Sheriff David Clarke leaving Milwaukee to join Trump administration
“I’m both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position by Secretary Kelly, working for the Trump administration” – Sheriff David A. Clarke
Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. announced today that he will be leaving his office at Milwaukee County’s top law enforcement officer to take a position in the Trump administration as an Assistant Secretary in the Department of Homeland Security.
Clarke dropped the bombshell this afternoon on Vicki McKenna’s show on WISN radio.
“I’m both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position by [DHS] Secretary Kelly, working for the Trump administration. It will be specifically in the Office of Partnership and Programs”, which coordinates outreach to state, local and tribal officials and law enforcement.
“It’s going to be a huge learning curve for me. I’m going to get in there and figure out the landscape; learn the people. I’ll be developing who I have interplay with. And then figure out, after I talk with Secretary Kelly, figure out a strategy to create this better liaison between the Department of Homeland Security and our state and local partners.” (WISN)
Clarke has been a passionately consistent supporter, advocate, and defender of Donald Trump throughout the course of the 2016 election campaign, and since Trump’s inauguration last January.
