Pence offered to meet with Rippon, but he was turned down. USA Today reported:
[Pence] was so concerned about the criticism he received from U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon that his staff went to the extraordinary length of asking the U.S. Olympic Committee to set up a conversation between the two – an offer Rippon turned down.
Let me get this straight (pun TOTALLY INTENDED).
The Vice President extends an olive branch to gay Olympians and offers a potentially productive dialogue and the gay Olympians response is "we hate you, we don’t wanna talk to you"
And the national LGBT groups think this is a good thing?
If the LGBT were sincere about their concerns, they would join the Vice President and voice their concerns.
This is not my opinion.
Pence, of course, has been gracious despite the attacks by the two skaters. In a public statement Thursday, Pence said, “I want you to know we are FOR YOU. Don’t let fake news distract you. I am proud of you and ALL OF OUR GREAT athletes and my only hope for you and all of #TeamUSA is to bring home the gold. Go get ’em!”
