdal For Senate:
Myrdal, a native of Norway and now a U.S. citizen, has been involved in public policy issues since arrival in the USA in the early 1980s. Having grown up in a family who experienced dire hardship during the Nazi occupation of Norway in World War II, she was raised with a keen awareness of the freedoms her generation was given. She learned at an early age that freedom and justice does not just “happen” but has to be protected and fought for at all times.
Freedom. Career politicians seem to have forgotten this basic concept. At the end of the day, it’s all about freedom isn’t it? America was founded on this basic concept. Unfortunately, over many decades, career politicians have let this basic concept be overshadowed by a number of outside variables. Fortunately, this is about to change.
It’s been over seven years since the first C4P convention in San Diego. The friendships made there continue to this very day. Something very special happened in San Diego – and the ball just keeps on rolling.
Election night 2016 was extra special for a lot of us. Not only did we finally elect a president outside of the circle of elites, the good people of North Dakota district ten elected a senator outside of the circle of elites too. They literally elected one of us!
In our congratulatory phone call Janne urged me to encourage others to run for office. So I will.
The time is now. The old rules no longer apply. Both President Elect Donald Trump, and Senator Elect Janne Myrdal successfully managed to bust thru the (imaginary) rules for holding public office. The playing field has been leveled. The permanent political class, the circle of elites, and the corporate media are no longer allowed to decide who has permission to hold public office. We do. Go for it!
Senator Elect Janne Myrdal has a message for all of us who were originally inspired by Governor Palin in 2008:
“people in other states need to get out there and run for office, run for school board, run for city council, run for state assembly, run for state senate – just run”

UPDATE: A special session was called this morning in Bismarck, North Dakota. Janne Myrdal placed her hand on the Bible and took the oath of office. Janne is now a North Dakota Senator. Congratulations Senator Janne!
