President-Elect Donald Trump continued his Thank You tour with a rally last night in West Allis, Wisconsin.
House Speaker Paul Ryan was in attendance at the event.
Over the course of the general election campaign there was constant friction between the Republican nominee and the congressional leader. Ryan withheld his full support, harshly criticizing Trump on several occasions.
Ryan’s hometown Wisconsin crowd began to boo when Trump acknowledged his presence. "Oh, no! I’ve come to appreciate him", Trump said in response to the jeers. "He’s like a fine wine", stating that he’s come to appreciate the House Speaker, "more and more", in apparent reference to their tumultuous history, then playfully added that, "if he ever goes against me, I’m not going to say that."
"We’re going to work on the wall, Paul", Trump bluntly told him. In a post election interview, Ryan had told ’60 Minutes’ that his republican congress was not planning to wall off the entire Mexican-US border.
