Lessons from Abe
What a long journey from a humble log cabin to the White House. The road Abe Lincoln traveled had hardships – from the loss of family as a boy to the turmoil of a war-torn nation as a man. Without question, his faith and perseverance contributed to his Gettysburg Address, in which he asked that we be:
dedicated to the great task remaining before us – that from these honored dead
we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full
measure of devotion – that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not
have died in vain – that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of
freedom – and that government of the people, by the people, for the people,
shall not perish from the earth.
All these years later, it is imperative we make the same commitment!
